Twickenham Spice in Hounslow

Looking at previous reviews we eagerly anticipated our order from Twickenham Spice. However, our excitement quickly turned into disappointment upon actually trying to taste the dishes. The flavours that we had hoped would dance on our palate were sadly absent. The dishes lacked the vibrancy and depth that are characteristic of authentic Indian cuisine. From the saag paneer to the mushroom bhaji each dish fell short of expectations. The daal known for its thick and creamy texture, tasted bland and was ridiculously watery and thin, almost as though it had never seen a lentil. Similarly, the garlic naan lacked garlic and anything to make it moist, also the size of the naan was on the small side (in this case that was a positive as it meant less of the dry tastleless bread) In addition to the lackluster flavours, the portion sizes were also underwhelming. Overall, our experience at Twickenham Spice was disappointing and a name change might be needed unless they actually start using spices. While the convenience of takeaway is undeniable, the tasteless food failed to deliver the culinary experience we had hoped for and had this been in a restaurant we would have sent everything back. Don't waste your time or money with this one there are better options locally.

First time ordering - based on all the very good reviews decided to try. All the food we ordered for 2 was delicious and was so nice to have curries that did not have lots of oil in them. Generous portion, Reasonable price and prompt delivery. Would highly recommend. Thank you

Had a curry a few times now from here now. Food is really nice overall. The chicken naga is absolutely delicious. Not that it was a complaint, though i asked for less oil when i placed my last delivery order (naga chicken) and they were more than happy to oblige. I’m not Picky, just on a diet! Customer service is great too. A lovely owner who is passionate about the business. Place is very clean too. Chicken naga is a must!!!! Would Give more stars if I could!!!!

Very expensive , Not even basmati rice for biryani and charged 11£ for Chicken biryani with very less quantity. Not recommended for Indians

I came across this restaurant as I was searching for something to eat , based on reviews I have given it a go . I’ve ordered a tikka masala ,masala chicken ,white plain rice and onion bhaji. When I received my order I was very disappointed to see that instead of tikka masala I received chicken korma coated in masala seasoning . I’ve contacted the restaurant immediately however they were unhelpful and never offered a re delivery of the correct item . I work at the hospital so I felt like walking down to get my masala but by then my break was over so I couldn’t do anything . I’m starving hope my patients forgive me for being sleepy haha . Thank God to good colleagues and just eat refund , but as for me I won’t be a ordering again .

Have been dining here for about an year now. Amazing food. Authentic Indian taste. Bring your own drink is an added advantage. If you are in Twickenham, its worth a try.

We ordered paneer tikka and it was SWEET in taste.. when we asked the manager .. he said it's always SWEET!! And his attitude was like..I am wrong.. to add .. we ordered egg fried rice.. it was yellow in colour.. seems like a egg pulao..not fried rice..

We have used this restaurant for Takeaways for a number of years and are usually very happy with the food. Tonights food was rather disappointing however. The Lamb Biryani had a total of only 6 small pieces of lamb in it and was very bland. The Chicken Dhansak had a half cm layer of oil on the top and the portion was significantly smaller than usual - though it was very tasty. We will order again as I'm hoping this was just due to a busy evening (the order took an hour and a half to arrive) However if the food is poor again, we will definitely look elsewhere.

Best Onion Bhaji Ever! My wife and I stopped in on a whim for a Sunday dinner and were VERY pleasantly surprised. We had the Chicken Dhansak and Lamb Biryani, and were completely bowled-over with how excellent everything tasted. The service was polite, prompt and friendly. We will absolutely be back!

Love the food and service is excellent. I ask for super hot curry and the chef gets it spot on. My favourite is lamb madras extremely chilli hot, with cold beer. The best.

Best Indian takeaway in this area, very reasonable price and the quality of the food just awesome. Mixed platter starter, lamb madras, naan, basmati rice ..each and every dish was just spot on. However the customer sitting could be improved as it wasn't very comfortable. Overall good experience.

