Ordered a takeaway last night. Terrible quality food and one of the items was missing.

Sadly the food let's this place down...and that's the only reason to go out for a curry! Change the chef and it would be a fantastic option to dine out in Ilkeston. A real shame...the service is great...the decor is the best I've seen...but the food was pretty poor by comparison to the other two local curry houses.We only went because Radhuni is closed now on a Tuesday night! If there is a sign in the window that says NEW CHEF...give it a go... otherwise avoid it! We had a mixed house special curry that was so salty it was inedible and just tasted like thick bisto gravy the Peshwari Nan had no flavour at all, no sweetness or sultanas...the rice was average, chips were good and the pickle tray was good...! We also had a lamb Rogan Josh and although the flavour was OK I gave up trying to chew the hard blackened lumps of lamb (not tender and slow cooked!!) we also asked for medium to Madras hot and both dishes were very mild!!🤷🏻‍♂️ Worst curries I've ever been served!

This is my second time in a few days visiting five rivers , and Saturday was the first time we have ever been , and oh my god best decision I ever made! The food is delicious , and incredibly fresh , the staff are fantastic , the main gentleman that has served us both times he is awesome , he can’t do enough for his guests , we normal venture to Nottingham for our Indian meals but not anymore , this is our favourite place now . If you have not been before you must give them a try you will not be disappointed!

We would recommend this place very friendly staff and great food could not fault it. We will definitely be returning.

Great food, delivered within hour, but dishes in containers delivered in an open plastic bag, so rather cold, so we had to reheat. Could your deliverers be given thermal bags so food stays hot.

Take out king Prawn Bhuna and garlic naan This was not a bhuna. It was bright orange and very watery. The king prawns were tasteless, and had no “bite” just mushy (after months in the freezer??) Naan bread had taste but was as flat as a pancake and “solid” not floofy To be fair, the curry did have taste; good job really… After phoning for collection, the server said that the meal would be ready in 15 minutes. I expect this from chippy, Chinese or pizza but fresh Indian “cuisine”??? It was actually ready after ten minutes… The inside (as a restaurant) looked plain, cold and shabby. Staff however were attentive Erm…I certainly will not be returning

Got takeout with delivery which was very good service. Very polite and was dead on time. The food was exceptional and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. We will definitely be having food from here again.

Had bad experience previously but visited again a year or so later. Mains and starters were relatively good and tasty, prices have increased quite a lot recently though, £80 for two people, starters, mains, sides and two drinks each. Service is great and decent enough atmosphere. Probably wouldn't return as the food is not to my personal taste, food is Punjabi inspired based on what I've seen and I prefer Bangladeshi style dishes. Was a pleasant visit and food was good enough.

The restaurant was very cold, also the food was served lukewarm, watery, tasteless and smelled like me nans nickers. Won't be going back that. Nor will me nan

I felt welcomed at this restaurant. The service was good. The food was really nice. I decided that I wanted some rice after I received a meal. The server was really fast with the rice and this really impressed me. I would just say that the interior could use a bit of love, and the naan could look a bit more presentable - perhaps serving it without cutting it? Also as it was just me, I think it was a bit pricey - at £28. See the pictures for what I bought. I have left as 5 stars because the service was very good and the food was lovely.

Could not fault the food or the service. Great menu, perfectly cooked and well presented by attentive staff. The interior just needs a little love/modernisation, I would highly recommend for a "work meal" or a night with friends, but not necessarily for a first date. With a lick of paint and improved toilets, Five Rivers could easily get a 5 star review.

Mostly have take seats from here, but last night called to dine in with some friends. The chap serving was fantastic from the first minute and took time to speak to us. The food was delicious Will definitely be returning

Had a little date Saturday night with the wife, absolutely perfect night, lovely service, food was absolutely amazing, I had the masala, my wife had korma, Beautiful, very friendly atmosphere and lovely authentic music, would definitely recommend, and will 100% be returning.

Amazing food, the staff are friendly. We have been coming here for a few years now and Will keep returning. We find it to be one of the best in the local area

First time ladtnight eating in and what slop worst curry out ever !! Lovely chap so we didn't say anything but we won't be returning.

Absolutely foul. Chicken madras with smelly stale chicken. Was reported to just eat. Smelt awful & completely off. Avoid this place. It’s put me off curries for life!! Place should be shut down selling food like that!!

First time unenrolled ordering food from here, sooo disappointing. Ordered a basic chicken korna, pilau rice and stuffed naan . But got a very watering mess . The korma should be thicker and creamer, but just water. Although from what I could taste, it would have been nice, but the sauce in the korna was that thin, just put everything very wet

Spent 50 quid like usual mossala was like water I ask every time for a thick sauce and still yet again it’s like water,,, rang to tell them they forgot poppadoms and woman put phone down didn’t want to know ,, when collected the food the woman in there has no clue she’s absolutely useless no manners no customer service skills nothing not be using again

Went with friends tonight , memu doesn't match dish description. Was told we need to update our menu, sorry. Food poor quality and cold. Manager argumentative and rude , ended up chucking another £20 on top of a what they wanted for the sake of just wanting to walk away , absolutely appalling service. Will not be returning! Their loss not ours.

Had our first take away tonight, our son been before and said normally ok. It was awful I'm sorry to say, had the lamb tikka main, it stated fillet of lamb, could just about chew it, curry sauce that came with it had no flavour what so ever, our son said same about the balti, lacked in spices, no flavour, chicken saag wala was tasteless, ordered pickle tray and they sent one tub of green watery stuff, biggest waste of £51.50, oh well never again 😒

Had a take away from five rivers.i can honestly say it's the worst Indian meal I have ever tasted.the curry was like water.i may as well have tipped a can of soup on the plate.i definitely would NOT recommend this place.

