Reasonably priced, big breakfast and was cooked very well. However all the food seemed a bit bland but not in edible. (Still scranned the lot). You get a lovely huge pot of tea that easily refills 3 cups each for me and my partner. I would go back but not in a hurry

We came here three times for breakfast while on holiday in the area; the first time because it was recommended, the subsequent two because it was so good. Excellent portions for a very reasonable price, lovely staff who are very attentive and made the whole experience, and well situated on the high street in Leslie! Could not recommend enough!

Visited the coffee house ELLA's ( formerly known as Twa' Hens ) this morning with a friend. The rain was pouring outside, but there was a warm welcome inside. Great selection of 'breakfast items, plated or in a roll or with toast. Baked goods- excellent scones and top quality coffee. All served by friendly staff. On the main street of Leslie. Drop in and support this great team and have the best coffee in town :o)

We ate here twice over the weekend and were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and the value for money. The hens are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. We had lunch on Friday which was home made soup and the best toasted sandwiches ever and a huge perfectly cooked breakfast on the Saturday. Definitely worth a visit and we will be back.

We took our friends away for a weekend to celebrate their anniversary and on the last day we went for breakfast to this little gem on Leslie High street. I chose it because of the reviews. We were not disappointed, in fact the reviews didn’t do it complete justice. It was quaint and cosy but comfortable. The breakfast was huge and that was the smaller portion. Our friends said the Bacon was cooked perfectly, eggs runny, mushrooms perfect. My husband and I are veggies and he commented that it was probably the best breakfast he’d had, full stop. The very attentive and exceptionally cheery waitress even confirmed that we’d prefer our food cooked separately for obvious reason. Latte was strong and milky, delicious and a large teapot for several cups of tasty tea. A plethora of toast, thick and warm with butter. An unusual cake but we would certainly try it again. The most important thing I’d like to mention is the fact that after our breakfast, I thanked the staff and started to chat to the lady doing the frying. She began to apologise in case the service wasn’t perfect as she’d had some bad news about a family members health. She began to tear up but remained professional. I told her, the service was amazing considering and the food perfectly cooked. How professional were they? Looking after their customers in spite of personal pain. Can I just say, my friends and I wish you every comfort and positive wishes that whatever the outcome or situation, you are able as a family to bring strength to one another and see this through. We will return for sure and we hope and pray you can continue to be the obvious asset you are to your community. Well done on providing just what people want and need, good honest home cooked food at an affordable price, accessible to your everyday neighbour, a cheery welcome with open arms and familiar banter that makes you want to come back again and again, that’s what true community is all about. Well done, thank you and all the very best for the future. Jacquie, Geoff, Bari and June 🙂

On this particular Sunday morning, our fave Glenrothes cafe was closed so we took the five minute drive to Leslie, which I always thought was much smaller than it actually is! The High Street is unexpectedly long! The service was great and friendly and the breakfast deal was exceptional value. There was a steady flow of customers that morning so it’s clearly a popular choice! Word of warning: cash only so come prepared! And I absolutely love the quirky collection of hens in the window! Hens the name, I suppose...

We headed here on the recommendation of TripAdvisor on a weekday afternoon. It’s a quiet part of town so parking nearby is not a problem. This cafe closes at 3.30pm so don’t arrive too late. Everything was clean and cheerful; there are quite a few tables and the ones at the front enjoy natural light through the shopfront windows. There is a clean, attractive toilet easily accessible as it opens straight off the cafe on the ground floor. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a choice of some 8 different cakes and slices. We both ordered cake and were served HUGE slices (see my photos). It’s a rare day when my husband cannot finish his cake! The prices were good too. Would love to return for breakfast - the menu looks interesting with some different items included in the breakfasts. They sound very large too.

We stopped off here late morning for something to eat. After perusing their extensive menu, I decided to have the 'clucking breakfast', whilst my daughter opted for the lentil, bacon and vegetable soup which came with bread. My daughter is dairy and egg intolerant and the ladies were very helpful in checking all the ingredients to make sure that what she was having contained no dairy or egg.The café was quite busy when we were in, and it is themed around hens. Our food was not long in arriving, and I couldn't quite believe the size of my breakfast, the 'clucking breakfast' is referred to as the small breakfast too! It contained fried egg, 2 rashers of bacon, beans, mushrooms, potato scone, hash brown, lorne sausage, black pudding and 2 rounds of toast, all for £4.99. (The lorne sausage can be substituted for link sausage, and similarly the black pudding can be substituted for haggis if you wish). I was even asked if I wanted more toast, the truth being I was unable to finish what I had, and I enjoy my food! My daughter enjoyed her soup, saying it was tasty. The café also offers a range of home baking which includes traybakes, scones and cakes.Overall - The two ladies were very attentive, helpful, pleasant and friendly. A nice environment in which to dine. We felt that what we had represented tremendous value for money. No negatives to report at all, and we would certainly recommend.