What a lovely meal ! Twickenham spice has amazing food at reasonable prices, with a lovely local restaurant feel. The staff are friendly and providedexcellent service! #You can bring your own wine, which is always a plus, but you might be so distracted by the delicious food that you forget to drink it! It was soo upsetting to see when I went to their shop with my partner and her sister visiting us. We thought we’d like to try this shop and we ordered a Kebab and two desert to try, the waiter took our order and came back after couple of minutes saying that we need to order at-least two more mains otherwise he’ll not do our order. And they did even acknowledge what we had ordered and was happy enough to be rude to their first customers as an Indian I would never suggest this shop ever to anyone.

First time in London, knowing Indian food was big here I was on the hunt for it. Luckily my air bnb was right above Twickenham spice! Nice little restaurant with amazing food. From the curry to the lentil and sea bass, the flavors were outstanding. Both Ahmed and Ahmed are very hospitable and take good care of the place. I’ll miss this restaurant when I head back to the US.

This restaurant is head and shoulders above all other curry houses in the area. I never write reviews but felt compelled to do so today:- A few months ago I noticed Twickenham Spice had dropped off Uber eats and just eat and was gutted. So I tried using other places but they didn’t even come close, so today I rang them and they explained they are still operating and taking orders!! The gentleman I spoke with took my order explaining it would be with me within 30 to 45 mins but it actually came within 20 mins! I ordered my favourite, lamb Karahi with garlic rice and onion bhajis and it was top notch, hot, fresh ingredients. My dad loves the chicken bhuna and says that ones we’ve got from other restaurants always pale in comparison. It’s actually made my day / week that my favourite curry place is still going and better than ever. Love it!

Came to visit my friend & we were looking for some Indian takeaway. Found this online, ordered Chicken tikka biryani & Garlic chilli chicken with pilau rice. Food was brilliant. I would say hidden gem in the area! Delivery guy was very polite. Highly recommended.

Hi, I would like to share my recent dining experience at Twickenham Spice. Yess they reopened! It’s in Twickenham Road. I had great experience with my family. Absolutely enjoyed all the dishes, served hot and very tasty. They have variety of choices! Me and my family loved Chefs special mixed biriany, chilli garlic chicken , Naan, and mix grill. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. They made us feel comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant! 👍

First time I have tried this restaurant, though just close to home. Very pleasantly surprise with the fast service and the quality of food. Very tasty lamb passanda and prawn curry. So was the naan and the pilau rice. Will definitely go there again .

Good food but service a little slow

I used to order from this place monthly, but the food consistency has gone extremely down hill - I also always specified that my orders were an intolerance order as my husband suffers with Lactose Intolerance but this food regularly gave him very bad cramps. it was even more disturbing when I had to explain over the phone what Lactose Intolerance is and what products contain dairy. They were quick to tell me that I could remove the delivery charge by using their website, however when I did this I ordered at 10.30pm (they claim to close at 11pm) and I received a call at 11.20pm telling me my order was not coming and they closed the Kitchen. I will NEVER order from this place again and would NOT recommend.

Went here for dinner on Friday for the first time with my girlfriend and I highly recommend it. I had the lamb passanda with okra and a garlic naan. The sauce that the lamb passanda came in was exquisite. The music was also very good and added a nice element to a good evening. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. Big shout out to Hassan who was easy to talk to and provided service with a smile.

Lovely food for a birthday celebration. We regularly order a takeaway from Twickenham spice and it is always delicious. Thanks to Hussain for great customer service and for being so helpful.

We had a take away for the first time from Twickenham Spice and we are utterly disappointed. All dishes were sweet, even the curry. Absolutely horrendous.

Our family use this for takeaways too. The food was excellent on my resent visit and the staff couldn't more accommodating.

This is my 3rd time coming to this restaurant and it’s the best Indian by far!!! I come all the way from Enfield just to come here as the food is amazing. Also the service is just amazing Hussain made sure we was ok so polite just perfect customer service just wish this was more closer to home 👌

