Used to be lovely but new owners don’t have a clue. Whilst the food is okay, everything else has gone down hill. Menu wise I’d suggest you advertise a quiche as a quiche, not a tart. You don’t stand a chance of hearing your party, the acoustics are shocking. As for the clientele it’s full of screaming and I mean screaming brats. So if you fancied a nice relaxing lunch with friends, I’d suggest somewhere else because it won’t happen. And the owners don’t care, that’s the sad part. Perhaps you need to advertise that you are more of a crèche than an overpriced cafe.

Lovely lovely cafe. Gorgeous food, best coffee. Genuine feedback - paring back portions bit too far! Quiche smaller, coleslaw portion smaller, less salad, no olives, no crisps. Come on!

I had afternoon tea with my friend for her 40th Birthday, it was truly beautiful, the food is delicious and the coffee is amazing, today I had the afternoon tea delivered for Mothers Day it’s fresh and delicious, I love it

By accident passed by here, and decided to stop for coffee and cake. The place was buzzing and very busy. We ended up with a nice table on the side. Service was very friendly. We had coffee and scones, but many more cakes on offer. Tasted all fresh with cream, butter and jam on the side. We'll be back here for sure as it's not like the mainstreet coffee shops

Absolutely beautiful breakfast, everything was perfect, also got some tray bakes to take out and they are all fantastic. The staff were all lovely and friendly and smiley. Thank you so much, you deserve to go from strength to strength ☺️👌

Excellent breakfast food and smoothies. Lots of options and all tasty. Would recommend the creme egg brownies too to take home for later. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We loved our trip to Truly Scrummy and felt very welcome - I visited with my 11 month old son and was impressed to see play mats set out downstairs and toys on offer, as well as highchairs! The cakes are exceptionally good and the service is always lovely. Would definitely recommend a visit!

I come here often for the delicious traybakes and cakes and sometimes grab lunch. Excellent food and staff!

I often pop by Truly Scrummy for the amazing tray bakes, but I’ve been in recently for work at home lunch with my husband and also brunch with my toddler. Service is always prompt and friendly, the food and cakes are delicious. My little one loves the free colouring in sheets and we always feel really welcome. Can’t wait for our next visit :-)

I booked the event space for a parents group and it was a lovely room to host in, Lucy put out some foam mats and toys for the younger kids and they had a great time :) The staff were very helpful and attentive and were happy to give those with prams access to the room via the back entrance.

We've just checked this out for the first time with our nearly 2 year old grandson, for brunch, and all rate it! The babyccino was lovely, and the ham sandwiches with grapes and crudites definitely hit the spot for Ozzy. Jenny and I meanwhile were very happy with our avocado on toast with poached eggs and our cappuccinos. The staff were dead helpful and friendly, the service was good and quick, they've got high chairs which was pretty essential, and they were very tolerant of the mess on the floor below the high chair... Not much else we could ask for, honestly, and judging by how popular the place is lots of others for the same. It's a big space too so still didn't feel crowded, and that feels more important than ever right now. We'll be back before long.... :-)

Found this place when having a walk around Horsforth and it looked lovely inside so thought we would give it a go and glad we did. Staff were very smiley and friendly and nothing was too much. The food was lovely too and my daughter had a smoothie which she said was ddlish. Will definitely return :)

Had some delicious takeaway Homemade pies. Made some soup for dinner & had it with the scrumptious & it were an exhilarating dine. Would absolutely recommend !

A visit to the Bank on Town Street turned into a real treat on discovering this little gem. It was the monster cakes/bakes in the window that had me hooked. . . two huge pieces of traybake later. . . ! Take out service only given the pandemic and it was reassuring to see the precautions which had been taken to keep staff and customers safe - one way system in/out etc. Service was good - I'm a 'weak tea' person - which was happily accommodated. Looking forward to returning when we can actually sit inside. . . maybe the afternoon tea next time?

Possibly the best English breakfast I have had. My daughter loved smashed avacado with poached eggs and smoked salmon. The ingredients were of excellent quality and a nice cup of tea too. Staff were friendly and attentive. Covid safe too! We were very impressed - Thank you

A very nice deli with very friendly staff. Covid aware, with social distancing between tables and staff all wearing visors. The Specials menu now includes bowls of chips, a nice addition as the cold weather approaches. Free on street parking. The scones are always fresh and baked in house. Delicious. I would highly recommend this deli.

