First time eating here and very, very impressed. When you walk in you feel like it’s fine dinning Turkish style. The staff are attentive and Roxy as well as the other waitresses were well presented and really welcoming. The food is simply outstanding, the flavour, taste and real Smokey grill kebab meats, along with the pomegranate salad are to die for. We had the chef special with everything on. Wow! Just one of the best restaurants in Southend. You must try!….oh and complimentary baklava at the end of the meal was such a nice touch we will definitely be back soon!!

Breakfast was very bad, they brought items for 2/3 pieces of food, it smelled, the cheese was moldy, the service came in 0 1 hour, they bought 35 pounts from us, it's an unnecessary place…..:(

We will definitely be returning and recommending to others. Has a 5 star rating. When walking past the kitchen to use the toilets the kitchen was very clean.

I am soo happy I found this place on Southend high street. I love Turkish food and this is the absolute best I've had to date. Everything was perfect. This is the best turkish food ive ever had without a doubt. The service by MM was excellent. Love the interior too. It was a bit quiet as was a Sunday eve which is why i gave that 4 stars. Me and my group of friends will definately be coming back for more delicious dinners.

Went here for the first time for a celebratory meal.Was absolutely thrilled, could not have wished for a better experience. We were seated right away and the atmosphere was stunning. Ordered seabass fish, it was presented beautifully and looked very appetising, it was full of rich and exquisite flavours, I was very pleased with my food and so were the others. Also had very positive encounters with the polite and staff which very very efficient and quick to serve us. Absolutely amazing, will be coming here again.

Went to black and red and as I walked through the door It felt very welcoming the staff treated me with a smile and throughout our whole stay they were very attentive. The food was outstanding , very big portions and very flavourful and at a reasonable price.

Black & Red is absolutely bangin’! Soon as we walked in, the vibe was spot on—proper warm and welcoming. The food? Next level. Everything was packed with flavour, cooked to perfection. The mixed grill was unreal, and the lamb just fell apart. But the real legend of the night was Roxy—what a diamond! Proper looked after us, always smiling, couldn’t do enough. If you ain’t been yet, sort it out—this place is top-tier!

My 1st time visiting Black and Red turkish restraunt, as I entered the warning tapes in floor were very worn so I did not see then and went flying, hit my head and my wrist was hurt quite badly. When I enquired should this be recorded in accident book i was told no because it was my fault that I did not see tape. When food arrived I was not impressed rice looked like bachelors rice heated, not up to turkish standard, I asked could I not have wrap just chicken, when that arrived it was laying in a bed smothered with mayo. I would not recomend this place as No. 1 did not deal with my accident professionally No.2 food was definitely not up to usual turkish standard.

I visited twice once this week once last week food was nice but service not we had to wait 30 minutes for desert asking 3 different waiters what is going on are we going to get it then we had it i wont be going there again

First time diners, great selection of Turkish and some English dishes. Memamen & Turkish breakfast was ordered, large portions of really tasty and well presented food. It was quiet when we went but others drifted in as we were leaving and it had a great vibe. £30 including drinks and a tip for 2 people, so we'll be back!

I took my fiance here for an early birthday meal. The front door could do with adjusting as it didn't close properly causing a draft which made it chilly, however they accommodated with electric heaters which soon warmed the restaurant, easy fix so don't let that put you off. The food was probably the best I've had at a Turkish restaurant, we had a starter each which was very tasty a bottle of wine and the mixed shish each. All of which was brilliant 👏🏻 and very reasonably priced. Hussain our waitor was such a nice person and his hospitality was very welcoming making sure we had everything we wanted and made us feel very welcome as did the other staff. The atmosphere was very fun and entertaining as there was live music there by Joe Gibson who is an amazing singer who we are lucky enough to have singing at our wedding later this year. Overall 10/10 and will definitely be returning to this restaurant when we are in the area again. Thanks for a great evening

First time here. Restaurant looked great on website & didn’t disappoint! Food fantastic. Service very welcoming especially by our server HY. Gave atmosphere 4 stars only because it was not busy as strange time just after NYE when nowhere tends to be busy. Definitely be back.

Food was all cold and missing all of our deserts, when the deserts were re-delivered we were still missing one. Not a good experience unfortunately on New Year’s Eve!

I had a work meeting with some guests from Oxford International Education Group. We enjoyed a lovely lunch. The food was 10/10 and service was amazing. I paid a deposit and sent them our order prior to arriving, starters were out within 10 mins and mains shortly after! Also had the best mocha i have tasted! Amazing!

I went to this restaurant yesterday with my family, although it was busy the service was exceptional the food was amazing cooked and the cocktails were even better, Charlotte come over to check everything was okay multiple times which made us feel well looked after, will definitely be telling all of our friends and returning soon.

Friday lunch celebrating a friends birthday Hadi, Charlotte & Roxy were incredibly attentive saw that she had been bought flowers so asked if she would like them put in vases of water.The food was plentiful presented beautifully full of flavour.There was a lunch time set menu or the main menu.A few of us were disabled with walkers it is a level access restaurant with a disabled toilet close to car park.If I could give more than 5 stars I would .

Delighted to have found this wonderfully decorated restaurant on our not so glamorous Southend highstreet. The restaurant goes back a long way, so, looking at the outside seating area it looks like another coffee shop. But, it's far from that!. The Turkish menu offers lots of choice, including affordable dishes and wine's. For a bottle of house white, this cost £16. The food portions are generous and tasty, and came with freebies such as flat bread and dips, and side salads. The staff are attentive and informative. I thoroughly recommend. Well done Black and Red. We need more businesses like yours on our high street.

Very nice restaurant. Food was great only slight downside was the halloumi tasting a bit rubbery. Lovely environment and service was amazing. Ordered mixed grill and got told that the chef dropped the chicken (not an issue) and will be sent out later so food won’t get cold. Was sent a baklava for desert due to this which was very nice from them. Highly recommend

What can I say? £12 for a two course meal? Undefeatable. Best lentil soup I've had in a while. The main meal tasted great too. Definitely going back.
