My wife and I have been to Turkey and she loves Lamb - so this was my choice of 'somewhere different' for us to go last night for our wedding anniversary meal. I checked first and so knew what I was getting into - this is not cheap dining - but the full Turkish experience - and it does come at a cost. The restaurant is nice and comfortable and well laid out and well staffed - the 'kitchen' area is visible to the customers so you can see your dinner being prepared. Looking at the menu - well, it might as well be written in Turkish - I had no idea what I was eating for the majority of the time, but that is my failure not theirs.... The food was refreshingly different, tasty and there was plenty of it - if you go home hungry then you have a very healthy appetite... It is mainly Lamb and chicken, rice, bulgur wheat and salad with flat bread and sauces - mind some of the 'salsa' as it can be quite spicy... Good portion sizes and tastefully served. Dessert menu is deceptive. Only a few choices - but they do cover quite a spectrum and when your choice arrives you are in for more surprises - I had the strawberry cheesecake and I can tell you theirs is different - not your bulk buy store bought cheesecake - theirs is either quality bought or home made - the texture is different but the taste is great. Add to that a nice cocktail and a smart wine list to top and tail the meal and I can tell you we left content.

Such an amazing restaurant. Amazing food, amazing staff and Yakup is outstanding. Great music, ambience and as a lover of Turkey, it was honestly not only an incredible meal but an incredible night out.

Just had the most amazing meal at this beautiful place this evening. The staff from start to finish were very welcoming, accommodating and friendly having taken my two young children to. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you are in the area. Portions are very generous. Will certainly be making a second trip there soon. Thanks to all the team at Turkoman 👏👍

Wow! We came here to celebrate a birthday. The staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They brought out a sparkler on a dessert for our daughter's birthday. The food was plentiful and tasty and it was really busy even though we arrived early in the evening. Thank you to the waiters who really made our daughter's evening a special one. Would definitely go again and would recommend this place.

Wow wow wow. Superb food and quality.. very reasonable priced and a good selection of drinks. The plates were filled and seasoned beautifully. The lamb beyti was tender and cooked to perfection, as was the chicken beyti. Nothing was left on our plates and we were very full by the end.. The salad had a beautiful dressing to it. I gave a £8 tip to round the bill off. Look forward to our return. Thank you for an amazing experience. . It was like being in Turkey.

Amazing. Sorry we didn't take photos. An amazing meal .The bread with dips was great and the starters. Main meal lamb with rice and salad beautifully prsented but the choice was massive. Couldn't eat a thing afterwards and then gave us tea and Turkish delight for free. Oh and not to mention my wife is disabled and they were amazing. Truly fantastic

Delicious food and good service at Turkoman. I had the lamb guvec in oven which was very tasty. Children enjoyed the kid’s menu chicken kebabs and chips.

My parents took me to this restaurant because they had visited before and knew the staff. I was immediately enchanted by the atmosphere and decorations. The establishment was impeccably clean and had a delightful aroma. The starters were prepared to perfection, particularly the halloumi, accompanied by complimentary bread with an assortment of sauces and olives. We ordered three chicken shish plates and a mixed shish plate. The chicken was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The service was warm and attentive. We even witnessed another table celebrating a birthday, with the waiters bringing a cake and singing Happy Birthday. This is one of the finest Turkish dining experiences I have had in the UK.

Excellent restaurant, parking just around the corner. Ordered starters and mains. Bread and dips come first, yummy. Starters hot prawns, calamari, and hot spicey sausage are all very tasty. Mains 3 lamb klefticos, and lamb and chicken kebab. Huge meal, oh, and rice with bulger wheat each and a very tasty salad to share came as well. So go very hungry. Totally recommend here

We were in Newmarket for the afternoon and liked the look of Turkoman. They were friendly and welcoming on entering and the restaurant was airy and comfortable. We ordered a mocktail, which was the best I have ever had, and the chicken sharing platter. It came with bread and dips. The salad was delicious and the chicken lovely. Very large plateful which we couldn’t quite finish. We will definitely go there again.

Absolutely fabulous food, surroundings and service. It was reasonably priced too. I had the kleftika that had the biggest lamb shank I've ever had. All the portions were very generous, even the biggest appetites would have been satisfied. The bread and mezes that they gave us were a lovely touch. It was such a lovely evening and I can't recommend it enough

Popped in for a cheeky lunch on a Tuesday, few people in here, but that was ok, staff great, food choice large, loved everything, wife likes Mediterranean food and wasn’t disappointed. Recommended, should have come here before, and will come again :)

Had a fantastic meal here with family. Everything was delicious from the halloumi starter to the mixed kebab main. The setting is also very nice, spacious with a chilled atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.

Food is pretty good, but atmosphere and stuff attitude was not great. They would just chat to each other, paid no attention to us. It felt like they would have preferred not to have us there.

It's beautifully decorated. The food is amazing and the staff are human! They stand and have a conversation with you, make jokes with you. Perfect for a girls night dinner!

Love Turkoman, on this occasion everyone enjoyed their meal, on a personal note...my salmon was well overcooked and dry. Fortunately everyone else had great meals. The staff are welcoming and accommodating, no problems there. We will go again.

