Trent Lock Golf & Country Club in Erewash

I’ve only been playing golf for six years, but this is the worst condition golf course I’ve ever been on

Went here for my first round of golf with my girlfriend got there the guy at the reception was incredibly rude we was playing the 9 holes and had no idea where to go for the start and had to ask another gentleman where to go. The course was okay but do wish i went elsewhere for my first round after going other venues i realise this is not the case everywhere else.

Today we went to golf course in there restaurant. Tuna mayonnaise salad. Two spoons of tuna mayonnaise and lettuce leaf’s. No tomatoes, cucumber, onion like a normal salad. £12.50!!! Absolutely disgusting they think they can charge those prices for such poor food. Many people was complaining about there food saying far to expensive for poor food.. We complained and asked for refund. I have just been to a top hotel in Hampshire and didn’t pay those ridiculous prices for terrible food. We won’t be eating there again. I feel sorry for the staff serving such poor food.

The course was in great condition and the food was excellent.

It pains me to give a 1 star review as working in the public sector, i know that it can be a thankless task when dealing with some members of the public. But ....... you have to employ people with the right attitude and at the very least a willingness to help and understand your role as a spokesperson and the public face of the organisation. I have never come across someone so ill suited than the chap on Reception - dismissive, uninterested, unsympathetic and overcharged !!! Needless to say - I will not be going back - Plus they are charging top rates for a course in mediocre condition which in itself is poor customer awareness.

Went over for an hour or so on the driving range and really enjoyed the great tech they have to allow you to track and improve your game. As an inexperienced golfer I felt no pressure or unwelcoming atmosphere, and it was really pleasant to just hit some balls in peace. The receptionist was extra friendly and informative and even offered to give 5 mins of help next time I was over to improve my game - first rate customer service all round

No idea what the guys problem was on the phone but never in my life have I even written a review but this one deserves one, the guy on the phone had the worst attitude I’ve ever experienced, I only asked if I could book a tee time (using polite language as always do) and I’ll be honest I told him to do one with the way he spoke to me, completely out of nowhere, maybe he’s having a bad day but there’s nothing like putting customers off that much it results in them having to write their first ever review, personally would avoid this place, it’s almost like he didn’t want anyone to book a tee time, I did get warned about a similar situation here but I thought I’d make my own opinion before listening to others

You'd be hard pressed to find a warmer welcome, or better set up to enjoy playing golf. 2 courses, the 9 hole being more mature, a superb club house, restaurant and driving range. Add in a large American golf shop and you have everything you need. The owner and team couldn't be more helpful or friendly. Its the right side of relaxed but with the respect for the game. Highly recommended

Awful customer service from the proprietor! Don’t book an event here, they cancelled after accepting the booking, leaving us without a venue last minute.

Bit dated, definitely needs a lick of paint and a lot of the decorations and courses fixing. (The poor faceless crocodile xD) Though I put this down to it being the end of the season maybe? But it was good fun, the courses were pretty varied with some difficult holes, and some included water hazards. Maybe not worth the amount they charge for it until it's cleaned up.

Worst greens I have ever played on in my entire life. 1 star is giving this golf club too much credit. £30 greens fee for a course that I wouldn’t pay £10 to play had I known. I’d advise all golfers to avoid this course and save your money as it’s actually a joke how bad the greens were. I’d say the greens had about 30% grass on them and that’s being generous. 18 greens that were basically like putting in bunkers, at the start of September… wouldn’t come back if they paid me. AVOID AT ALL COST

Myself, my two children and my Dad who we were visiting from Cheddar where we live, wanted to do a crazy golf course, which didn’t disappoint, we all loved it! However, the kids had a portion of chips each, my Dad had a chip cob, I fancied the prawn cocktail-£8.50-I expected at least a king prawn or two for that price and really nice cold water prawns…they were obviously frozen and not defrosted well, were chewy and tasteless, really really disappointed after a great few hours. I didn’t complain at the time as I didn’t want to spoil our day but it would’ve been 5 ⭐️ if the prawn cocktail wasn’t such a let down for such a steep price.

Always have a good time and lots of laughs. Would recommend to anyone.

Regular at trent lock although not a member. Thoroughly enjoy the venue, the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are two courses, riverside (18 holes) and Canalside (9 holes), both offer a good challenge and are in good condition. I used the golf range today that is very good, there is also a short game area, now open I believe. The locks bar seems open, but obviously restrictions are in place and the American golf store is also open, they too have a very helpful team. For families there is also a 9 hole crazy golf course that is very popular. I would recommend to all to try as there is a lot on offer.

A really nice meal the roast beef was soft tender and tasteful not forgetting the veg. A really nice Sunday roast

Cracking 18 holes after work. It was fun playing the 18th in the dark listening to the plops of water. Foreeeeeeeree!

Great round on the nine hole but could do with a little more upkeep especially the brown weed on the greens. Nice few pints of Fosters and nice Scampi and chips.

