Attempted to have a Sunday dinner on walk in, was told no space even though the bar was empty, asked the barman if it was possible to eat in the bar he said it is but he’s not sure if we can sit down because other people might be coming, felt weird and not a place I’d go back to

A great pub. Staff are always very friendly. The food is excellent, and the service is fast. Has a quiz every Monday night.

We used to be regular visitors since it opened. But it has become worse than I remember. On our latest visit, everyone at our table ordered Sunday lunch with lamb. The yorkshire pudding looked impressive but very dry. The lamb was nice, but some pieces were chewy. The roast potatoes absolutely inedible rocks - crisped to oblivion. The mash that came with it tasted odd, but we assumed it was some mint spice / sauce that came with the meal. Unfortunately, everyone had a bad stomach shortly after arriving home. Whether it was the mash or something else, we will never know. Staff confidently do not take notes when ordering drinks and forget basics, such as when we requested drinks without ice. Although we love dogs, there were visitors that were let in with very yappy and loud pets. Unpleasantly loud, and nothing was done about it by the staff. No duck on the sunday menu or any signature dish. I remember there used to be a duck burger to live up to the name. Don't think we will ever return and I don't recommend this place anymore.

Wouldn't return now I don't think. The last couple of times in a row we have been it's just been a disaster. Hand pull ale always ran out, various dishes on the menu always ran out. You order something and something completely different and cobbled together arrives. The staff just don't care. It's really not hard to follow a menu and serve what it says. Every Sunday you can guarantee by the middle of the afternoon they've ran out of half the Sunday roast stuff. This place needs a good shake up. Think it would be an absolute last resort if we came back.

Food was great, staff worked tirelessly, i only marked down the atmosphere as we had a large, very loud group behind us that made it hard for us to talk at times. Not the restaurants fault but did spoil it a bit for me.

Food has really gone down hill. They have got greedy as in their name. Trying to cram too many people in to maximise profit. Sadly quality and service is at rock bottom.

Great steak and ale pie. Gourmet burger also excellent.

We went for Sunday lunch We thought at the price it must be really good, I had the roast beef and portion of cauliflower cheese, the beef was fatty, the roast potatoes was white and undercooked, and the cauliflower cheese had mustard in which I couldn't eat so they refunded me for the cauliflower, the pork was OK although we couldn't find the crackling lovely pub and staff very good but unfortunately we won't be going again

Visited for Sunday lunch. Service was extremely slow. We waited nearly an hour and had not received our meal. We then spoke to the manager who went to ask the kitchen staff. He apologised and said the meals would be out next. Out they came but 1 had well done beef when we ordered pink so that went back. The other roast, a pork dinner was cold and was taken back and brought out again but was still cold. The well done beef came back out with pink beef as ordered but the veg were also cold. By now we had had enough and gave the 2 roast dinners back. The kids chicken burger was a dried up chicken breast. The pie was apparently quite nice but the accompanying fries were very hard. The manager was very apologetic and we cannot fault his effort to try to resolve but he was let down by his kitchen staff. We were offered free drinks or deserts which we declined. We were very disappointed. It was our first visit there and we were looking forward to our dinner. The only thing that was eaten was the steak and ale pie. We left and went to get a takeaway. The manager waived the bill due to the poor service and cold overcooked food. We will not be back. Very disappointing.

First time. Had the Sunday roast. Honestly the beef was like butter and cooked to perfection. My only regret.. not enough room for a pudding. So next time, I shall be skipping the staters. (Soup of the day, halloumi fries and fish Pakore - which was well recieved by everyone in our party) and I absolutely NEED to try the sticky toffee pudding. It looked scrumptious

Three of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. My wife said the Pork was tough.

Absolutely fantastic place, got a mate who a Chef here (Corey) and the food he made was absolutely phenomenal quality.

Tried Sunday lunch. Not the best, I'm afraid. Plate was overstocked with undercooked cabbage and only 2 tiny roast potatoes. All in all, we were disappointed. On yhe plus side, the staff were efficient and friendly.

