I ordered a delivery last night (Sunday) and timing was spot on, food lovely (chicken, fries and coleslaw) , service excellent

Food was amazing fresh piping hot and delivered on time!👌👍

I'm very disappointed you use to offer more of a range of food. IV come on to order my usual a mixed platter and sausage and chips for the kids and you don't have any of them available any more. And prices have gone up for kids meals.

Belly pork was thick of unusual it’s normally thin and you get about six or seven strips. I only got three and it was just not good but that’s personal preference as a Wife keeps telling me Also, they forgot the corn on the carb again still didn’t get an extra like I was promised so third time lucky I will order it again. Overall it was still nice but chips are very nice gonna cob when you get it is very nice I need to go back to the thin strips of belly pork it’s out of this world

peri salted chips were covered in dry powder that made them inedible and regular chips weren’t much better, chicken burger had one tiny piece of chicken in it?? and corn on cob was dry and sopping wet. ordered for my mam’s birthday & was a complete let down

Tried Hot Rooster for the first time tonight. Wow is an understatement, reasonably sized portions for a great price. The wife had lemon herb chicken breast with chips and salad, I had hot piri piri half chicken with chips and coleslaw Chicken was moist, full of flavour and the hot piri piri packed a good heat punch. Definitely recommended for take out.

I ordered via JustEat, it's really decent chicken, coleslaw and chips are excellent too. Really good value for money given the price of chicken these days. Fast delivery too.

I'm reviewing the food from delivery order. It was an amazing surprise. I ate the burger, my wife the pork on a roll and they were super delicious. Obviously gonna repeat soon but next wanna try dine in.

Ordered here in 2020 and the chicken wraps were great. Had one a few weeks ago and it was relativley plain, seems like the quality has dropped a little.

Everything cold again and missing corn on the cob, coleslaw was like vinegar, chips were cold and soggy Belly pork was cold This happened last time but I thought id give them another chance as they blamed new staff Never ordering again Damn shame they started off so good I’d give no stars if I could, didn’t even care my food was cold just said it was cooked fresh Goodbye

Ordered tonight meat brown and red not properly cooked and chips like cardboard unedable nasty disgrace this was not food

I have ordered take out with my family twice. Each time they have forgotten sides which we paid for. First time we let it slide, second time isn’t acceptable. They gave us the wrong side for one of the meals so blatantly didn’t listen when we ordered. When you’re paying £50 for a take away and have a list receipt is it really that hard to get right? Good by local standards yes but come on!

First time here Wonderfully tasty 😊 arrived safely, timely hot and fresh! Small mix up with a side item 🤔 but with a quick call their friendly customer service 🌟 they sorted it out and had it delivered straight away 👍 will definitely be ordering here again

This place is amazing!! I rarely try this sort of takeaway but wow. Best takeaway I've been to. Have tried lots of different things on the menu and enjoyed them all but...... I'm sorry nandos I won't be visiting you anytime soon😂 I can't get over just how good the chicken is. The chips are fresh and seasoned. No freezer food here. If you can fit in a dessert the cheesecakes and Brownies top it all off. Absolutely delicious.

What’s what, order arrived late , tray of greasy meat , couldn’t make out belly pork, think they were the 2 slices of what looked like bacon , skin on potatoes were soggy , binned them , could have saved £17 and bought a kebab,, £4 was delivery charge, won’t be ordering again

I ordered food from here a couple of weeks ago, I asked what time it would be ready and I was there to pick it up on time. When I got it home the food was cold, had ordered corn and was charged £2 for half an ear of corn, which was overcooked and slimy. The only thing that was edible was the chicken. Total waste of money, Will not be using it again

Couldn't have faulted the food we ordered. Bit of a delay but due to being understaffed that is understandable. Not much of a delay and well worth the wait!

