Traditional Fish And Chips At The Hayes in Cardiff

Fresh fish and chips! It is a store on the road, not in a proper building. You can have a meal with a lot of pigeons. Cod could be a little blend, but it was no problem with free range of sauces - salt, ketchup, barbeque sauce... etc. We had it with curry sauce and it was good. It kind of tasted like Japanese curry.

Best chippy chips in a very long time especially in a city centre location.

Cod and chips, mushy peas, delicious, fish was amazing freshly cooked and loads of chips that were delicious, been here 6,7 times now over past fee years, always good food...highly recommend this place..

Food was nice and service reasonably fast for how busy. Lovely area too. My main issue was the tables wasn't clean and could do with a price board outside of cabin so can choose before queuing up

Lovely fish and chips - great portion with decent quality at less than 10 pounds (easily feed 1 hungry person or 2 light eaters). The curry sauce was excellent and tasted authentically asian (thick and flavourful). Location was great and service was friendly too.

No sauce on the burger. Ordered chicken burger with lettuce and assumed they would either add mayo or ketchup but it was DRY. £4.40 for a dry burger on it's own was a bit pricey in my opinion. Friendly staff though.

Brilliant quick service with a smile. Just what you want in the middle of a city center. Nice change from waiting in a long queue only to be half greeted with 'Next!'. The food is well priced for what it is. Great respite from shopping and the best place to sit and people watch!

we had a lovely meet at your take away. the staff were friendly and the service was with smile. The wait was too long at all and the fish was really fresh and delicious. Well done for using card boxes and not wrapping food in paper. The area around the restaurant was clean and quite family friendly , too. Well done! We will definitely return!

Come here nearly every time I go to Cardiff and it is always great. Paid £3 today for chips and curry sauce had the scrappiest chips I’ve ever seen and the worst attitude from the staff I’ve ever seen by saying “ that’s the potato we use “ great attitude. Won’t be coming again.

Chips were only ok but the fish was good and so were the prices

Some of the best chips I've eaten in a long time! Ordered a portion of cheesy chips, the chips were cooked exactly how I think they should be, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with no greasy residue. The cheese added to the taste experience!

Food was pretty good and service was quick. It's a lovely place to sit outside and eat. Prices are middle of the road, so not too expensive. Definitely worth a try.

A little disappointing. The fish was acceptable but the chips were simply cooked from frozen. They tasted stale, were soft on the outside and hard on the inside - the opposite to what you want!
