Tossed UK restaurant in Uttlesford

Recently visited here as a coach driver only to be told this outlet does not take coach driver vouchers - avoid

I enjoyed the vegan muscle mezze rainbow wrap with falafel, houmous, cucumber, mint, pickled red onion, pomegranate, pickled veg and rainbow slaw. It could have been improved however with a more generous helping of falafel.

Then u move onto collect your drinks staff not freindly do not ask us if u want chocolate sprinkles on your cappuccino . Not impressed

Healthy but that's about it, so overpriced for what they give you. The food was healthy, but not that great..

Stopped for a break with the family and what a relief to have some healthy food available at a services. Superfood salad was awesome and he smoothie was such a great change from another motorway coffee. Please please please roll out more of these at motorway services!!

The chicken wrap was really nice! There was no queue, unlike the other booths. We took longer to serve than the other booths. Painfully slow. We did all enjoy our healthier option it has to be said and thought the chilli chicken wrap was ok priced at £4.99 at a services. I would probably use again to see if the long wait was a one off.

Over indulged last couple of days and thought I’d try Tossed as it said healthier eating place. Tablet ordered quick swift service and it tasted delicious, why have I not eaten these before? £4.99 for large chicken veg wrap.

They claim to be modern trendy healthy eating. See the tray cover on the photo. According to the pictures and words you expect a big plate or bowl of great salad (Quote “eating better not less” and “eat to your hearts content”) and with my order additional falafel. You can see what I got for £7.99 for salad and a coffee for £3.29 for a standard cappuccino. A plastic bowl shaped to minimise the content. Plenty of cheap ingredients like nacho crisps and lettuce. Falafel hidden inside no doubt to hide the quality. And of course plastic non-recyclable knife and fork. The taste was ok - not better and the cap was poor. The service was quick but when I was asked if eat in and I questioned if they had proper plates and mugs told no only takeaway. I guess eating in gave me a tray instead of a bag. When I pointed to the many advertisement pictures and said this doesn’t look like them I was told to complain to HQ. My advice. Tossed claim to be campaigning for healthy eating however they obviously are not concerned at all about plastic waste nor in my opinion are they selling what they advertise. My conclusion is don’t use them. Go to Waitrose and buy a salad and eat in the food court. Less plastic, less cost and frankly more honesty.

Food ok but wow what a good healthy choice of options. Heard also gluten free from another customer. Best thing here was the lovely gentleman who serve me, very pleasant and asked how my day was. He made it!

It was nice to see a healthy option outlet next to the Kentucky Fried Chicken stand. My wife had a grilled halumi pot which was tasty. There seemed to be a significant amount of excess oil dressing on the salad which means that perhaps it wasn't quite as healthy as one originally thought. Though next to KFC it wins hands down.

Pleasantly surprised to find a healthy option at Birchanger Green service station on way to the airport. Grilled chicken salad with bacon, avocado and sweet potato, chicken was still warm (as requested) and very tasty. Coffee was good too, as was the sweet chilli chicken wrap that hubby had. Well done Birchanger Green! No food pics as I've already eaten it, i would say podge portions wernt overly large, so definitely choose the large size. Cost for 2 meals a bottle of water and a coffee was just over £16, so typical of charges for service station.

Stopped off to get some smoothies on 27th June and had the worst experience! The female member of staff was extremely rude rolling her eyes when I asked for my drink to be changed. Honestly do not waste your money

I was really excited about going here and thought the food on the menu looked great. The reality was a real let down. I ordered off an iPad, and was instantly given sad looking salad with a gloopy sauce and a pre- prepared kale etc juice which I had to leave. My stomach didn't take kindly to the cooked and raw food combo with largely lentil base. Disappointing.

Well I won’t be going back to Tossed again , why not have a good visible menu like everyone else ? Can’t be bothered with scrolling through loads of options on a iPad so bad start there .... my wife had an halloumi/chicken wrap with the smallest portion of chicken, the wrap was stuffed with loads of soggy cabbage and cucumber, it fell to bits and looked like someone had tossed in it ! It was awful ‘ ..... I ordered the hot n spicy Mexican toss pot ‘ I was not impressed ! It was piping hot that I burnt my tongue’ it wasn’t at all spicy ‘ infact it was rather tasteless .... the smallest amount of chicken, cheese and Mexican sauce, but loads of cheap foul tasting rice underneath .... never again .... bunch of tossers

I have never been to a motorway services and left thinking what nice food. Until today. Tossed serves a range of healthy hot and cold food, some as wraps and some as bowls of vegetables and rice with or without chicken. It’s a real antidote to the usual Burger King/Subway/KFC junk food that’s often all you can get. Tossed is finally offering the sort of food I want to eat on the motorway. If you love good healthy and very tasty food give it a try.

