Wonderful evening and delicious food, just like in Kerala. The waiting staff were lovely and out was great to chat to my friend while we waited for the food.. and it was so good and there was so much of it! The masala dosa was perfect!

Our family dinner was a deeply disappointing experience. The service was exceptionally slow, and the timing of the dishes was unacceptable. Our starters arrived piecemeal, with 10-15 minute intervals between each plate, disrupting the flow of the meal. The main courses followed a similar pattern, arriving in staggered intervals. To compound matters, after waiting for nearly 20 mins two of our main courses were mistakenly given to another table, resulting in a 30-minute delay. With only one staff member managing the entire dining room, the service was overwhelmed and inadequate. I have no intention of dining again at this restaurant.

I recently visited the restaurant and I must say it was absolutely wonderful and food was tasted heavenly.Beyond the food, what made the visit even more memorable was the service. Megha, one of the staff members, truly stood out.

Had an amazing meal at Kerala restaurant! The flavors were spot on, the ambiance was cozy, and the service was super friendly. Tried the Meen Pollichathu, and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly marinated, wrapped in a banana leaf, and grilled just right. The spices and smoky flavor made it one of the best I’ve had. If you’re craving authentic Kerala food, this place is a must-visit!

Esto no es exactamente una reseña del restaurante Kerala en su conjunto, sino una reseña de su fantástico almuerzo para llevar Pothichoru. Habiendo sido recomendado Kerala Restaurant recientemente, estuve en los alrededores y decidí echar un vistazo para el almuerzo. No sabrías que el restaurante estaba allí si no lo estuvieras buscando, es solo una puerta y un letrero, que conduce a una escalera hasta el restaurante del primer piso. Hay un bar de estilo recepción en la entrada donde recibí una bienvenida muy amable, educada e informativa. Habiendo mirado el menú con antelación, ya sabía que estaba pidiendo el Pothichoru por £ 12. No había oído hablar de esto antes de mi visita, pero sonó justo en mi calle – un almuerzo mixto tradicional, todo envuelto en una hoja de plátano. Esperé menos de 10 minutos en su cómoda zona de espera, antes de que mi comida llegara en una preciosa lona - bolsa (¡qué gran idea de marketing! ) En mi bolsa había cubiertos desechables, el paquete principal y otros 3 contenedores. 1 recipiente pequeño tenía un chutney / salsa en él, y otro pequeño y mediano contenía 2 currys diferentes. El paquete principal tenía una envoltura exterior segura de papel, con la hoja de plátano en su interior. Dentro había una gran cantidad de delicias. Una porción generosa de arroz (me dieron la opción de tradicional, que elegí, o basmati) , una porción de pescado blanco fresco a la parrilla, una tortilla, una especie de pastel de patata, un chutney seco, un poppadum (o similar) , partido en trozos pequeños (no estoy seguro si eso fue intencionado o no) , una cobertura de miga de coco, y algunos chiles. Me arrepiento mucho de no haber tomado una foto de esta bestia absoluta de un banquete, que era un valor excepcional en £ 12. Cada elemento del plato fue increíble, con el pescado, la patata, la tortilla y el curry más pequeño son los elementos más destacados. No estamos hablando bien - cenar aquí (o bien llevar - lejos incluso) , esto era más de una selección auténtica, rústica que puedo creer que es muy similar a lo que se ha servido en la India durante muchos años (nunca he estado, así que no puedo saber con seguridad) . Me encantó y definitivamente volveré a tener lo mismo, además de probar comer en el restaurante también. Siempre y cuando sepas lo que esperas – no puedo echar en falta esta comida, y después de haber probado muchos de los mejores lugares para comer de Leeds... .. esto se ubica justo ahí arriba en la cima para mí.

I recently tried some of the foods from Kerala restaurant. It was awesome experience tasty foods and awesome service especially sibi who attended my table . I tried masala dosa it comes with coconut,tomato chutneys and sambar I was totally impressed superb tasty reminded me of my homely foods and I tried beef curry also.I strongly recommended everyone must try these tasty dishes, a good food spot in Leeds.

