We have had fish and chips here before,been ok but last night 6.30pm fish was greasy and tasteless,should not have been served to us no excuse was not busy they obviously dont care,will not be going back

Been coming here quite regularly for the past two years The fish and chips are absolutely delicious Coming from Yorkshire I was not expecting such large portions and great taste. Friendly couple The place is spotless. Only grumble I wish the place was opened at lunchtimes a lot more. Recommend

Lunch time chips saved until evening! They were like warm and tasted awful. Sadly this chip shop has gone downhill since Covid. A very expensive waste of money.

First time the chips were lovely and was keen to try again, sadly was a huge disappointment one I wont be repeating. The shop was very busy as it was a Friday evening but even still should not be an excuse for such poor quality food. The chips were anaemic and swimming in oil the fish although tasted reasonable again awash with a heart stopping amount of oil and grease.

The worst chips we have ever had - sad as used Brooks Rd for year - reheated and nasty. At nearly £20 for 2 cod and 1 chips completely unacceptable.

This always used to be our favourite chippy but unfortunately the food & customer service has seriously gone down hill. I kept giving them chances but tonight was the last time, chips were undercooked & had obviously been sat there a while as they'd gone hard, same with the battered sausages. It's a shame as the food here used to be tasty & fresh. I can see now why the place is always empty while the chippy at Windmill road is always packed - that's where I will be getting my food in future, + the customer service is always much better there.

I’ve never wanted to leave a bad review as there is always one offs. But this place I’ve kept giving chances. Chips are always undercooked, pies are not fresh (3/5) wasn’t fresh. And the customer service is appalling, lady at the front is always rude and blunt. (Members of community have stated the same) so no point complaining.

Just had the best fish and chips you could have, just as good as the seaside! It is best to order and collect that way you don't have long to wait and they are still hot and crispy when you get home. They are a cash only shop

Just had fish and chips and found the fish wet inside and totally tasteless,chips were ok did think about ringing them but find their Manner from what I have picked up on with dealing with customers quite rude at times,so I did not ring and complain as what would be the point wont go their again,this is not the first time I have not been happy

Anyone considering buying food here bare in mind they do not accept any card whatsoever. Cash only. Annoyed me after being there is it was such a good place

Paid with 2 x 20£ and she said i gave her 30£. Called me aliar and refused to check cctv that is pointing directly at cashier, telling me she didn't have time to check such things.

Great chippy, but can't understand why they don't have contactless payment or a square terminal, seems mental in this day and age...

We have been using this chip shop in Flitwick for 24 years and the quality, taste and friendly service keeps us loyal. Their attention to detail, especially during these COVID times is excellent, bless her, her hands must get so rough as I watched her using hand gel every time she served the next customer. I have never thought to review them before but during these awful times everyone deserves recognition when serving the community. Thank you.

I called at the brooks this evening which I've been to before today,they were allowing customers in without a face mask, one of the staff that was serving was coughing into her hand and drinking from a bottle at the counter and did not wash or sanitise her hands. Even without the pandemic that we are in the middle off this is still against hygiene regulations and very poor hygiene for a food handler, when we got home (about 5 minutes) the food was cold as well The last time we went the food was nice & hot and the service was good, it is a shame about my poor experience this time, the management need to retrain their staff on personal hygiene & dealing with Covid19 safety.

I went for cod and chips twice. We haven't been here since February 2020 due to covid restrictions. Still the same first quality food. Brilliant service as always. And good safety measures in place. A1 Service as always. Well done to Brookes Road chippy.

Been going to Brookes road chippy for sometime now when I feel the urge to have fish and chips they never disappoint when I ask for a small cod and chips I get a whale and chips most of the time lol which I don’t mind at all. Always have good banter and a laugh with them the chips never stick to the paper when you dish them out which means they use quality oil for cooking same for the fish not sure where the bad reviews come from maybe they were having an off day and let’s face it we all have them from time to time don’t we so to summarise if you want great fish and chips go to Brookes road.

We go there regularly but have missed out due to Covid 19, but going back tonight as we are in the older age group so can venture out now. We find the lady who serves is very quick and efficient and friendly and the fish and chips are excellent, second only to sitting by the sea and eating them out of paper.

Great location & parking , food does the job and handy next to grocery shop , miserable bordering on rude staff though which is a shame, lets it down. tend to under cook chips but otherwise ok. Also don't accept cards which in this day and age is really in- excusable as not expensive for businesses. very rude when informing this info as well!! We use when has to but bette alternatives in Flitwick.

Food is freshly cooked, parking outside, little bit dearer than some fish and chip shops but always a warm welcome and food is nice. They do need to start taking card payments as people dont always carry cash with them.

As guests at Centre PARC's we had a craving for fish and chips, so we took a quick trip to Flitwick. I would highly recommend Brookes fish and chips for their great food and friendly service. You will need a insulated bag to keep your food hot because it takes an age to find your car park your car and find your lodge,😊. You were warned.

Same family run business for as long as I've been living in Flickwick 16 yrs.