Uno de nuestros favoritos absolutos en la zona. Truly Scrummy se encuentra en la línea entre la cafetería y el restaurante: es un lugar agradable para tomar un café o sentarse a disfrutar del servicio de mesa (y pasteles increíbles: pruebe el pastel de café y el camino rocoso retro). A pesar de los tiempos de prueba durante el brote de Covid-19, Truly Scrummy donó mermelada y bollos a un grupo que hacía trabajo voluntario del que yo era uno. Tengo que decir que probablemente fueron los mejores bollos que he probado en mi vida. No puedo recomendar probarlos lo suficiente. Fueron entregados con gran generosidad y amabilidad y espero poder disfrutar más en un futuro muy cercano.

Tea and scones, hiding from the rain. Good Earl Grey, freshly cooked scone and lovely waitresses. Bit pricey but well worth the drop-in.

Visité este café por primera vez y me sorprendió gratamente. Simplemente elegimos este café al azar mientras caminábamos por un café y un almuerzo ligero. Tuve la cálida ensalada de queso de cabra que era absolutamente deliciosa. El personal también fue muy amable. Definitivamente visitaría de nuevo.

Meet with friends once a month for tea and scone. Absolutely loved the scones until recently. Our last two visits have been disappointing. The scones are now half the size they were, so small and not as nice as they were and at nearly £3 inc jam, butter, etc, we opted for something else instead. Why change something that was very popular. Shame really as we used to look so forward to it and are now looking at other places to meet up.

The drinks were served within minutes of being ordered, however the same can't be said for the food. We ordered a cold meat platter for 2 & after 40 minutes this still had not arrived. I managed to gain the only waitress that came nearby within this time & 5 minutes later it came, with an apology. It looked nice but there were no olives, I got up and went to the counter as hoping to catch a passing server was a waste of time. Sorry about that too, a small pot was then placed in the middle. The platter was nice, the service appalling - I pity those waiting for anything that required cooking! The place was 1/2 full at past 2 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, the order was a simple cold plate of food. Not difficult really, disappointed and not returning anytime soon

I arranged to meet my friend when I travelled up from London to meet up with relatives in those wonderful cafe. The food was excellent, such a variety and very reasonably priced. I do like freshly cooked food and it’s great when you can alter the menu to your taste. Nothing was too much trouble. The cafe catered for all age ranges and there is even a private area downstairs.

Los camareros fueron rápidos y atentos tomando nuestro pedido de bebidas mientras esperamos.Encantadora variedad de sándwiches y comida caliente simple como papas de chaqueta.Pedimos sándwiches y quería rellenos ligeramente diferentes a los del menú. Esto no fue un problema y estaban más que felices de hacerlo. Cuando llegaron los sándwiches, se les presentó bellamente con guarnición de ensalada, ensalada de col y patatas fritas. Delicioso pan fresco también. La comida llegó muy rápido a pesar de que la cafetería estaba llena.Lugar encantador y ambiente encantador. El personal era hablador y agradable. Definitivamente regresaría.

Vengo aquí con bastante regularidad. Es un ambiente encantador y me gusta especialmente ver qué cuadros hay en las paredes. La comida siempre es muy fresca y muy sabrosa y hay una gran selección. Es genial para el almuerzo de una pareja acogedora, reunirse con amigos o en algún lugar para traer a los niños: las comidas de los niños son geniales. El servicio siempre es rápido y amable.

Great location on Horsforth High Street with lovely friendly and helpful staff. I've been to Truly Scummy several times now and each time the food was delicious - the afternoon tea for two is more than generous and the brie bacon and cranberry panini was very good and filling. The coffee too is a good quality and the Bakewell Tart is to die for! On arrival it was busy but we didn't have to wait long for service. The girl who brought the tea, brought it with a smile. All in all I was chuffed to find this lovely place and will definitely be visiting again.

I came with friends for a catch up. Excellent venue and good would definitely recommend to others coming.