Food is tasty but there is room for improvement. The seafood kizhi is superb, very flavourful and the fish especially was tender and delicious, I enjoyed dipping the Kerala parotta in that curry, it was excellent. The Chatti Choru was also enjoyable. The biriyani was disappointing and didn’t have much flavour. The service is also quite bad. The waitress who seemed like she didn’t want to be there got our order wrong (gave us chicken biryani instead of special beef biryani) despite being the only ones in there service was slow and only gave us menus 10 mins later, food took quite long to arrive too. It’s a shame because the food is good but the service just ruins the experience.

I recently tried the Butter Chicken at Kerala Restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The chicken was cooked to perfection, juicy and soft, absorbing all the flavors of the sauce.The dish was well presented, and the portion size was generous, making it great value for the price. Freezing cold restaurant with no atmosphere, mushroom soup was tasteless, the thali was not very nice only one of the small curry dishes was worth eating the rest were just bland average, some drinks out of stock, won't be eating here again, doubt the staff will read this review as they weren't bothered out engaging with their customers while they were eating or paying

Platos sabrosos. Era un poco tranquilo y probablemente no lo era tanto, considerando que el resto de la ciudad parecía estar concurrida con fiestas corporativas. Nos topamos con él después de ser tratados con desprecio en akbars (dar a ese lugar una amplia litera como todo lo que les rodea). Las 3 tuberías principales eran sabrosas, el poori era genial, naans eran un poco planas en comparación con lo que estamos acostumbrados, pero estaban bien. Ciertamente, iría de nuevo.

A good place to have Malayali food away from home. The place was neat and had enough room to accommodate at least 50-60 people at once. Tables are closer to each other than what we consider great, so not much privacy to be had, but not a deal breaker either. The menu had enough options to cater for anyone you could bring along. Veg options, chicken options, fish/seafood options, all there to choose from. Service was exceptional, they were polite and were able to answer all of our queries and doubts. Visited twice, had porotta with Kerala style chicken curry first time which was just wonderful; and Kerala style chicken biriyani second time, which was not good at all in my opinion. The porotta was flaky and tasty. The chicken curry had great texture, thick enough and went well with the porotta. Chicken biriyani did not have the gravy/masala like Calicut/Thalassery biriyani have within the biriyani. The chicken was kind of fried, while it had a different but nice texture to it, it did not have any flavor. It did not complement the rice at all. Also the raita that was provided along with biriyani had little to no onions, unlike we expect from a Kerala style biriyani. The lime juice I had along with the biriyani was average. It had a tinge of mint flavor to it but not enough to call it mint lime juice. I would still go to have porotta or other dishes, but I'll probably never try their biriyani again. 8/10.

We held our Onam event at Kerala restraunt. The chettai Mar where very friendly and helped us with running our event, cleaned the venue the day prior, and where at stand by if we needed help with food. Would recommend for events!!

Up the stairs and into the restaurant, Kerala is hard to spot on the Headrow. Had to wait to be seated then wait again for even a menu. This was indicative of the overall poor service even on a quiet evening. Starters were a bit meh to be honest, nothing to write home about. Mains of fish thali and chicken dhosa were eagerly anticipated. The thali was nice, but I've had better. The dhosa filling and as it should be (not as spicy as India). We enjoyed it but it's not a meal I'll remember. Unlike say a certain more upmarket Keralan restaurant not too far away. This one is far cheaper though. Highly recommend for a quick cheap tasty dhosa. Not recommended for a big foodie feast or for the lacklustre service.

I went yesterday with my family.Unfortunately it was very bad experience.We were really disappointed.We ordered one chattichor , one bdf ,two mango lessi , two set porota and beef and one tea.Unfortunately all items are not delicious.sorry to say the honest review.Please try to improve your food quality.

This seems to be the only spot in Leeds that offers crab curry. I ordered it through Uber Eats and it was fantastic - slightly spicy but full of flavor with sufficient quantity to cater atleast two. It really tasted like an authentic Kerala crab curry. Would love to order it again :)

Great food, great service, big portions, reasonably priced. Not your normal curry house as this is authentic South Indian Cuisine. Some of the dishes have a bit of kick from the spice which i loved. The Dosa, the Chattichor & the fried beef strips were lovely. Well worth visiting. When in Leeds again, will definitely go again.

