料理自体はなんてことないが、店員の女性の態度サービスが酷かった。1日の最初に最悪の気分になった。二度と利用したくない。

Spa day deal Massage with Lorraine was very good , and unfortunately that’s where the hood ends . Pool was 1/2 closed off for elderly aqua aerobics , the music for this is loud bells and whistle interluded pop music ..not relaxing at all and made the pool very small . I found this too much and went to sit in the quiet room in the spa but I don’t think the girls realised anyone was their as they were chatting loudly in the hall and moving furniture around which was irritating . Went for lunch , no explanation to the ‘deal’ we had , we ordered a starter, main and soft drink ..THEN we were told we had £15 for food and drinks were extra and so owed £12 .. No salmon , the waitress asked “who ordered salmon” ? I said “me” she said ~ “we don’t have it “ very strange, abrupt and unapologetic exchange …I ordered something else ..hands down easily the WORST meal I’ve had in a long long time .. Pic included was the chips served for £5 , £5!!! They were rotten ..tasted reheated 100% Anyway , we laughed and left ..never to return . Hotel exterior and grounds are beautiful , interior is like your grans house in the 70s

A bottle of SA wine that sells in stores for £7,50, we payed £30 . The lamb shoulder dish had more peas than lamb in it. The taste was lingering too long in your mouth, not nice. For a simple dish like that £21. Very disappointing and overpriced

The dining area is small with several tables, making hearing one another a challenge. We were seated at a table that was wonky and left to our devices. We ere offered some water at which point we mentioned the wobbly table. It was fixed with a piece of cardboard. However, because the table was push up against the wall every movement made the table squeak against the wall. There was absolutely no atmosphere, no music, just loud guests. We had to get someone's attention to order drinks. Once the food was placed down, we never saw another member of staff once. We were not asked how the food was or offered any additional drinks during the meal. The finished plates sat on the table for ages. Regarding the menu - disappointing in the selection. Extremely small range of items to choose from. We settled on a burger and fish and chips, they were adequate, nothing special unfortunately. Had the menu been available online prior to booking, i would not have selected the restaurant due to the lack of choice. Overall extremely disappointing.

This was our first visit to the Tower Restaurant and we were more than happy with both the meal and the service. The current dinner menu is slightly limited due to the coved virus however there was still a more than adequate choice. The current covid regulations were being adhered to by the staff and this in no way detracted from our enjoyment of the meal. Service was efficient, the meal was very good if not exceptional, and the cost was acceptable for a hotel restaurant

Food was very tasty. My least favourite course probably would have been the soup however but I think that’s more a personal preference because I prefer soups that are blended/this was a vegetable broth. Other than the soup and the bread there was not any starters that would suit myself and my partner which again is just probably as we are a little bit of picky eaters. Others have mentioned the service was really slow but I didn’t experience this. No issues with the service. Food was tasty. My chicken main was a little on the small side but really nice, I actually had wished I had more of the carrots to go along with it. My partners main on the other hand he found to be too large and did struggle with it. Would dine here again if we were staying for another spa break.

Restaurant not big enough to accomodate all guests, so had to eat in the bar 2 out of 3 nights. When I manage to did eat in the restaurant, the service was dreadful. Food orders consistantly wrong. Shame because the food was great.

Fixed menu in Summer when we had overnight stay. So limited choice, which is odd for this type of hotel. Veg choice of pea risotto was pretty basic. Overall ok

I booked to stay in the hotel based upon wanting to eat in the restaurant. I was bitterly disappointed. I have a wheat intolerance, so told the waiter who said they would pass it on. I ordered the terrine for a starter, which came with 2 massive slices of toast. The waiter wasn’t sure what to say, asked exactly what I was intolerant to, I said ‘wheat’ and questioned the toast, he asked if he could take it away, removed the toast and left me with a plate with slices of terrine on it - starter done. So onto main course, I ordered pork, it was tough and the potatoes hard, sent it back. I was offered a drink as an apology. Very poor, the chef needs to seriously reconsider attaching his name to the restaurant!

Head chef Jeremy Wares. Lacks atmosphere. Staff seriously in need of training, very amateur. Total lack of imagination with vegetarian food; are chefs really still doing only goats cheese or mushroom? Omnivores were ‘satisfied’. Needs to try harder.

Visited this restaurant last September and was really disappointed. Being a sister restaurant to the Witchery I expected the food to be outstanding. I had the lobster which was served with chips. Very basic and extremely over priced. The other dishes looked beautiful. Beautiful views of the city though!

We came back from a very wet and cold in Edinburgh. This was our free night with our tour. Seems everyone came downstairs. It is not very big, but the food is excellent!! The ice cream sundae was the best.

Un bon repas au restaurant the Tower. Un accueil charmant et des serveurs à votre écoute. Nos repas étaient bien garnis, cuits comme souhaité. Un établissement à recommander pour goûter aux spécialités écossaises.

We stayed at the Houston House Hotel recently and had dinner at the restaurant. Although you could tell the hotel was keen to make a big deal of the named chef, the delivery on the night didn't live up to the expectation. Both our starters were nice, but the mains were just okay. I had the seared cod with bean and seafood stew. The cod itself lacked flavour, but luckily the stew was quite tasty. The dish was covered in far too much samphire, which just made everything a bit too salty. My wife had shin of beef, which was only just warm when it came out, not what you'd expect in a place like this. There was a good selection of wines available, and the one we chose was delicious. Service was reasonably fast and friendly, but the staff lacked knowledge of the dishes on offer.

After some negotiation about using our £30 allowance against the a la carte menu, we enjoyed very good food and excellent service. As usual the Macdonald breakfast was excellent. You would have to be very fussy indeed not to find something you like.
