Turquoise Restaurant & Bar in Stockport

We were gobsmacked just how busy the restaurant was on a Tuesday lunchtime. Pretty much full. Perhaps everyone was there for the same reason we were there – the excellent set menu available at lunch and priced at £14.95 for two courses. Plenty of choice, taken from the main menu and, seemingly, no paring back in portion size. A decent enough houmous to start, with flatbreads for scooping up. And the “hot mezze” - crisp cheese borek, falafel (light as you like), slice of helim and another of sucuk. It comes with salad, cacik and a ferocious chilli sauce. For mains, a well made and very tasty vegetarian moussaka - aubergine, courgette and potato, layered up with a good tomato sauce (with just a background hint of chilli) and béchamel. And simplicity itself, a chicken sis kebab. Both plates came with rice and salad. Definitely the best of the three Turkish places on the High Street, meaning we’ve really no need to go back to the other two.

Had the 2 course a la carte menu - starter if hot meze comprising helim, feta spinach parcel and falafel with sauces and salads was delicious! Main of turquoise chicken with rice, sauce and salad equally moreish! Good portion sizes and prompt friendly service. Will visit again ps don't miss their desert counter - the lotus cheesecake was yummy!

Called in on my mams birthday for coffee and cake. It was fairly busy but staff got a table ready for us very quickly and we ordered 3 coffees and 3 cakes from their counter display. Plenty of choice of cakes on offer and a decent coffee

We came for a small dinner together - as it was a bank holiday and neither of us wanted to cook! Initial impressions were good - clean, well laid out and polite staff. Service was smooth and polite and the food hot and well cooked. The hummus and the lamb were excellent and well seasoned , as was my wife's Meze and Moussaka. We decided to select cakes for dessert and take them home with us. Both the Baklava and the chocolate truffle were delicious. We will return!

Absolutely brilliant. Food was delicious and all freshly cooked. Service was outstanding. I had the roast lamb meal balls. Best meat balls I have every tasted. Sadly I couldn't manage a dessert 😕. The Turkish coffee was freshly brewed, hot and strong!! I live in North Yorkshire and visiting my sister in cheadle hulme. When I come over again a definite visit to Cappadocia is already on my calendar. Thank you for a very memorable fabulous meal.

Ive been to many mediterranean restraunts and had the choice of starter and main my wife and I had tonight. However the quality and attentiin paid to each dish definitely raises it to a level above. Loved the meal please keep the standards up guys, can't wait to come back and see if those cakes are as good as they look 😀

We were in Cheadle & called in for lunch. Superb choice, well priced, we shared the Delux Turkish Metze which was excellent, followed by a good strong coffee.

I have visited a few times for dinner and once now for breakfast and loved it every time. The service from the moment you walk in the door to when you leave is exemplary. All of the staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and are all so relaxed. I have reccommended the restaurant to many of my friends. The food is always excellent - hot, super tasty, more than enough and presented amazingly. The cakes are beautiful and strawberry and banana smoothie is the best smoothie I've ever had!

Having received a warm and friendly welcome, we were comfortably seated for a family lunch. There is a wide choice from the extensive menu. We chose the fixed 2 course option. This menu offers a good selection of starters, including both cold and hot choices. The main courses are really tasty with dishes including chicken, lamb and fish, so something to suit everyone. Naturally, non meat/fish plates are also available for vegetarians.

Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. Had a fabulous meal here last night with friends. The restaurant was very busy but service was not compromised. We eat here regularly both in the evening and at lunchtime and have never been disappointed.

This place just gets better great ambiance, the food is full of flavour and something for everyone, nice surroundings and the service just finishes off the excellence. We have been here on 3 occasions for breakfast, which we would highly recommend. The restaurant itself is bright, clean and airy. The service has always been excellent, waiting staff are very attentive. The English breakfast is delicious, fresh, well presented and good quality produce. Although I have not (yet) tried the cakes, they do look amazing! We can’t wait to go back and try the main menu.

We went to this place because adjoining restaurant let us down. Ardowan was gracious and very accommodating on a Saturday night. Food was great ( I am a very fussy eater), warm mezze plater and chicken Shis was amazing. We definitely recommend this place in cheadle

However, the owner told me to go upstairs and they would find a seat for me and explained there was a large party upstairs and that it could be noisy. He immediately got worried that the main course was not up to standard, but after I explained that the main course was extremely good, but that the starter was one of the best. If not the best, I have ever eaten a smile return to your face and we continue to have a conversation around around how long he had been in the restaurant, while I was waiting to pay a complimentary glass of Riki Was handed to me a gesture while welcome, was not required as getting the starter had made my night If you’re ever in the area, make a beeline to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed

I love this place, owner and waiters work extremely hard, and make you feel so welcome. We have become regulars here on a Saturday night , as the menu and food are great , nice and relaxing atmosphere and always look forward to every time we come here. My wife loves the Chicken sizzler on offer and has this every time and is addicted. I recommend the sizzlers , but my favourite are the lamb cutlets which are tasty and absolutely cooked perfect. The team here treat you excellent and I fully recommend this place if your looking for a bite to eat when we finish with a possecco we are not rushed. They do a morning menu which I will give this a try in the coming weeks. great place

This was my third meal at this restaurant. Again, the food was absolutely Delish!!!! We had the hot mezze starter and it was sooooo nice! The main courses were really really good too. This was my first visit to the Turkish Bistro. From the moment I stepped through the door,the staff were courteous and attentive. The lady I was with has visited many times previously.. We opted for the 2 Course lunch. Which was superb. And excellent value. I will definitely be visiting again. Very impressed.

