I was served by the lovely gail! Very polite and helpful I had a burger and ill be honest it was overcooked on the outside and my partner hadega hunters chicken and double up of chips £1 extra he said was lovely! Gail saw my drink was empty so she asked if i wanted a refil so kind i wanted to tip her but that service was not an option :/I left my more than half of my burger but i will be back to try something else

Table for twoSunday afternoon, I made no reservation but after a day of light shopping called up from the car park. The Gentleman at the front of house was courteous and welcoming, we were found a table and seated promptly. Our server we we came to know as Mr PAC Man ( for his jumper ) was very attentive. We remarked at one point through our meal that the staff really earn their wage, forever finding something to do, in fact to my utter horror Iv realised I had forgotten to tip, guess I’ll have to come back ... not that anyone needs to twist my arm. The food was Wonderful! I couldn’t find not one thing I didn’t like, whats more impressive is that my friend was pleasantly surprised and that’s not a easy thing to do, Iv seen this man send steak back in a steak house for being over done or bland, the fact that he was happy spoke volumes. And finally, there was a party in the section of the pub we were seated. I’d say roughly 13 people, sat across the width of the restaurant so even though they had to maintain some distance they were able to talk and be involved, to keep 13 people happy even when you cannot serve them alcohol, to keep 13 people together when you have to Adhere to social distancing rules is no easy task. That was going the extra mile. Worth a visit!

Came for food yesterday with my partner and 2 young children, place was very clean and held up to Covid precautions, we felt very safe, the young waitress that served us was very polite and just a joy to have, she deserves a praise, food was absolutely Devine and delicious, highly recommend this place, will definitely be back again, thank you for the amazing service in hard times

The service was good and the restaurant was clean and tidy. The food was a little bit slow coming out and was nice enough food but not brilliant. The beer was really good.

I would not recommend this place the food is over rated bland just like the rest of the pubs chain give the place a miss

Always visiting Marston's pubs, more locally the bumble bee so thought we would give the red kite a change. Much better than the bumble bee, food was much nicer and staff couldn't do enough for you! I think I'll be swapping my local.

We have come to the red kite regularly. But haven’t eaten out since covid. So this was our first place since March. The staff are amazing and take covid 19 very seriously they provide sanitizer and all staff wear masks. The food was great value as usual and staff are extremely friendly. Couldn’t recommend more.

Credit where its due !! Food was amazing plenty of it and boiling hot. Excellent fast and efficient customer service Hand sanitiser on hand and all staff wearing a mask 👍

First restaurant I’ve seen with everyone wearing mask,definitely on point,popped in for the lamb roast dinner and the food was perfect,service was excellent,we had a young lady Kerry very helpful,happy and looked after us,would definitely recommend,thank you

Never had a bad meal @ Red kite Caerphilly, the bar man Phil made our visit even better, he is very professional. Also very helpful with assisting us with warming up our baby food, He deserves recognition. Will visit again soon!

Had a fast service and polite staff. Food was great and would definitely go back. We had to phone to book because of the current situation with covid.

We had pre-booked as restaurants are very busy with the Government deal at the moment. We booked for 4.00pm. Good safety measures in place with hand sanitiser, social distancing, disposable menus. Good attentive service, even though they were busy. My Husband had chicken strips to start with a dip. I had Prawn Cocktail, both very good and substantial. We had a steak, which my Husband thought had maybe been sitting a while as it wasn't that hot, with chips peas and grilled tomato, which he enjoyed. I had Scampi, peas and chips, very plentiful, so much so I couldn't eat it all, but the meal was fine, and excellent value.

I attended the Red Kite for lunch today with my parents who have been shielding due to Covid-19. The staff were more than accomodating for us, opening up extra tables outside away from the smoking area and offering to move us to a quiet table inside when it began to rain. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Staff were excellent at following social distancing, helping my parents feel relaxed in one of their first trips out since lockdown. We will definitely return. Thanks all!

Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Red Kite. Always made to feel special. Delicious food and service second to none. Have visited a few restaurants in the area since lockdown restrictions lifted and actually felt like we were experiencing a normal .. in safe / social distancing/ environment/ evening. Bar staff .. amazing. Management.. Well Done Thank you .. looking forward to our next visit . X

Always enjoyed good food and service, but visits on 13th August the prawn cocktail was tasteless, the steak overdone and far too much Stilton on top.enjoyed the evening though, even at £3.80 a pint for pedigree. Will go again because have always liked it there

Called in for lunch, lovely staff who were very busy and very hot, (air con not allowed due to Covid) food was quickly made and delicious, felt very sorry for the hard working staff working their butts off on the hottest day of the year to provide great food and great service! Thank you x

This is a lovely friendly pub with excellent service. The food is always tasty and there is a wide range on the menu. The deals make this lovely pub an ideal stop any night of the week.

Two for one deal, food fine for what u pay, staff very good, place itself quiet large lots of space, the only issue I have please clean your menus, it sets a standard, if u cant clean your menus what is the rest of the place like, especially at this time with the virus etc. what’s on your menus ?

As a family the Red Kite has always been our go to place when eating out and most of the time we have really enjoyed the meals and the atmosphere with friendly staff. Today however has been a very different experience, and not one I will want to repeat anytime soon! First of all I ordered a Sunday roast with no veg other than potatoes, my meal arrived with roasted parsnips on it! Correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve spent 60+ years believing parsnips were a vegetable, then my meat, plenty of beef but the problem was the thickness it was cut I’ve never ever been served beef doorstops before!The final thing that threw me over the edge was my husband asked the waitress to remove our plates, but we were told it wasn’t their policy to remove them until everyone had finished, I understand that completely, but I thought if we requested them to take our plates away then that should be done.The waitress didn’t even have the decency to ask what was wrong with our meals, but instead went to a male colleague and it was pretty obvious they were having a conversation about us!I approached the waitress on my way out and told her she hadn’t even asked if our meals were ok and that I was very disappointed I couldn’t eat my meal.Definitely will not be returning, now I’m going home to cook my husband and myself something to eat, Red Kite Caerphilly has let us down!

Called in this evening! We were shown to our seats to the right of the restaurant as we walked in and waited for drinks, and waited and waited until we had to go to the bar and place our drinks order. We both had rib eye steaks which were both way over cooked. Asked for medium rare but had well done and very tough of poor quality for the price tag of £18.95 each!!!! We never complain when we dine out because it looks as though we are looking for a discount which we are not. We’re we asked if everything was ok with our meals? No.... so just got on with it. Our drink glasses were empty and yet again we waited and waited for one of the waitresses to take an order. We again went to the bar to place another order. Unacceptable by now We both had the lemon Sicilian cheesecakes which were to die for...Delicious!!! We always tip serving staff for good service but could not on this occasion due to the lack of service and unfriendly customer service. The two girls that served the tables where we sat had long, dark hair. Bring back Gail.... She’s the best along with Tony the manager. We will return in the hope that we find the service and excellent customer service exceptional as always

My husband and I had an excellent value meal on Tuesday of 2 burgers for £10. I had the burger topped with a grilled mushroom and stilton cheese melt and my husband had the 'cowboy' burger topped with bacon and cheese. The burgers were thick and meaty and delicious and we will definitely be visiting and ordering them again.

We go to this pub for lunch on a fairly regular basis. However, on this occasion was very disappointed. Had the Buffalo Cauliflower wing Tacos. I had 7 pieces of cauliflower. No problem with the flavour, but the amount of cauliflower wings was pathetic. Had a jam roly poly with custard for afters. It was hard, no doubt overdone in the microwave. There was a huge piece of roly poly but there was a tiny jug of custard. I left most of it. I also commented on the quantity of cauliflower which was studiously ignored. Not very happy with the quality of the pudding or the quantity of the main.

It was not what i expected old fashioned I was not very impressed. I will not be taking my friends back again.

I supported a young lady with complex learning difficulties to have lunch out here today. It couldn't have gone better.The table service was spot on - the staff spoke both to myself and the lady I was supporting. (You'd be surprised how many people completely ignore her!) The service was fast and attentive. Extremely polite and friendly staff. The food was delicious and really good value for money. We had ham, egg and chips and a veggie lasagne. Both really tasty, decent quality food and we'll presented. One really can't complain on cost - 241 on all main meals (including specials!) Monday - Friday. What isn't to like?! The drinks and some meals are ever so slightly overpriced to compensate for this but paying £14 for two delicious fresh main meals and two drinks with impeccable table service in a gorgeous clean and spacious restaurant is not something to be sniffed at! I will definitely be returning!