Regularmente voy aquí a almorzar con mis amigas y nuestros pequeños bebés (menores de 1). Tienen una excelente área en la planta baja que puede reservar de forma gratuita y eso significa que tienen un área privada para ustedes y no necesitan preocuparse de que sus hijos molesten a todos. La comida y el servicio son siempre excepcionales. Personal amable y muy buena relación calidad-precio. Definitivamente lo recomendaría para amigos y familiares.

I came in for a brief coffee and I heard the owner (i believe, i think his name was Paul) being exceptionally rude to his hardworking staff in the hot weather. The floor staff were lovely and attentive but the owner could use a lesson in management.

A very disappointing experience and one I have not had before. I entered with my baby in a pram only to be greeted by the unfriendly manager who was sighing at the inconvenience of a pram .. he caused a fuss about where I could put it and made it even more uncomfortable when I asked for a highchair. He actually started faffing with the table legs and on that note I decided to leave ... I really don't want to spend my time in a place that is willing to make mothers feel unwelcome.

With lots of competition in Horsforth this is by far my favourite. A friendly welcome and the place is spotless. Not always the quickest service but the food is delicious, well presented and good portions. Nothing is a problem and we love it

Después de haber tenido un bebé, estaba preocupado después de leer críticas anteriores que decían que los bebés y los carritos no eran bienvenidos. Casi no visité por esas críticas. Sin embargo, estoy tan contento de haberlos ignorado, no estoy seguro si se debe a un cambio de administración o simplemente a un cambio de política, ¡pero todo el personal no podría haber sido más acogedor! Un miembro del personal incluso ayudó a mover las sillas y las mesas para que yo pudiera acomodarlas con la silla de paseo.

Entramos solo por un lugar de estacionamiento justo afuera, pero nos sorprendió gratamente la bienvenida y el entorno.

We headed into Horsforth to look for something to eat after an impromptu night over. This wasn't the first choice of our guide, but it turned out to be a brilliant choice and we all had a lovely meal.

This cafe does the most wonderful cakes, is well worth a visit if in the area. They also offer a breakfast/ lunchtime menu. They also cater for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free diets.

Tuvimos un gran almuerzo. Los precios parecían un poco altos, pero la selección era excelente y la comida era excepcional. El lugar estaba muy limpio y el servicio era excepcional. En general, fue 'Verdaderamente Scrummy'. Sin duda visitaría regularmente si estuviera en la zona.

Como puede ver en mis otras reseñas, soy muy justo y me encanta estar seguro de una gran experiencia. Teniendo esto en cuenta, si pudiera darles cero, lo haría. La comida está bien y el personal es agradable, pero la actitud del gerente hacia los bebés y los cochecitos es desagradable.

Me encanta el aspecto Scandi de este café / restaurante que claramente atrae a una amplia gama de clientes. Went with a friend. Charged extra for soya milk for a coffee that was already expensive. 2 lattes and 2 toasted tea cakes cost £12. I want to support local businesses but not when they charge over the odds.

También compraron regalos inusuales de la nueva tienda de regalos que nunca habían visto en otro lugar (cervezas artesanales, cerámica). Los precios son algo más altos que las cafeterías de cadena, pero vale la pena ya que la comida es deliciosa.

Conocí a mi esposa y mi bebé para almorzar en Horsforth con el objetivo de ir a Trattoria Il Forno, desafortunadamente estuvieron cerrados durante 2 semanas, así que terminamos aquí. El lugar no es amigable (parece que no soy la única persona que menciona esto) y tuve una gran dificultad para llegar a la mesa. La comida es cara (8 por una envoltura con unas patatas fritas, hojas de ensalada y ensalada de col) y sin mencionar muy lento - 30 minutos de espera para una envoltura y preparado Quiche. 22 era caro para lo que era, ¡tampoco era verdaderamente delicioso!

I can't understand how anyone can rate this place badly. The staff are very efficient, the boss was very friendly and accommodating when seating a Wheelchair user. The food is very good quality and very nicely presented. One of the few cafés that's not full of mums, prams and kids. Will definitely be back.

