Love this place, great food and always friendly. Efes beer is good too.

Poor service and rude staff. Portions were too small and we had to ask to get all the foods that were supposed to be included. To top it off, just an hour before our booking they said they don’t have space for our big group.

Always the best at everything. Troy has been a family staple forever and it was lovely to actually sit in and have a meal. I was still stuffing food in my face despite how full I was - I think that says it all!

Lovely atmosphere and a varied menu of excellent food that is cooked right in front of you. If the weather is nice, there is also an upstairs area and a small terrace. Food choices are wide and even though what we had was excellent, we will be back to try some of the other options.

Walked in and was seated straight away without a booking. Oh my gosh, the food was lovely! I ordered the houmous and the mixed grill, and I wasn't disappointed! The meat was cooked beautifully. Even the sauces were so tasty. Would recommend a visit!

Lovely little place serving great food. Nice relaxed atmosphere, very clean and well laid out. You can actually see the food being cooked on the charcoal grill, we were sat right by it! 4 big lads we all enjoyed the Troy special mixed grill in the photo. It wasn't as big as it read on the menu, but that was a good thing as we were all stuffed from it! Turkish beer was good too. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Would not recommend. Tapas size portions. Ridiculously over priced. Struggled to even get through door due to a large party of people left in the doorway clueless.

I'm not one to leave bad reviews. I don't think I've ever left a bad review in my life..But after this evening, I can't not. We booked a table for 6pm. First of all when we arrived, we were left just stood by the doorway for roughly 10-15 mins. There was 8 of us, so as you can imagine, it was quite hectic with customers coming in and out. When we finally got seated, we ordered 2 hot meze shares which stated would be enough for 3 people. When they arrived, they had 2 bits of hallumi, 2 falafel, a spring roll type thing and 2 tiny Feta triangles..in the centre was a small dollop of hummus. Definitely not worth the money and everything on the platter we thought to be rather bland. Onto the mains, we ordered 2 mixed grills, 3 lamb shishs and a special lamb dish with Aubergine sauce. Well, I have never ever been so utterly disappointed. The lamb dishes were just 4 small pieces of lamb just thrown onto a plate next to a tiny portion of rice..the mixed grills were tasteless and didn't come with what was stated on the menu. They were also absolutely tiny. Not even enough to feed a child. The special lamb dish with the Aubergine sauce was bland and there was nothing special about it. The 4 small pieces of lamb were just thrown on top of a salty sauce. There was no Aubergine in site. We had a few soft drinks and a few beers. Our bill come to a whopping £217. I'd avoid this place at all costs.

The staff was so friendly and welcoming, nothing was to much trouble . The food was incredible! We had the cold mezze platter to start , everything was so fresh and flavoursome. For mains between us we choose chicken shish and mixed grill , the meat was cooked beautifully so tender and full of flavour and the salad was the best I've ever tasted. Such good value for money. Looking forward to dining at this lovely independent restaurant in the future.

Always a fantastic meal. Have known Ersin for years, even back when Troy was on City Road. One of my favourite meals in Cardiff

Very good (but...). We had the Mixed Grill. It was cooked to a high standard. The risk with this type of food is dryness and over/undercooking - there was nothing of the sort here. The standout was the lamb, followed by the chicken wings. On any future visit, I'd go for a lamb-only dish. The accompanying rice was moist and the salad was fine - it came with a lemon quarter, which was good to squeeze over the dish. The free bread bowl was a welcome addition, best when it (inconsistently) arrived warm to the table. The ethnic-Indian girl (I don't have her name) waiting on our table did a great job - friendly, effective and efficient. For the most part, the smoke from the grill is effectively ventilated out of the restaurant interior but nothing's perfect and some is to be expected. The main problem is that there's an unfortunate setup at the rear of the restaurant, where the main dining area and the hand dryer is separated only by a single door (often open). That means diners on tables towards the rear are subjected to frequent full-volume one-minute blasts of the hand dryer, which is hardly makes for a pleasant dining atmosphere. I don't know what the owners can do to solve this, but it would behove them to try. Paper towels would cost more but for them, I think the cost would be worth the improvement to the dining atmosphere.

Been eating from Troys for over 15 years, the kebab wraps never miss the mark. Lamb shish, chicken shish, lamb kofta are my go to's.

Visited here in June on recommendation from a friend. Staff were very welcoming on arrival and we were seated upstairs/outside on a lovely evening. For food we ordered the Hot meze for two as a starter - Highly recommend For mains we both had the Tavuk Shish - again highly recommend. For desert then you can’t go wrong with there Baklava. Food was excellent and tasted extremely fresh. Can’t wait to go back Many thanks

To be brutally honest, the food was very disappointing. I was expecting far better given the reviews.

Went in this great little Mediterranean restaurant to find a spotless dining area and the wonderful smell of cooking food. Salivating before I even took my seat. The menu was full of fantastic food, so ordered a couple of small plates for a starter, then a mix of meats for a main. Crikey the portions were big. And the food was beautifully cooked. Tasted fantastic! Watching the food being prepared was an event too. Service was second to none. Had a warm welcome. Felt looked after. Not rushed. Will be heading there again soon!

As we like to eat out quite a bit we decided to give troy meze a sample , and was not disappointed. Staff are so friendly and helpful. We managed to sit directly across from the grill where they were cooking all different meats over the charcoals. We were presented with breads and dips for free to start 😋 for main course I went for the mixed shish with rice and salad . Was delicious. Safe to say we will definitely be back 👌

Food is good consistenly good here, service is also reliable with a good selection of both alcholic and non alcholic drinks. As a vegetarian there is a good selection here, both in platters, main dishes and sides. One of my go to in the area.

