Last night I arranged last minute to meet some friends at Troupers bar. Thankfully it remains the institution it’s always been. Upon arrival I seen him across the room. Recently acquired perm flowing in the gentle draft from the door opening at irregular intervals. Jamie John Jamieson, the John being optional of course - standing at the bar as though he’d never left. Indeed a testament to what he think of troupers. I ordered a Guinness from Spencer’s sister (name unknown) and began the social experience. As the seconds passed my attention was increasingly drawn to the seductive temptress that is a settling Nectar Noir. She was looking at me, her cloudy swirls gripping my attention relentlessly. I knew what was coming would be better than a recent trip to the Queens bar. Right enough it was. Now the Guinness wasn’t what you’d find in Dublin…..however, the advantage to that is a reduced risk of being involved in an impromptu car bombing. So overall it’s a win win. Service 10/10 Nectar Noir 8/10 Overall experience 10/10 Beautiful.

Visited today and the man behind the bar was kind enough to take our bags while we went on a walk to pick them up after. Watched the rugby and the vibes were great. Good selection of drinks and a real classic pub feel. All the regulars and staff were so friendly. Definitely worth a visit if in stonehaven

This is a real town centre dog-friendly boozer, with local regulars and a sprinkling of visitors. Staff are excellent, welcoming, approachable and helpful. Regulars are welcoming and happy to chat. Usual beers / drinks - nothing special.

Really horrible place, expensive and down at heel. It felt colder inside this dump, than it was outside.

No frills are apparent in this hostelry, but there was no shortage of friendly conversation in this drink only pub.We called in just by chance for a drink. The staff were friendly and the drinks and prices were fair.

If you want an archetypical example of an ordinary Scottish bar, then Troupers Bar certainly fits the bill. On entry, the functional bar is directly faced by a long, plastic covered bench with three tables and extra stools, while the end of the bar opens up to accommodate a pool table, darts board and a few extra tables and chairs. And as you might expect, there is a television on the wall. And if you think that this preamble is setting the scene for critical comment you would be wrong. I found this to be a wonderfully ordinary pub with good service, friendly atmosphere, and a cracking pint of Tennents. It’s pretty good really.

This is a proper Scottish Pub, that remains customer focused for the duration of their visit. Great place do not change what you are doing.

We stopped by this local bar, located in the harbor after visiting Dunottar castle. The system of ordering is probably universal in Scotland but I did not know, so after waiting in the table for 20 mins or so I decided to ask in the bar, and ordered and took to the table all the drinks (for 12 people) as well as the food, which was OK and a bit expensive (a hamburger was 12 pounds!!!)- Beer selection from the draft were good. Can not say if staff was friendly as we pretty much served ourselves...

Popped in while waiting for a bus. Decent selection of beers, jukebox and friendly staff. A local bar without any pretension to be a destination.

A good place to meet and chat over a few beers. Live sports on regularly and a quiz every month. Good selection of lagers and ales.

Nice wee pub. Good location for transport to north and south of Stonehaven. Friendly and bright. The stops are across the street. If there is a choice between this and the Market Bar thing here because it has a better feel to it.