I just ordered a chicken, bacon and avocado salad with grilled chicken and i have just got back to my office to tuck in and sadly noticed that the salad does not contain avocado and the chicken has not been grilled. I also ordered the same salad a couple of weeks ago to find a similar scenario whereby sweet potato has not been included although this has been specified on the menu. I don't normally like to complain however i am extremely angry and disappointed especially noting these salads are not cheap.

On a coach trip and stopped for a break. I ordered a large chicken superveg while the others were getting subway. I'm gluten free so thought Birchanger wouldn't offer much but I was pleasantly surprised by this.The food was prepared quickly and tasted lovely. So many fresh and healthy ingredients in one bowl! I couldn't eat it all in one go in the time I had but I took it back to the coach for later. The portions are generous and the super grains are incredibly filling.The system is automated so you select your food choices on a tablet, pay then wait to be called. The food ticket goes to the back kitchen and the food quickly appears on the counter. All this probably means that the front counter staff member often doesn't need to say much at all. However when I asked about the preparation area and if there was any risk of cross contamination, and could they take extra care to avoid any, she didn't seem to understand and it took quite an exchange before she could understand what I meant. I'm presuming this was a language issue, as although overall she sounded like she spoke fairly good English it was not her first language. Overall a good experience and I would certainly eat from there again.

I bought a halloumi warp here for just under £5 so not cheap for a sandwich.... it was full of nasty tasting red cabbage and 3 tiny pieces of halloumi - I grumbled and they made me another one with - wait for it - 4 tiny bits of halloumi!!!A rip off. Never again

So good to have fresh, healthy food at roadside services. Nothing worse after being stuck in a car than only having the normal junk food options.Had to stop for lunch with family and had a decent lunch. Freshly made salads are fast and excellent. Kids had wraps and could take them away easily for the car. Smoothies went down well too. So glad can now sit comfortably in the car again without feeling bloated.More tossed around the country at especially at roadside services please

Good food although the skin was a little too hard for my liking but not complaining. It was healthy, which was the main thing. Staff were very friendly - thank you, Iwona. Always a bonus

We have visited before and love the healthier food options. The food has always been delicious but on this occasion we were hugely disappointed. The warps were dry, the goujons overcooked and the main ingredients lost amongst the salad. When I complained about the quality of the goujons and the wraps I was asked if I was asking for a refund. No apology was given. I was refunded for one item despite having complaint with both. Disappointed as previous visits have been hugely enjoyabl for a quick bite.

I'm a regular here (not visited any other Tossed outlets to compare). I adore the chipotle wrap with spinach and falafel. However, on Saturday a delivery apparently did not arrive so the wrap was minus falafel and spinach. I opted for it regardless substituting lettuce and extra avocado without a problem. Generally, the tasty wrap is overstuffed and very filling for one person. I often cut it in two and spread over two meals. It was a busy lunchtime and staff seemed under pressure. Service was still quick but I received the wrong drink. Equally delicious freshly squeezed juices as my actual order, so I didn't make an issue of it. Lovely food but go at a quiet time.

We visited and wanted a quick healthy bite to eat. When we received our 2x jacket potatoes they were warm on the outside but not all the way through. We pointed this out to the staff who then reheated them. No apology was given and they were only mildly hotter. The selection was good and makes a great alternative to the vast amount of fast food you are surrounded by.

I love fast food and am a Burger King aficionado but when driving long distances I prefer a lighter lunch. This place is fantastic and so good to have healthier food in service stations. Man cannot live on Pepparami and All Day Breakfast sandwiches alone. Delicious fish finger sandwich, tomato & basil smoothie and a Green Dream smoothie. Not super-cheap but good value for money (all this was £13.67). Cheerful, smiley service. Big thumbs up and recommend.

what a relief to find this haven of good healthy food at a very busy motorway service area ... attractive welcoming zone within the large open area .healthy food , freshly cooked , plus smoothies and salads attentively served by knowledgeable staff they deserve their team TOTW ( Tosser of the week!) award
