Two Rivers Restaurant in Monmouthshire

Came here last November in the evening for a birthday meal and was blown away by the quality of the food, especially for how good the price was! Came back today to try their breakfast menu and it was very tasty for so cheap! Full english as well as continental fun under £10! Debbie was our server as she was brilliant, we've now booked in for breakfast with santa for our little one and are planning to come back to try the carvery!

Went here for bfast today and it was delicious, the manager Sam was fantastic very helpful and my food cooked by chef Lisa was super.

i can't lie i'm eating here at least twice a month and i must say it's absolutely delicious the desserts are delicious the dome is the best

Really disappointed- we had an extended family meal and both the quality of good and the service were completely out of keeping with the prices charged. Core issue was the failure to bring one main out with the rest so everyone’s food for cold while we waited and after chasing it, we started but had finished our food by the time the final meal arrived. To be fair they agreed not to charge us for the late main but when it finally arrived it was incredibly over cooked (reheated in the microwave chicken??). While the burgers and fish and chips were decent, the sea bass was congealed with a mix of over and under cooked veg, the pasta mains were ready meal quality - insipid and under-browned. It appeared under-staffed and no manager. We’d have been better severed for half the price at Wetherspoons.

We stayed for a night and ate dinner in the pub. Firstly, the room. The room we had was spacious and basically, but adequately, furnished. The full length mirror had a shelf in the middle which was a bit strange! Large TV with plenty of freeview channels available. Also, double plugs and USB chargers on both sides of the bed, which is essential nowadays as we all have so much to charge! Comfortable bed. We were given an accessible room so the bathroom was adapted as such. However, there was absolutely no horizontal surface off the floor (apart from the cistern lid) to put anything on, which I find odd as there was room for a shelf/shelving unit and would have thought someone with a disability would struggle to place the many washing items on the floor and use them as and when required. But all in all, a very comfortable room. Now the food. The pub was busy and had a good atmosphere. The salt and pepper squid starter was good. The bowl of olives was enormous and good value. The humous bowl was also large and very good but lacked a decent quantity of pita bread, so we ordered more. Three of us ordered sirloin steaks and we were disappointed. One steak was full of gristle and inedible - the staff readily refunded this. The other two were OK but cooking times were mixed up - I received the medium and my wife the medium rare and, since I had added the peppercorn sauce to mine, couldn't swap as my wife doesn't like any sauce on her steak. They were a little tough, but edible. I note other negative comments on the steaks so maybe the chef needs to review the supplier. The bar was well stocked and an old favourite of mine, Marstons Pedigree, was available and kept well. We were also impressed with all the staff - attentive, polite and courteous. The car park was huge and safe, which was important for our group as we were attending a local car rally event and needed safe parking for our cherished motors! We would return, and probably will for the same event we attended today next year, but might stay away from the sirloins! All in all, an enjoyable stay.

Thought we would just pop in for a coffee this morning, sat down and left at 4pm! Wonderful atmosphere throughout the pub, we also had the two course lunchtime menu. Lovely meal, good service. See you soon!

Our experience from the beginning and throughout was wonderful. Myself and my wife had a ribeye which I'll be honest we often hesitate as we like our steak, can I just say whoever or however cooked our steaks needs praise. We haven't had a meal out which we thoughily enjoyed and our steaks just melted. Thank you two Rivers. Jamie

My dining experience at Two Rivers Chepstow got off to a rocky start due to a hiccup with our booking; the staff seemed unaware of it, attributing it to a malfunctioning computer system. Despite requesting an easy access table for my elderly, partially disabled parents, it was initially overlooked. However, after bringing it to their attention, they promptly provided us with a suitable table. Once seated, the service remained inconsistent. While our starters and drinks arrived promptly, there was a noticeable lack of attention from the staff until suddenly, the mains for my parents were served. We even had to recycle cutlery from the first course. Disappointingly, my main course was forgotten, causing a significant delay. After waiting for exactly 20 minutes, I felt compelled to raise the issue with the manager, whom I'll refer to as Mr. Tracksuit Bottoms and Trainers. Although Mr. TBT acknowledged the oversight and apologised, the damage was done. By the time my meal was addressed, my parents had already finished theirs. Regrettably, the experience tainted what should have been a pleasant lunch outing. I left without having the main course I had anticipated, a simple Scampi and Chips. To their credit, the remainder of the meal was comped by Mr. TBT in an attempt to rectify the situation. However, despite this gesture, I am hesitant to return to Two Rivers. The overall experience fell short of expectations, and the service lapses overshadowed any redeeming qualities the establishment may have had.

