I had the vegan jackfruit kottu and my partner had the plant based chickpea curry. If you're in a rush then this may not be the place for you. But on the other hand, if you're in a rush then you should try to make time to come here. Service was a little slow but the staff apologised in advance. When we got our food, what arrived was two absolutely incredible meals! I was upset when I had eaten it all because it was so delicious. The staff were really friendly and I would recommend everyone to come here. Really good value for money

Incredible food full of flavour! We went on a Wednesday night and it was a two person team. Everyone in the place was raving about the food.

We arrived in town on Saturday afternoon and almost all the restaurants were closed. That's why we ended up here, even though we didn't find it that appealing. The dining room is relatively uncomfortable and cold; no one goes there because of the atmosphere. But the food was really great (pumpkin curry, fish and chips)! Therefore it is worth taking a look here.

Absolute gem of a place. No frills, all the effort goes into the food - been a couple of times now and blown away by whatever we have ordered. Good choice for plant-based dishes, nothing bad to say at all. Keep it up guys!

An unassuming place, tucked away.... food was excellent and the service was great. Beef nachos were delicious, I expected beef mince but instead got 5 or 6 juicy chunks of beef. Highly recommend.

The food was not good and too expensive for that. Please add ice to a dish that has a lot of sauce. 3.50£ is too much for rice.

While traveling the NC500, we were looking for a place to eat in Thurso. Considering my Sri Lankan heritage we decided to visit T's Cafe. The location is a bit lowkey but there are signs leading you to the entrance. I can assure you that they serve delicious authentic Sri Lankan dishes, might i say even better then my own (Sri Lankan) father's cooking. They even have an extensive list of vegetarian & vegan items on their menu. The Ceylon rolls are absolutely amazing, i myself had the beef/pork rolls while my girlfriend had the vegetable rolls. The black pork curry paired with the paratha roti was sooo tasty, and so was the sambar curry if i may speak for my girlfriend. I would definitely recommend coming here!

But what a treat! We had never tasted Sri Lankan cuisine. We took Kottu. It was incredibly delicious! And since they make everything to order, you can ask for more or less (and for me, not at all) spicy. Ref, I recommend this restaurant! Be careful as everything is made fresh and on demand, it takes a little time.

This Sri Lankan restaurant in Thurso is truly outstanding. We enjoyed an unforgettable lunch in last year, that transported us back to the flavors of Sri Lanka. The owner, Josh, and his partner were incredibly friendly and kind, enhancing our dining experience. The food was exceptionally delicious, making it a must-visit spot.

Basic decor, nothing fancy but the food tastes fresh and very, very tasty! Plenty of chunks of good quality meat. Difficult to spot if you've never been and driving, entrance is down a little ginnel.

extremely minimal interior design but had a very positive vibe regardless absolutely delicious food! We enjoyed coconut roti, mixed vegetable vegan curry, a roti stir fry dish (sorry i forgot what it was called), and rice it was finger lickin good and i’m already regretting not ordering more to go:(

Had pork devil with boiled rice lots of flavour Pork was a bit tough . Service was slow , saw waitress to take order then had to go find her at the end of meal to pay bill

As a fellow srilankan, I would highly recommend this place. We went for lunch and had kottu, it was amazing, you can choose your spicy level, plenty of other options to choose from. The owner and his wife were super friendly and the service was great. Wish it is local to me !