Five stars first to this restaurant being one of the rare ones opening on a Sunday (yes Bishop Auckland is so dead on a Sunday!!!). The front of the shop may not look appealing but the food is not your ordinary kebab shop. It's more Nandos style chicken. So yes I think eating in is better than takeaway which can make the food a lot worse than dining in fresh out the grill. The sauce, presentation and quality of chicken are all very satisfactory! Just under a tenner for what I had.

Hot, fresh, tasty chicken and pork. What more can I say. The food tastes fresh, intensely flavoured with spicy piri piri and fresh cut chips. Great value for money too.

All sides were missing from our order and the food that did arrive was cold. First and definitely last time I'll be ordering from here.

First time at The Hot Rooster and definitely not the last. The food was fantastic. We had the Platters for one and all was cooked to perfection. Quick delivery and amazing food!

Have used them a number of times and has always been consistently good. Best place to get chicken in town, just wish they were open more often. Having a night off is simply not allowed!! :)

Totaly vile, mixed plater was either over cooked or under cooked.. Was served in water? Disgusting food, never again.. Oh and although advertised free delivery I was charged 3 pound delivery.... Avoid at all costs..

First time at hot rooster. Wow!!!!! I never review anything.but food tonight was Fabulous. We had prego ciabatta with cheese and garlic. Hot butterfly chicken platter with spicy rice and salad and a portion of skin on Fry's. All food piping hot and ultra yummy.will defo be back 😋😁

Had the butterfly Piri Piri chicken and I was absolutely over the moon with it , from the time I ordered it to being on my plate was a matter of minutes, the food was fantastic freshly coocked and the aroma of the Portuguese flavours were immense

Fantastic authentic portuguese grill, so much so , a half hour drive is well worth to pickup lunch and the food was still piping hot when I arrived home. Will visit plenty of times, only for piri piri chicken lovers, who knows, knows! Try the bifanas, they are to die for!

Update: I recently ordered food for delivery and it was absolutely delicious, the food was delivered quickly despite nearby roadworks. I recently dined in the restaurant with friends. The staff were lovely, allowing us to stay past closing as we’d arrived quite late. The food was absolutely delicious, I’d recommend it to everyone. Reasonably priced, and decent portions. The restaurant offers eat in and takeaway options. When selecting your dish you can choose the spice level for the marinade, with the option of plain, lemon and herb, peri-peri and hot peri-peri. At the time of visiting they did not yet have their card payment system up and running, as the restaurant is quite new. The only thing I could suggest to improve the experience is to improve the overall feel/appearance of the inside of the restaurant, as it is very modern, has harsh lighting and lacks character.

The food from here is amazing the wraps they make are the best I’ve had in a while and the chips are better than maccies by far

I have already reviewed stating that my meal of mixed platter was awful. The spare ribs were dry and tough to eat. The belly pork was not pleasant to eat very chewy and under cooked and extremely thin. The homemade mayo was poor value for money. The reply I got was that the belly pork is cooked this way in Portugal and that is it! What reasoning was there for the spare ribs! I didn't even add the fact that when the meal came it was cold and the hand made chips had gone soggy! Very disappointed and will not be ordering from this takeaway ever again! I can cook better myself!

Ordered for the first time, meal was cold steak was tough and they're having a laugh with the hand-cut chips as thin as McDonald's and a handful overpriced at £2

First time ordering was easy to order and pay for and the meal was lovely. We should have been in Portugal tonight so this helped easy the blow a bit. I would highly recommend.

Genuinely the best takeaway I've ever been too. Food is unreal and the chips are to die for! Service is brilliant and the place is always spotless! Would 100% recommend to anybody!

This is big for me to write this.. I ain't a takeaway fan at all greasy food isn't me so just don't bother wasting my money on them.. But saw this open a while back and thohght ohh looks like nandas type might have to try it so waited a while and after hearing amazing views I decided that's it we will try well.. Tonight was that night it amazing fresh healthy food gorgoeus smell taste and greese in sight👌 I will definitely be back ☺️

Better than a Nando's and half the price! Lovely juicy chicken, nice and spicy and really friendly staff. Definitely going to be a regular customer.