Visited twice this month and both times really enjoyed. Lovely food and desserts are awesome. My grandson had the chocolate sundae which he loved(twice). 2 4 1 deal is really good value. Will be going back in March for anniversary meal.👍🥂

Been many times and I will keep coming back. Food ok. It's a 2 4 1 pub with large free car park Theres a family area and a part if you dont gave children with you.

Visited the Red Kite a few times now, always a great welcome from Tony and his staff, offering two for one on all meals, including the specials board, as long as there is two this is the place to dine, good food presented well.

We came here as we were visiting family in the area. We ordered and to be fair the service wasn't too bad. However those of us who had coleslaw on out plate must have had it from being sat on the side for a good few days..........it was going brown and wasn't inviting to eat. The atmosphere felt very clicky and you felt a little out of place if not a local. Not sure I'd go back I'm afraid.

We went here for an evening meal and it was nothing special. There is no atmosphere food tasted as if it went ding (micro waved) It's over priced didn't feel welcomed not going to rush back

We had the 3 course christmas menue and I would have to say it was very very good. I am the first to kick Marstons when they get it wrong so when they get it this right they deserve praise. Add to this the usual excellent service in the red kite and I would have to say we were all as a group of 4 very very happy we had chosen the kite for a christmas meal with friends , well done of every level.

We go here quite regularly as a couple, as a family and with friends. Age ranges from 4 to 92 and there’s always something on the menu that everyone likes. Sunday lunches tend to sell out early so prepare to be disappointed if you don’t get there early! We have never had a bad meal there. It’s good quality pub food and buy one get one free so the price is always reasonable too.

First and last visit here. Went in for something to eat and became very disappointed. The meal was OK though the size of the portion was small for the money paid. The manager was called and a 40% discount was applied to the bill.

We use this restaurant about four times a year for family get togethers. Service is good, staff very friendly and food is really good value for money. Only problem is that as a child friendly restaurant a lot of food does end up on the floor and is not always cleaned up quickly enough, however still a good venue and there is a children's play area as well to keep little ones occupied. In the better weather it is possible to sit outside. They have changed their system now so you can book tables and would recommend doing this as it does get very busy.

I'm currently in a wheelchair having my left leg amputated Excellent access into the Red Kite and a disabled toilet if required Staff were very attentive and treated me like any other customer which was fantastic No fuss made which is exactly how I and any other disabled person want to be treated

Called in here with my wife on Friday evening while waiting to pick up our daughter from a nearby event.

Our large party was accommodated straight away, & staff were very friendly & obliging. There was a slight mess under the table of food left by the previous party, however this was swept up when we asked. Out of the 9 adult main meals that we ordered, 3 were rather disappointing with food being either dry or stale - however the rest of the meals were ok. It is nice that children are welcomed and accommodated for.

We were ten ladies who attend a group in Caerphilly. You aren't able to book in advance, so when we arrived we were told there would be a wait. That wasn't a problem, and we didn't have to wait very long for a table to accommodate us all. We had various meals from steak, salmon, lasagne, chicken. My particular meal was from the specials board. I had Chicken breast with a Port and Stilton sauce, with chips and a side salad. It was absolutely delicious. All my friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We were very impressed with the meals, the pleasant waitresses, and the excellent value of the meals. Well done to the chef and all concerned, a really nice evening was had by all, and all meals excellent. Thank you.

Been here on 2 consecutive sundays had 2 lovely meals only think I can complain about it was cold in there I put my jacket back on but was still cold in fact didn't bother with a desert because I was so cold.

Visit frequently with friends. Tend to have the rump steak or the scampi - never had a bad meal and the staff are always very courteous and polite. Would recommend.

Staying next door overnight, we opted to eat at the Red Kite Caerphilly.

Called in for early dinner, quiet considering it’s half term! Quick efficient friendly service, meal arrived within 10minutes- we had the Jalfrezi curry with naan & poppadoms ( hot enough to be a curry but not too much!) and also the Button mushroom bourguignon pie with chips, peas and gravy (which thankfully came separately) which was divine and Vegan too!

