Great food & service in a modest-sized restaurant. Simple interior and furnishings. Just a shame that at the end of the night the chef didn't want to converse or acknowledge my presence. Makes such a difference if the chef checks that everything was okay. Encourages one to return.

I went for lunch and was made to feel very welcome by all the staff.. I chose cheese sandwich and chips. The sandwich was very well filled and the bread fresh. The chips were plentiful and delicious, the side salad really nice. I had coffee to finish which was hot and gorgeous. The environment is delightful. Quirky and rustic, fresh and clean with an abundance of fresh flowers. Thank you Nook and Cranny. I'll be back 😁

First time at the Nook & Cranny and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was delicious and well presented. A bit pricier than what we would usually go for but worth the money. Will be back and recommend to others.

My friend and I were holidaying in the area & this place came on recommendation. We booked a table in advance for a Sunday at 2pm, it was a hot day, and the windows didn't open next to us so we asked to move and the Manager (a lady who appeared to be in charge) was accommodating & offered us an alternative. The place was busy! Initially my friend was served the wrong drink, however the barman, rectified this straight away. We ordered the last of the two specials that day, unfortunately I had to spit out the first couple of bites of my beef salad due to gristle, and what I assumed was a bit of bone. I struggled to cut the beef, it was very tough in places. The chef was apologetic and I ordered the duck leg instead. When it arrived I was most disappointed at the size of the meal, especially as it was £18.95. It was tiny with just 2 new potatoes cut in half and a tiny duck leg with little meat on it atall (see photo) We were served by whoever was available with little consistency, however the staff were polite and helpful. I didn't want to have to complain about a second meal, so we ate up, had a bit of ice cream and left. Lovely little place but the food let me down on this occasion sadly.

We went with friends to Nook and Granny. We originally looked at menu online as my wife does not eat red meat. The menu had changed but I asked if there was anything else on the menu she could have. They were wonderful gave me other suggestions and could not do enough to help. The staff were excellent. Lovely Christmas atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

I truly enjoyed the fillet steak dinner, which David Edwards gave only one star. I must disagree in every aspect. My medium/rare steak was perfectly cooked and accompanied by five vine tomatoes and a large portion of perfectly cook chips. Personally, I would prefer that the chips were not frozen. But since this dish is the only one where chips are offered. I must accept frozen but perfectly cook chips as the norm. I have extremely traveled through most of rural France and the Nook & Cranny is better than the majority of restaurants we have enjoyed in our travels and better than anything locally, by a distance! Unfortunately, the restaurant is located in the only rural location for miles around. So is not a busy as it deserves to be. Until discovering, whilst living locally for fifty years, I have never had a reason to drive to Hook, so never discovered the restaurant’s existence.

Went her with my wife and son who is 2. We had menu and both decided to have the steak dinner. Now I do love my food and have eaten at very nice places. When our steak dinner came out I was absolutely in shock. A steak dinner should be enjoyable, but there was no mushrooms, no peas,no onion rings nothing on the side. It was half full of skinny fries, 3 full tomatoes on a vine and the steak. And all for £30 oh and pepper sauce. The owner sat on a table 5ft away with all her pepper work and laptop it was such a put off, time and place and infant of people eating their meal. I asked waitress if I can have a teaspoon of red wine in my sauce and was told the chef always make pepper sauce with red wine. Tidy. The worst pepper sauce ever, not a drop of red wine in it and salty as the sea. Good job I'm from Wales and was on holiday in Southampton, but I will never go there again. Big mistake.

From start to finish it's a taste experience. We were lucky enough to get a table at this small restaurant on a busy Friday evening. We were offered drinks as we looked through the menu. There were approx 5-6 starters and equally as many main courses to choose from. On a Friday and Saturday night, I believe they only offer the a la carte menu. Midweek they offer a set menu as well. My husband chose a onion consummé with a gruyere cheese puff - this was divine and served out of a glass tea pot. I had the cured salmon and scallops. Both starters were divine, beautifully presented and memorable. Dishes we would most certainly order again. For our main course, two of our party decided to have the Southdown Lamb (pictured) and I have the Dover Sole with pea and mint puree and large chips. (Not sure why I didn’t take a picture of my food, but I think I actually got distracted and began to eat before I remembered the picture!) The Dover sole was a fabulous twist on fish and chips. Totally divine and the most memorable part was the pea pure and the succulent fish portion! The Southdown Lamb was a great hit. Not only was it beautifully presented it was also a very large portion. 2 lamb steaks were placed on top of the dauphinoise potatoes, along with a portion of slow cooked lamb. We couldn’t resist the Baked Honeycomb and Ginger Alaska and decided to share this dish. Every bite was amazing. The service was friendly and efficient, without being overbearing. The food is brilliant. Most certainly worth a visit!

What a gem! We were looking for fish and chips that offered a gluten free service and found Holly Hill. Wow! Portions were generous, chips were cooked to perfection and the fish was delicious. Service was excellent, with really friendly staff. Gluten free options cooked in a dedicated separate fryer daily and my coeliac daughter loved them. We will most definitely be back again! Thank you so much :)

A good experience with Yaprak Food 5/5: Everything was quick, fresh and very tasty. We tried the hot platter for a starter - the Mucver and the Muska Boregi was absolutely delicious. (It was quite a big portion for a starter so we ended up taking the mains home, because we couldn't eat more.) As a main I had the Goat Cheese Salad. I was very pleased with it. So many restaurants don't care about offering / creating healthier options. I'm glad they do. My boyfriend chose the Lamb Shish dish with Yoghurt Sauce. He loved it. Service: 5/5 Our waiter- and the service overall -was exceptionally good. Hygiene: 5/5 Restroom/ tables, cutlery was clean and tidy. Atmosphere 3/5 The restaurant is too small for that many tables. It was a friday evening so it was understandably busy but it was too noisy to have a conversation (even words). It was too crowded, too overstimulating to me personally.