Intentó visitar este café con mi marido y una pareja de amigos con nuestros bebés. Estaba bastante concurrido, pero había una mesa libre. Nos sentamos y nos pedimos inmediatamente dejar puesto que ya 3 cochecitos. Estábamos preparados para doblar nuestras cochecitos y dejarlos fuera del camino, pero esto no fue lo suficientemente bueno. Nos subían a costa que es 1 / 4 el tamaño y pasamos nuestra momento. Que intenta apoyar establecimientos independientes pero que no vamos a volver en una prisa. Esta fue la primera vez que he sido de salir porque tenía un bebé. La visita fue durante la semana que no los dueños creo que son sus principales clientes en un día de semana? ! Nunca me sentí tan avergonzado desde que se convirtió en madre. No recomendaré.

Me gusta la comida y el ambiente aquí. El gerente es amable y servicial. Compré un pastel de Navidad aquí en 2016 y es el mejor que he probado. Me gusta el deli y compramos algunas galletas. El desayuno inglés es sabroso y bien preparado. Recomiendo este lugar y hacer un punto de visitar cuando estoy en la zona.

I have eaten at Truly Scrummy a few times before now, choosing gluten free cakes or having jacket potatoes. Today I thought I'd try a sandwich because the jacket potatoes wouldn't be ready for half an hour. On ordering I was informed there would be an extra charge of £1 because of the gluten free bread... now I've eaten at many, many places and whilst ordering food can sometimes be stressful due to my special requirements, I've never felt hard done by or had anyone be rude to me about it.I wasn't asking for extra fillings or sides, i just wanted a bread I could actually eat without getting sick. I asked the manager why I would have to pay extra for something that just isn't an option for me or others like me. I thought she might reconsider that adding an additional cost to an already over priced sandwich might be a little unreasonable - fine, if it's a choice or an added option then I understand - but where you literally have no other choice, that's just unfair. The manager stood and tried to argue with me for quite some time, informing me of the law (I'm a lawyer) and said "I'm not going to argue with you about it, this time I won't charge you extra but only because I don't want to fall out over it"... Needless to say we couldn't sit there to eat after that episode. We left feeling truly shocked and disappointed. Locals trying to support local businesses but nothing in return.

Came here today with my newborn baby and a friend of mine who was with her 4 year old. The cafe had 4 empty tables, one of which was by the window, with enough room to have the pushchair next to me. As we walked in, we were told we had to sit at the back of the cafe, next to the toilets as I had a pushchair. Really unfriendly service and very unwelcoming!As we left, I expressed my thoughts to who I assume was the owner. A middle aged man who I assume has no concern for customer service. A real shame as I tend to only go to local cafes rather than chains. Wouldn't recommend!

Called in for a quick lunch this afternoon with my father and was quite disappointed to be completely honest. The service was very lacking, abrasive even, and considering the tiny amount of customers present compared the the number of staff this was quite surprising. We ordered 2 cappuccinos, a chicken club and a bacon and Brie panini. The coffees were nice but small, and another drink was not offered. The food was nice enough, but the 'handmade crisps' were just 4 or 5 kettle chips which were decanted onto the plate from a bag in front of us,and the chicken club was severely lacking chicken. My panini was nice, if a little tasteless, but when I took a bite of the second half of it there was a foil lid from some kind of hotel style condiment pot melted into it. As a waitress myself I understand that these things do occasionally happen, but when it was brought to the (I think) owner's attention, he was apologetic to be fair to him, but I was palmed off with an excuse about the bacon being cooked on foil, when it was clearly a lid, which I didn't appreciate. He did remove the panini from the bill (which still came to £13 for a sandwich and 2 small coffees), but there was no offer of a replacement and after having half a panini and a small few crisps I left still hungry and a little irritated. Safe to say I will not return, which is a shame as I had hoped it would be a local business I could support.

Nice well placed cafe serving fresh food at a reasonable price. These days you get what you pay for if you want cheap and tasteless this is not for you. If you want nice and good value then i would recommend you pay them a visit. The owners spent time talking to us and the staff were very efficient. its nice that these small cafe still are running and have not been replaced by mass market tasteless food joints. Cakes and portion sizes are sweet.

Lovely place at the top of Horsforth Townstreet it's just expensive for what you get. Sausage sandwich at £2.00 in Morrisons £4.50 in this cafe. It was ok but not at that price. Coffee was fab. Service good just need to look at the prices in the menu.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. 2 sandwiches and 2 soft drinks £22. Was surprised at the cost.Lunch was nice but not worth the cost of around £8 per sandwich.Service was good and otherwise a nice place to stop of. Not sure I would return at those prices.