We always visit the red kite when we are in Caerphilly it always serves a good meal no matter what day you chose the staff are always very helpful and chearful

Visited the red kite today had a bit of lunch with some friends. We have visited this pub on several previous occasions and had lovely meals, however today was not one of those days. Unfortunately none of us was very happy with the food. We was asked by a waitress was all was okay with our meals when we initially Been served- maybe they need to ask near the end of the meal. As we Continued with our meals it wasn’t very pleasant half was cold garlic bread was cold dry overcooked. Steak and ale pie pastry was tough to much like hard work to eat so overall a little bit disappointed today I mentioned it to the waitress she appeared a little bit out of sorts because we hadn’t mentioned it earlier Which she could’ve rectified the problem. To be honest we wouldn’t have wanted another meal, we did get 30% discount which we did not ask for and did not expect So we are grateful for the Gesture. Hopefully one day will go back!

Went today for tea after a long day at work. Welcome good and drinks order talen promptly. Shared a starter which was tasty and presented well. Mains were disappointing. Husband had plaice which was dry, overcooked and tasteless. I had chicken and chorizo burger, chorizo was actually a spiced hotdog sausage and tasted disgusting, bearing in mind chorizo is one of my fav foods normally. Both meals had a tiny child size portion of chips. On a positive note, waitress was friendly and efficient.

I want to commend this restaurant to anyone thinking of visiting! Food was excellent, plentiful and served VERY quickly! Staff were all courteous and professional and the manager was wonderful! I stayed in the adjoining hotel and will be glad to patronise this restaurant if I ever stay here again.

2 people had beef sunday lunch which was very poor, gravy was like water, no taste to the vegetables, yorkshire pudding it was too hard to cut had to pivk it up to eat..which didnt look good. Not happy at all. No wonder it is 2for1. 1 had a steak cheese baguette. The salad was all limp not edible looked awful. Up graded for a £1 to have chips i think i counted 8. I ask for steak well done but not cremated..yep cremated burnt was not edible there were red onions amongst steak & cheese no taste at all on them & cheese was slimy. Would not go back even if it was 4for2. Very disappointed. Came out waste of money time(2hrs) and hungry. Red Kite need to get their act together. Would not recomend it to noone.

As ever an excellent service & good choice of meals available. I Had a very lovely Moussaka from the special board today. Highly recommended.

Went there as a family to celebrate my sons 21st birthday my mother ended up breaking her tooth on a rock hard slice of garlic and I asked for a medium rare steak which ended up blue, leaving me with a stomach upset all weekend. My meal was sent back and replaced with a well done piece of steak and £15 was taken off the final total due to my mother's tooth. This doesnt help with the outcome of a stomach upset all weekend or the amount of money it is going to cost my mother in dental fees. We will never go back there again, didnt even have the decency to ask if we wanted desserts either.

We'd booked ahead of a visit to the Red Kite for a Saturday Evening meal whilst visiting family. We arrived at the time of booking but the table wasn't quite ready - it was clear it was very busy and the staff were apologetic and advised us to have a drink before they eventually took us to our table.

Lovely place to eat if just wanting something simple.. good beers good stall good service . Nice and tasty pies and steaks

Service was good even though the restaurant was very busy. The only down side was that the pastry on the steak pie was a little too hard.

Pleasant atmosphere, and happy staff. I will be going there again, to try something different. All the meals are good value.

A group of us went here for a meal for a few friends and it was amazing the food was beautiful service fantastic and have to say the barman a very nice young man called phill was amazing couldn't be more helpful all the staff was a credit to the redkite

My Husband and I went for a meal at about 3.45. It was quite quiet at that time of the day. We had a Rib Eye steak and chips, and a Burger with a flat mushroom and stilton cheese and chips, with coleslaw. My Husband enjoyed his steak, said it was juicy. My burger was fine, both meals were ok, but average.

Came here for a Sunday lunch and wished we hadnt.

Normally our favourite restaurant/pub, but just had a beef sunday lunch. We had to ask for our main course order to be taken, then for desserts and lastly had to ask for our bill. Service was nowhere near as good as usual. The beef was dried up and tough,inedible. Very disappointed. Advertised with red cabbage, but didnt get any, got parsnips instead yuch! Wont be choosing the sunday roast again. Waitress didnt come to the table to ask if our meals were ok had to return the beef via a young lady clearing the dishes. A £3 reduction on the bill, not impressed. Hope my next visit will be better.

