Saturday 10th August 2024. I have never been so disappointed with the quality of the food and when ordering it. The lady behind the counter was so rude with her attitude when I asked if she could cut the baguettes in half. We ordered a salmon baguette and a prawn baguette. We think she made them to order. She disappeared to another part of the shop. We paid £6. each for them. So you would expect some salad in them!!! No nothing. Just a thin strip of salmon in one a a few measly prawns in the other. Nothing else. So disappointing. Very poor quality.

Wish I’d read the reviews. We fancied a crab sandwich and this place had a sign saying freshly dressed crab. So disappointed, just a scraping of brown crab more like pate.no salad or mayo… Very poor

Visited as a tourist for a fresh crab sandwich made to order. At the "hatch/stable door ordered 2. At £6.00 each = £12 for2 crab sandiches. Woman was very chatty - overly engaging, which I suspect was her well-practiced ploy. My mistake was NOT to ask if crab was fresh and dressed. I assumed, from previous purchases. On this occasion there was no fresh dressed crab. It was something horrible like Shipham's fish paste. Feel extremely dissatisfied nay cheated. Shall never ever return. Lymington Business Community - Please be aware. This retailer is cash only - for your information. She does not give receipts. Is her operation legal ? It is not nice. Some might say it's a rip-off. I rarely write bad reviews but sadly on this occasion I wish I'd read the other reviews here first. This "servery" is in a prime position on the Quayside and when visiting last month I walked into town and really fancied a crab sandwich. The lady serving had just returned from the dentist when I arrived so, although I did sympathise as we chatted, I put her lack of engagement and her general attitude down to that, but other reviews now suggest otherwise. Anyway, I can forgive poor customer service - we all have off days - if the food is good. But..... I took the sandwich back to my flat, looking forward to a treat for lunch. So disappointing! Probably the worst crab sandwich I've had. Boring bread and a minimal scraping of crab.....and it cost £6.50! I just won't be returning (and I'm a regular visitor to the town). I am only glad that I decided to buy a pasty from a different outlet on the high street - that really was "truly scrumptious".

This place is just awful. Rude lady serving, and the food is just horrid and a rip off. I can only assume it keeps going because tourists have not heard the rumours of just how terrible it is. Spread the word! Do not waste your money here.

We wanted to buy 2 crab sandwiches. I asked the usual questions you would normally ask when choosing one eg do you have brown bread? does it have mayo? do you take credit cards or prefer cash? Each enquiry was greeted with an extraordinarily and unprovoked rude response. We decided to leave without ordering and explained that we felt unable to proceed with the order due to her rudeness. We found the experience quite upsetting and were not surprised to later read the reviews below.

I ordered 2 crab sandwiches and a cheese and tomato baguette today at lunchtime. The, alleged female, creature running this appalling service vacuum was slow, rude and of repellant aspect. She refused to cut the baguette, in reality a roll, into two pieces due to ‘Trades Description Act’ strictures on describing half a roll as a ‘baguette’. This patent nonsense was followed by providing two crab sandwiches with so little crab in them that it resembled four pieces of bread, marginally spattered with butter and sparsely sprinkled with what looked like dandruff. It would take a burrowing electron microscope to have found anything which could be remotely labelled ‘crab’ on these sandwiches. They were appalling. On challenging this absurd huckster with the evidence of this blatant fraud, in front of a short queue of dead-eyed plebs who ignored my plea to boycott obvious sub-criminal incompetence, it said, ‘Thank you. Goodbye, come back again soon’. My apologies if I have used the wrong pronouns for this indication of the paucity of service in Brexit Britain.

The most awful crab sandwich I have ever had. The bread was dry and the crab filling almost non existent. It was more like a mayonnaise sandwich. The lady serving was rude. A poor representative of Lymington. I will never go there again.

I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased a ‘freshly’ made crab sandwich. To be blunt it was awful, bread was dry and barely any crab filling, in fact there was so little crab I could barely taste it. It was more a dry bread and butter sandwich. I would usually complain directly but it was a sunny day and the queue was long plus we wanted to get on with our day. So, this is my complaint here, I will never go back to this place again. To top it off, the lady who served me made me feel as if I was a nuisance and bothering her by ordering a sandwich. Plus, I could see that anyone who ordered a pasty had the privilege of having it zapped in the microwave for a few seconds. Just all round awful place. Avoid!!

The most uninspiring crab sandwich that my wife has ever had. I never post bad news on social media. Instead I tell the proprietor direct but on this occasion they were not prepared to listen! The crab may have been ‘Devonshire Crab’ but it was tasteless. The sandwich was dry and the experience, even though filled with a smudging of crab was sad and unexciting. Harvey more money and put in pre crab. Don’t complain about how much crab has increased in price and get yourself a decent supply of Mayo! You had hardly any in it. Hellmans is inexpensive but Stokes adds to the wow factor. The benchmark of all you sell should live up to your name, ‘Truly Scrumptious’ it wasn’t! Anyway I did bother to tell you and anyone else wishing to throw their money in the bin which is where your crab sandwich was worthy of!

The worst attitude from anyone I’ve ever known working in hospitality! How she was once mayor and a councillor is beyond me! The food is beyond aweful and I’d have to question if the new forest ice cream is what it says

We bought sandwiches to eat sitting overlooking the marina. Freshly prepared, totally scrumptious. I chose smoked salmon and hubby had the crab

I had the displeasure of stumbling upon this Bakery in Lymington. The food on display did look very nice, but unfortunately that was totally ruined by the manners of the shop owner who was so rude! And for no apparent reason?? Such strange behaviour coming out of lockdown when so many small businesses are crying out for people to buy local and not use supermarkets, I wonder why!!!! Never mind, I did find the ‘ mines a pasty ‘ bakery a short time later who not only had great looking fayre, but managed to sell it with a smile and a thank you.

Absolute rip off. Do not waste your money. I wish I had read other reviews before I wasted my money. I ordered a ‘fresh crab’ sandwich for £5 and got 2 dry pieces of bread with hardly any filling, you wouldn’t have known it was crab. No salad, no flavour, no seasoning. It was by far the worst sandwich I’ve ever had the misfortune to buy, served by the most rude woman. She certainly wouldn’t win any awards for customer service. Do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere. I wish I had, I’m still seething now.

Very few restaurants opened that day. We enter half the room closed. We order, they don't warn us that in the children's menu there is already a bottle of water and that we should not take it from self-service. U poor sandwich for the children's menu with really bad food! Nothing was top notch 20min service. 55€ for 2 children's menus and 2 adult dishes with a bottle of water and a dessert

I live locally so have visited before, taking various friends and family as the setting is so pretty and the walk from Beaulieu a pleasant way to work up an appetite. I've never found the pub at the Master Builders to be anything other than expensive, sometimes grubby, with a very limited menu and overall a not very customer focussed experience, but I've never got round to reviewing before. And always hoped it might improve! But enough is enough.....today we ordered the tomato bruschetta , which, for 10 quid, one might have thought would be a teensy bit more interesting than a chopped tomato on a piece of dried toast. ONE piece of toast...an uninspired tomato...no hint of the promised balsamic dressing that I could discern..no apparent olive oil rubbed into toast. Awful. Eat here if you are on a diet and want to feel ripped off. Better to take a picnic and sit on the tables down by the river. This pub leaves a sour taste and treats customers like idiots.