Went today to have onam sadya. I love it. I went there with few of my friends who never had onam sadya before. They absolutely loved it and I felt so happy that Kerala restaurant could meet our expectations. Proper Trivandrum style sadya served in fresh banana leaves. I felt really happy and emotional. My tummy and heart was happy with the yummy food and really good experience. The sambar was amazing. Sambar, pineapple pachadi and olan are my favourites from todays sadya and so is parippu payasam. I can confidently take rest of my friends and colleagues here as I am sure this will be good experience for them. Highly recommend this place for anyone who is planning to have onam sadya and Kerala food (I have tried chicken Biriyani and kappa and fish curry - all where spot on). Excellent customer service and good choice of music. Very friendly staffs. Best part: they served payasam again when we requested 😁

We ordered Onam sadhya for lunch. Every dish was tasty and was very similar to what we have in Kerala, India. We also were served 3 varieties of payasam, which was delicious as well. Overall, a very good sadhya for Onam. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Excellent service and authentic Kerala food.

Recently went to dine in for Onam Sadhya. Well, it was a really terrible experience. I will say service was very horrible and unhygienic. When I asked for extra poppadoms, the staff girl was carrying poppadoms on the hand instead of on the plate. Onam sadhya food tasted old, stale and horrible. And ordered sambar vada, it was frozen vada with no taste and quality. I would not recommend this place for onam sadhya and other food options as well. The restaurant atmosphere is good but not the food and service.

I had a poor experience at this restaurant. The sambarvada I ordered was hard, and after only three bites, I complained. The waitress took it to the kitchen but returned saying the chef claimed it had been mostly eaten. This wasn’t true, and the staff's response was dismissive. I won't be coming back.

Lovely food, with amazing service and ambiance. It’s at the edge of Leeds city center, and the dishes are tasty and so well prepared. A big thanks to the staff for being so welcoming and the food sated our hunger for delicious South Indian food. Would visit again!

Delicious food and great ambiance

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at many Indian restaurants around the world, but unfortunately, my experience at Kerala Restaurant was far from satisfying. The food lacked authentic flavor, and neither the spices nor the taste lived up to what I expect from Indian cuisine. The service was mediocre, and the atmosphere did little to make up for the disappointing food. There are much better Indian restaurants out there, and I cannot recommend this one based on my experience. Hopefully, they can improve both the food quality and overall dining experience moving forward.

Had chatti choru here today. Must say fabulous,service was top notch by siby . Definitely going to comeback and try other dishes on the menu.Menu is the variety🙌

Can't fault anything with this restaurant. We had the chicken Tika, chicken Korma, coconut rice and Garlic Nann. Food was outstanding and service was lovely.

Why is this place not busier? It's my favourite lunch spot in Leeds at the moment. The lunch deal is an absolute bargain and delicious to boot. £6 for chicken or lamb lunch special or £5 for a veggie option. Comes with Dosa, rice, curry, dahl, thoran and a little chutney. Can't wait to go back.

Recently I dined at Kerala restaurant and I can easily say they serve really authentic South Indian food. Their sambhar and tomato chutney was spot on with flavours. Masala Dosa was really good and crunchy and the potato filling was soft and flavoursome. Beef biryani is one thing that really took me off by surprise. It was nice not too high on spices and perfectly balanced. Meat was perfectly cooked and the rice was aromatic. The staff was really friendly and had an opportunity to speak to Anoj who was very courteous and helpful.

Awesome food, great restaurant to taste the cuisine of India and go with friends

I recently had lunch at Kerala Restaurant in Leeds and was thoroughly impressed. The squid fry starter was perfectly crispy and flavorful. For mains, we had masala dosa, Kottayam fish curry, appam, and Kerala porotta, all of which were delicious and authentic. The fish curry, in particular, stood out with its tangy, spicy gravy. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary Kanathari chicken dish, which was a delightful addition. The service was excellent, making for a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended!
