Good selection of garden needs and a decent cafe

GPH has all the garden essentials and more! The coffee shop is a favourite and we often get a great breakfast and brew, even some lovely cakes! Highly recommend a visit!

Apply for a mortgage before going here. Cafe looked bare. Nothing welcoming. Didnt eat here like we had planned. ppl rave about this place. Seriously don't know why.

Formally JRD, I remember when it was on park road years ago, it's a cracking wee place with has everything you need. It's a little pricey, it's ok if your popping in for a few bits, but it's too easy to spend a fortune.

Poor service, poor standard of food. Chaotic really. Not good value for cost. Will not go again. The food was not of any decent standard. The burger was bare, the fish fingers overcooked and the homemade pie on the menu was not available. This was at 12 noon! Two meals arrived before the third. At least they apologised, which is why I gave two stars!

Very good selection of materials and gifts. Crossover between superstore and ironmonger plus a really good cafe 'Broomies' with a great selection of wholesome food and pleasant staff. Ample free parking.

Great prices for Cuprinol and hardware. Excellent afternoon tea with no need to pre-book. All the staff very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Waited half an hour for two coffees and scones. Scones were ok, but only strawberry jam available. The coffees were dire, just hot water with a touch of milk. I took them back. Got another two, exactly the same , just hot water with milk. They assured me there was coffee in them this time!! £3 each for cups of hot water! And they charge you in advance to make sure you pay for their rubbish. Would never go back, it’s dire

Cheap fish and chips from a freezer! £10.99!!!!! Decided to pop in for something to eat while our dogs were at the groomers. We looked through the menu a few times and stupidly picked the 'North Sea Haddock and chips! As we were only a few miles from Peterhead, you think, fish and chips. When they arrived we were mortified! It was a frozen battered piece of fish, that looked like it had been thrown in the oven with the chips. Unbelievable. But it got worse. The batter was soggy. So soggy! The fish had grey bits inside, and tasted like no other fish I'd ever tasted before. Even in The Mediterranean, Africa and Asia! It was small soggy and tasted rank. The chips were mostly small and hard. Peas, I'm not sure they came from. Had fresher bread! Normally I'd eat the lemon, but I didn't. First time in years. Now, when you think it's £10.99, it's disgraceful. If we'd known that the fish and chips were gonna be worse quality than freezer shops, we wouldn't have gone at all. But, no one came near tables until you have left! I did want to take them back, but we looked at the audience and decided not to. We left with not one word from the staff. What happened to asking if everything was OK? I like that because it doesn't embarrass everyone

Been going here for a long time and lately they have definitely impressed me. Had a lovely scone last week, it was so light and fluffy that it’s the best one I’ve had anywhere in years. I had the bakewell slice today and it was delicious, I also had a latte which was really nice and hot with no froth. Most places nowadays are half cold and a huge amount of froth. I think we will try the breakfast next time.

Myself and my wife have been regulars, but in the last few months quality of food, portion size and standard of cooking has dropped through the floor. I'm afraid we shall no longer be customers. Doing simple food well should be easy enough, but without care and focus on customer satisfaction, nothing is going to work. Food arrives almost cold, on plates which haven't been warmed - a gammon slice barely cooked and in a steamer rather than grilled - poor, slap-dash "cooking". Something has gone badly wrong - which is a great shame - very disappointing. We shall have to try and find an alternative place to grab some food when we come into Ellon.

We went in for hay & came out with a doormat,dog treats, over the fence plant pot,food storage box , shed handle & micro shovel ! It's just that kind of shop.

Went here for a quick meal on a Saturday with my partner The restraunt was not busy maybe about 4 to 5 tables already there Went to order 2 soups and 2 chips cheese and gravy 2 very simple things We received our soup 30 mins after ordereing And that was only because I had to go and say we were waiting Our chips with cheese took another 20 mins after that to come On complaining all we got was a shrug of the shoulders Soup was very bland and thin The gravy on the chips and cheese was like flavored water Do not think I will be visiting again in a hurry

Plenty of stock to suit all in store. The refurbished Café is wonderful.

Great place for a rummage around. What a diverse stock it has. Lots for the tradesman or DIYer. Some things a little pricy perhaps but you get what you pay for. A good garden centre to explore adds to the shopping experience. Nice checkout staff with helpful advice. Cafe available but didn't look inviting for some reason. Worth a visit.

My chicken fillet wrap took way too long. Bad service overpriced and had quite a dull flavour there was also a queue

Went in for lunch today with 3 friends. Had to queue for 20 minutes to put in my food order. The area above the coffee machines had dust falling down from a top shelf and when we got to our table it was so sticky and dirty. I’m sorry to say I won’t be back and would not recommend to anyone.