Overpriced and service without a smile......although the young waiting staff do their best, they cannot compensate for the sharpest knives in the kitchen.....the daggers flashed by the ageing Gordon Ramsey wannabe! So, very average, seemingly warmed up and in part cremated food with anaemic tomatoes thrown over in a vain attempt to mask the same....sorry but there will NOT be a next time!

Wanting to support an independent cafe we chose Truly Scrummy, the menu was appetising.....unfortunately the food was not......Chicken & Bacon Salad £8.90 was appauling.....the bacon was very burnt and over cooked, it had been cooked twice....RE-HEATED!!! The cook.....who was miserable, could turn anyone to stone with one Glare....had thrown on slices of bland flavourless tomatoes to make up for lack of salad leaves and to cover up the rubber burnt bacon......it didn't work. Staff seemed on edge and there was a definite atmosphere in the place. We were charged £5.70 for my partners sausage and cold sliced tomato sandwich....we were charged an extra 40p for cream with our small coffees......costing £2.50 each......a total of £19.10...the best thing about truly scrummy is the ART.....tho thats also over priced....to be honest the well known high street cafe at the bottom of the town street has excellent coffee at a better price.

Called in here for a late breakfast. Good choice on menu -we had the scrambled egg & bacon. Usual things on offer -sandwiches ,jackets etc. No it's not cheap but then it's not a greasy spoon cafe. Family run & welcoming. The place is light & airy so ideal for somewhere to relax over a coffee & watch the world go by on Town Street,

Ordered 2 bacon sandwiches one with an egg and one with tomatoes, no drinks. Bill came to over £10...... This place is too expensive for what it is, but it is always busy with plenty of people in. Quite small inside but this doesn't stop people going. Staff seem fine and helpful. No direct competition on town street currently is the only thing in there favour.

Lovely street side café. Clean, spacious but not for prams, looks fresh..Lovely menu, dessert look amazing but not tasted today.some items little pricey, great coffee.We sat outside and good location to watch the world go by.....well traffic and folks shopping..Served by staff with a smile....Toilet towards the back of the shop, ok at least accessible and has hand towels....

This place is lovely, not too overly priced and distinctly above average. However it is a little cramped. You can't really get prams or wheelchairs in and have space around you which makes it difficult. The food is fresh and locally sourced, filling and satisfying as well as healhty. They also have a great range of tasty deserts and cakes.

The food, drinks and staff are lovely. My only complaint is that the salads are overpriced- almost 9 pounds for a few salad leaves, veg and piece of goats cheese. Apart from that it's amazing. Try the scones

I've enjoyed this place. I've also not enjoyed this place. Worryingly, I've also vacated my table and walked out before I've had a chance to do either. This has led to a somewhat on/off relationship and we currently aren't on particularly good terms. Truly Scrummy offers pretty good food. It also offers a pretty good location. Unfortunately, everything else is either hit or miss or something you either love or hate. Service is a definite hit or miss. On occasion I've had attentive, fast and confident service. Other times I've been seated and subsequently received no service at all. I can also understand criticism of the open kitchen. Presumably profit margins and commercials dictate what can be done in terms of floor space and kitchen modifications but it is a legitimate point to raise. Combined with that, the atmosphere is often bland, although still noisy, and the decor and the quality of the furnishing don't match up to the prices of the food. All this adds up to the feeling that this place needs to discover, or rediscover, an identity. The prices and local food sourcing place it in a bracket where the overall experience is part of the product and customers look to be immersed in it from start to finish. Unfortunately everything here is pulling in a different direction rather than reinforcing the brand values, which leads to a slightly confused and self defeating offering. Somewhere in the muddle is the promise that you will no doubt enjoy a visit to Truly Scrummy. Whether or not you'll enjoy your second visit is anyone's guess.

Slow service, come out smelling like everyone's food in the cafe due to them frying in the open, and you feel so you are being watched all the time by the bald guy who owns the place. Very uncomfortable. Food is nice if you are willing to wait but 1 positive doesn't make account for all the negatives. Have reviewed this place before but it has gone down hill since then....a lot.
