Triple Eight in Bournemouth

Hong Kong sweet and sour chicken was so overcooked I could not eat it. Chips were like bullets because of being again overcooked.

Because of the pandemic, we hadn't had a chinese takeaway for a couple of year so when we moved here we tried a number of local takeaways an weren't impressed at all ........ untill we ordered from 888. They really do have the best Chinese food in this area. The service is friendly and the delivery is so fast. I will definitely be eating with them reguarly.

I only ever order from here these days. The food is banging and I suspect some of the previous reviews are not honest as the quality of this food is extremely high. The smoke chicken is next level. I always collect though so cannot comment on delivery. I’m ordering tonight.

Absolutely disgusting. The worst Chinese in Bournemouth, discussing service which was literally shocking and the food was even worse. It was thrown in the bin because we waited in the shop for over an hour, our food was thrown all over the floor and still served to us and tasted gross. I wouldn’t even feed this to a tramp. Do not recommend and avoid at all costs.

Absolutely disgusting service, waiting over an hour for our dinner to be thrown all over the floor to still be served to us. Disgusting, awful, unacceptable . I would never order from them again in my life. Unhumain. The Chinese was disgusting and not worth the wait.

Without a doubt the tastiest Chinese food we’ve ever had, absolutely perfect .. definitely worth the money very very impressed

First time ordering. Gorgeous, hot food, arrived super quickly. Tried a few around Moordown, Charminster and Winton and this is definitely a favourite!

Have used this Chinese takeaway for many years . Very polite service , helpful etc . Food always great .. until yesterday for Chinese New Year we had friends around to celebrate and a couple of the dishes were just not up to usual standard . Beef in black bean looked nothing like it should .. more like chewy meat in onion gravy . No sign of a bean and a bit too spicy. The spring rolls that are usually so Devine we’re also not the same. We had heard they have a new chef.. please let’s hope they work on these dishes ! Also hoping this was a one off as busy night .

This is the place for us now. Really tasty food, great chicken wings. Everything we have had from here has been spot on. Food was a little late but it was new years eve so understandably busy. We rang and it was on it way. Pleasant friendly service.

Overall, the food quality is best I have in this city. And staffs were super friendly as well, answered all of my questions.

I will start this by saying I have never ever phoned to complain about taste before. It's never been that bad that I wouldn't soldier on and eat it and then just quietly move on with my life. I called up tonight about the Thai Green chicken curry, a dish I have eaten before but never like this. I had to complain as it tasted like it was comprised of rotten cheese and smelled unbearably vile. When I called up asking for that one dish to be refunded I was told no, but offered another dish in future. I was prepared to take it but when I pressed them on it I was told that perhaps it was me that was at fault and that I didn't know what it was meant to taste like. So, offended I turned down the offer of the free meal and did what any sensible person would do and write a strongly worded review. Avoid this place like the plague.

I've been using this takeaway for a number of years and found it to be the best by far in the area but last night I ordered sweet and sour prawn balls and prawn chow mein, the sweet and sour sauce was cold and congealed, the prawn balls were overcooked and burnt, the prawns inside were hard and inedible and the pawn chow mein was tasteless plus they have hiked up their prices by about 10%

Our order was right on time.It was well-packed and hot. We ordered several different dishes, all of which were excellent and competitively priced. Definitely will use again.

Just had a delivery, we have been regulars for the past year and was expecting the same style food as we usually get, however although it was lovely, it was completely different to what we have been used to from this restaurant., the 888 special fried rice didn’t have an egg and was full of veg, the bbq sauce was totally different as were the salt and pepper chips & shredded smoked chicken, feel a little deflated as we were really looking forward to our meal and had to double check the menu to see if we had ordered the right products it was that different to what we were used to! Due to the changes this is just a good standard Chinese takeaway now not the excellent food that separated it from the others x

Best Chinese we have ever had, so tasty and well cooked. My children have said not to order from anywhere different from now on!

Ordered al large take away though just eat with directions and payment and the restaurant cancelled my order without explanation. This would have been my first order but probably not the last. I will not be trying to use this restaurant so 888 has not proved lucky for them!

Not sure what happened but the food has dropped in quality. Chicken balls were dry, sweet and sour sauce was vile and a horrid brown colour, chicken in the chicken fried rice was dry and lacking (only had about 5 bits) price has sky rocketed didnt mind in past as was so nice but this time it was not worth it. The black bean sauce was like tar and only very small bits of beef, and the spring rolls tasted like chemicals Have always loved this place in the past

Always an awesome meal. we have been using 888 for over 5 years and it’s always consistent, we have literally never had a bad meal from them. Good sized portions and always piping hot on delivery. If you’re looking for a decent meal, look no further! Thanks guys as always. A+

I usually love a takeaway from here I don’t know what’s happened but everything I ordered was just horrible, I didn’t give one star cos it’s not dear, and my dog ate it but still what a let down

Not sure if Triple Eight has recently been taken over but we will no longer be ordering from our favourite take away food was so bland my fav won ton soup tasted awful egg fried rice was more like boiled rice with a bit of scrambled egg and peas gross absolutely Gutted.

