Good food and a great atmosphere

Went here before the football, good atmosphere great service from the bar staff. Unlike some places, there were plenty of people on hand to serve

Traditional bar which sells a good selection of gins and whiskys as well as draft beers and bottles food is nice and hou can get two course for £12.99 nice friendly staff

Friendly staff, great food at good prices & to top the lot it's dog friendly.

Listen we came in today and received the weirdest greeting ever being asked if we were getting lunch. We had our two kids with us and just said "no thanks we're just getting drinks. Are we allowed to sit in the garden?" we were told yes. We start walking out to the garden when we are followed by the guy who then asked us the same question. We gave the same reply. We then sat at a table and he asked us what we wanted. We asked for a half pint of coke a pint of tennents and a fruit shoot. After he then told us he can't serve us drinks without us buying food because we had the kids. So I then said "oh, can we just have two half pints of coke and a fruit shoot" to which we were told "no we can't serve you any drinks without you buying food because of the kids." I then said "what two cokes and a fruit shoot" to which he said "nope it's against the law". Never in all my life have I heard of it being against the law to serve us cokes and a fruit shoot without food. I could go to wetherspoons and get a drink of tennents or coke and it would be alright. Overall they were rude and tried to con us into buying food when we just wanted drinks then tried to tell us it was against the law. Load a crap honestly. Been a few times for food before but we're never going there again because the way we were lied to and treat.

1st time in for a meal. Tried the steak pie, it was excellent. The young lady that served us was very good. Gave us a list of everything and also the specials. Only gave it a 4 stars for atmosphere as it was only 12:15 . But hopefully I can come back again.

Food is always amazing and the beer garden is the best around.

Went here with my rangers top on and got knocked out. Can’t remember what happened after that. Would not recommend!

Perfect pint of Guinness, friendly staff, fair prices and really good food. The beer garden has a separate bar and fully covered seating. Great for families, groups or on your own. Live music at the weekend. Will visit again very recommend.

Went in with my mum for mother's day for a wee change. Nice crowd, friendly atmosphere. Nice staff. Quick service. Had 3 courses each and drinks-well worth money, absolutely stuffed, food was amazing. Great if ur in to Watch the football or have a nice wee meal.

Food went down hill love a steak pie and chips from here but today pastry was like card board chips where hard and so was the carrots steak was still lovely though but won't be back didn't enjoy the rest

Your choice of pub in north lanarkshire will say much about you. The Tavern is loved by its patrons, thought of less as pub and more a much loved institution by those who frequent this establishment. Great food. Brilliant service. Televised football and music. This pub has it all. A great place to unwind after a hard week at work.

My wife and I met up with our daughter and future son in law and Milly the 🐕 we sat in beer garden which was covered had heaters and also a bar outside so no waiting for your drinks order food was delicious staff friendly and helpful will definitely be back 👍 😀

Went there on Saturday for a mates birthday and had a great night the staff were very welcoming and good beer.

I've been a few times for food, but the portions are too big, far too many chips , veg, ,rice ,quite off putting, nachos would be better if home made, mac and cheese too oily, maybe do small and large portions ? Steak pie is lovely ,Love the pubs atmosphere, staff great ,

We went to the Railway Tavern in Motherwell today for lunch for the first time the staff were nice other than that this place was a disaster my pint of beer was flat we had a lintil soup to start the soup was very salty my wife couldn't eat it I ate a little the waitress asked was the soup OK we said no to salty she took the plates away next the steak pie junk but the chips and veg were ok the worst £38 we've payed for lunch

Excellent food, that good my fussy eater wife enjoyed and finished her food. Staff can't do enough for you. Friendly staff, clean place. Have been back a few times now since my wife loves it. Go where the boss is happy lol

Service always good here. The back garden area is nicely thought out and decorated. You wouldn't know you were in Motherwell. Drinks reasonably priced too. Always busy with a good atmosphere.

We hadn't been in years. I managed my wheelchair in no problem & the staff were lovely & moved a chair to allow me in. I managed a lovely gluten free & dairy free steak pie (without the crust). we both had soft drinks, but alcoholic drinks were available. We will definitely be back again soon

A dog friendly pub in Motherwell town center. It was full of locals and had a good atmosphere. Much better than the wetherspoons down the road that wouldn't even let us sit outside with our dog.

I had the Cajun chicken burger and it was amazing!! 100% recommend

Was in the area for work but made to feel very welcome by the staff. Great whisky selection. Definitely recommended if you're in the area.

This is the sister pub of Mint Coatbridge my local..The lentil soup was outstanding I have never tasted such a good bowl of soup in a long time. Food fabulous, friendly bar staff, very comfortable, warm and friendly atmosphere highly recommend and will pop in next time am over that way..

Great outdoor area, food is really good and portions are really generous, well worth a visit.

Really great spot, would give 5* but the price of drinks are nuts, was £5.90 for a regular beer. We're in Motherwell, Not high end Glasgow. Such a shame, great decor and outside aera is fantastic, just sort out the price of Beers.

Been in a few times and it's always fairly busy. Good food which is very popular, so booking is probably best to guarantee a table. Live sports shown on several large screens and is always packed when a decent game is on. Just round the corner from Motherwell train station. Well worth a visit.

The Railway Tavern was ahead of the curve when it comes to an outside Beer Garden. You can see they had the customer in mind when they designed this. Cozy booths, open areas all under cover with a outside bar and seven screens to watch the sport and heaters generously spaced. I ha e been her three times since they built this and everytine it has been great. Great food, great service and a great Beer Garden.

we went here for a quick meal before going to the concert hall it was very good a friendly greeting from the barman made us feel welcome, ordered a drink and gave our name our booking was under and was shown to a table, girl came with menus we both decided on the Mac and cheese it was really good came with garlic bread and salad, service was fast and meal delicious and reasonably priced. it was our first time in this pub and I would definitely recommend it and I look forward to going back. A big thank you to the barman for dropping us off when our taxi didn't show up

We went to the railway tavern in Motherwell for the second time . The first time the fish supper was great .but Today it was so so bad .me and my wife ordered fish supper and tea and it was cremated to a burn crisp dark brown and rock solid .wee only eat th soft bits .and complaint about it all .it was the worst fish meal wee have ever had .and wee let the wee lass no when she asked . Never going there again .wee were there at 11.45 on Tuesday for lunch ..and the after Nast took hours to shift .only good for a beer 🍻

My temporary local. The beer is cold and the service is quick. The garden out back is great for relaxing with a drink and watching a bit of sport. Nicely covered in case of poor weather with heaters and cool lighting.

A group of us managed to meet up after a year. We had a table reserved outside in the covered beer garden. All the booths outside had tv's and the service was brilliant. 1st time I'd been in this pub for several years as I no longer live in Motherwell. But want to go back. Great atmosphere and staff.

Great pub in the centre of motherwell. Prices are high for the area. Did have a good beer garden with plenty of sunshine getting too it but they recently updated it and now it's almost fully coverd over. Both have their benefits but I personally preferred the older style.

Outstanding beer garden, a lot of money obviously spent on it, will be amazing in the winter also. Had lunch with my daughter this afternoon, lovely food, fantastic tunes, fabulous service. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend to friends.
