Rang the order through and arranged a collection time. Everything was cooked fresh and hot and on-time. Thank you so much.

We have visited this place on a regular basis and last couple of times,it's been hit and miss. Last Saturday food was below par again and there was a definite ( tang)-strange taste and smell to the food. Don't know whether it's the oil they use,or it's not been cleaned properly. Suffice to say the standard since it was Trecenydd Fish Bar has definitely deteriorated. Sad really as it was a great fish shop in its day.

Disgusting cold warmed up chips. Fish but not cod overcooked at £9.00.was only fit for the bin. Avoid like the plague never ever again

Never had a problem the whole year I’ve been going back and forth buying food from here but today the food was absolutely disgusting the fish fillet wasn’t even cooked,had 3 strands of hair in it and a bone I almost choked on absolutely disgusting 🤮

We decided to go for a drive to Eglwysilan (located on the mountain road between Pontypridd Common and Abertridwr in Caerphilly). Along the way there are amazing views of the Welsh Valleys and the Bristol Channel. We were looking forward to having a drink at the Rose and Crown Pub, but disappointed to find they were closed. We returned home via the Caerphilly route and decided to pick up a takeaway. At the Trecenydd fish bar there was an array of traditional chip shop favourites on the menu. We ordered a fish and chips and a sausage in batter with chips. The food was cooked fresh to order and the person who served us was extremely welcoming. The portion sizes were very generous, the fish was succulent with a crispy batter and the food was very tasty and great value for money.

Heard good things about this place however it was disappointing. The chips were so good however the fish let it down- too much batter and the fish was thin and chewy even though I ordered a fillet. Portion size is good however was a little pricey compared to others around. Reading the other reviews it sounds very hot and miss so hope it was just and off day.

Fantastic chip shop and has been for decades! Everything cooked fresh by the friendliest people. Definitely worth traveling for

hearing so much about this chippie .....got to give it a try..........plenty of chips but made of plastic......hard and chewie as reheated you dont expect it these days. straight in the bin. never never again

I would call this my local fish shop. It is by far the best in the area! Fish is cooked fresh to order. The fish bites are my boys favourites. Would highly recommend a visit you wont be disappointed!! So glad theyve reopened 👌

Best fish and chips ever in Caerphilly. The fish was enormous, chunky, flaked apart and the batter lovely and crisp. Zero complaints. The only downside is the massive queue of customers but that's only testament to how amazing their food is. We'll 100% be back. Next on my hit list to try is the mushy pea fritter. Cant wait!

We've been coming here for many years and have always enjoye d our meal as we have tonight. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Many thanks

I grew up in the area and whenever I come back get chips from here. They were always amazing, but today's effort was some of the worst chips I have ever had. I had recommended to a few work friends we go to this chip shop as it is one of the best in south wales, but we all said that it was probably the worst everybody had ever had. The chips were under cooked and the jumbo sausage in batter was burnt, and all the food had a smell to it, like the oil hadn't been changed in a while. Hopefully they can get back to how it used to be, but will avoid until I hear it has turned it around.

We needed something quick and easy, so called in to the fish bar. Food delicious as always and the foot long jumbo sausages are ace!

Trecenydd fish and chip shop is by far the best in Caerphilly! The food is fresh and always delicious and they even do gluten free once a week! Brilliant!

A family rember recommended this chippy so we decided to give it a go. It was very quiet at around 5pm on a Wednesday. The young girl serving was reasonably friendly however I was disappointed with the chips. They seemed like they had been sitting there a long time. The sausages were nice, the jumbo sausage was huge so ideal for those with big appetites. However felt rather disappointed. After speaking to others it seems the food can be good but is maybe not the most consistent.

