Truffles French Restaurant in Fareham

A great little restaurant, amazing food. Sadly only a few people in there, they definitely deserve to be packed. Presentation of the food is excellent and flavours are very good. Highly recommend

What amazing food!! Just had the loveliest of evenings at Truffles where the food was exceptional. There were four of us and all the food was well cooked, beautifully presented and an absolute delight to eat! Two of our party work in the industry and were highly impressed which is quite an achievement. Truffles is an absolute gem of a place.

A lovely experience, the staff were really friendly and the food exceptional. The starter was a delight and very tasty indeed. The main course was very tender and had a wonderful array of tastes. The chocolate brownie desert was very light indeed and was delicious

Been coming here for years. Perfect if you love food quality rather than quantity. We always manage 3 courses. Great selection of wine of offer. There aren't any restaurants that offer this kind of food quality in Fareham.

We loved it. Our anniversary meal was truly memorable and we will go back. Each of our starters, mains and desserts looked and tasted amazing! Well Done Truffles. You deserve 5/5.

The food was prepared with skill and flair. The menu showed ambition and confidence and we loved it. A really good meal when we expected not much more than pub grub.

We booked this place for a special occasion as it was our first wedding anniversary. We reviewed the menu and picked this one out of many for our special treat. We did mention this upon booking but no mention during our visit (coming from a management hospitality background we know this even being mentioned would be a special touch) The menu was slightly different to the one that is online and the prices were also slightly different. My husband had the pork which was disappointing. It was quite chewy and the cassoulet just tasted like tomato puree. My beef was cooked nicely but I just found it odd that they would serve it with bubble and squeak...which did not taste of much. I know we should of mentioned this before we left and also during the meal. But it was such a small, intimate setting we felt awkward in doing so. We also know everyone's taste is different but we could not help but feel disappointed after spending £20-£34 on each of our meals which we were not overly impressed by.

Absolutely excellent in every way. Food, staff and restaurant utterly incredible. Go.

We had an excellent anniversary dinner at Truffles. Friendly and helpful waitress. We had been recommended to visit by friends and it did not disappoint. Each of our 3 courses was well balanced and perfectly cooked. Well done to everyone. We look forward to our return.

Pleasant staff. Limited choice of soft and alcoholic drinks. The meal was good, but the pork dish was somewhat tasteless. Desserts were delicious and coffee ☕️ excellent.

Small and intimate restaurant, nice atmosphere. Really good menu, we all enjoyed our food and were very impressed. The lamb I had was cooked perfectly and so tasty! Elderflower dessert was also amazing!! Friendly service, felt comfortable and welcomed.

We dined at Truffles in Fareham high street on a cold Saturday night in February, but from the moment we walked in we felt warmed by the atmosphere and the very polite lady who served us for the evening. After ordering drinks we then got seriously into discussions on what to have. The starter of fish cake with a beautiful sauce and red lettuce was a strong start which I didn't want to end. My main course of belly of pork tasted absolutely sumptuous with carrots and a lightly mashed potato, haggis and stuffing all with a gravy that just kept giving. Yes the decor is a little run down but did not distract from the very high quality of dishes available. My wife had the venison as a main meal and it was superb, I shall try that next time. A great restaurant, do try and visit.

Went to Truffles last Wednesday and had a great time! Food and service was exceptional, really happy with the whole experience. Was a little empty, maybe not quite half full so given atmosphere 4 stars but it didn’t detract from our experience. The venison was unbelievably good. My partner is pescatarian and there were plenty of options, a few vegetarian options as well.

Totally AMAZING! We have lived in Fareham for many years and knew of the reputation of Truffles but some how managed to miss it until yesterday. This has to be the best in Fareham for an intimate dinner with friends or just couples. I guess there were about 16 other diners in the restaurant the ambience was just right. The main event, the food! Each and every course was cooked and presented to perfection. Hake, Pork Loin and Venison - excellent. The Velouté was out of this world and the desserts amazing. The cheese board packs some flavours and the presentation brilliant The service and welcome (same friendly lady) was warm and attentive. Our total spend of 3 courses for 4 with wine, water and a couple of 0% beers was around £50 per head. Don't miss it!