To describe the experience of Twickenham Spice as a bad one would be an understatement. I would say this was the most challenging experience in ordering takeaway I have ever had and the subsequent food poisoning brought one of our party to their knees. 755pm (23/12/2021). Twickenham spice has an excellent menu and as a group of 4, we ordered mainly vegetarian dishes, with 1 chicken dish, rice, sides and sundries. 900pm. Our order arrived through Uber Eats. As we emptied the bag it was clear that a large part of our order was missing. We opened the food that was there and it was clear this wasn't our order at all. There was no receipt on the bag, so it must have been a mix up. We called the restaurant, they apologised and said they would send someone to pick up our food and would deliver us our food in 15 minutes. A mistake had been made and we were happy with the resolution. The restaurant was also very keen to blame uber eats for the mistake, but this seemed quite strange, as the uber eats delivery rider had just taken what he had been given, to the address they are given. It seemed quite clear to us that the restaurant had not packaged the orders properly and had sent them to the wrong people. 915pm. Anyway, we repackaged our food, and someone from the restaurant came, but he didn't bring us our food. This was rather strange and he just said it was on the way and it would be there shortly. How wrong someone could be… This drew us to 1 of 2 possible conclusions. 1. The restaurant was swapping the food. This would be pretty unhygienic given both mistaken deliveries had been opened etc. This option made us very uncomfortable. 2. The restaurant believed we were trying to steal the food and wanted to check that we indeed did have the wrong order. If this was the case, preparing our order simultaneously would have been sensible. Anyway having returned the food, we waited for our delivery. 945pm. Still no sign of our food. We rang the restaurant and were told it had left the restaurant and was on its way. We checked and from Google maps the delivery time, was 8 minutes so again we were patient. 1005pm. Still no sign of our food. We rang the restaurant again, and were similarly told it was just leaving the restaurant and was on its way. 1025pm. Still no sign of our food. We rang the restaurant again, and were again told that it was definitely on its way, and would be here shortly. 1030pm. Food arrived. 2.5 hours after ordering. This really was unacceptable, and the restaurant clearly hadn't started preparing our order, possibly hoping to do the swap. Then after a huge delay had cooked up the fresh food. I warn everyone to be very careful with this establishment, they do not follow life norms. We were all quite tired and very hungry from the experience and had to eat our curry at almost 11pm. The curry did indeed taste very good, but having dinner this late, I think anything would have. 9am (24/12/2021). For the meat eater in the party, Christmas eve began with a severe bout of diarrhoea and vomiting. It must have been the chicken patia. This illness would extend through Christmas day and boxing day, with the poor guy bedridden and not having any Christmas turkey. Merry Christmas from Twickenham Spice.

One of our favourites for take always and dining in. Their shashlik, tadka dhal, Rogan josh and naan are delicious! Very friendly and family run. Recommend!

Fantastic food again I have been living here for 21 years on and off and this place is the best Indian tasting food I have out of Twickenham Richmond Teddington.

Delicious food and very kind staff. They helped us choose what to eat as we were not very familiar with Indian cuisine. We will keep going there or ordering take away.

I love coming to this restaurant. It has amazing food that is prepared fresh and to an extremely high standard. The staff is extremely friendly would defiantly recommend.

A shame as our previous visits have been positive. When we went in the restraunt it was cold to the point we had to keep our coats on at the table and there was a smell of damp but we didn't want to let that put us of getting their food which turned out to be a mistake. We had a butter chicken almond with lamb Karachi lemon rice and a few other sides. We arent sure what did it but my girlfriend had to go to the loo as she thought she would throw up but she put this down to something else and not the food as it tasted okay. However when I woke up in the night and also threw up we cant say it was anything else than a problem with the food. It was a shame as we usually like this place but this experience has put us both off unfortunately. The man behind the counter was nice though which us why it got 2 stars and not 1.

Twickenham spice never disappoints the food is always 7 stars and I know this because my 2 year old daughter loves their food and she is very picky. They are my go to Indian restaurant, I would go anywhere else. Thanks always for the amazing food and service

The quality of food is consistently excellent and good value, and the service we receive is always extremely friendly and focused on catering to our requirements. Prompt free delivery, too. Fantastic Indian takeaway, we have ordered several times before and always thoroughly enjoy every dish. The food is always hot, tastes great and is clearly fleshly prepared. Tandoori paneer, butter chicken and saag aloo are our go to favourites.