Had gravy and chips X2 from here my god it was terribe. Chips must have been yesterday's and where's the gravy? See photo . Won't be back .as you can see dark horrible chips and bottom of tray empty with hardly any gravy. Tasted awful went in bin

We decided, that to save cooking on return from holiday, we would have some fish and chips for a change. We always have them from this establishment, and to be fair they are always very good. However on this occasion, we were very disappointed, the fish had been deep fried for too long it as overcooked and the fish was very dry, considering the price of fish today, it was a disappointing meal.

Went in around 5:30 pm to order fish and chips. Waited at counter in front of cash register to place order. Both ladies behind the counter ignored me and continued to serve other customers. One finally asked me if I had called in an order. I said no, do I have to call it in. She said no. Continued to ignore me. Other people to my left seemed to be placing orders. Maybe I was in the wrong line, had on the wrong color shirt, and had an American accent instead of Welsh but there was no reason to ignore me. Will never bother with this place again that seems to employ rude and poor customer service people.

Don't have fish and chips much but always go to Trecy and is always fresh fish and chips always spot on

Dont ofter go for a takeaway, so not a great deal to compare with. Good bit of trade in the shop so that a good sign. The staff friendly and corteous.

What a very clean, good looking chippy, the staff were polite and although there was a bit of a wait for fish this was completely forgotten when eating the food. The chips are absolutely stunning highly recommended

portions are very big, the food is good, the fish I love here and the staff are lovely- it is a very busy place but you don't have to wait long to be served

A very nice fish and chips meal presented very well in a closed box. Complete with slice of lemon. Very nice chips. Very popular so you have to queue for a while at peak times, but it's usually worth the wait.

During my recent visit I was disappointed, with the service, the price & the food.On this visit there was one member of staff serving and one member of staff cooking. I guess the service could have been slower, but the server was painfully slow and making no effort whatsoever to try and get the customers served. While we waited to be served (Seriously considering going elsewhere) customers were getting fed up with the wait and leaving. This was a quiet evening, the staff even said that it had been very quiet and it was about 9pm so no pub rush etc.The chips are lovely and a reasonable portion, however the fish is getting smaller & smaller and the prices are getting higher and higher.The screens above the counter that normally show the prices were all turned off, so they are not advertising any prices. Pity about this place but I do not intent using it again.

Although this place can be a little inconsistent with portion sizes. The food is generally fresh and well cooked.

Stopped off for fish and chips, just spent 3 days in Bournemouth so expectation was high, certainly not disappointed, fish and chips were fresh and as good as fish and chips can get, big flaky fish, nice crispy batter and browned off nicely big chunky chips, fish and chips can't get any better

Sadly this chip shop has been hit and miss of late. Chips tasted stale tonight and certainly not freshly cooked. Shame as it's a nightmare to park so doubt whether I'll make the effort again soon.

The last couple of times we used this place, the food was OK but only OK. This time we had fish chips and curry sauce and it was delicious. Keep up the good work.

This is our usual chippy. Unlike most chippies in the south of the UK (Below the Scottish Border) the take the skin off the fish. This isn't the norm here but it is the best way IMHO.It doesn't have the variety of products on off Scottish chippies do but it has very good quality and that's what really matters.Fish & chips is still the best take away going. Parking may be an issue but it's worth it..There are no seats or tables here. You go in, order and get out..proper chippy.

Been using the Fish Bar for ages as grew up in the area and always good chips and fish nice and fresh.

We just love this fish shop we have a meal from there every Thursday evening and also call in if cannot be botherd to cook The portion's are quite hit and miss but saying that they are standard size. Fabian and staff have a very high standard of hygiene and it shows. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS FISH and CHIP SHOP TO EVERY ONE .So keep up the good work ALL

Best fish and chippy in miles. Always good food and freshly cooked bit of a wait in busy times as it can get very busy but don't mind waiting when it's good food.

2nd time I've bought cod and chips from trecenydd fish bar. First one wasn't good fish not freshly cooked but tasted like it had been cooked a lot earlier. Thought this was one off had same again. Definitely not freshly cooked batter over cooked and cod undercooked had to throw it away. Looked like it had been there for ages. Chips didn't t taste the best reheated not fresh. Won t be going back very disappointed what a waste of money.