I always call in here when in a visit to to the area approximately every three months. We stay in the Travelodge next door. I go to the pub about 12.30and my wife and son join me later. Its a great venue. Clean smart and welcoming. Staff are polite friendly and helpful. Toilets are spotless.

Came here on a tuesday evening and there were around 10 of us. The staff sat us down quickly and served us promptly. Our waiter was really professional and managed to bring everyones drinks over at the same time. The food came very quickly, majority of us had burgers as there was a deal on the day. We were all impressed on the taste and presentation of the dishes and how hot they were.

First visit here and not impressed. Service was slow, beer was awful. When food finally arrived it was not the best, badly presented and almost thrown to one of the party on the table. The salad served to another in the party was really small and poor quality/quantity. Will definitely not return or recommend.

Came here for a quick meal, the food wasn’t great to say the least, however after nearly finishing our food I found a dead moth/fly buried in the side salad which I had been eating! The manager wiped the bill and apologised however I left there feeling physically sick and not sure what I have eaten by mistake! Feel so ill has put me off going out for food for life, my is still churning!

We walked in just as a quick meal before we go home. As soon as we walked in the manger was standing there and he was rude. We where standing at the bar and the staff seem to do what they want. I was looking around the place and I seen the manger speck to a member of staff the way he shouldn’t don’t ask me how he is still working there I don’t know. That place need a strong manger in that knows what they are doing. It seem to be a free for all for the staff

Really lovely Marston's pub restaurant. Typical menu, with the usual Marston's twist of something different. It's a two mains fire the price of one, and therefore good value too. The curry was excellent. The only down side, the pub is next to the relatively new travel lodge, but is not keen in the mornings for breakfast.... Never mind!

Enjoyed a Delicious birthday meal with family,the steak was cooked to perfection,the staff were friendly,good value for money.

We had 3 of our grandkids today for a few hours and decided to take them here as they've been before and like the food on the children's menu and that there is a small play area to amuse them whilst they wait for their food order to be delivered.

We all enjoyed a very tasty meal. Service was great Brilliant atmosphere Bar staff were great We would all recommend and can’t wait to go back

Had Sunday lunch it was nice but disappointed with the roast potatoes they were pale and didn't even look as if they had seen an oven. Also my granddaughters potatoes were black. I know Sunday lunchtimes can be busy but the potatoes let them down today. Sorry

Lovely food good service reasonable pricing no booking. Steak cooked as requested chips onion rings fresh peas tomato peppercorn sauce and the other order a curry which was excellent Melissa in your mouth beef.

lovely food very accommodating for gluten free lovely staff only 1 thing bad to say I visit here regularly as my husband is coeliac and I feel their fish has gone downhill lately I've had many a fish and chips here and always had a lovely meal except for the last few visits when I have had fish including today I wasnt impressed it was overcooked

This particular Marstons has a very good reputation in the area almost considered to be restaurant standard , the management very professional the service very good . Drinks quality is also at the top end , lagers crisp and refreshing , wines innoffensive and sometimes damned good yet this cheap often mid week excursion is often spoiled by the whole reason for the visit _ a n alternative to home cooking and this is where Marstons are no better than an Iceland meal . The chips are oven cooked often limp and underwhelming , any meats microwaved and small portioned , steaks of the lowest quality and often we blame the 'chef' or chief microwaver when in fact it's the product that's the problem. Once they had a great garlic cream sauce but a bean counter reduced the cream now it's just a home bargains or B and M offering , their lasagne is rubbery cheap nasty and really reminds me of meals I eat when my kids were little , times when as long as it was quick I didn't care too much what it tasted like . Only when you visit rivals like the slug and lettuce or 'greene king ' do you realise food can still be cheap and yet not nasty . Now I realise that there will be quite a few peas and chips fans that will say they that this place is better than a Marco pierre white but I beg to differ and what I find galling is that with such great staff , a good premises , a regular paying clientele you still prefer to sell them such poor quality food . As a business model it will be like poundworld, doomed to fail as soon as one of the better chains opens a branch . For the red kite I am sure it will keep serving , for Marstons they need a kick up the A###.