Estábamos en nuestra caravana y buscando una escala cuando nos encontramos con el Pato Avaricioso. ¡Qué hallazgo! Buena comida recién cocinada, el extremo superior de la comida del pub. Las dos chicas que trabajan en el bar eran muy amables y su servicio al cliente era brillante. La mesa de al lado estaba llena y tenían un par de perros con ellos. El personal vino a preguntar si estábamos bien. No tuvimos ningún problema con los perros en absoluto, pero el hecho de que pensaron preguntar fue genial. Las vistas en la parte trasera del pub fueron una sorpresa muy agradable. Sin duda volveremos

Really don’t like to leave a bad review but feel I have to. Went for Sunday lunch today and it was absolutely appalling. Roast potatoes were uncooked and the rest of the meal was poor, the lady who served us was lovely and knocked us 25% off the bill but in this instance it wasn’t enough, I don’t think it was worth £5 for what we were served. On today’s serving I wouldn’t attend again or recommend which is a shame as our last visit was lovely, money is too hard earned to walk out having not touched the meal. Absolutely abysmal. Just to update. This is how much they actually care about customers, they give a response like this. I’ve emailed them about this response and have been ignored. Avoid avoid avoid.

Esta vez fue absolutamente abismal, patatas asadas sin cocinar, comida caliente Luke. La señora que sirve era realmente encantador y muy disculpado con respecto a lo que nos sirvieron y dio un 25% de descuento en nuestra factura que no pedimos o esperamos. Para ser honesto, no se lo habría dado a mis perros, era tan malo. He compartido una foto de la respuesta del propietario a mi crítica veraz en su página, lee eso y come aquí bajo tu propio riesgo. An absolutely amazing pub with fantastic food. The Sunday lunches are delicious, and the grazing plates are to die for. Very friendly staff with great customer service.

First time here Ordered helloumi to start nice but cold! then ordered steak pie! Sorry again not nice at all full of fat not lean as would have expected when home made and priced at 16.95 chips not home made again would have expected due to claiming to be al a cart menu! Sorry will not be returning shame as setting is really nice and staff friendly

Hate leaving bad reviews, but after absolutely a disaster with the Christmas Day dinner last year when they sat us next to the toilets without even table cloth I keep giving a chance but unfortunately this place is so up and down you never know what to expect. Today the food was poor, feel so sorry for the lovely young lady who looked after us… it wasn’t her fault. It’s a real shame nobody really cares because the place is a real money maker so no effort is needed… Very sad😢

Had a lovely Sunday lunch, and enjoyed everything! Nice back room and space and excellent staff.

Waited too long for desserts, so went to pay the bill, turns out they had lost our deposit, had to pay bill in full and wait 7/10 days for them to return the deposit, not very professional

We enjoyed our evening here and had a lovely meal with cocktails . The staff are welcoming and the place is spacious and refurbished .

Nice pub in the middle of nowhere with welcoming local people and fantastic views.

My gluten intolerance was well catered for. The food was delicious, maybe one more vegan choice would be beneficial for those who want to visit often. Service was on point, kind warm and welcoming. Still retained a cosy atmosphere.

Everything about the evening was great,

The view in the beer garden is stunning. Food was terrible. And was told we couldn't order several courses at once. Jade to ho back inside.

Absolutely brilliant. Booked a table for 8pm Sat 3rd. Got to the table on time. Disappointed at first. Steak had all sold, this hot day. Told the brilliant front of house waiter. I was really looking forward to a steak. After a conversation in the Kitchen. They had managed to find me a steak. Must say it was the best I've ever had. They had also sold all the Onion rings. Yet the chef made some for me. Wow. My wife had Steak pie. She was blown away as well. So in conclusion. Excellent food, brilliant service and top marks to the lady front of house in restaurant and bar. Thank you.

The staff is absolutely amazing at the Greedy Duck. They've set up an extra table just for me and my friend so we can watch the England-Switzerland match today. We loved the food and the warm atmosphere. Thank you so much guys! 😊

Was really looking forward to trying the greedy duck as we've seen them posting on Facebook for a while. The service was really good from both the bar staff and waitresses. However the food was disappointing. The beef was dry and definitely not pink like we asked for. The roast potatoes were shocking and what should be the crown glory of your Sunday lunch a yorkshire pudding was more like a floppy pancake. On the plus side the carrot, coconut and chilli soup was delicious. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Gorgeous food in a beautiful setting. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Only snag is if you order a coffee when it's busy, you have to wait 25 minutes. I had to go to the bar twice to chase it up and, in the end, had to ask a passing waitress . I wanted coffee just to finish off after such a pleasant meal, then leave. 😩 The stuffed pork and steak that we had was gorgeous 😍

Been going to greedy duck for around a year. Every member of staff has become a good friend. Staff always go above and beyond Kev, Chelsea and Jules are fantastic and work extremely hard to keep a smile on their faces no matter how busy 😂 heartbroken to hear of Jules leaving, will be missing her lots. Worth the visit and the return the next time !!

