Sumo Sushi in Forest Heath

Lovely little restaurant! We popped here after a morning at Lakenheath and was blown away by the quality of the food and service. The young man who greeted was incredibly polite, friendly and helpful and the food was so tasty and fresh. We will definitely be returning!

Friendly and attentive staff. The food was amazing- we had vegetable gyoza, miso soup, a selection of sushi and chicken and pork with rice. The ordering process was through menus on ipads and noting down on paper the item numbers - really good way to do it! Will definitely be back.

We were dining at Sumo Sushi yesterday for lunch time and for the first time. The place is small and it’s the only “negative” point if you want to say this, but this enhance more the traditional and authentic style of the place. A family business vibe, you will not think that you are at a restaurant but that there you are at home. We had different selections of Sushi and Gyoza; The food is freshly prepared and you can tell with no doubt how fresh the ingredients are. I have seen a family friendly atmosphere and friendly service. The quality and the price are fair! Everything was super delicious. I highly recommend and we will definitely dine at Sumo Sushi again! 🍣 🍱

We always enjoy our meals here when we are in the area. Dates or family meals it doesn't disappoint. Filling & fairly priced. Plus friendly staff. Our children enjoy the meals here too. I think we've been coming a few years now. Definitely a treat when we can have a meal here. Update 2024: still delicious; we unfortunately don't visit as often but the staff are as lovely as ever. Thank you for the amazing food & service.

I usually get my sushi delivered from Sumo Sushi so I can't know what the restaurant is like, BUT they're delivery service is wonderful and exceptional. It's always delivered on time. Their sushi is delicious and well made. If you live in the area it's well worth getting your sushi fix from Sumo Sushi!

Quite authentic. No frills just great food,nice pleasant service. Easy to over order as bigger portions than any Japanese street restaurant experienced before. Highly recommend and they do takeaway.

This is the best place to get sushi around here. They are very aware of all allergens and take it all very seriously. I have visited numerous occasions and I always get a very friendly service. They have an authentic oriental feel to the restaurant and have anime figures and posters in the entrance 😍 very highly recommend.

Cutest restaurant every, had amazing food. The staff was incredible and extremely sweet. They even had Soju which I was looking for everywhere. The food was to die for. The rates were reasonable and they accept card. Over all was an awesome place to go eat at!

Small quaint Sushi restaurant in the heart of Mildenhall. Sushi was fairly good, though the fillets of fish were small and lots of rice. Was not happy with prices not including VAT or a 10% service charge. We had 2 Miso soup, TOFU appetizer with 3 rolls each and was over £100! COVID impacts on a meal should not be a “thing” at this point.

I really love Sumo Sushi, I have been going there for years! However, I have to say it has always been expensive (understandably, a lot of times sushi is) but now they also add so many charges when ordering online such as for plastic packaging, for offering delivery, for tax, etc etc, then tips, plus you have to spend minimum £30 for delivery so often you might spend more than you really wanted. And I also think it's funny how their offers were 2% off! I think a minimum most places might offer is 10% off. Side salads are delicious but so pricey for the serving size you're given. And this is an issue with a lol of the dishes. They're delicious but I think portions should be bigger for the price. Places like Wagamama for example, you spend more but you get a large dish at least. Especially since some small rolls cost around £10 each for such tiny portions. I think I'd order more often if they changed this. Nevertheless, really tasty and fresh.

The food was alright, not outstandingly good for a Japanese restaurant. I have tried a lot better one in Suffolk in a better setting and cheaper price point. It is a takeaway add-on type restaurant which I did not expect to be too expensive. But when we got the bill, everyone at the table was surprised by 30% more than what is shown on the menu. We then noticed a 'polite notice' on the wall saying 20% VAT not included and 10% service charge not included. We are fine with 10% service charge but it is against the law that not showing the actual paid price of the food anywhere in a restaurant, nothing on the iPad menu or the menu at the entrance. We all felt utterly fooled after the dinner, especially on a Saturday day out. We have never seen anything like this before in the UK living 10+ years here. Ruined the day. I will start asking a restaurant about VAT now. Terrible experience.

Consistant food, but would love to see a katsu curry or Ramen eventually.

🤣🤣🤣 that is all I got i wanted to be served quick so they gave me a tub of rice with three dry chicken strips on for £10 even though I said give me £20 worth I took a couple of photos of the absolute atrocitie the place is I so wish I can put them on here I'm English I'm a chef and I could definitely do better than the trash I was given o but on a plus side the girl working on the till was absolutely amazing just very affried of the man in charge been a few times before never felt so neglected there as today but never seen it in such a mess either hopefully will have a tydie up and bring it back to life would be a shame to let it go

The food was tasty specially the sushi however the restaurant itself was untidy and honestly looked like a storage area. A little pricey.

Oh my gosh this food is so good. I have had many Japanese food, and this really made it taste like true home cook Japanese food. Extremely impressed.

Ordered for multiple people but they packed everything per order. When the food arrived it was already cold. The only thing I like about them is that they were accomodating when I asked them to change deliver location.

Hands down the best sushi in the MildenHeath area and all of Suffolk! It's a small venue so it's location isn't the best dine in experience for groups but if it's just you or just a couple it's perfect. And you can always take-away! They are very clean and detail oriented when it comes to the preparation of the food and often double check for possible allergies of their customers.

