Everything we ate was delicious, and the pistachio ice cream was divine! There were plenty of staff on so we had lots of attention but were not at all rushed even though it was very busy. We really enjoyed our experience and would definitely return.

The food was very tasty and we enjoyed it. Book in advance... it was very busy and with no reservation we we have struggled. Popularity in itself is a good pointer to quality

This place is my absolute favourite restaurant in Durham. So far every visit everything has been so tasty and always cooked to the same standard, as well as very speedy service. The two course lunch deal also makes it amazing value for money. I highly recommend the chicken shish, hummus, lamb kofte and the beetroot starter. The pinot grigio was also delicious!

Never been to Durham before so was unsure where to eat. Read good reviews about the Turkish Kitchen so thought we'd give it ago. Booking was very easy and reconfirmed 24hrs before which was reassuring. We arrived 15 mins early but it wasn't an issue, our table was ready. The service was really quick and the staff where friendly but not intrusive. The food was really tasty and the portion sizes where good. The Turkish Tea was great. The price was very reasonable. Overall we had a great authentic Turkish meal and a lovely dinning experience. We would recommend

Beautiful food and great service

I had lentil soup and Turkish bread, the lentil soup must be one of the best soups that I've ever had. for the main I had the mixed kofte... Wonderful. My wife had the white bait for starter and the chicken shish, once again wonderful.

When we arrived (walk-in), we were treated with amazing hospitality. The staff were friendly and easy to speak to, we were given a table within seconds of arriving, a lively, beautiful atmosphere with good music, food came with perfect timing, and staff were very helpful. We ordered 4 mains and 6 drinks, yet we were served a starter of bread and dips whilst we wait, turkish delights with the bill, and even baklava! I have never been so impressed with the service of a restaurant, never mind the food! Absolutely delicious, and portion sizes were perfect. Would recommend to anyone staying in Durham!

Fantastic! Dropped in for a solo dinner, had some proper karniyarik absolutely smothered with beef, and a very generous side portion of olives. Delicious!

Looking for somewhere for lunch in Durham and we decided to try the Turkish Kitchen. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and efficient and the lunch menu was good value for money.

We had a wonderful time here; the food was beautifully cooked, the service was great and the staff were really friendly. The kleftico was really tender and the portion was generous, my Ali Nazik chicken was outstanding. All of the starters were ordered were great too.

You look at the reviews sometimes and think can it be that good and the answer is absolutely YES .Ive eaten some good Turkish cuisine over the years and this place ranks highly Food was outstanding , had the mixed grill and everything was succulent and well seasoned .service was excellent and very speedy .

Been 4 times now at different times of the day. No booking and fitted in each time. The service and food are superb and the beer is ice cold. Infact as cold as my exes heart..

Absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in until we left, everything was spot on. We were greeted straight away and taken to a good sized table. Once we ordered, the food came out in good time, and I must say it tasted amazing! The set out and ambience was really appealing. The service was perfect, everyone was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back and absolutely recommend eating here.

A fantastic find in the middle of Durham, a great family run restaurant, serving the most delicious authentic Turkish cuisine. It was a first visit and we’re definitely going to return. Particularly enjoyed the Al nazik lamb kebab with smoky aubergine oh my, AMAZING 😋😍 we also had the Kalamari to share and breads, hummus and other tasty bites , and the spicy chicken pot, prices are great value for high quality beautifully prepared cuisine. Had a 40year reunion booked her last Saterday, food very tasty, large menu to suit all. Prices very reasonable. definately a place i shall be booking the next visit to Durham

the portions are enormous so you might just want to skip starters and head straight to mains! the ali nazik kebab has to be my favourite thing of all time on the menu, i have never eaten a more juicy, tender, succulent and flavourful lamb ever. And the smoky aubergine, yoghurt and garlic just complimented the meat very well. special mention to the kleftico and karniyarik which was amazing, i couldn’t find any faults with it either. left with a very full and happy belly, completely worth the money.

What a fantastic place!!!. Our first visit, but will most certainly not be our last. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection, the presentation of dishes was excellent. The meze starter is huge, but is a great way to enjoy a variety of flavours. The main course : Lamb Kofte through to Beef Moussaka were equally tantalising.