Would highly recommend the steak night on Wednesday, this place put Miller and carter too shame. Lovely staff always happy to help 😊

This place has really turned itself round. Eight of us spent father's day together and the food was beautiful, would definitely go back. For none of the party to complain is a miracle, even the kids!

Only went in for a couple of drinks , ended up buying a mini meal for the child . We didnt eat but it looked nice , Nice place but as always its not cheap for quality food and service , plenty of customers in the garden on the sunny day it was . Recomend, bring plenty of wonga or heavy duty plastic lol

Beautiful traditional pub with outstanding views at the back. Gorgeous food. Exceptional service. Always made to feel welcome by the staff. Celebrated my birthday here recently and they made it really special.

Family Lunchtime for 7 of us (very few people dining so not at all busy) Service extremely slow, seemed only half of the limited lunchtime menu was available too. Tomato soup tasted a very strange vinegar flavour and could not be eaten. Chewy dry chicken accompanied the Caesar salad (lovely dressing on salad tho) Such a pleasant venue, shame about the terribly slow service and lack of options available. We all agreed that we would not be back.

The food was excellent and very well cooked,the service was very slow but not there fault as not enough staff on when it was very busy. The staff coped very well under the circumstances and was very professional l. Cannot complain about anything,an exceptional place to go for food and you will have a warm welcome when visiting. Dogs are also allowed at the greedy duck.

Had seen lots of positive reviews and this was the first time at Greedy Duck. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Music was blaring from the speaker in the corner was far too loud. I ordered the steak pie. No mushy peas were available only garden peas or pea puree. Steak pie was really salty, the whole meal was average. I explained this to the lady behind the bar on paying and I just got a one worded answer of 'sorry' Came across like she didn't care and wasn't willing to try to rectify. Paid £30.00 for main meal, drink and dessert in total. Won't be recommending or returning unfortunately.

My actual meal was delicious. The only point I would mention is that there seemed to be a lot of menu changes, some we were told about and some we weren't. One of the ones we weren't told about affected my meal so had to send it back to the kitchen to be amended. Basically, my lamb arrived on a bed of pea puree instead of carrot like the menu said. I really don't like peas and wouldn't have ordered that had I known. The waitress and kitchen were amazing though and got it changed for me straight away. It was absolutely scrumptious! I would definitely recommend the lamb!

Dinner was honestly stunning! The shoulder of pork was so so delicious best roast I’ve had in a long time! Only slight feedback is the wait time for service/plates being taken away/ having to ask for dessert/ bill we were there 3 1/2 hours in total which is slightly long.

The lamb was poorly cooked, the fat on the meat was white. Possibly the worse meal I've ever had, on complaining , the manager reembersed my money. That was the only good thing. I'll never go back.

Appalling customer service, very long wait to take our order. Had to sit in the pub as restaurant was full, we booked a table in the restaurant!! Food when it eventually arrived was cold, everyone had lamb, one of the group, had fatty and gristle lamb which he could not eat. Asked for dessert menu at the bar, as no one interested in asking us if we wanted desert. Menu given with the list of what we couldn't have. Very expensive for what appeared to be left over cold food served to us The whole experience was disappointing and will not be repeated. We were given at 25% discount ,but in my opinion should have been more.

No rib eye steak left for a 7pm booking on steak night. So, we had a very dry, rare fillet steak. Others had sirloin, which was so tough they couldn't eat it. It has to be the worst steak I've ever tasted. Then we complained, and the manager (Kev) agreed to knock the 2 un-eatable meals off the bill, which was fine. The bill came with a number of items we had not had or ordered. So, we won't be back. Overpriced and poor quality food, a real shame 🫠.

Amazing Sunday dinner and service! 5 star

Decided to give greedy duck a try, had a bit of a wait to get to our table and to place our meal order. However the server was amazing and explained why there was a delay. The starters were superb, my mushroom soup was just beautiful. Slightly disappointed with my main pork dish as a little dry, lacking sauce. Unfortunately it was quite cold as well in the main bar. To say they were short staffed the team were professional and really attentive to their customers.