Our family of 4 chose this cute sushi place based on amazing reviews online. We know and love sushi but this restaurant was outrageously overpriced and it was not fresh. The staff was attentive and respectful but when our modest lunch bill arrived for over £100 (2 beers, no appetizers, modest portions/ split entrees w/ kids). We were extremely disappointed in the food quality and we left hungry. I felt sick! Not because of mediocre fish but mostly the ridiculous price (surprise! 20% VAT + 10% service charge will be added to your bill). We will NEVER eat here again. Shame on the good reviews, I felt duped!

Honestly I fell in love with this sushi and drink. The ingredients are so flavourful the delivery driver so friendly and helpful. I am definitely coming back again. One thing I would love to see is possibly meal options Example- Meal for one: 8pc, salad, miso soup/or drink £20 And so on it only a suggestion but you guys are amazing 👏

While the exterior of this food outlet isn’t suggestive, the sushi was easily comparative to that served in Michelin star restaurants. We ordered three 8 pc sushi dishes and were served within 10 minutes, with the ordering process simple and the staff incredibly attentive. I would heartily recommend this restaurant for sushi lovers.

Had a lovely Valentines meal, a huge choice and very tasty. Inside of the restaurant could do with a little improvement/refurbishment. But the service was very quick and the lady serving us was lovely.

Very polite staff and the food presentation is nice. Very modern iPad menu and the venue is warm and comfortable. The sushi tasted a little below average. Wasn't terrible but wasn't great. Don't take my word for it though. Everyone has different experiences and may you may enjoy the food more than I did.

The "sushi" rice used was not good. The rice was undercooked. Still hard and not seasoned at all. The fishes was ok.

Absolutely love this place- the chefs are amazing - the sushi is just as good as I’ve had in San Francisco, Australia and Japan. So glad it’s so close and now you can order online easily.

Cracking food. Our 7yr daughter's choice as she loves susi. Tried loads of different dishes, all were yummy.

Why are you charging a mandatory tip of 20% when I'm ordering online? Who exactly an I tipping? Am I paying the delivery driver, even though I live withing the "free" delivery zone? Don't get me wrong, I love your food, but this was a big disappointment.

After being advertised this place endlessly on social media my wife and I drove there from Cambridge. It really was a waste of our time. The fish was fresh but the sushi on the whole was average at best. The place itself is not nearly as nice inside as the photos lead you to believe. The waitrons while friendly were not properly trained.

Food wasn't to bad although got a bad stomach directly after eating here. Looks a little dirty inside. Also Slightly over priced. I Came in here to help local businesses get back to normal after lockdown using the government eat out scheme. I can't actually believe businesses are trying to pull scams using this. Adding on vat after the discount has been applied even though prices on the menu include vat and the discount is the total price inclusive of vat. This was quickly reversed when pointing out this fact but how many other unsuspecting customers have they pulled this trick on. Not only ripping off the customer but the government as well. The response to my comment below also makes me laugh. I didn't mention service charge at all. They tried to add vat on top of the price which is clearly a scam. So vat and service charge was added adding almost 25 to the bill. When questioned this was quickly removed.

Sumo Sushi is hands down the best sushi spot in East Anglia. Their rolls are perfect. Their fish is so fresh. The tempura prawns have the most perfect batter. The owner Mandy couldn’t be a sweeter person if she tried. The restaurant doesn’t look much from the outside but I promise, the food is fabulous.

We make great sushi at home but for something really special we go to Sumo Sushi. We really like the spicy sushi, which is unique to them.

Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the UK. Clearly freshly prepared to order and big portion sizes for the price. The staff were so friendly and lovely too. Will definitely be back when we are next in Suffolk. Keep up the great work.

Just adding to what I have said in the past! I went vegan some months back, and have found that my experience with Sumo is uninterrupted as they have a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options and rolls! My fiancé and I love this place! I go in here very often, and it is hands down my favourite sushi restaurant! Good food and impeccable service.

My wife and I have eaten at Sumo Sushi about once a month for the past few years, and it's our go-to place for sushi. Kind wait staff and excellent food.

Sumo Sushi has fresh sushi with friendly staff! Consistently great food and there is a wide variety to select from. You can dine in, take out or they deliver.

The rolls are fantastic in taste but I have gotten food poisoning from here more than once. It's a shame because the food is delish and they have a stamp card reward program. I have returned after getting sick, but I am always very careful to check the smell and taste of my food. The staff are extremely friendly.

Was here a few years ago anx it was great... But it's gone downhill since then...

Its a bit basic but the food is 10/10 service 10/10 and AMAZING value for money . Will be going back asap . Sushi lovers really should visit !!!!

it was a really great sushi place for the area, and my partner and I would order every month or so, however, the last time couple of times we’ve ordered it’s been quite poor. Had this been the first time we’d ordered I would probably have this as a 1 star review. My advice would be to step it up a bit, don’t send people sushi with fish that clearly isn’t fresh, vegetables that are browning and food that is soggy. For the prices being charged a lot more was expected. We may return but it is unlikely because the last order was £60 and we threw away 70% of it. In hindsight I wish I took some pictures, sadly I did not.