Poor service only one member of staff behind the bar. Ordering took ages as they only had one bar staff who was making coffees as 4 people waiting to order food and drinks. Food was poor sirloin full of grizzle,pie looked under cooked with scant filling. On the plus side chips were nice and management were apologetic. No Merlot wine so had melbec which was over price at £7 for a small glass.

After an horrendous journey and arriving very late, we rang ahead to place our food order and the service and welcome by the manager and Chantelle was amazing. The food was gorgeous and such great value!

Stayed 4 nights. Good, clean room. Excellent bar/restaurant staff. Bit limited menu, if you're looking for eg salad. Nice pint of Marston's.

Great location, easy to get to, lots of parking. Menu looks good, interior very comfortable. A bit short staffed at bar, waitress very friendly. Food was lovely, except croutons on salad were stale. Told waitress who apologised. No offer of discount, or food to recompense. Wouldn't put me off going again, as everything else was good.

Awful. There 30 mins before getting drink. Every course came out wrong, poor girl mustve just been starting but given no help by the manager who was literally 5 yards from us. Prawn cocktail worst ive ever had no sauce even !! Hunters chicken terrible also. To be fair the fish and chips was nice. I wont be going back again thats for certain, had to clear up own plates and then get our own drinks , again I dont want to have go at waitress I blame management.

Breakfast absolutely spot on cooked by kieran and Lisa!! Would recommend to anyone wanting a bite to eat either breakfast or dinner!

Took a customer of mine here for a drink , we ended up having lunch , we both went for the Buttermilk Chicken Burger . It was amazing and really enjoyed , we had to thank Chef personally as it was that good , Thanks Kieran , was a pleasure and we will be back

This spot is great for breakfast, we had a breakfast meeting with some of my work colleagues. Being the bantery bunch we are we wanted to personally thank the Chef, Kieran. The food was stunning, Thanks team and Thanks Kieran!

Amazing breakfast!!! What a day to start the day! Very tasty food. I would recommend the breakfast when Chef Kieran is working. My friends thought it was so good that they wanted to thank him in person. Lush time, great vibes! Being an egg lover I realllyyyy enjoyed the omelette with mushroom. Hats off again to Kieran! Will definitely go there again :)

The new manager on the bar was very knowledgeable about the selection of gins and tonic pairings. Food was simple, but perfect, who knew a fish finger sandwich could be so good thank you chef Kieran

Went there for family meal steak was cooked to perfection, chicken was tasty all cooked by kieran would recommend it very good value for money

Easy best breakfast locally and the continental that comes with it is amazing and the kids love it!!! Poached eggs where the best I’ve ever had and I thought I could cook them.. will be returning regularly for a breakfast now amazing

Went for sunday lunch with work friends. We were given the menus after we'd waited about 15 mins for drinks to be ordered, (these took another 15 mins to actually arrive). When we had all (8 of us) ordered different roasts we were then told that only the pork was available, so guess what.....we had the pork. One of our party opted for the steak pie, which, when it finally turned up, was cold. Presentation was terrible, with the meal being realised as just a pile of veg, spuds and a couple of slivers of meat. The puddings arrived a little quicker but they too were either cold themselves or the custard was at best tepid. Disappointed to say the least. Other members of my party got a discount, but I didn't.

Absolutely love this place, first time visiting. We are not local but will definitely plan to come back. The staff were attentive but not over powering, the food delicious! Love the vibe of the Two Rivers - keep doing what you’re doing

We attended breakfast with Santa yesterday and can honestly say it was amazing, the staff were extremely attentive, Mike served us and ensured we had everything we needed, food came quick, my son recieved a colouring pack and a letter for him to give to Santa. Who might I add was phenomenal, very interactive and could have fooled me of being real. Highly recommend and will most certainly be attending again. Thank you x

Poor service ( again ) mediocre food..... Initial drinks order incorrect , a ridiculous amount of time waiting for drinks in general , food totally average ......I had a mixed grill , sausage was OK ( you can't mess up a sausage ) chop was grissly , steak ok , the egg was anemic and what should have been a flat mushroom was 4 button mushrooms but the size of an action man uniform buttons .......forgot partners dessert, forgot her last drink and we still had pots of ketchup on the table whilst eating dessert .....caught me on a good day because I just couldn't be pestered to properly complain .... It was a case of PAY AND WALK AWAY .....and doubt we will bother again .