I can honestly say this is the best fish, chip and mushy pea shop you could want to buy from, I've haddock them here and there, cod I travel around and never skate on the price, but herring Flitwick, furthest away from the sea, lives a mackerel of a plaice to be reveared, no shark practice, just an honest bloater of a meal, I dont know of any vinegary complaints nor salty remarks only praise for the way they batter their rivals, so cast your net father a field and try them out, please believe I'm not buttering you up or expecting you to float on bye, but to enjoy their offerings at a sensible price, not cheap - but fair for the delivery, I'm not scampi-ing you, best frying tonight.... 😂 Rich

Excellent food and super friendly

The food is okay, usually fresh and hot. However, the young lady who often serves in there always seems to be in a bad mood. It has been the last three times we visited. Most recently she seemed to get annoyed when I asked for salt and vinegar as she was wrapping the food (she hadn't offered like every other chip shop). Instead she grumpily told me she wasn't a mind reader! If she is going to continue to speak to customers then please give her some training.

We always like our fish and chips from here, the wife likes rock which is sometime difficult to get elsewhere, but the standard of the meal is always high, but tonight surpassed all other occasions, absolutely wonderful, whatever the change please keep it, thank you very much for a great meal.

Came here yesterday as a treat for my son & his friend. We've had food from here on quite a few previous occasions when my husband has picked it up for us & its been lovely every time. This was the 1st time I've ever actually been to get the food myself & the lady who served us was very nice, & took the time to speak to the children as well. My son decided to try something different to what he usually has & was not disappointed, as was the same for the 3 other meals. Will be coming back for sure.

Had some chips last night for the football. It was busy but service was far from friendly and when I opened the chips they were barely cooked and full of black chips. Couldn’t stomach them and binned the lot.

Rude staff (I hope it's the owner because if that is a member of staff then they're paying them to ruin their business). The lady was uninterested and very brash - we didn't realise they didn't take cash and were very apologetic (she hadn't started getting our food so hadn't bagged everything up). We asked if they knew where a nearby cashpoint was..."no." Turns out the convenience store right next door has one, which I'm sure they would know as it's clearly visible through the window. It's been a long time since I've felt like being a customer is an inconvenience, but I won't be going back to experience it again.

We decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway.My son kindly went to get it for us and was surprised they don't accept cards so he had to go to the cash point, twice as didn't anticipate 4 fish, curry sauces and 2 lots of chips would be £28 !! I was amazed and despite the fact we enjoyed them, can't see us having them regularly as it's such alot of money !

Great fish and chips, pies are really good too baked not microwaved. Loads of options other than just fish and sausages they do a burger onion rings spring rolls to name a few and love the curry sauce.

I've been going to Brookes Road Chip Shop for many years and I have always found the staff to be pleasant, chatty & efficient. Also, the fish & chips have invariably been delicious. I would thoroughly recommend this local establishment.

Very good fish and chips. The staff can sometimes be a little bit rude though if you try and order from the queue for things that need specially cooking. If you are standing in a queue for 10 minutes it makes sense to ask for something that takes 6 minutes to cook!

El hombre en esta tienda, que supongo es el dueño, tiene muy pobre servicio al cliente. Muy abrupto. He estado aquí un puñado de veces cuando Chips WINDMILL ROAD ha sido ocupado y nunca han disfrutado de los peces pasada y patatas fritas. Afortunadamente Ampthill tiene ahora un nuevo Kebab Shop Sirve decente pescado y patatas, así que no se requiere una visita a Brooke Road.

We often use this fish and chip shop as we consider it the best one locally - the portions of fish are always large and you also get plenty of chips too. There are also vegetarian options like spring rolls and cheese and onoion pasty.

Really excellent fish and chips. Like a chippy should be, wrapped in paper. Been twice now and will defiantly be going again. I don’t like skin on my fish and if there are not too busy you can have a large fish with the skin off. Lovely curry sauce and peas.

I always choose Haddock as it is always cooked while you wait. It would also appear that this also applies to other types of fish.

We sought this chip shop out on previous reviews as we were in the area. I must say I was extremely disappointed. When we arrived there was a queue, so I thought it must be good, ordered fish and chips, pie, sausage and curry sauce. The sausage and pie was anaemic. Fish was greasy but chips weren't too bad, the curry sauce was watered down, however whilst I would not go back again for the food, the fryer was extremely jolly. I might have gone on a bad day, but will never return.

Popped in for a bite of lunch on the go. Had a battered sausage and chips open. Great value at under 3 quid and lovely chips to boot. Can't knock a good chip shop and this certainly I s one. If you fancy fish and chips get involved!!!!!

We have used this chip shop for many years & have found the food excellent. We usually phone an order through & shortly after arriving our order is hot & ready. We are never disappointed. There are several other chip shops locally & many mobile vans but this is extremely good value - the best!

Have used Brookes chip shop on numerous occasions , my father used to love a Fresh piece of cod every Friday before he went into a home . Had Fish and Chips today for my wife and myself and it was Fantastic . Fast friendly service , HIGHLY RECOMMEND , GOOD VALUE , GOOD PORTION SIZE .

Used this for some time, two couples run this shop one couple very friendly but the other are so miserable and portion sizes are half the size of a normal portion, but mostly really miserable so won't be going back again