Was ok but says now won’t deliver to my postcode when they always have before so don’t know what’s happened guess I’m ordering elsewhere, very strange.

I didn't enjoy the flavour of my chicken curry and the meat was really soft. The smoked chicken was OK but none of it really impressed me. Disappointed given their star rating.

Not great quality meat, sauces a little watery and thai curry rather bland

The food was great, but the original delivery time was an hour after the order was placed. The status was updated to en route and then changed a few minutes later to delayed by 20minutes. The food arrived about 25 minutes later that stated when ordered. For Chinese food this was a really long time.

Delivered early as per the app which gave an expected delivery time of 1hr 20mins after I had confirmed the order. Order arrived 1hr after the order was made so was 20mins "early". Restaurant only 0.6miles away so expected a slightly quicker turnaround. Food was good.

Decent, prawn crackers and spring rolls provided. Generally tasty, good soup. Ribs were small and the seaweed lacking something. Very salty and sweet.

The food felt like it was yesterdays heated up and the beef was way too chewy and fatty

Overall I’m satisfay with the whole experience but I had better Chinese food. The mini spring rolls were slightly burnt and the two mains, chicken noodles and prawns noodles, tested exactly the same which suggests they probably used the same sauce and just added chicken and prawns at the end before packing. As I said, the overall experience was okay and I’d probably order again but there is room for improvement in the food.

House special rice was AMAZING!

The food was great, in fact better than usual (especially the chicken yellow bean - wow), but they only had one delivery person so it was late, and one of the meals had spilled out onto the others in the plastic bag. Not the usual service unfortunately.

First time we used them and would definitely again, really really enjoyed it and would 100% reccomend.

Chips tasted like cold carboard they had to be thrown in the bin. Prawn balls small compared to other chineses. Advised after I paid delivery time was 90 minutes

Food was great delivered piping hot and ready to eat, though the stir fried vegetable dish I ordered was very disappointing, too much pac choir and too many bean sprouts, tasted nice but very bland in colour and texture, as a non rice or noodle eater this is an important part of the meal for meal, please revise the ingredients

Hot and sour soup was like sweet and sour sauce and lots of veg in rice and noodles but not much rice or noodles spent a bit of money and just got small spring rolls as freebie

Have had food from here a few times but was a but disappointed this time. The chips didn't taste that fresh and were lukewarm. The chow mien a bit lacking in flavour..

Second time ordering from these guys. Impressively quick delivery and good quality food. Definitely reccomend

Food's great, It is my favourite Chinese restaurant in the area. Although the last couple of times I've ordered tomatoes with prawns and they send something else.

From Surrey, to London to Canterbury - I've had a good few Chinese takeaways and I've never come across one as good as Triple Eight. The food was fantastic quality (a bit too oily though) and more delicious than I imagined. For anyone who is new to the area or unsure about which Chinese place to order from, give Triple Eight a go!

Great food, don’t normally order from here but really impressed, great quality sweet and sour pork. Friendly service when late order was chased (it was Chinese New Year!) and friendly delivery driver. Will order again.

Not sure if had Change in owner or chef but I've used these in past over past 4 years and been nothing special n given up finding Chinese That isn't always disappointing But this was so good very plesent surprised. Tried something different char siu loved it

Ordered at 7.15pm, got confirmation saying would be by 8.55pm, thought seemed along time but nothing can do if they are busy, food eventually arrived 9.15pm, 2 hours after ordering. some not very hot.

Nice tasty food as usual, but delivery was just over half an hour late this time. Food was thankfully still warm. I would order again from here as I like their food and I've never had to wait as long as tonight for delivery so I'm putting this down to a one off.

Awful service...our small order of food didn’t turn up after 2.5 hours. To make it worse the restaurant staff member was unhelpful and kept saying it would be just 20 minutes more, rather than being honest. Eventually we cancelled but as is always the way, the evening was ruined by that point

The delivery man came to my door and he looked annoyed and I said I was waiting for you to call me and he replied he tried calling me twice, but I had no missed calls off him and when he went 10 mins later I had a text saying some one was on en route. So what if I was on my way back from somewhere and I want in??

Delicious food but horrendously long wait time! An hour and 40 mins for delivery is a bit of a joke... Restaurant polite and apologised when we phoned. Checked and said driver had to go to petrol station! Driver didn't apologise. Food however was REALLY lovely, meat was lean and tasty, veggies fresh and crisp, sauce delicious, and free crackers and spring rolls. Would order again despite the wait... But order 2 hours before! They should commend chef, thank lady on phone and sack the driver who's obvs taking the p!
