Turk's Head in Suffolk Coastal

Went to this place for the first time and were staggered by the fabulous welcome, the attentive staff and the wonderful food cooked to our exact wishes. After a recent Deben Inns experience (that was so terrible) it was nice to have staff that wanted to check on customers and our enjoyment. The gluten-free option for my wife was excellent and the little caring extras went down very well. Thank you for making our day out as a family. WELL DONE!!

Tonight we visited for a meal for my partners 30th. I am still so shocked by the experience. We ordered food at 8.30pm, by 9.30pm my partner still didn’t have his starter and no one had spoken to us. My partner had enough and went up to pay for the drinks and leave only to be told the food was nearly ready and there had been an ‘incident.’ So we waited another ten minutes and our food arrived. No starter and my main I thought I’d double check it was gluten free as I’d asked as the bun looked like a normal bun. The waitress then said it wasn’t and the actual burger wasn’t either. By this point we really had enough. This is so poor. If I’d have eaten this burger I’d have really suffered. You really need to sort this out!! This used to our favourite pub. Looks like it’s not anymore.

Booked in for lunch. Half of the menu wasn't available. Told they needed to play catch up because they're closed Monday & Tuesday. Really disappointing. We ate an average sharing board then left. Won't be going back.

We went for a roast with my son & hes girlfriend. Food was lovely & well presented. Staff were attentive, friendly & nothing was too much trouble. Shout out to Sam, Phoebe & Harry. An issue was dealt with by the management very efficiently & professionally. Definitely going back, highly recommend. Thank you 😊

The Turks Head is a much loved pub by myself and my partner, however, since the change in management and chef we will not be returning. It has gone really horrendously down hill. The starters were okay but the garlic prawns were cooked in so much chilli you could barely eat them and the duck main was overcooked, dry and almost grey in colour. It had clearly been cooked previously and reheated but quite badly, my partners chicken was the same, dry and overcooked, such a shame as previously the quality here was top notch, I asked the server of the chef had changed and was told that yes he had and in fact all the previous staff had been ‘sacked’ which I thought was poor taste and clearly a bad decision. Would not be returning and completely gutted this gem of a pub has been ruined.

Fantastic Visit to this Fantastic Country Pub . The Service was Amazing especially from Sam in Restaurant who was Very On Ball , we did not have to wait long before a drink order was taken and was promptly served , for us to enjoy while making our Dinner choices . I myself had the Steak and Ale pie which was 10/10 and my two friends both had chicken supreme which looked lovely to . After our mains we were given menus to look at desserts but given plenty of time to have a rest and make our choices . I had chocolate Dome which was very nice and my two friends had sticky toffee pudding. In all a VERY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE We will be back 100%

We expected a nice meal - early Sat evening v poor selections, three meals not available, no specials, pies microwaved, steak indescribable. Nearly left after a three prawn starter on salad with stale bread. Evening dinner menu itself looks like what you would find in a roadside cafe. Shocking.

Held our wedding meal here on the December 21st, and can’t rate it highly enough. Food was absolutely fantastic, hot and tasty. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Simon the manager organised everything for us. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back!

Well apparently changed hands trying to build the reputation again. Speak as we find really nice pub we visited sat lunchtime was very welcoming assistant manager served us he was very nice couldn’t do enough and made our visit very pleasant . Food was very nice . Pub is in a very petty spot looked very festive . views lovely We will revisit as not far from us . A little gem.

After seeing the latest reviews for October we were not sure about booking a family Xmas meal for 14 of us, but the new management had taken over and we were the first to use the restaurant so said let’s give a try. We were welcomed by new manager and shown to our table and asked what we would like to drink, all of us had pre ordered our meal and when they arrived everyone had a first class 5 star meal and the deserts where of same standard. So I would advise people to go a have a meal there and you will not be disappointed. Do not take any notice of old reviews as that was the old management.