Went for a meal to celebrate my parent’s anniversary after flying in from New Zealand. The meal and service was terrible and I would describe the food as the worst I have ever eaten(this being everyone in the dinner party not just one meal)We complained on the night and in writing with several message left and still haven’t heard back from the manager or owners wouldn’t recommend at all don’t waste your money….

Says on Google that they are open to 21:45 on the Sunday, turned up and they are closed at half 7👎👎👎👎

The Adventure Golf for kids is badly maintained. I was not impressed when I visited with my two grandchildren. The man behind the desk (possibly the owner) was brusk and unfriendly and the Adventure Golf itself was in a mess. The waterways are full of weed and leaves, the rope pull rafts are either broken or so badly maintained that we had to climb down onto the rails in order to cross the filthy water. Not worth £6 per child.

Play the 9 hole with a mate it was his first time at Trent lock he loved it and we both had a great time

The 9 hole canal course needs a lot of maintenance! Also needs more considerate players who know how to repair pitch marks on the greens and replace divots on the fairways. Safe to say I won't be playing there again

By far the best driving range around. Mark who served me was so helpful and polite. The community here is excellent. I love how children are welcome and the tracking facility is unbelievable! I’ll be back for sure!

Driving range - *WEEKENDS* What difference does the weekend make!? Minimum balls is 60!? Not very good at all when you want to have a quick warm up before a round!

For the price the course isn’t great. We paid £22.50 each for a 4pm tee time, the course is very immature and flat giving little to frame shots. There’s a number of water hazards on the course which add interest, but with the flatness of the course these can get slightly lost. The greens rolled true and had some nice contours, however the slow pace prevented some of the slopes from being as impactful as they could have been. The flat, easy walk could make this a good beginners course, but for the cost you could find significantly better courses, particularly late afternoon.

A nice little pirate themed crazy golf course. Part of the Trent Lock golf club. Was great when it first opened a few years ago, but has deteriorated rapidly during Covid lockdowns. The pirates are literally armless, the water features are dry and manky, the crocodiles lack limbs and other parts.

Went for mothering Sunday on 27th March 2022. Overall food was good. Just let down by the waitresses. They were often just stood around looking into the bookings and talking. I had to ask for drinks and bread. There was a mix up as to how many meats we could have off the carvery. After the main course, our table wasn't cleared for ages, they didn't seem interested.

Lovely meal in nice surroundings. The salmon was very good.

They won't hire out children's golf clubs after 3pm! Pretty poor imo.

Had great fun playing adventure golf with the family. However spoilt by the very poor meal in the bar after. All food was overcooked, chips hard and dry. Definitely not up to standard. Have eaten here many times in the past and had some lovely meals - very disappointing.

Sorry to say a poor Xmas lunch today. In the past been very good. Not enough staff to cope with numbers and table settings meagre no side plates and no butter. Sliced toasted bread was served in the soup and leaves and bread with patè had been standing for some time. Mains acceptable but veggies awful soggy and parsnip and carrot batons had been deep fried. Pud soggy pastry, a crumble of meringue and tart berries. Such a shame as 2 years ago it was an amazing g event.

Good days golfing and excellent food

Crazy golf - have been here before and would have given 4 stars however on this occasion it was a little bit worse for wear. We didn't bother completing the course and even then one of the holes was totally flooded.

Food itself was lovely, no problems there, however we booked for a group of 17 for a 30th birthday, to be told upon arrival that we were unable to have any decorations on the tables. We had also taken a cake to be told that wasn't allowed either. I had spoken to various people throughout the week regards to the booking and not once was any of the above mentioned. It seemed like they needed more staff on for a sunday lunch, we had paid an £85 deposit but still had to ask for it to be removed from the bill when given. Overall it was a pretty poor visit and had it not been for a very lovely, helpful staff member named Louise this review would have been an awful lot worse and we as a group and separate families would not be returning.

went there yesterday for a wake , No one to great us on arrival, out of all the beer pumps on the bar all they had was foster or pedigree, cider bad start. Not a very nice bar person I'd get shot of , Tables very sticky need good clean. Food not much of for 30 people could of done better myself ,sandwich just like you would give to your kids, chips just about edible. The restaurant was very hot, yes hot outside I get that but with COVID-19 no windows Open. No condiments on table.If you wanted tea or coffee no spoons or sugar we had to ask for. In my experience of life this is a bad place to go for anything. Never again will I ever returnt to this place. I have to give this a one star because it won't let me post this with no star's.

Nice place for a game of golf. Decent bar staff also especially the new Lady Paige.

MISERABLE, AVOID! Electronic devices now disallowed in bar which precludes our entire family, unless we apparently rent office space or a meeting room. Apparently no celebration cakes, balloons or any celebration materials allowed so booked Risley Park instead where we were made to feel really welcome.

I throughly enjoyed my visit to the golf range with 2 sons and a thirteen year old Grandson. I hired a left handed club and 100 balls for £10. I knock 1 star off as there was only 1 out of 20 booths for a lefty and I had to find out for myself where this was. Grandson had a great time with us....away from xbox etc...good result!

Great place, both for golf, on the 9 or 18 hole course, but also for something to eat and drink.