When visiting Caerphilly me and my family usually have to go for takeaways and restaurant meals so we decide to go to trecenydd fish bar as my father said that when he was a kid , it was the best in Caerphilly. First impression were great , a beautiful exterior , nice interior and friendly service.we went for four cod and two portions of chips, we were offered lemon juice which was a welcome surprise as we had never even thought of that . we decided to play it safe and just stick to vinegar and salt . The chips themselves were well cooked with None burnt or undercooked and the batter on the fish was nicely crisped however the fish was lacking in flavour and we were regretting not asking for lemon so I would recommend more lemon juice or lemon to accompany it.overall it's a nice fish shop and is better than others we have tried in the area which can be quite soggy and I would recommend it over the other local chip shops.

Thanks to fabian running gluten free night on a monday, i can now have proper fish and chips every monday without feeling guilty about my 7 yr old coeliac daughter not being able to have anything, its not just gluten free fish and chips, he also does sausage, potato fritters, chicken and even gluten free curry sauce..

I have recently moved near this shop and I'm so glad I bought some good quality food from there.Everything was cooked perfectly and we were given a very generous portion of chips too.I highly recommend this little chippy to everyone.

Best chippy in britain let alone wales we always use it love the family that run it and their staff nothing to much trouble very clean and the food is wonderful wouldnt use any other chippy

We use this chippy all the time.Fish is freshly cooked every time and is sold in boxes so no grease stains and easy to eat out of if you are just passing through.Chips are as they should be (crisp on the outside) and no oil pouring out of the fish when you cut into it. Loads of different food on offer,very clean environment and friendly service from all the staff. Highly recommend this chippy. Give them a try you will not disappointed.

We had a great customer service experience from Fabian and the team. We wanted to cater for a group of 70 people and we had some fairly specific requirements. Fabian and his team were so accommodating and worked hard to pull off the catering. To top it off the food was great and we got lots of positive feedback from our group.Can thoroughly recommend this shop from a food quality and customer service perspective.

Nice and clean chippy - good quality chips, but fairly small portions. It seems to close quite early, so not so good if you want some chips after the pub...

The most amazing fish, chips and mushy peas I have had for many years. Huge portion, clean premises and efficient staff, if I lived in the area I would be there a couple of nights a week.

I really do not rate this chip shop, I always find the chips are dry and hard and the batter is tasteless. Personally I think it's the worst chip shop in Caerphilly and don't understand what people love about it !

Trecenydd still has the best fish and chips around. You can tell this by its busy local trade. It serves well cooked traditional fare. Nothing nicer on a cold evening.

Just moved back to area after 40 years. Found this fish and chip shop just round the corner. Some of the best fish and chips I have had. They even said if I phoned in an order it would be waiting when I got there. Very handy on a busy night. Definitively my chip shop from now on. The two little ladies behind the counter very friendly and helpful. I'll be back.

The only problem with this chippie is.1.food too delicious 2. Portions large. 3 satisfied customers.

I visit this takeaway regularly and have NEVER had a bad meal. Best chippy in South Wales never mind Caerphilly. Always queuing out the door is surely a sign of a good business!!

I do normally enjoy food from here and their chips are nice . But. Went here on Thursday evening bought food and wasn't pleased at all my wife had Chinese curry and chips in tray well it was more like chips with tar on it . I had chips and gravy which was like chips covered in water . It was so bad . Also think staff have gone downhill too scruffy looking people at front of house with no hair nets just dirty overalls is not a good impression n I know this place is always busy but could do better and standards have dropped.

Every Monday this fish & chip shop will cook gluten free meals on demand. I go there every Monday evening for the best gluten free fish & chips ever. Every gluten meal is freshly cooked to order. The fish is large with thin crispy batter and the chips are steaming hot, so I look forward to this meal.