My wife is Indo-Fijian, she bought a meal on the way home. She says food is tasty and good. When a Chinese person eats in a Chinese restaurant its good food. The same goes for an Indian

Ordered from here on justeat after reading some reviews . I spent a little over £35 for two of us . The Mrs loved her food but mine was bloody awful. Garlic mushrooms where in a thick conjealed sauce . My jalfrezi was so watery the entire plate was swamped. Pilau rice was an unusual colour This has got to be the worst curry I've ever eaten

We ordered; Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Tikka Rogan Josh, Pilau Rice, Cheese Nan, Peshwari Naan and some Poppadoms’s. All of the food was of good quality and decent portion size. My personal improvements on the food eaten; is less onions in the Lamb Rogan Josh and Cheese in the Cheese Nan as this seemed to be lacking. Other than these improvements, I was happy overall.

The Garlic Chilli Chicken didn't have any taste and wasn't a chilli to be seen just watery sauce with onions and chicken, The Chicken Tikka Masala was watery with no taste either, the sauce should have been much thicker not runny like a coloured water, The Bombay Potatoes seemed to be in a Korma like sauce. Was not happy at all with the meal and having a guest over it was embarrassing to give them food which wasn't enjoyed and them leaving hungry. Too late to order something else due to having to wait again and we shouldn't have to. Shame the food wasn't tasted to make sure it was as it should of been. Very disappointed and still very hungry!!!!

Didnt have what I ordered and honestly can say I've had better microwave curries it was disgusting,the onion bhaji was soggy and tasted of nothing but salt and all the chips was black and under cooked.ONE of the worse takeaways I've ever had

Been going to Five Rivers and buying takeaway from there for years. There are other Indian restaurants in Ilkeston, some of which can be very good. But we’ve found none of such consistent high quality as Five Rivers.

Been to this restaurant a few times. Beautiful. Since lockdown been ordering online, 6 weeks running, never been disappointed. Food is to die for. Succulent and tasty. Bit more expensive than some, but you get what you pay for. Will never use anyone else. Would give 10 stars if I could.

First takeaway from 5 rivers absolutely amazing we had chicken tikka jalfezi vindaloo and bhuna first takeaway since Shah closed was not sure but well worth it thank you guys

Very nice meal delivered under social isolating guidelines. Needed a treat and thumbs up to delivery man. Bit of a wait, but enjoyed when it came 👍

The place lie made me wait 3 hours for food then it was cold when arrived got money back but manger owner did not know the correct temperature to serve food at so do the chefs phone tonight said collection only said he had customer so walked up no customer's so reporting en iromemal health

The Chicken Madras is excellent, they give you loads of meat and the portion sizes are pretty on the large side. The takeaway meal deals are well priced. I'd definitely recommend and is the best curry house in Ilkeston by a country mile.

Had a delicious take away . Very reasonable and delivered in the hour for free.

We came here whilst looking for good vegetarian Indian food and were attracted by he menu having dedicated veggie dishes. The staff were very helpful and knowledgable about the food but it was let down by fairly bland and quite greasy meals. Maybe I just got them on a bad night!

If you order a takeaway you will probbly die of old age first waiting for it to arrive....

Ordered a Indian at 6.50 didn't turn up until 9.00... food was cold and I've never tasted anything so vile in my life... we've ordered from these a while back and wasn't great but thought we would try them again... I had chicken dhansak it was like a dollop of sick.. the food was cold...over £20 for our order... never again... very very disappointed!!

Ordered meal for the first time at 8.30 told an hour to hour and half at 10.10 rang to check our order, someone picked up the phone I explained I was ringing about my order and checking how much longer, they didn’t even speak other than ‘hello’ then just passed the phone to someone else, who then said sorry been busy said “they walking out to delivery it now” ! Told 15 mins more max ! 10.30 it arrived barely warm. Two of the meals were identical except one had meat in it but should of been two completely different type of meals! Food average but not as described on menus. Will not order again. Just checked reviews (should of done this before) but seems if you go to the restaurant to eat in you definitely have a better experience but if you order takeaway the reviews are not good. Problem is the people who order may be trying it to see if they want to go for a meal with friends from this amount of customer of care it’s a no from my experience. You need to treat your take away orders with more care and respect and give them the same customer service.

I was told the delivery would arrive at 7:30 when I ordered at 5:35. rang up to see if it was coming at 8:15 got through at 8:30 and was assured it would arrive in less than 15 min. never arrived

1st visit. Staff are excellent, great menu choice and great tasting food. Decor average hence not a 5 star but worth a visit 😎

Just driving around looking for some food as I am not from around here so driving up from Coventry blind eyed was hungry and drove past this place. Very friendly owner serving finger liking food with full admission I have not tasted Indian food like this in the whole of Coventry. ....... will defo drive back from cov just for the food here regular. Big message for all Indians five rivers is better than home cooked food ..... sunny

I live a 4 minute drive from this place, literally, give it some beans and it's 2-3mins. Food arrived Cold, stone cold! This was nothing more than an expensive and unsatisfactory microwave meals. 3 bits of chicken were hard as nails and tough, 2 others bits were a mixture of. If you're in the market for expensive, cold as crap food, look no further.

Excellent food at reasonable prices

Discusting customer service placed an order given an hour delivery time after this hour no food, half an hour later still nothing! Rang up to be fobbed off with crap excuses and no offer to compensate for poor service so I cancelled my order and will not place another!!
