Just had fish and chips and the fish was overcooked and the batter was so burnt you couldn't cut it. Shame because they are usually ok.

Terrible don’t take card.frozen chips not proper fish&chip shop chips and they was very greasy also fish was over cooked and greasy.£1.90 for basically an egg cup full of curry sauce same with the peas.needless to say I won’t be going back!!!

Really disappointed in this place this eve. We regularly use them. They are abit more expensive but they are local. The last 2 times our pie has been stone cold in like it hadn’t been heated, the first time we left it but because it happened again a few days later we phoned to tell them. ( it was chicken so worried about maybe getting ill? ) they took over an hour to deliver a new one after having to phone again twice. When they finally came the driver just handed me the pie with no apology or even a hello sorry about that. I don’t think we will be returning again anytime soon unfortunately.

Nice little chippy for takeaway. The fish is good quality, with good batter. The chips aren't as good as some I've had elsewhere, but they're still pretty good. My only complaint would be that you can't pay by card.

Had a delivery from here for family and Stone cold, would have been a 1 star if it wasn't for previous collections have been good

Town fryer was recommend when we first moved to sandy. We havent gone anywhere else as these are delicious fish and chips. I've never had a bad order! Love this place 😁

Usually very good, on this occasion though they only gave me half of my order and missed a bag which meant I had to drive back to collect the rest. Food was very nice though

Not exactly my local but definitely worth the drive, freshly cooked and a decent price. The wife said it was the best fish and chips she’s ever had so enough said.

Food is good but when you order and pay for sauces and don't get given them it does ruin your meal, especially as it's happened more than once and when it's been quiet aswel. So don't think much of the service overall.

Terrible. Doesn't accept card in 2023, don't do buttered rolls in a chip shop.. that's pretty standard, they offered to toast some burger Buns and butter it, wasn't even buttered. Forgot to put our drinks in bag. Chips were greasy and chicken was cheap, worse than chicken from McDonald's. We only came here as Royal Fisheries were shut for refurbishment, but once they reopen il be going back there instead.

Hot, fresh chips and perfect fish. The staff are great, the menu has the whole range of chip shop items including kebab and pies. There's also a picture of a spooky ship which I love.

Hands down the best fish & chips in Sandy and in my opinion Bedfordshire on the whole, Actually, come to think of it the only place I have had better would maybe (maybe) be at a seaside town somewhere. Fast friendly service, walk in, or order on line , delicious hot food and excellent portions and prices, however please bear in mind they are one of very few establishments that take cash only. A large cod and chips costs under £12 and is perfect to split between me and my significant better half. Never had a bad meal from the Town Fryer 10 out of 10 on all fronts.

Nearest place to me as the Potton chip shop is closed for refurbishment. Astonished that in 2023 and post Covid they don't take cards for payment... need to join the 21st century. Food was OK but chips were very greasy and a bit bland. Haddock was nice enough but a bit dry. Portions were of good size and the kids meal got the thumbs up from my daughter. I'll still use Potton Royal Fisheries when it reopens

Staying in the area, I just googled the nearest chip shop. Wow, I was lucky that it was you. Stunning piece of fish with lovely batter served quickly and efficiently. Loved the way orders were taken and then being addressed by name made me feel so welcome.

The chips were among the worst I have had for ages as they were tasteless. I was also surprised to learn that they don't take cards but instead ask people to send them the money by a bank transfer

We used to love this takeaway and used to order from here about once a month. Recently though, we've noticed that sometimes the food quality isn't as good, or sometimes the portions are smaller, or on 3 occasions (including the most recent) our food has been cold (even when collecting in person). On the most recent experience today, we ordered our food on the website well in advance (1hr notice), but I still had to call when the food was past due arrival, only to be told that the driver hadn't left yet and they would be a maximum of 10 mins. Half-hour later, the delivery arrived, cold. Also, we are creatures of habit and generally order the same each time. However, our order used to cost 22.50 including delivery, but now costs 26 for the exact same order. Starting to go off of this place unfortunately, which is a shame, as we used to love it.