Usually I don't write bad reviews, but this time there were just too many factors that make me... First of all the "restaurant" itself seems to be put in a unrenovated multi-use building/store-room, but this might at first be funny. the tables were covered with ripped plastic foil. But we were hungry, ordered the specialty of the house (devil chicken) and a pizza and 2 water. The latter were drunk from the bottle, as none of the 4 glasses provided was clean. Water stains, fingerprints, residue of cola or so inside and outside. Also the plates all had residue of old food, some could be removed with the fingers. The silverware was offered in paper napkins, which hat been used before. Food and hair was sticking to them. I will not discuss the pizza, as it was not an Italian restaurant, but both my kids felt sick afterwards (we were really hungry, so they ate part of it without using the fork etc. until we decided to not finish it). The chicken was hard as rock on the outside, it literally broke apart, the inside was dry, overcooked. We wanted to pay and leave without eating up, so I was looking for the waitress, but we were left alone in the restaurant. After some calling the man from the newspaper shop below came upstairs, obviously the cook/owner. I asked him really friendly to come to the table and showed him the dirty napkins and the food. He answered chicken needs to be well done. I answered yes, but not this way and put a finger on one piece which broke apart. He suddenly became very aggressive (I was really calm an nice) and told us to leave, we should not pay. No word of apology for the dirty stuff. "This is the way we cook here!" (probably necessary to sterilize it?!) We all were not feeling well. In fact this is a case for a hygiene inspection. My concern was not only about the food, but everything else. This was the worst restaurant experience I had in my life. I go to restaurants all over the world all my life and as a veterinarian I am a trained food inspector. I also don't want ton harm businesses, so I only review the good ones. But in this case I felt assaulted by this dirt trap and want to warn others. I am also curious for the answer if there is one. Not charging me showed that he knew I was right and did not prevent the review. Clean up the place! 🤮 P.S.: We did not eat the food, I stopped after a few forks. It was not edible. I would have liked to support a weird place like this, but not if they are trying to harm us with what they serve. I would have paid the bill, anyways. The owner though did not want to see what I was showing him and threw us out ver harshly. Before we went in the restaurant we were in the newspaper store below. There I bought 10 stickers, which were 1 Pound each. I asked if there is a discount if I take more, but he refused and I just paid what he wanted. Funny, that he tries to mock me for having money issues while he is. The stickers were funny, everything else in this whole building not. I hope they started cleaning now...

I'm eating here right now. Wife and I were passing through looking for a quick bite to eat. Food was quick, service courteous and I did not see anything valid from the negative reviews. Ts Cafe is a nice little spot in a quiet town.

It is a really quiet place in a beautiful site. A good option for taking a brief rest during a trip.

The staff have been nothing but polite to my family and I whenever we go in for lunch. I've always enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere along with it. I have had a positive experience with every visit. Without a doubt my favourite place to eat!

Authentic menu, great food and service!

This place is a hidden gem, the food makes you feel like you are in another country. They prepare the food on the moment so, might not be your best option if you’re in a hurry, although I must say, it is really worth it!

As Sri Lankan impressed with home taste food from the owner who is the main Chef. Impressed with his dedication to provide the home fresh cooking food to customers compare to many so called Indian restaturants in Scotland who pre cook every thing for quick serve than fresh cooking (Cost effective as well) . Also saw few negative comments by some who said rude owner (seems too many negative comments within last few days with similar lines seems fishy!! ) and asked him as he said they were rude with his staff and hence asked them to leave . Lovely guy . If you are looking for authentic Sri lankan / South Indian food in this region highly recommend it

I recently visited T's Cafe Restaurant and unfortunately, it was an extremely disappointing experience. The level of respect shown towards customers was shockingly low. From the moment I walked in, I was met with indifferent and dismissive behavior from the staff ,Not only were they unresponsive to basic requests, but they also seemed to disregard customers’ presence altogether. The lack of courtesy was evident in the way they handled orders, barely acknowledging patrons and giving the impression that they were doing us a favor by serving us.

A hidden gem in Thurso. Food was absolutely delicious. Great friendly staff. Looking forward to my next visit. Its also worth nothing, if you are getting a spicy dish you are offered mild, medium or hot spices. And if you have a boring friend they can have British cuisine!

Worst experience. Was really hungry and were expecting some hospitality as we were travelling since few days and looking forward for some wholesome lunch. The chef and the staff were extremely rude and asked us to leave. I do not know how can people be so racist. ZERO HUMANITY ZERO HOSPITALITY. Its not like we were not going to pay them.

I hope I can give them zero stars, we people went to dine in, the lady servant said the food will take 35 to 40 minutes to get prepared, I just asked them why it’s taking so long are you guys busy, I don’t know what’s went wrong with the manager he came and rudely said GET OUT showing fingers towards door. Very disappointed as we saw the ratings were good so went for lunch, didn’t said anything wrong to them or showed any wrong behaviour, felt very insulted so writing here. This will be my first bad review I am writing for someone. Not recommending at all.

Came in for a late lunch, and it was excellent. Many GF and VG options (gluten free & vegan). Various levels of spicey, medium was good enough for us. Recommend either the Kottu or the Dallo Devil squid.

Good food. Had the king prawn curry and really enjoyed the spices. Had to order an extra parotha as the curry was too good to be left. Lots of vegetarian options on their menu. Owner was very friendly as well. Would recommend a visit. The prices are a little on the higher side, but still well worth it. Also, as you can see from the pic, my plate and cutlery was clean, not sure what the review someone else had posted was all about.