Best meal we have had in ages. Steak perfectly cooked. My fish was delicious. Desserts were equally good. Service excellent.Highly recommended ,we will be back

The restaurant was delightful We were here for my birthday dinner. We were the only 2 persons booking dinner, but it was a lovely evening. The food was delicious, we were full, but my husband ordered a sweet for him to take home. We had a great evening! Will look forward to going again.

We visit this restaurant regularly as a couple, but for our last visit we brough a friend along who was as impressed as we were. The small menu, which changes every couple of months, ensures that the food is really fresh and of a consistently high standard. One of us is a non- meat eater and the creative vegetarian dishes are some of the best I've eaten. The restaurant itself is small, so it always has a nice intimate feel. The service is attentive, without being intrusive. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Simply excellent food! Ate here with friends and we were all thoroughly delighted with the food - the restaurant itself is small (probably 20 covers) snd modt other tables were occupied but bur service was good, and the food arrived in good time. Pork & Mustard Croquette and then Roasted Cod were my choices - both were delicious, and even had room for a chocolate brownie. Wine choices excellent and vegetarians catered for (although slightly limited choices). One recommendation would be wider choice of alcohol free drinks...

My wife took me to Truffles for my birthday. We had a perfect meal with reasonable wine.

Recently visited as it was rated at 1 of hundreds in Fareham. Rating is well deserved, excellent food, good service and nice atmosphere.

Went here for dinner on a Friday Night. Just because and it was delicious. My pork fillet perfectly moist, the venison perfectly rare. The restaurant is nicely spaced and offers a small menu of seasonal dishes to meet most dietary requirements. As ever a wonderful dinner we all loved. If you have not tried this restaurant please do it is lovely.

Amazing food! Lovely, friendly service; a really positive experience all round! I am coeliac and dairy intolerant and it was all no problem! I had a delicious dessert of coconut milk pudding with pineapple and chilli salsa and a coconut tuille!! Awesome!! thanks for a lovely evening! The art on the walls by G Bowaitch , (I think!) is also really inspiring and fits perfectly with the decor!

Sehr originelle, aber qualitativ hervorragende Küche. Große Weinkarte mit Schwerpunkt Frankreich. Aufmerksamer, die aber nicht sehr herzlicher Service. Das Ambiente ist eher schlicht und die Straßenfront unauffällig. Küche und Weine sind aber erste Wahl. Wir Empfehlung!

We was invited to visit some friends who just moved to the area and they selected this restaurant and what can I say the food is absolutely unbelievable I’ve not had such fine dining in many of years if I lived closer, I would be a regular customer from the moment you walking to the moment you leave. It’s the best experience of service and food cannot wait to visit again.

Everything about the service and food was impeccable. I took my partner for his birthday and we are both still talking about the great experience we had there and if we find ourselves in the area again we will 100% return. Thank you Truffles and the lovely and polite lady who served us. :)

First class food, cosy atmosphere and friendly staff! Five stars! We hadn't been to the restaurant since before the pandemic and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Some indicators of a really good restaurant:- Small menu with no specials, meaning that all the menu items are special:- check Good wine list with carefully thought out options including local options where appropriate:- check Food doesn't appear immediately, in fact takes long enough to have been cooked from scratch:- check Portion sizes are just right, not so small as to leave you hungry and not so large as to leave you bloated :- check The food we had was, quite simply, superb. The service attentive but not overbearing, friendly but not overly so and helpfully informative and, whilst not the cheapest restaurant I've been to extremely good value for money. We went on a Saturday night, for my birthday, as it happens, and had a wonderful time. I cannot recommend them highly enough, definitely for gourmets not gourmands!

My family were all very satisfied by both the service and the food in Truffles. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, and the food was great. Some dishes from different menus were fairly similar, but distinguished enough to both warrant being tried out.

This small and intimate restaurant in the High St, Fareham is a little gem. The food is outstanding. On speaking to the owner we were advised that the menu changes fortnightly. If you haven’t eaten here, you must give it a go. You won’t be disappointed.

Lovely food in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Service is spot on, attentive but not overly so, food is superb, complemented by good wines and other drinks.

From the beautifully cooked food to the wonderful attentive service, the whole evening was fantastic. All the courses were a delight. We will definitely be going back soon.