This café is a hidden gem, though it's situated on the High Street in Leslie it does have a small frontage and it's easy to drive past if you're not aware of it's location. My advice is to take the time to find it. A word of warning however, there is no parking available directly outside and parking spaces can be few and far between. That aside I wasn't disappointed with my first visit, the place is spotlessly clean and the ambience warm and friendly. It has a good selection of snacks and meals on offer from traditional cooked Scottish breakfasts to a range of salads and hot dishes as well as home baking and sandwiches if you're just looking for a light bite. Everything is cooked fresh on the premises using good quality ingredients. Friendly personable staff - am I going to visit again? - that's a big yes from me!

Came for our second visit this morning, chose the haggis on my breakfast as I didn't like the quality of the black pudding last time, I didn't rate the haggis either found it very salty, having said that, the bacon is thick and tasty, everything is cooked fresh, the only thing I would change is the mushrooms, pretty sure they're tinned... overall though, great value for money, local and everything is cooked in front off you, clean tidy and great service.

I agree with many statements from other reviews, spotless place, delightful staff, great welcome, good quality produce, can't argue with any of this one little bit. But the food was a disappointment after reading so many great reviews, no choice of brown or white toast ( sorry ladies I prefer brown) the bacon although obviously good quality was unsmoked or very lightly smoked (again sorry I much prefer smoked) haggis (my breakfast) black pud (wife's breakfast) both over cooked. The biggest disappointment was to see poor quality sachets of sauce on the table ( charge a few pennies extra and provided the good stuff. I so much wanted to write a glowing review but in all honesty I can't

This wee place is a diamond in the rough. As we stay in Glenrothes, we had used the previous cafe located in the same building and it served a purpose - was not great but was not bad either. Then came the ladies who dreamed a dream!I cannot say enough about the staff in here. They make it what it is. Not only because they cook your food but they are so welcoming and friendly. It's almost as if they have simply invited you into their house for lunch. We have been several times now and tried both breakfast and lunch. The portions are good and value for money is great. That said, it's not all about the quantity, but more about the quality and I can safely say that these ladies know how to cook! There are always specials on the board and I spotted Steak Pie on one occasion that we were in for breakfast. I mentioned that I love it and was gutted that we chose the wrong time of day. To my surprise, I had a spoon handed to me with a sampler of the stew and a wee smile. Absolutely gorgeous. Very impressed - it has fresh and clean decoration, and a theme of chickens - so chicken ornaments in the window and chicken tea pots, etc. Visited with my elderly mum and we had the soup of the day which was lentil, vegetable, and bacon. It was piping hot and really delicious - just what we needed on a freezing cold day.The staff were really lovely and helpful, and we will definitely be back because it is very handy for the shops on the high street, the post office, and the doctors surgery.

The menu is the usual pub grub but nicely presented and service was quick. Ae chose the roast beef, meatball and curry with icecream and coffee to follow. All very tasty The welcome and service were frienly and efficient and the dining room light airy and spacious.

What a disappointment. I found the Bothy at Boglily on TA, loved the look of the place, the gorgeous photos of cooked food on their site and the good reviews. We are doing a road trip and this was going to be our Sunday morning treat. The car park was jammed with cars and we saw people standing in a queue to pet baby goats. Upon entering the inviting Bothy and asking a young man for a table, we were told that we couldn’t bring our dog in. Fair enough. Not every dining establishment is dog-friendly. Though I was a bit surprised as the restaurant is in a buffalo farm, there’s a petting zoo and it’s in the countryside. The sun was shining so I asked if we could order our meal and sit at the table on the deck, directly next to the door of The Bothy (see photo for proximity). The young man’s response was that they don’t offer takeaway. I queried whether a table one step from the door qualified as takeaway. It reminded me of the TV ad with the man trying to buy potatoes at a farm shop and being told that he can only pay with digital currency. People taking themselves so seriously that they don’t think of the customer experience. We had driven up from our holiday cottage at Kinghorn especially to get a nice cooked breakfast from their lovely menu, so my surprise and disappointment were apparent. I was directed to the outdoor kiosk they call the Milk Bar to order something from their limited selection. We ordered one Double Cheese Toastie with fries, a latte, an affogato milkshake ( made with buffalo milk ice cream) and a scone, which was on their menu. The two lovely servers told me that they don’t sell scones outside and I would have to go to the Bothy Café to get one. When I explained that I had been told up there that I couldn’t get anything from them takeaway, the young woman offered to go get one for me. They were both very sweet and I apologised for my previous grumpiness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the trouble. The cheese toastie and fries were served in a cardboard tray. The toastie was on “cheap white bread” according to my partner. I didn’t taste it. The fries and the milkshake however, were excellent. My scone was dry, cold and crumbled into breadcrumb texture when I tried to spread some butter on it. The crumb was impossible to pick up and eat but my dog liked it. It wasn’t worth eating for me as it then began to rain and we had to head for the car. I can’t help but think that the very cheerful, welcoming and upmarket website promises more than it delivers.
