Albany in Cardiff

Lovely local pub. Great night on Tuesday at the quiz and great atmosphere in the beer garden. Huge improvement under new management. Very welcoming Landlady and great pint pulled by Landlord. This pub is well worth a visit or two or may even become your local!

Had an amazing night playing the pub quiz (might be because we won). Brilliant atmosphere and very friendly patrons and staff alike. Paula ran the quiz and was very accommodating and brought a real sense of fun to the quiz. Lovely range of beer and ales on offer at a reasonable price. Will definitely come again thank you!!!

We love the Albany Hotel. It’s a great atmosphere and very welcoming. My wife and I bring our two young children and the staff are always very friendly. It’s always very clean.

This is a hidden gem of a place. Away from the busy pubs in Cardiff centre.

Albany hotel is a great pub. As a local I do feel the decision to get rid of the jukebox was a poor one. I heard rumours that new management are being sort at the Albany, this seems to be a recurring theme. This pub could do with some stability. I think the Albany could benefit from offering some food. Beer garden is one of Cardiff’s finest.

1st time visit to albany hotel .. Roath's best kept secret .. plenty of big screens for the sport and spacious bar area and large outdoor patio with heaters made it a great venue for myself and my buds

I hosted my birthday in the skittles alley of The Albany and had one of THE best nights. The owners were so kind and welcoming to my friends, we had the whole space to ourselves for the party and it was glorious. So so grateful and will definitely be back soon!

Always been a great lil pub to visit. Went recently for the 1st time in about 5 years and will definitely visit again.

I would to Thank Nicola, Stephen and the team for the very warm and friendly welcome, we booked the lounge for a wake the space was relaxing and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend The Albany, lovely atmosphere and great prices.

A great pub and a pillar of the community. Very few pubs in the area have the community feel that the Albany does. Especially like the Irish music sesions on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. No obnoxiously loud speakers, just great music being played. Good beer selection. Primarily Brains cask ale. Has a skittle alley and a small "secret garden". I do hope that the great community feel is continued and that this pub isn't ruined by Marstons as they've done to so many.

What a lovely pub wanted some where new to go and this wasn't far for me n I loved it, great space lovely people and a family run pub which is rare now. So worth going beautiful beer garden n a fantastic atmosphere I will definitely be going back again.

Dog friendly bar in an old school Cardiff boozer.

Fine pub, allows dogs. Lots of space, one side is nice and warm. Smoke comes in from the outside. I’ll visit again for sure.

Regrettably the new landlord has decided to inflict noise on his customers in the Lounge by insisting on intrusive and totally unnecessary music and sports commentary in what was previously a quiet zone. What a shame, when there is a bar in the same premises, he couldn’t allow an area of relative quiet to coexist! Can’t recommend to anyone who just wants a nice quiet drink. Sad. Update: 30/10/2023 The new management team at this lovely pub have arrived and restored its former lovely operation Thanks

Lovely people nice food very cheap

My ultimate frisbee team regularly go after training. Good selection of drinks, friendly staff and now food make for a great post training social.

Friendly and welcoming pub and I will be happy to return here when I am next in the area.

Yes a great back street put great for students and residents, But, there’s a problem here, bar man with a beard/facial hair, drinking behind bar as he’s working 3rd June 2023 after 5pm, and a so called landlord drinking on shift and pouring his on drinks/bitter,? It literally unprofessional, Not happy with new management He lets people sleep as there drunk, Absolutely unbelievable I wouldn’t trust him

If I could give more stars I would. I recently booked out the back room of The Albany for a suprise baby shower and Peter had not long taken over the pub and needed some TLC. The job Peter, his staff and his family have done to that pub is phenomenal in such a short space of time and the secret garden in amazing too especially when they get that outside bar open.They opened up early so my balloons could be delivered. They provided us with a buffet for 40 people and every single guest complimented how delicious the food was. They offered to keep the cake in the fridge because it was boiling during the party. We had access to the jukebox for free courtesy of Peter putting into his own pocket to put into it. The whole team went above and beyond and I will highly reccommend them going forward. Top night and thank you guys x

Lovely lovely lovely place. The Brains Dark on tap for £3.40 is an absolute steal and the pub is a true traditional local pub. Love my time here every time I'm in Cardiff.

How you came up I don't know but I'll try.. Umm been a lot of yrs since having a pint here...friends lived across the street...Joey's shop was in full swing...the best pint I have ever had bar none. ..love The Albany.. I grew up on Diana Street... When the afternoon crowd would leave I would say " give us a kiss love " oh I was 8 or 9 ...let's see how long this stays up... I'm coming sweet nectar!!! 😋

A uniquely delightful pub, beautifully poured pints with an abundance of deals on offer. The secret garden out the back is nothing short of magical. In particular the gorgeous blonde girl never ceases to put a smile on your face. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to relax for a drink with exquisite atmosphere.

The Albany has always been a good old fashioned local pub which, over the past few weeks, has been even better under the new landlord. There is a pleasant atmosphere, excellent service and consistently good beer! A great place to meet and have a chat with friends over a drink or two. Keep up the good work.

What an improvement in under 2 weeks!! Loads of locals returning and we're very optimistic that the Albany can return to being a brilliant, friendly, thriving local. And the beer is exceptionally well kept. Keep up the good work. P.S. wife delighted that wine request taken on board.

The Albany is a proper old school pub which is refreshing with all the modern day refurbs going on! The owner and staff are lovely and they have a great beer garden with reasonably priced drinks. We've also enjoyed the skittles alley when we've been there for our Keep Roath Tidy meetings. All on all a fab pub and I highly recommend :o)