Produces the best fish and chips in wales. Interior is immaculate. Spotlessly clean. Has been run by same family for many years. Would thoroughly recommend.

For many years this has been the best fish and chip shop in the area. Quality fish and chips cooked fresh and always delivered with a smile.

The food is consistently good and I would highly recommend the fish.The chips are not greasy and good quality potatoes are used so there are no unsightly and inedible bad chips. A basic chippy menu but still something for all the family.

Staying at the nearby Travelodge it took us around 20 min to walk to the chipy but it was worth it. We all enjoyed our take away, there was plenty in each meal for us.

Been going here since I was a kid. It's not quite as good as it was pre-makeover and is getting a little pricey but I still can't contemplate going anywhere. If I do get fish and chips elsewhere, on a day out somewhere, or on holiday, I always end up comparing them and Trecenydd usually comes out on top, apart from Rick Stein's in Padstow.

Been here a couple of times, but, I don't get why there is all the fuss for this place. The staff look miserable as sin, they make a fortune, a smile wouldn't hurt. The foods ok but nothing special, its just your basic chippy ?!?

This is a very clean & friendly fish & chip shop. I have never had a bad meal from this place. I have had Fish & chips or pastie & chips from here for over 30 years & the quality has always remained top notch.

Tried chips with spicy curry the other day, very nice, lovely curry sauce and yes the chips were nice (not greasy at all) but a little bit too thick and chunky for my liking. Still enjoyed though and would probably go again.

Lovely chips, good portion sizes, gluten free options available too. Sometimes the staff could do with smiling a bit more but when it's as busy as they are you can understand why they don't.

Amazing Fish and Chips, been coming here for years now, nothing else to say but if you haven't been here, please do so its fab, its lovely and clean, staff are so friendly and polite and service is great.

People travel miles to get their chips here as they are heralded as the best chips in the valleys. ( I will leave you to make your own decision on that but they are good, very good) They offer a reasonable selection of food, with two curry sauces, (I love the curry) they have recently had a refurb and a rename to the fish factory. To be totally honest, it is not the best place for fish.. Pies yes, pasties, savaloys, rissoles and sausages (Try the Jumbo sausage)... Yes but fish, you can do better.. The fish tends to be small, wet & greasy and not very good value for money, but if fish is not your thing, give it a go you will not be disappointed.,,

I do not normally like chips but the ones served here are superb. They are not greasy or slimy or lots of little ones. There is a good selection, it is always very clean and staff are welcoming and efficient. Family run and it shows.

Parking can be a bit precarious at times as its on a busy road, but well worth it for the Fish and Chips

Best chips in Caerphilly but the fish is a bit hit or miss. Sometimes the fish is sweet and the batter crisp, other times it's tasteless and the batter a soggy mess.

This been my favourite for many years. Recently re-furbished though as clean as it always has been. Polite and pleasant staff very helpful. Very large menu to have what takes your fancy. Excellent!!!!

You always get a good piece of Fish cooked fresh with good quality batter. Friendly service and usually you can park on the road outside. Don't go there Sundays they are closed. Father started the business years ago now run by the son who has kept the good quality cooking

I never go to any other chip shop, since the new revamp the portions are slightly smaller but I think they have the best tasting chippy for miles.

this was always a fab fish bar and the renovations just added to the experience, however the last 3 visits have proived disappointing. There seems to have been a change in those cooking no longer see father or son anymore. The menu also says that the fish is coooked to order not on my last 3 visits....a real shame would always have been my chipshop of choice not anymore.

Went there end of nov 14 family had fish & chips .chips not really cooked to perfection me and the wife had what we thought was going to be fish but turned out more like batter and chips twice this is the second time we have been disappointed with this fish shop ..should av asked for cod fries.unless that's what they were

The shop is immaculate, food always great and chatting to staff.If you like your chips cooked to perfection you would do worse by going else where. Highly recommended.