Visited for a Christmas lunch as a party of six. Very tough roast potatoes and yorkshire pud but the veg and turkey were acceptable, all served on cold plates so the lunch was instantly cold. "Choice" of one real ale, the deserts were good, we were not asked if everything was OK, perhaps they were afraid to ! No excuse that they were too busy, it was a Monday afternoon. This is not what we have come to expect from the Two Rivers.

I was visiting family in Wales & we booked the Two Rivers for dinner. The food was amazing. I had a burger & chips & it was so fresh & tasted amazing. The staff were so happy & friendly & nothing was too much. I would highly recommend to family & friends. Excellent service & food

We visited on a quiet Thursday lunchtime, and felt that it was one of the most soulless, unwelcoming places we’d ever visited. There was a 30% off steak and grills offer, which I expected would mean that the chef would be well experienced in producing a delicious steak. Not so. The steak, although requested to be “well done”, ie no pink meat was so excruciatingly overdone that I used half a bottle of mayonnaise to swallow it. No waiter came to enquire if our meal was ok, or to offer condiments, like mustard, which weren’t in the tray. It may be they were understaffed, but the experience was such that we won’t be visiting again. We didn’t stay for pudding. The Malbec wine was nice, as were the chips, but that’s the best I can say. Despite giving feedback on the steak when my husband paid for our meal, the response was inadequately, “I’ll tell the chef” Avoid!!!

This pub is perfect for families and couples and a great vibe! Food is 5* quality at a great price. Staff couldn't have done any better always checked on. Can't wait to come back!

Recently popped in for some food and was absolutely blown away with the service and the food, I had the salt and pepper Calamari to start which was amazing and crisp and the Ribeye for my main which was cooked to perfection! Will definitely be returning

Returned tempted by a very enjoyable experience time before. Last time - expected, attentively served and best meals we have ever had at Two Rivers. This time booked on line again. Arrived walking in the pouring rain. Hardly any customers - OK - about 12. Waited just inside front door at restaurant reception. Uncomfortably wet. Eventually acknowledged by one of staff. Shown to a different table to the one asked for with table service. Left there. Had to go to bar to ask for drinks. After drinks arrived, had to go and wait at restaurant reception to ask for menus. Had to go to bar again to see if we could have our food order taken. Showed waiter 30% off all mains voucher - 'that's fine, mate. We'll see to that on the bill'. A while after ordering, waitress returns 'We ain't got no scampi'. Two wrong meals delivered first. Eventually served with good meals. Ordered more drinks. Almost finished eating and had to go to bar again to enquire about the drinks we ordered to drink with our meals. 'Literally just about to be brought over, mate'. Finished eating and drinking and asked for bill. Bill arrives with 30% discount on steaks. Had to go to bar again to query wrong bill. We were asked again about what offer we had. Eventually got a corrected bill with 30% discount on mains. Left after paying bill and leaving a £10 tip (goodness knows why). New staff?? Short staffed?? Don't know what the problem was but not at all impressed with the service. Meals were good but the service is much better down at The Bell Hanger, Wetherspoons using the app and drinks are 60% cheaper.

I come to this lovely pub from abertillery to meet friends and family from Bristol and I love it. The food is lovely and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I had a child's roast which was nice except the the roast potatoes were undercooked slightly and the gravy could've been thicker. The pudding selection was good and the chocolate bomb is gorgeous. Our sever was ashley who I've met previously was absolutely lovely. Very polite and couldn't do enough for us. Lovely member of your team. I'll definitely be back

Horrible experience Frozen prawns. Undercooked starters. Bland awful main course. Beef tough ect. No serviettes No sauces ie apples sauce ect just totally awful.