Original well-stocked DIY store amalgamated with building materials supplier. Excellent range of products and attached restaurant open all day with good range of lunches available.

Great local DIY shop, can find most things there. Definitely recommend the cafe. It has a fenced in play area for toddlers, and the food is brill. *Edit* the toddler play area has been removed. still a nice place to eat

Vast improvement from the bad old days of the former regime. You can see the products now for one thing. Staff still not great but years of mismanagement can't be undone overnight. Good progress.

We had the most delicious afternoon tea to celebrate my mums 70th Birthday & 35th Wedding Anniversary. Went in for a snack biscuits were stale coffee tasted like it had been heated more than few times they table was sticky it wasn't great the time before and we decided to give it another try but never again if we didn't pay when we went in I wouldn't have paid

My Wife and I popped in for lunch on Wednesday 30th June at 12:50pm. for the first time. Five minutes later we ordered Fish & Chips for both off the very limited Menu of just 6 Main Courses. The meal arrived 40 Minutes later, (the Restaurant was busy but not that much), and the meal was semi warm. If we hadn't paid in advance we would have walked out. We did complain, but after waiting so long just decided to eat it vowing not to return anyway. We noticed someone else complaining about the delay in serving. Be warned !

JRD is one of those places that have a bit of everything and one of those places that you end up buying something even though you didn't intend to. Well I do anyway. Been a while since I've stopped for a fly cup and a piece but it was great at the time.

It's ok. Not like it used to be . Clothing is expensive brands compared to what they used to sell before it was bought over. The range of items has dropped also.

Sale items good but over priced especially the joinery tools.

COVID-19 restrictions were in place but even considering this, the wait to get served was unacceptably long. The coffees were very bitter and very weak due to over-extraction. The latte was far too hot and the milk had scalded. The place looks like it needs money spent on it, as the walls were bare, the tables were old and warn, and some of them had napkins under the legs to stop them wobbling. The whole atmosphere felt like someone had put some old tables and chairs in a warehouse. The staff were friendly and I think were doing there best considering the conditions they had to work with.

We had been once years ago and found it to be very good. It was clean and while I can’t recall what we had to eat or drink I remember it was perfectly ok. We popped in for a quick coffee midweek recently and immediately noticed how unkempt it has become. Tables were littered with crumbs and detritus, even the ones which were supposedly ready for use. The floor was covered in dropped food. Now I agree that customers themselves should not make such a mess, but it’s still on the restaurant to clear up after them. We ordered two coffees and a soft drink. The milk for the coffee arrived in a jug with bits of goodness knows what swimming on the surface. My husband asked for a replacement and the next jug as just as bad. By this point we gave up and didn’t dare drink our coffees. Also worth mentioning that during these times of heightened risk, they are handing out chrome table numbers to everyone. Covered in fingerprints and clearly not wiped between use. Also contactless payment still requires you to press the green accept button. So every single person placing an order is fingering that same button. Not seen that anywhere else. A shame they have clearly been unable to maintain the high standards they once had.

this is the place top go for all those DIY things you need. Cafe open, but the real draw is the tools, paint, garden stuff, motor spares, cable, plugs, hooks, ropes, chains, locks and so many other things.

Quite expensive and doesnt always have everything you need but it's more convenient than driving out to b and q which is quite far away.

A lot of DIY materials, not quite your B&Q but not bad for a local shop plus it does have a cafe if you need food.

A great shop, you can usually get what you need for the home and garden here, saving you a trip to a bigger store. I've come here for years and it just gets better. It was a little busy when I was in and social distancing was becoming harder to manage. They could be doing with a one way system for the narrow aisles to help take the stress and akwardness out of meeting others coming the other direction.

Always seem to have what you need somewhere in the shop and really friendly staff.

Normally supplies everything but they are waiting on a lot of new stock arriving.

How dare a place in times of emergency try and RIP off customers by charging £2.29 for a bag of sugar and selling bulk bought pasta resealed in unlabeled and unweighed packets for a RIP off price ..no alarigins declared. No use by date or country of origin,Totally against the sale of goods act ..they should be fined by trading standards..

Had an Americano here recently, which to be fair was reasonably priced, but to add milk they charge £1 for a very small jug, which is poured, right in front of you, from the very same 4 pint carton you buy in Asda for only slightly more than this. Rip off. Out of principle, will not return. Was served by quite a young girl so didn't have the heart to complain directly to her as it's not her fault!

Cafe very busy when we arrived. Ordered a Panini & coffee. Asked if I could have my coffee at same time as Panini but was advised just to take it when I paid. Waited 25 minutes for the Panini. Coffee was finished by this time. Think it would not be unreasonable to be told there would be a wait when I gave my order. Saw several people asking when their order would be. Very disappointing & quite pricey.