Me and my mrs decided to make the most of the weekend by treating ourselves, we decided to go due to a friends recommendation and it was lovely, the staff were receptive and friendly got our food to us in time and the lamb biriani was delicious, full of flavour well cooked with the right amount of spice, an overall great service definitely worth the money they will see us again very soon for sure

We regularly order from here and have loved every dish! So impressed every time - tasty, delivered quickly and excellent portion size. Mixed special Jalfrezi, aloo puri and brinjal bhaji are particular favourites. I ate here a couple of times last year between lockdowns and was really impressed with the quality and quantity of the dishes. I'd actually forgotten how good it was until we ordered a takeaway this evening. Surprisingly for a delivery order, it arrived well within the allotted time and was so delicious. Ordered for the first time boxing day from deliveroo. It came a lot quicker than stated and I think overall fairly priced. My wife and I really liked the naan, popadooms and egg rice. Onion bhajee as a starter was nice ,however for me wasn't as crunchy/cooked in the middle as I like. I got a chicken bhuna which I did not like the flavour of and different taste to what I normally get. Probably wouldn't order again if I did I wouldn't get a bhuna.

What a little gem of isleworth! Modern, delightful space for a dress up or down dinner. Best bits: 1. Top quality Indian - Yummy, fresh authentic dishes! Karachi chicken, tandoori and fluffy nan are some of our favourites. 2. Reasonable prices - good portion and quality of food without bleeding your wallet dry 3. Ace service - Friendly service, staff seems to know everyone who walked in. Felt like a dinner at friends : ) Useful to know: Twickenham road is very busy during rush hour, the local residential car parking is free after 7pm. Or you can park on south street which is a few mins walk distance Hope you will find this review useful - bon appetite ❤️

Good food nice people just abit long to bring food out

I’ve just had my food delivered it’s disgusting sloppy tasteless and very sweet. I’ve had to throw everything away as it’s inedible. The sag paneer was like creamed sloppy spinach and the aloo Gobi was mush. I’m so disappointed!

Not bad for a contemporary restaurant. The Tarka Dhaal and paneer with peas were amazing. Curries were a bit too sauce though.

The guys at Twickenham Spice are still serving great food! We have been using them since them opened in 2018 and last night we again had a delicious, well cooked and piping hot delivery from them! Keep up the good work and never change the dhansak recipe as it’s amazing! Chicken Tikka starter is amazing too and they will do some bespoke dishes too if you ask and they are not to busy of course! Try eating in too as the food tastes even more authentic when served in the proper dishes rather than a takeaway tub! All the best guys Cris & The Family

Amazing food lamb was nice and tender!!

I ordered a takeaway at 7.30pm, was told it would arrive at 8.40pm. Called them at 9.15pm and was told my order was on it's way. Finally recived it at 9.40pm....what a shambles

We cannot believe the quality of the food for the price at this place. I would give it 10-stars if possible. Our favorite Indian take-away by far. It is on par with places that charge 3x the price. We recommended to some friends of ours and now they are also hooked (though we could not agree between us which dishes were the best)! Thank you for the great food! :)

This place does the best Indian takeaway in the Isleworth area (we’ve eaten in the restaurant a couple months ago too). Tonight we ordered paneer shashlik, sag paneer, channa massala, mushroom rice and cheese and garlic naan and it was flawless and arrived quickly. Everything...

I hand on heart this is one of the worst places I've ever eaten from. I know my indian food really well and reluctantly ordered a takeaway. What a big regret...this place is sincerely fir those who do NOT know what good indian food is so if you know your food steer clear. Ordered a garlic chilli prawn basically a mix of green chillies, Galic powder and sugar lots of sugar and I'm diabetic!!! These people have absolutely no idea in cooking good food avoid at all cost you've been warned dont waste your head earned money on pure junk!!! What was worse was when I rang to complain that I was diabetic and the food was sugar syrup the guy on the phones answer was ok I'll have a word with our chef! Pathetic

I visited with my family ordered for starters took almost 80mins for starters to arrive despite requisting them again and again,we drank 3 J20 and charged 4 ,shalishlick Tikka ordered 2 but arrived 1 after requesting them time and again ,since I had my kids...

This people are pathetic , I visited with my family and kids ,got a very bad service ,food starter delays ,ordered for starters which was delayed by 80mins , that to upon requesting time and again, starters received was totally raw and had pay for all the food despite delays and rawness the kids also didn't eat a single piece ,totally disgusting ,orders for drinks was also mis placed , few tables arrived after us got their food prior to us ,

Newish Indian Restaurant with good large menu. Parking is easy either om the Twickenham Road or in St John's Road. The King Prawn Madras was excellent.