Service really bad need more training and to learn to smile

Poor service, food and atmosphere. A party of 11 of us for a big birthday were excited about the visit (as we had been on prior years and really enjoyed it ) - never again. They appeared short staffed and most of them were not wearing masks. The food menu was limited, the prices had gone up and it was poor for the money. We had a birthday cake but were told we could not sing happy birthday - fair enough, we were ok with this, but we were not even allowed to present it to the birthday girl. The staff had been inattentive all through but soon came rushing over when they thought we were getting the cake out. We will find somewhere else next year.

Great place to enjoy some stress busting with friends. We really enjoyed it & the staff members were all friendly & helpful. Overall a great experience & will go back again.....many more times. 😊

Nice golf course and clubhouse. Course is flat but testing. Quite a few water hazards and bunkers. Fairways are wide enough but rough is unforgiving so stay straight. A couple of doh legs and greens are true and fast. Quite a bit of walking between holes and some areas where holes are close together listen out for cries o fore.brung your crash helmet. Course in great condition.

Good clubhouse large shop decent bar, very good range with ball tracking.

My review is of the bar. I visited last Saturday, it was very quiet in the bar, there were only about 3 other tables in. The service left a bit to be desired, (none of the staff were wearing masks - maybe all are exempt, if so, at least wash your hands after coughing into them) no small talk just 'what do you want?', service was then very slow. Food was fine but no salad dressing, was told they only have mayonnaise, no dressing or salad cream. Our server then took food away from us as we were still eating and we had to ask for it back. Then sarcastically asked us if we had finished with our empty drinks glasses on his next visit to the table. Nothing was terrible, but made use feel a bit awkward. Perhaps a little more etiquette training would be useful? (I worked serving tables before so I know you can have an off day but this isn't an isolated event)

Lovely course,greens superb but let down by some tee boxes, Bit scruffy and bare. Fairways good. But overall well worth a round and will play again. Food was average,service great. Half Steak pie!!!???,chips peas gravy And home made sponge treacle pudding, I think it was? and a spoonfull of custard. £13.50.

Our first meal out since last September. Was really disappointed with the limited menu, compared to what it used to be and the limited range of beers available. Regrettably not as good value as it used to be.

Organised a corporate golf day at Trent Lock and the team there were fantastic - cannot recommend enough!

We went for a meal.at the Trentlock Golf Club Sawley ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌ But because the resteront was full. We told to eat the bar saction. The attitude of the bar staff NOT FN. good at all. They spoke to you as we were FN. a low life. Meal wise. I won't sware I'll abreviate. Meal served by. What shall I say I have seen more life in a graveyard. ATTITUDE. FN. apporling. Meat was under cooked.. Vegetables if you could find any. Every thing else only just warm. When I go to the toilet that is hotter. Disabled access very good. The floor is flattish. If I could rate this FN. place Minus 100% Go somewhere else I WILL NOT BE GOING TO THIS FN. Lovely food. I had a Mediterranean veg Wellington, which was well cooked and very tasty. Wife had liver and onions, again well cooked and presented, just couldn't eat it all. We've never been disappointed with the food here. Top marks to the chefs. Also great surroundings.

The course is flat as it is located on the side of the River Trent. The first half has few hazards and feels monotonous, but after the middle, there are railroad tracks right next to the course, trains and freight cars are running, and hazards such as creeks and ponds come into play. There was a hall, two locals. He hit our hole and laid up in a narrow area about 100 yards from there.　It's probably the usual way of attacking. There are many holes with strong water in the final stages, making it difficult to hit any shot easily. Unfortunately, the stylish pub in the clubhouse was closed after I holed out!

If you are looking for an alternative children’s party don’t bother! The party goes around the course alongside other customers, who get quite frustrated with excited children trying to play the game. This unfortunately causes some customers to behaviour in a very poor manner towards children. The course isn’t chaperoned by staff at all, so if you need someone you need to go inside leaving the children unsupervised! Access is also open, there are no gates so the children can run straight out on to the busy car park! The den where the children have the lunch was small and very, very hot. The food took quite some time to come out and the children began to get bored and there was nowhere else for them to play while they waited 30mins. I have to say my expectations were dashed and I certainly won’t be returning or recommending. It’s such a shame because it could be great with the correct and appropriate management!

Eaten here a few times in the last year and it's brilliant. Service is always good, food comes out promptly and the portions are excellent. Really good value for money and excellent tasting meals.

I have been using Trent Lock for a number of years. The staff are always very helpful and the facilities very good. Today I was using the attached facilities of American Golf as I had made an appointment to with Matt Coulson to try out some clubs and see if I could get the right fit. The experience was as usual very interesting and helpful, enabling me to make the right choice. The whole process was informative and stress free. We shall be visiting again this week for a round of golf on the 9 hole course and shall be using the excellent clubhouse after. Well worth a visit.

Ejoying breakfast over looking the driving range. Brilliant value for money - £8.95 for a full English, toast, orange juice and coffee. It was absolutely delicious.