Was in today for lunch the pizza was home made and tasted amazing the cheese just melted was lovely my son ate all of his pizza I had chips and curry was home made chips also tasting brilliant and the curry sauce was very nice

Wonderful food - great mix between British and Sri Lankan cuisine. We loved the pizza and lamb curry. The pompadom was also a tasty starter. The atmosphere is developing, but the music was good and the service was very helpful and friendly.

What an absolute gem of a find! The food was, literally, out of this world - so, so very tasty, such fresh flavours, all cooked to order, so be prepared to wait a little bit you would not get this standard of food otherwise. Sri Lankan specialities - cannot explain how much wed recommend it - plenty of veggie and vegan options and loads of "English" dishes too. Lovely couple who own it - really wish them the best in their venture - it's cafe style decor, so quite casual and you may need to look for it, as it's above a newsagent. We went 2 nights running it was so good and would go back tomorrow if we weren't going back to Bolton!

Decided to give this a go based on Google reviews. Initial impressions of a quirky, unique place are soon replaced by the realisation that it is a soulless box with no imagination (or money) lavished on it. Fish cutlets for starters were... ok. Prawn curry was tasty but, with £3.50 extra for a portion of boiled rice, turned out to be poor value. The bottled beer was almost flat, which suggests it was old or the glass wasn't properly clean, and the coffee was disgustingly tasteless and one sip was one sip too much. Finally, the service is awful. With a group of three being the only other table, there is no excuse for the absence of service. Then, when I queried an item on the bill, there was no concern or care whatsoever. Why do people like this run 'restaurants'? They clearly have zero interest in their customers. Avoid.

We stopped here for some iced coffees on the route 500. The gentleman in charge was lovely and accommodating. Reasonable prices for two tasty coffees. We didn't stop for any food but the menu had a wide range of world-cuisine

Walking around Thurso came upon by accident down a walkway and up some stairs to a friendly reception and excellent food! The menu was a bounty of options. Try this gem out you won't be disappointed!

Got to live to 60 years old to be first time called a c_nt by a restaurant owner. In a situation where in the end they admitted overcharging me 20%.

Fantastic Sri Lankan food! The Kottu with jackfruit is excellent. Plenty veggie/vegan options, which is why we came. Veggie burger & baby Mac & cheese were polished off by hubby & baby!

I ate here with a group of 8 people, and we all had totally different dishes from the eclectic menu. All freshly prepared, perfectly cooked and utterly delicious! The food was also timed to arrive at the same time, no mean feat given the variety. This was a recommendation, and was utterly deserved. The menu really appears to have something for everyone, and the food quality is fantastic.

I asked for hot chocolate & it arrived in a cracked & chipped mug. There were only 3 of us & another 2 in the cafe, but the service was poor. It took about 15 minutes before we gave our order & then another 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Fair enough if the food was freshly prepared, but I heard the microwave go ping 4 or 5 times. I think they make a big batch of curry sauce & then freeze it in individual portions. Dad & John had breakfasts (which u couldn't smell cooking) & I had the prawn curry. The prawns were overcooked. The curry was different from an Indian curry. John tasted it & liked it as there was a lot of sauce in the curry. Dad & John's tea was cold. There were 4 glasses on the table & 1 was filthy. I ordered a coconut roti & the roti I received had no coconut in it.

We visited yesterday after a long day in the car and it was just what we needed. The food was delicious and prepared with care, our server was great too. Would recommend.

Eat here and have a curry. You owe it to yourself. One of the best curries I’ve had. We had the chickpea curry and the butternut and spinach with steamed rice. Flavours were excellent!

Incredible vegan curries - we were blown away. When you can smell fragrant food before you even reach the door, you know you’ve found something good! Tried the chickpea hot and potato spinach medium. Flavours just incredible. Proper ingredients, spice and heat. Wish we could pack this place up and take it home :) Thank you!

Me and my partner stopped in for a 12" Hawaiian pizza, some chips and garlic bread the staff are nice and welcoming. The food was delicious and the portions were excellent

Stopped for a cafe lunch, decided to have Sri Lankan curries and starters. Absolutely wonderful. Never mind the basic decor, the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

We really loved our meal last evening. Very good food for a really reasonable price. We will definitely come back next time we will stay in Thurso.

While service was ok for a family of 5, the staff where friendly and the food was good all round. The menu was amazing, with a lot of variation and choice making it a good place to eat with a family. The curry was excellent, and this, while well hidden in the centre of Thurso, is a brilliant place to eat.