An excellent evening. Plenty of variety in the menu, all done well. Can't fault it.

This place does the best Falafel I have EVER tasted. GORGEOUS food, quick and friendly service and lovely relaxing music. Absolutely SUPERB! And at a really decent price aswell!

Called in for lunch - glad we did it was excellent. The food was superb as was the atmosphere too. Staff were very friendly and super efficient but without making you feel rushed. Can highly recommend the Moussaka and the Chicken Shish - delicious. Would recommend highly.

Arrived in Durham after driving all day, tired and hungry we fell upon this gem. The service was wonderful and the food divine! Could not fault our experience!

The food,service and hospitality was absolutely wonderful. All of the food was perfectly prepared, delicious mezze,grilled fish and meats! Hikmet and his entire staff provided the finest attention to detail to make this a most memorable dining experience. We ate there three times and each time was such a treat! We look forward to returning to The Turkish Kitchen.

My friend and I ate here on a day trip to Durham. What a find! The food was superb, we both had chicken shish, preceded by delicious hummus and tabbouleh and a bottle of rose The staff were so lovely and friendly, but not overly so. Would definitely go again, one hundred percent , thankyou for a great experience .

The three of us had a delightful meal experience. The restaurant is delightfully decorated. The vegetarian meals were excellent. We had the moussaka and falafel. Service was swift. Look forward to eating here again.

Ordered Adana Kebab with a group of friends. The rice was OK, meat lacked salt and spices. In addition to that there was a nasty looking manager, he introduced himself as Alex. His behaviour was rude, unprofessional and unwelcoming. As a whole, the customer service was terrible. We waited nearly an hour to get the seat. This place is a disgrace to restaurant industry and Turkish cuisine as a whole.

3rd visit to this place, the food is really tasty, well cooked. The breads are a little hit and miss but that's all, reasonably priced and swift, professional service. Be aware, the mixed grill is enormous so no need for starter ..

Would recommend the sea bass from mains menu. Delicious. Compared to the other dishes people in my party ordered, mine was definitely the most tasty, filling and best value.

The lamp kofta and the Ali Nazik dishes were quite tasty both the meat and other ingredients. We also loved the high ceiling and the atmosphere overall. Friendly staff, and the fast service are the other pros.

Went on a Saturday evening The atmosphere was amazing The food was sublime I had the shared meal for 2 as a starter between 6 and it was plenty of food for an appetiser and absolutely delicious For my main I had chicken shish which it’s hard to describe how nice it was. The flavours and how it was cooked was perfection All 6 of us were blown away by the food. 3 chicken shish all amazing Beef mousaka amazing Lamb amazing Mixed kofta amazing Baklava is the best! Pistachio ice cream was a Sunday not just a single scoop as we all thought it would, and it was amazing! Just such a lovely meal, it’s hard to put into words

Very expensive for the small portions you get. 17 pounds for mixed shish which is 4 or 5 small cubes of meat. The desserts are very stingey an expensive too. There is no male toilets but there is female toilets, this really isn't fare or acceptable. Would not recommend, the place is half empty an there's a reason, portions sizes don't match expensive price

Lovely restaurant, great menu, lots of choice. The sharing meze plate is great value, very delicious! Staff were very friendly. Good value. No parking outside, except for drop off, and no vehicular access, without a permit, during the day.

This place is worth a visit. First of all, the service stands out -you feel welcomed when you come in, the waiters look smart, friendly but not too much in your face. Tip isn't automatically included, so mention it when you pay if you feel they deserve it. I tried white Turkish wine and it was perfect! (for around £25 a bottle) Should have ordered something from the grill, but going for a safe choice of spicy lamb stew was, well, too safe- turkish curry was well made but a bit boring if you are used to indian. My friend found her happy dish -staffed aubergine. Our first impression was they economised on side rice, but no, actually for both of us that amount was just right. Scout points for not wasting food! I didn't like the thin steel pans they use to serve the stew, they get cold very quickly. At 6 there wasn't many in the restaurant. But at 7 it almost filled up. Definetly would return.