Absolutely lovely kebab, and a nice place for a date night. I'm not a big fan of the chips myself, but my partner loves them. The selection of meats are delicious, cooked on a big grill in the middle of the restaurant. If you eat in, the restaurant is a nice place to eat and the staff are very friendly. You can also get food to take away, which was just as nice.

Exceptional service by troy , the balcony upstairs and bar is amazing 🤩 More importantly after many years of visiting the food is always fresh and tasty 😋 me and wife and a great few hours , such a shame the sun didn’t last as long as this great restaurant..

Went there yesterday for my husbands birthday dinner. Had to change the reservation from 6 to 4 as we had some people drop out but this wasn't a problem for them! Food was amazing, husband and I had seafood and our friends had the meat and it was all cooked perfectly. Reasonably priced for what we ate too! Lovely atmosphere, great smell! No stars missing but the music they had on was obviously a CD and kept skipping what as a bunch of millennials we found amusing!

This place is incredible!! The staff were so welcoming, helpful and friendly and you can see the food being cooked over the open fires so the atmosphere is tremendous. And the food!!!! Wow!! Everything we had was superb but the chicken was probably the best chicken I have ever had, so beautifully cooked and seasoned. As soon as we left we were trying to think of excuses to go back next week.

Had a reservation but when I reached, there was no table. The hosts quickly resolved this. The service staff seemed relatively new. They were pleasant to deal with. The food was tasty and well presented. Only qualm was that starters came after the main and it appeared there was more attention paid to regular customers than new comers. I would recommend it as a place to try out as perhaps the day I visited was too busy, hence my experiences.

Delicious, freshly cooked food cooked over hot charcoals. Really generous portions and was informed by staff it was dog friendly which is a plus!

The restaurant is nice and cosy and the staff are friendly, but unfortunately the food was in a very bad condition for example the chicken was not cooked and the prawn was old and not as expected taste to have.

Dropped in for dinner at around 17:30, me and my wife both opted for the mixed grill, the food was very tasty we really everything. Had a side of chips which were freshly cooked and crispy. Atmosphere was relaxing, with old Motown and soul tracks playing in the background. Service was very..::the free bread and dips to start with were delicious but I had to stop myself from feasting on them because I wouldn’t have finished my main course. Definitely recommend….we will be back

Friendly service but my food choices were disappointing... Patlican Esme I'd hoped would be more akin to baba ganoush but it was more akin to a plate of plain yogurt. Waitees recommended the Tavuk Sote Kurdish chicken cooked in tomato and peppers.. small cubes of chicken in a tomato onion pepper sauce which was very bland. Worst recommendation ever (for me at least.) My friend had the mixed grill which looked ok.

I'll give it a 3.5 star rating, had a ribeye steak on bone which was abit dry and plain for my liking but otherwise okay I enjoyed d the meal but it could have been better with a little more seasoning. Portions were decent, nice music too

Consistently good food. The menu is large and varied, and the prices are reasonable. Service can be a bit hit and miss but, generally, it's a great place to go for dinner and drinks.

There was loads of chilli in the kofta (beyti) not mentioned on menu. Unfortunately I ordered it for children. Bread a little stale. Half of my meat was burnt. Good atmosphere and service.

amazing! We went to celebrate my 2 daughters birthdays on the 20 th October and what a fantastic night we had! The food was delicious and very reasonably priced and the staff were really helpful and friendly.They brought out the birthday cake we supplied with plates and sang happy birthday with us.they even gave them a complimentary drink each. we will definitely be returning.

I have been going to Troy since they first opened in their old premises around 15 years ago both as a takeaway and an eat in customer. I used to visit frequently but I no longer live in Cardiff. I make sure that I visit every time I come back, maybe every 3 months. The food is stunning, Troy offers an authentic Turkish menu and a variety of drinks. My go to is the lamb shish but I have had the Mantar kebab the last couple of times adding mushroom to the kebab and also have an additional kofta. As said the food is stunning, it is selected and cooked right in front of your eyes on the charcoal grill, there is nothing hidden about the experience at Troy. The service is always fantastic, the owner Ersin is a very friendly and engaging person and likes to build a rapport with his customers. Troy isn't a faceless place with no personality, I feel like I am visiting an old friend when I go there and Ersin always recognises me even when I haven't been there for months and comes straight over to say hello. My father visited for the first time tonight and he commented that the atmosphere made him feel like he was visiting somewhere on holiday. If you are in Cardiff make sure you visit, enjoy the stunning food and soak up the atmosphere of this fantastic venue.

Food is delicious but portions are small. Usually my family is full after dinner in similar restaurants but not here.

Very small portions for the price and the food is very average, for £12.50 I got a few pieces of unseasoned kebab shop meat and some microwave rice, they also offer bread out like it's free but charge you for it.

I've been a few times before and always had good food, this time I was very disappointed we had three mixed grills and it was almost as if they were using up what was left, I never knew a mixed grill consisted of so many chicken wings, surely the clue is in the word "mixed"

I was there with my partner and 2 kids. We ordered Troy special,Sea Bass and King Prawns Grill and Sea bass was perfect but The King Prawn was like joke. It was not fresh and they were very small;better not to serve like that. They need to be more friendly with their customer and little bit more smile on their face.