Looked at several places to eat within walking distance of this area, most were crowded, found this little place above a shop, stated closed at 9pm however we went in 8.40pm & they welcomed us, service was polite & chatty, but not to chatty, good prices, lots of choices on the menu, serves alcohol too, food portions were really good, we had quite a feast for 2 of us & food was very tasteful, would definitely recommend this place. Especially the burgers

Excellent tasty curries. Unusual as Sri Lankan restaurants are not v common in Scotland. Friendly and good service. Felt authentic and in a clean and no frills setting. Also great value at less than 20 quid a head with beers, big portions and complimentary poppadoms! 🤩recommended if u want to escape pub grub in Thurso

Interesting, independent cafe and restaurant which was just what I fancied on a bracing walk along the Thurso coast. Great selection of food (including options for most diets) friendly service and quirky atmosphere. I felt that the establishment could have benefitted from a second staff member though the quality of the food, and the overall experience, was not compromised. Excellent Sri Lankan food prepared from scratch. A hidden gem above the newsagent. The food takes time to prepare so be prepared for a bit of a wait, but well worth it: Delicious.

Some of the best curries I have ever had. This is top notch stuff and really not to be missed. This place deserves a michelin star!

Great Sri Lankan food. Difficult to find as there is no signage - it's above the newsagent. Entrance is up a side alley. Well worth the hunt though, food is freshly prepared, taking about 45 minutes. I know Sri Lankan food a bit and am vegan. Food and service was great, Enjoyed the basic setting too. Will return.

I had fish and chips the fish was small and dry compared to other places I've eaten, the chips had already been salted and I don't add salt to my food, the food wasn't very hot so I won't be going back.

Ordered 2 pizzas large chips and a kids spaghetti meat balls for take away. After paying was told 45 minutes wait (only one family sat in restaurant) said they would do it as quick as they could. Just over 30 minutes so thank you (still longer than expected for a take away) then no chips so another 5 minutes for chips, when the large chips arrived there was around 30 small chips in a bag, when questioned I was told only one size, seriously 30 chips between a family of 4 for £2. Got back to hotel and pizza's were burnt and tasted like vinegar. Sorry not happy but now 15 miles away or it would have been coming straight back at almost £25. 2 stars for the service from you, food quantity and quality would not recommend or be back

Really brilliant haddock curry - insanely delicious! The breakfast burger was really good too and the chips were perfect, crispy and fluffy. Thanks for a brilliant meal.

Really lovely and professional staff at the upstairs T’s Cafe. The Sri Lankan dishes were to die for - compliments to the chef. Tony had haddock curry and I chose the coconut roti with black pork curry. Really wish this place was nearer Northumberland.

We're on holiday was looking for a takeaway but came across this online absaloutly beautiful. All had different dishes but all equally as nice my only downside was too much salt on chips. Server and chef were both lovely. If we're ever back on holiday would definitely visit again

Absolutely amazing curry. We had the devil jackfruit and chefs special cassava pork and coconut curry. Best curry ive had, unexpected in Thurso. Poor chef had to do everything himself as waiter was just standing in bar and unable to make coffee for customers. Food worth the wait though.

While doing N500 with a friend, popped into this nice place. Very interesting selection of food, some lovely cuisine of Shrilanka. I had the devil something with the squid - absolutely a treat and my friend had a king prawn curry, which as well was spot on. Also, you have a beautiful view (weather permiting). The waitress by the name of Natasha (I think) took good care of us and did her job wonderfully. Speaking from a 4 years of hospitality experience (management , bartending and waitering) At the end chef himself asked us how the food was. It was a nice little touch, international or not :) Overall, I highly recommend this place.

We ordered pizza well before 7pm and asked for the Margherita not to be over done. We were told 45 minutes. Two phonecalls later and being told it was on its way it finally arrived after 8. All pizzas a bit dry and the Margherita decidedly over done. Be honest, if you can't get food to customers on time just say when we order. When you have children at home you need to trust the information you're given. If we'd known it's be almost 90 minutes we'd not have ordered

Shocking experience!! Literally waited an hour for a fry up that was cheap nasty ingredients. Never normally leave reviews but had to this time to warn other people.

Me and my partner have just eaten lunch here and have left very happy and full, we had 2 tasty baguettes which came warm, 😋 both contained fresh ingredients. The chef even came out near the end and asked how the meal was, top bloke. 😁 We will be returning in the morning to try the breakfast. Highly recommend this restaurant. 5 🌟

Excellent food,Kotu was great,buffalo wings were amazong and pol roti was to die for,all cooked with such passion.very friendly staff and excellent customer service 12/10 would definately recommend:)