We shared the mixed meze which we thought was really good value. Lovely mix of hot and cold items with lovely flat bread. We finished with the baclava which was lovely and fresh. We will definitely visit again.

The food was excellent the only thing we were disappointed with was the bread that was served was Mexican tortillas as Turkish flat bread please change this we did not expect this as the food was excellent seems such a small thing to put right you know Turkish flat bread is so much better

Popped in here in a lunch break from work and decided to have the 2 course lunch which seemed like great value. I ordered the mixed started which was very nice but had to ask for a couple of dips and was trying to get eye contact from the waitress for what seemed like ages before I could actually ask for something. I then ordered the Lamb Shish which looked like 2 burgers on a plate with some rice and side salad. The quality of the meat was good and a liked it was pink in the middle but it was under seasoned and I didn’t taste any spices. Asked for the bill and they charged me £3 for HALF a Diet Coke!!! I asked if this is correct and they said yes. Wow so £6 for a pint of Diet Coke that’s not the best way to charge I feel

Good range of sandwiches and more for a lunch time selection. The have a great range of cakes on display along with all the usual coffees. Staff are great. Really nice interior and kept very clean.

Under slightly different ownership arrangements, this is the rebranded Turquoise which has been a mainstay of Cheadle’s High Street for years. There’s still a solid offering starting with breakfast (including the “Full Turkish”) through daytime sandwiches and cakes then into a full restaurant menu for the evening. Thankfully, they still have their two course set menu during the early part of the week which, at £17.95, is a bargain in anyone’s book. And there’s decent choice on that menu – eleven starters and a similar number of mains, picked from the main menu offerings. And there’s no cutback on portion size – so you won’t be going away thinking about getting a bag of chips on the way home. Service is hospitable, as you sort of expect from Eastern Mediterranean places. So, from the set menu, there were falafels for one of us. Nice texture with a little hint of spice. They come with a spoonful of cacik and another of houmous. The other starter was their “hot mezze” (there’s a cold which is also nice) – falafel, cheese borek, slice of sucuk sausage and another of hellim, together with some of the cacik, a very pokey chilli sauce and a little mixed salad. For mains, there was kulbasti – thin slices of chargrilled lamb. It’s difficult to get the cooking right for something so thin and I thought they were a tad overcooked (although I am nit-picking here). It comes with rice and salad. And, served separately, more cacik, chilli sauce and a little jug of a tomato based sauce which moistened things nicely. Seabass was OK – two fillets, plainly grilled and served with new potatoes and mixed vegetables. Nothing Turkish about the plate (except more cacik) but nice enough. A pleasant midweek dinner.

In normal times, Turquoise has quite an extensive and varied menu, taking in quite a number of Italian (and Italianesque) dishes alongside Turkish ones. Now reliant on takeaway and home delivery, it’s pared back to its roots and now just offers a number of mainly Turkish dishes. Ordering was straightforward and payment was cash on delivery (we’re in isolation, so put it in an envelope pinned to the front door). And delivery was quick – 30 minutes or so. Tabule was decent enough. Not as much parsley as you’d get in a Lebanese version and it certainly needed much more lemon. If that was a minor disappointment, none was needed with the other starter of aubergine salad (patlikan salatsi). This was outstanding . Long cooked aubergine and tomato, so that it formed almost a thick sauce. Perfect for scooping up with the flatbreads that came with the meal. You’ll find versions of this dish in Lebanese restaurants where it’s called makmour but this one was really excellent. Best thing we ate.For main courses, we both ordered their “sizzler” dishes (perhaps the only things on the reduced menu that are not specifically Turkish). One lamb, the other vegetables. There’s strips of peppers, onions, mushrooms, mangetout and, for the lamb one, thin pieces of meat. It comes in a thick, slightly sweetish sauce with a background hit of chill, accompanied by a generous portion of rice. We liked this but both thought that the presentation and taste felt something a bit like a Chinese stirfry where hoisin sauce is used. A bit odd – but in a good way.We’ll certainly be using them again during the lockdown.

The hummus and other dip were excellent, but the hot starters less so with the exception of the cheese pastry which was very good. The accompanying sauces were very tasty. The lamb sis was good, nicely cooked tender lamb finishing off a good tasty meal

Myself and my wife had a lovely meal on new years eve 2019 the food is of very high standard along with the choice of wines, the service you receive is 110% plus. The Manager is a great guy who is 150% committed to delivery of exceptional customer service and this reflects in the excellent customer service his staff deliver .

My wife and I have been to this restaurant about 5 years ago and thought it was okay and have never been back since. We returned back again there yesterday evening with a friend for an evening meal. I wasn't sure about going to begin with but having had a very pleasant evening there I was very impressed. The decor has obviously changed and it now has a very pleasant atmosphere in a lovely clean environment. The service was very good and the waiters and waitresses were very pleasant. The food which was very hot was very nice and reflected a wide selection of things on the menu. We had a lovely evening and will be going back soon. Well worth a visit.

We were hungry at an odd time of the day and visited for a light meal. The staff were very friendly, if a little confused, by our request and the kitchen was open throughout the day. The food was very good and interestingly different for our pallet. Portion sizes were a little small (we only had two starters each).

Not one of them cracked a smile, slow with the food and taking plates away considering it was quiet. Guy on the door couldn't be bothered and didn't smile once.

Been going in the turquoise for many years all ways enjoyed the serves and the food in my last three visits I think the serves and the Quality of the food has gone down the last time we went we had booked a table ( two weeks prior ) and asked pacifically to sit downstairs on arrival we where taken upstairs and had to argue to sit downstairs witch we had booked in advance not a good start to the evening serves very haphazard and in my opinion food not as good as it used to be