Fantastic; amazing food, lovely vibe, fab service. I couldn’t fault anything here, the starters were possibly the best starters we have ever had anywhere, the mains were cooked to perfection too and the vegetables added taste and texture in all the right ways (my wife thought the veg was underdone, I disagree).

Gorgeous food. I had Navarin of Lamb and spring vegetables followed by flourless chocolate brownie, grand marnier ice cream and brandy snap. It's all freshly cooked to order and utterly delicious. Friendly service and lovely songs playing quietly in the background.

What a find. Friends we were visiting took us here for dinner last night. It’s a rather unassuming looking little place - the sort one might well walk past… Don’t walk past. Go in. It’s worth it. We enjoyed fantastic quality food, carefully and lovingly prepared and served by the friendly and attentive owner. This place has something special - think classic French Bistro cooking, but with a twist: Tandoori venison scotch egg; espresso martini panna cotta… and excellent steak and an unexpectedly impressive wine list. If you’re anywhere near Farnham - eat here.

This is a wonderful little restaurant with exceptional food and drink, a varied and exciting menu with a significant wine menu. The attention to detail never disappoints, great value for amazing food, beautifully presented with good portion sizes. We will return again and again.

We went for my birthday celebration and had a wonderful meal as we do every time we go. The service is excellent and again always is. We will be returning soon.

We have been here for a wonderful meal before but this time was a huge disappointment where I think the cost of living crisis has impacted the previous high standards and overall dining experience. The restaurant had a musty smell and it was actually quite cold in the restaurant, heating was absent.Took ages to thaw out that night. There was very little atmosphere, no quiet background music on and only one other couple in the restaurant who sat at a table so near, we could hear their conversation and it made us feel like we didn't want to talk. It wasn't a nice, relaxed experience at all. Along with the food, the atmosphere is part of the experience. One lady serves and whilst she is polite and friendly, there was little professionalism, dressed in jeans and jumper, like she had just been shopping, it doesn't fit the image of the restaurant. We all understand child care issues happen but it didn't feel right that the owners child followed mum around whilst serving and the lovely young lady needed attention whilst sat doing her colouring at another table. So, the food, after all that is important: a very limited menu and my first choice wasn't available. Our meal was well presented, smaller than previous portions and a lot of beans as a ratio to meat. Flavour was pleasing . Truffles could be fabulous again but the owners need to quickly reassess if they are to regain repeat custom and not permanently diminish their previous good reputation. Sadly the experience has put us off rebooking.

A small menu with top class choices. Great wine list. Makes a change to have food cooked by an experienced chef. Definitely will be a regular choice for special occasions without formality.

Wow, we had the chicken ballotine cassoulet and it is AMAZING, a must have while it is still available/on the menu. The tenderest, juicy chicken, wrapped in Parma Ham, and a cassoulet sauce TDF, which has bacon and Morteau Sausage. 10/10, brilliant, thank you so much, so clever.

This really is a little gem of a restaurant. Superb food, chef James quite amazing with his creations. Friendly service too. Don't normally manage 3 courses but did on Thursday night as all so delicious. Highly recommend.

More than a meal. The service is great, the environment welcoming but the food, oh the food is wonderful. The flavours complement each other rather than overpower. The quantity is enough so you don't feel hungry and you have space for more and did I mention the flavour. The menu is limited but the choices you have are more than enough. If you want chips go to harvester. If you want to experience good food cooked well then Truffles is where you should go

Went here for meal 2nd September. The food was exceptional both in taste and presentation. A very talented chef. The service was fast and very good. There were 4 groups of people eating in there on this eve and we were all so impressed by the food that we went down to the kitchen and gave the chef a round of applause. So many eateries are huge franchise chains with slow service, loud music, too many people and not enough staff for an ok but the not exceptional meal. This was the opposite. Food was also carried to you using a clean cloth so your plate is not handled unnecessarily which is a minor but important thing that is sadly lacking in most eateries. Flawless all round.

Visiting my mother in law in a local home and stayed in Fareham. Strolling around looking for something to eat and stumbled on this place ( last time we tried the Italian opposite, we prefer the intimacy of Truffles ). Great fresh food. Seasonal menu.