Really enjoyed our trip here, all the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Had a 22oz tomahawk steak with peppercorn sauce which was brilliant, however the menu has a lot of variety, and plenty of choice. Everybody's food who i was with looked excellent, and all 9 of us were very pleased.

We went for lunch today and was greeted with a wonderful hostess, we ordered a pie and chips and a special burger, we both enjoyed very much and our host was very attentive, we will be back again soon

Lunchtime menu is quite limited though I expect dinner would be good. Service is very good.

Was there on a Wednesday for steak night. It took a while before we could order. Ordered the rump steak with bearnaise. The steak was a bit fatty which normally isn’t the case with rump steak. The sauce bearnaise was a bit tasteless. But for the 15 pound it was ok.

Went to the Monday quiz. Enjoyed it although we couldn't hear the questions being read out. Food is good if a little expensive. Overall good

We were over this way for a couple of nights, and fancied a nice pub tea - we weren’t disappointed. We had halloumi bites to start with the chilli jam - so tasty. Then we had steak pie with chips for our main. It was delicious, and really good sized portions. The staff were really friendly, and the whole place had a great atmosphere. Would definitely come here again, and would most definitely recommend :-)

We did the 2 courses for £15 so you can not grumble but I would say the starters were better than the mains!

Lovely pub, super old fashioned decor. Staff were amazing but was unbelievably busy! Not for the claustrophobic could barely move! Wonderful place to visit if not busy!

Food wasn't too warm and the gravy wasn't too flavoursome. The price they charge doesn't reflect what we received. In response to the abrupt reply, yes, we did say it wasn't too warm. To which we got a "oh sorry about that". My husband and mother in-law spoke about it too. Perfect temperature for our smaller children though 👍🏻

We came here for a Sunday dinner with my in-laws and we were really impressed with how nice the food was. We all had a different roast (mine being the veggie option) and all were just as tasty, it felt like "home cooked" rather than batch made. I'd agree with some other reviews that the gravy could do with some attention but it wasn't bad, just a bit basic! Will definitely return and I love the fact it's dog friendly 🐶

Called into the greedy duck for some lunch with my family and there wee dog. We had 4 posh finger sandwiches and chips they were delicious also soft drinks in the meal deal. The staff were excellent and is dog friendly which is a bonus. Lovely views out of the back window.

Avoid eating here if you can't have gluten. My wife has coeliac disease and had a really bad reaction. It was worse than just a little cross-contamination. They obviously served something with a significant amount of gluten in it. We had checked in advance that they could accommodate her, she only ordered items clearly labelled gluten free on the menu, and we made her requirements very clear to the server when ordering food. The restaurant was almost empty apart from us, so it can't be blamed on being too busy. It's disappointing because otherwise it was a really enjoyable meal. Lovely surroundings, tasty food, and friendly staff. We would happily come back if it wasn't for the gluten issue.

The food is incredible, and on a normal day, everything runs smoothly. Service is impeccable and spot on. However, after seeing an ad for their bonfire night event with promises of activities for the kids, we went. The queues for drinks were ridiculous, 30 minutes it took to just to get a drink from either bar. There was nothing for the kids to do from what we saw/found. The playground part was no longer there either, which left most of the kids just idling about. That being said, it was a great idea to have a marquee up as it was baltic, and everyone was lovely. The singer was fab and set the vibe! The staff were working their best and still had a smile on their face. Just a bit more forward planning and preparation would be recommended for next year; more staffing, activities etc.

Partners birthday and couldn't have booked a better place , from entering to leaving was made welcome, every dinner was cooked to perfection. The staff couldn't do enough , carnt wait to go again .

First time we’ve visited Greedy Duck as we have heard a good reviews. Food was OK, meat was the best but about the meal. Gravy was like water both in taste and thickness. It was advertised with certain veg and we got other veg… roast potatoes and carrots had been made earlier which you could tell with taste and appearance. Service lacked oumph… whilst staff were friendly only one member of staff looked like she knew what she was doing.. a couple of tables were complaining about numerous stuff. Would I go back? Probably not.

Have seen lots of great reviews about this place so thought I'd better check it out and wasn't disappointed. We had Sunday dinner 1 pork and 1 lamb and we really enjoyed both. Have booked for the steak night on Wednesday so looking forward to that