Authentic Turkish food which is cooked well and tastes 👌 The adana wasn't bulky - which some places tend to - with good consistency and spice. The chicken wings had likewise good flavor. Bit of the pricey side but that's the cost-of-living crisis for you. 2 meals and 2 drinks cost us ~£45, but would highly recommend for a nice lunch/dinner. Lots of parking nearby at the station. Free parking available on some roads to the north, approximately 5 mins walk away (e.g., Doris Road).

My wife and I booked an early evening dinner at Turkoman Bar & Grill for a change, and having always been disappointed with other Turkish restaurants, we were slightly apprehensive. We were greeted in a most welcoming manner and seated in what was initially a quiet ambience, the noise levels, as with most restaurants, increased as more diners arrived and did not detract from our experience. The orders were taken, drinks and complimentary Flatbreads, Olives, and some dips were promptly given. We felt welcome and at ease with the pace and service throughout and when our mains arrived, the quality and taste was for us both, exquisite! Those who served us were consistent in service delivery and appropriate friendliness. At no point did we feel rushed and when the bill arrived we felt it represented great value for money. Highly recommended for couples , families and we would be happy to have a larger dinner party here. The decor and comforts and ambiance along with the exceptional service, hospitality and cuisine make this a gem for the area.

Had been recommended so paid a visit today (28th May), lunch for two and we weren't disappointed, pre starter bread with olives, garlic mayo and a spicy tomato dish was delicious but should of skipped my prawn starter as the helpings are very generous, main dish of fried liver and onion was also very good, great staff and sensibly priced will definitely visit again

I got the mixed shish grill. 10/10 recommend. I would say the lamb was slightly better then the chicken, but both were great.

This was a great wee find, it is owned by a Turkish Gentleman from Scotland. The restaurant is relaxed, comfortable with plenty of space for ever increasing waistbands, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is plentiful and exceptionally tasty, cooked in an open kitchen. The mixed starters were varied and really good, the Kebab Platter was truly excellent and the Baklava with coffee made a perfect end to the meal. If you are in Newarket do visit this restaurant you are guaranteed a warm welcome and tasty meal that will ruin the morning weigh in.

Despite a blip during opening weekend, I have gone back several times for the Turkomen special and each time it seems to get better. Well done and keep up the good work.

Came here for dinner after reading the great reviews but we were disappointed. The main thing to let it down was that the service was poor - we waited 15 minutes before flagging down a waiter to get some drinks, same again for food order. We were squashed in the couple’s row where the tables are more like Ryanair seating than a restaurant, atmosphere is important and it’s not exactly a cramped cobbled street squeezing tables in. The waiters seemed to gravitate towards the same tables over and over which meant neglect for others. Food pushes the review to Okay – its nice but really nothing special some dishes were quite nice particularly the aubergine cold starter. Efes in Cambridges just does it better and the meats are more tasty. Unlikely to visit again.

Had a chicken shish and hubby had the eggplant dish. Very tasty and well presented dishes. Plenty of food too(we got to go boxes!). The atmosphere was very neat, clean, cozy, and elegant. The service was good.

Brilliant service and amazing food

This is a rare modern and positive, unpretentious restaurant with Turkish / Greek cuisine. There are a few Turkish restaurants in the Cambridge area, so one is familiar with the cuisine - but most of those are dark, low-ceiling, greasy-feel places - while this is open-plan, full of air, clean and friendly place. We've had a good laugh with waiters Mehmet and Ali, and the food was fast, clean and tasty. Shish kebabs were juicy, kleftico fell off the bone as it should, and their tsatsiki was the best I had for years. And we paid half of what we would have for a similar meal with drinks in a typical gastropub. Well done people!

A group of 10 of us went here Saturday night for dinner for what was meant to be a really special birthday. I recommended Turkoman as we are local and go there a lot, in the past they've been great. I was so embarrassed to have suggested this, it was the worst dining experience we've ever had. The staff really couldn't have cared less, we had to chase every single drink order with multiple staff, we sat there for over an hour without drinks and an uncleared table while new people came in and were served straight away. The guy who's birthday it was his dinner came without the sides, we flagged down two staff who said they'd get it, it never came so he only had half a meal. I brought a cake in to bring out at the end but after an hour when no one had cleared the table or come over in the end we gave up and I just asked for the cake back and took it home in a bag. Then, when we paid we were told the money was wrong so I had to go up and count it out in front of the staff to prove it was right (which it was). We came out with a colossal bill and really, really disappointed. I was shocked how bad the staff were, they just wanted to get the next table filled and were completely ignoring the ones already there.

Went there last night, we hadn’t booked was asked to wait at bar a table would be available in approx 15 minutes, approx half an hour later, a table was cleared we still waited, I reminded a member of staff we were waiting, he said you can have that table, whilst walking to the table another member of staff sat some customers who has just walked in. I said we was allocated that table and she just carried on with them and ignoring me. How rude she new we was waiting a while at the bar. IMHO an apology would have been nice rather than being blanked.

This place was soooo good! Ate as much as I could, but had to give up and pack next days lunch! The meats are perfect and the accompanying sides are bursting with flavor! Next time I visit I need save room for their coffee.