Came in a couple of times while staying at the nearby hotel. Always a warm welcome and friendly staff with great service. The food was very good and reasonably priced, there is a specials board as well as the main menu so plenty of choice. Afterwards we were able to sit outside in a very nice seating area for a drink and there are also a couple of picnic tables

We had a meal here on Saturday afternoon, about 2.30. I had Scampi and Chips, which was really nicely cooked, lots of scampi and the chips were good. My Husband had a Steak and Ale pie which again was really good, also a lager and some beer. The meal was excellent and arrived quite quickly, service was good, it's always nice to be asked How was your Meal. The price of two for one is very good value. We have eaten here before and have always been very pleased, will do so again.

Turned up without reservation on a boiling hot day for my son's birthday and was seated within 20 minutes. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough to help. Amazing value for the price and we as a family thoroughly enjoyed x x

Good menu, decent food, good service and 2 for 1 mains make it good value. Just across the car park from Travelodge so ideal for travellers.

Always 2 meals for price of 1, decent choice of food, could serve better range of proper beer - always seems to be 'conditioning' in the cellar.

What has happened to the chicken? Ordered chicken and ribs couldn’t eat either. Been here lots of times never had chicken like this before. This was not freshly cooked definitely reheated and didn’t taste good. Did complain but manager not interested so this must be normal . What a shame.

Decided to come here this evening, this was a big mistake. We came into the resturaunt sat down next to the bar area and waited to be served, when the waitress came over and to our total surprise served the table next to us, they had only just arrived and were sat down for less than 1 minute, we had been sat down for nearly 10 minutes, even trying to get the waitresses attention did no good as she ignored that too. The girls that she served looked embarrassed so I know the waitress heard what I was saying, just chose to ignore us. Very poor customer service, if management ever care enough to read this post it was 6.50pm on Tuesday 18th june, this has happend twice to us now and it will not happen again, I can forgive a one of but we are not visiting a place the waiting staff pick and chose who they serve.

Went there on a busy Fathers Day, but that did not stop us getting great, friendly service and good food. Many thanks, will be back again soon.

First visit to the Red Kite and certainly wont be the last! Easy to find and plenty of parking spaces. Clean and tidy on the outside area and immaculate inside.

I come here with my parents once a week, and we tend to go when it is quiet. The food is almost always really nice. The portions did reduce in size a bit recently, but they seemed to have improved in recent weeks. The veggie curries there in particular are so good! I wanted to highlight too the waitress Gail. She always is so friendly yet professional, and we think she is a huge asset to the place.

Excellent service and lovely food we visit here quiet often as the restaurant staff are lovely and food for the money is always excellent. They have a extensive menu and something for everyone. Enjoy

We went for a lunch on Sunday. Both my daughter and her husband tried the Vegan Mountain Burger. They were both disappointed, as I was on a previous occasion. It was like chewing cardboard. Overcooked and pretty tasteless, unless you consider the taste of cardboard appealing. The rest of the food was alright. Very disappointed. The cauliflower wings are fantastic as are the Cauliflower wing tacos.

Distinctly average meal.Both of us were dissapointed looked better on the menu than the plate.staff were more interested in chatting than serving.Our drinks were really expensive so if you think your getting a bargain on the meals they make their money by overpriced drinks and ordinary food

Visited again to try out the new menu. Was quite busy but still got good service, by friendly staff and didn’t have to wait too long. Food was good and not too expensive with the 2 for 1 pricing. Would go again!

We arrived at seven straight away someone greeted us ,straight to a table with no trouble .The waiting staff were lovely nothing to much trouble for them .Talia and Ciara our waitress were so pleasant even though they were so busy we did not have to wait for anything lovely meal and atmosphere thankyou .

This 'two for one' Marstons pub represents good value for money.The real ale was also good.The two children were also well catered for.

Beef hard on top,probably because meal was microwaved to death.

Turned up for a family meal, plenty of tables available.

Went for a family meal - 8 of us. Staff were really accommodating and found us a table quickly even though it was a busy Friday night. Food was lovely and with it being 2 for 1 was really good value.