I saw that there has been a few past bad reviews for here but since Sam and his team have taken over we have had the best experience. We visited on 30th November as a group of 12 for a suprise birthday and the service was brilliant, everyone was so accommodating and friendly. The food was beautiful, I couldn’t fault it. It was also their opening night and we got a glass of Prosecco included (they even did orange juice for the kids). The actual restaurant was stunning and super Christmassy! Good luck with your new ventures I’m sure it will be very successful :)

Absolute shambles. Full restaurant with a Manager who had to drive from Milton Keynes, the Chef was just a stand in friend, and one waitress to serve everyone! What a disgraceful way to treat staff - Managent, you should be thoroughly ashamed! They were working really hard and were so polite trying to hold it together. Food served to one table during our entire visit. Needless to say, we and others left after 45 minutes.. Such a shame, we are locals and love our pub, but this Management are ruining it. Perhaps it's their plan tho so they can just sell it for profit. Disgraceful.... and sad.

The Turks Head was one of the best pub/restaurants in the area before Covid. The owners sold to a chain who now run the restaurant. The setting is amazing but that is literally the only good thing about it! The service was terrible and the food was ‘disappointing’. Avoid, there are much better places to eat locally!

So disappointed, my significant other booked to take me there for Sunday lunch as it was my birthday. He had been told it was an award winning pub!!!!!! We arrived 20 minutes early and was shown to a table in a corner on its own by the bar, which had not been wiped down from previous users. We were given the menu and the young waitress came back about 10 minutes later to take drink order, i ask for rhubarb gin and she went to get a drinks menu.We waited for ages when eventually the manager came over to take our drink order. The food was good but the service was absolutely awful. We finished our drink before our main came but no one came to take another order. We decided not to have a dessert and left to find a pub where we COULD get a drink. Needless to say my birthday meal was a wash out.

Dreadful experience, the food, the atmosphere nothing to say good about it sadly. Would never go again. Very disappointed as we had been recommended it a few months ago.

Not sure when The Turks Head turned into Faulty Towers. Table wasn’t ready when we arrived, dirty plates etc, but restaurant was almost empty. Drink and food service was so slow, food was cold for 8/10 of us, poor young waitress was trying her best but management couldn’t care less. Drinks orders wrong, beef was tough and chicken could’ve been a door wedge. Had to ask for new cutlery when new food came out. It was empty in there, we were the only table there on a Sunday 4pm and when we left at 7pm they closed and locked the doors! What’s going on? Only roasts available on a Sunday, I know they are popular but no alternatives at all? We were just abandoned at the end of the meal, no offer of more drinks, teas, coffees, nothing. Clearly gone downhill with new ownership, will not return.

First time eating there and as a Chef in the industry myself and considering from overhearing complaints from a table next to us which seemed very unjustified, there was a shortage of staff in the kitchen and the resturant filled up very quickly, the service was excellent and attentive as they could under slight pressure we were a table of 5 on 5 at 1, the food was delicious and along side drinks all served in a timely manner if there were mistakes made I still wouldn't fault it, will definitely reccomend and hope to return in the future, thank you to all the staff that served us from the bar to the floor staff (sorry to Natalie our main server for getting you to list all the beers you could and then choose one of the 1st 3) on that note it showed great humour from each the staff that bounced off us all.

Visited The Turks head this afternoon for a family birthday. I have to say the food was great, staff very helpful and attentive. I would like to add the Prawn and Crayfish cocktail was lovely, and despite the complaints of the lady on the adjacent table that would not let it go, it did have crayfish in it….

Disappointing. This pub has declined since our last visit last year, perhaps as a result of new ownership (an investment company called Red Cat) trying to squeeze more money out of their investment. Unlike previously, a limited menu, ordered salmon which was nice enough but not all the ingredients listed on menu were on the plate. Poor options for vegetarians and vegan. The food is standard pub food which is probably bath cooked and heated to serve. Not the good quality home cooked gastro-pub food of the past. Staff were fine, if not that competent, and it's a really nice setting. We were really looking forward to this return visit but Ordinary Punter won’t be returning until the food is of a better standard.

after hearing such good things, we booked a family meal for 11 at 1pm after being told that was the best time they could do, we ordered and everything seemed okay, the roast beef that was priced at £19 came with two over cooked roast potatoes, half a roast parsnip and half a roast carrot, the green veg that came with it came out 11 minutes after the main course (in that time everyone who had roast beef had finished) along with the fish and chips and halloumi that was ordered, bit of a shambles considering we were told 1 was that best time that they could do.
