Tortugas in Worcester

We really enjoyed our visit to Tortugas in April 2024. Very tasty food, it is nice to visit a Craibbean restaurant, most tend to be cafe's. The food was excellent, with a great atmosphere. Will visit again when next in Worcester.

I really wanted to love this restaurant, the ambience is really nice and there’s lots of great decoration. It has a fun vibe and is known for its cocktails and we had high hopes for the food. We booked a table on a Thursday evening, sadly we were the only table for the 2.5 hours we were in the restaurant. The service was lack luster and considering we were the only table the attention was poor. The cocktails which were amazing, we had a couple of rounds, they’re good value and looked great. For me, the food lacked spice and seasoning and was quite average. The coconut chicken didn’t taste of coconut and the dumplings were chewy. For £17 I would have expected much better, the plating was underwhelming as well. The platter was much better value but again lacked spice. Pudding was equally bland, we had the strudel and it had a very soggy pastry which I would have expected to be quite crisp for a strudel. I really wanted to love this restaurant as it’s an independent, in a great location and the menu looks fab. I would give it a second go but it’s currently not good value and the food needs a lot of work.

Cheeky little meal out after a visit to the cinema. Walked down New Street knowing we’d trip over somewhere worth visiting and happened on this joint. Wow. What is not to like? Very good Caribbean food, great service and realistic prices. Highly recomended…

I had largely given up writing reviews, but felt I had to share how completely average and underwhelming my visit was. Booked on a Friday night with my friend, who said he really loved going here and how hard it was to get a reservation . Well just one day in advance. There were plenty of tables free. Maybe that means things are really going downhill. My mail was distinctly underwhelming. I’m very unseasoned. .There was nothing interesting about it. It was called chicken ting something. Conversely my desert was peanut caramel brownie and this was extremely salty. Perhaps they should think about seasoning their main courses as much as the desert. Service also was distinctly average I was asked for my order several times, but then took half an hour to get somebody to take a dessert order Overall release disappointed as I’ve heard great things about this place. I love spices and great flavours but didn’t get any of it here.

Average - when I phoned in the day told it was fully booked only Space was 6.30 it was dead in there and very cold. First tables didn’t start filling up till 7.15. Partner had chicken on the bone didn’t feel it was cooked well and lacked taste. I had jerk chicken rice and chips. It was ok. It was a little cold in there- rushed service- no atmosphere wouldn’t rush back. Would go there for a lunch maybe or a cocktail just not a date night.

Drinks were lovely, food tasted great and the service was really appreciated, food took a little time to get to us but we felt it was worth the wait!

Connor and his colleagues are great hosts and very accommodating. I have eaten here 3 times with family so arranged my works xmas dinner here. I requested where I wanted to eat for 14 people which connor organised with no issues. All my colleagues said that the food was great and loved the cocktails and Guinness. This has been my go to place since I found it summer 2023. The wife loves it as her favourite is the pork belly. If there are any negative reviews ignore it as this is a great restaurant, warm and inviting.

We visited Tortugas the weekend of the Victorian Fayre so appreciate it was a busy weekend for them, but….. It was freezing cold in there, uncomfortably so. The service was slow, but we were in no particular rush. My sons belly pork was cold so returned and sent back after a zap in the microwave. A fresh dish would have been nicer. My biggest gripe was when our glum waitress bought out the mains courses yet we had no cutlery. When we asked for some she bought out a small selection which was not enough for the table and said there wasn’t anymore as they have been busy. WTF……!! When paying the bill we were asked if everything had been ok to which I told them it hadn’t been the best experience, his reply was “well it’s the busiest weekend of the year”. I sure as hell won’t be spending my money here again and nor would I recommend to anyone.

Went for the first time last night. Curried goat and dumplings were so tasty, I think the best I've ever tried at any restaurant. Cocktails are beautiful, will be back very soon hopefully! 😋

Went for first time tonight and was not disappointed. Asked if the vegetarian platter would be too much for one person they said yes and then adapted it so it was a scaled down version as a meal for one. Surf and turf was great. Cocktails were delicious and staff were attentive and pleasant. Would highly recommend.

Visited for a family meal and enjoyed great food, between us we sampled most of the menu and all enjoyed our food. Good options to choose from, lots of flavour. The service was excellent, very warm and friendly made us feel really welcome.

Absolutely stunning as always. Cocktails are a great way to start, plenty to choose from alcoholic and virgin. I always leave wanting to come back and try another one on the menu! Food is always delicious full of flavour and high quality. Portion sizes are more than generous, I can honestly say I have left more than satisfied every time we have been. Service is 5 star without being intrusive. Service really pays a massive part in my dining experience so thank you for always being Brill and personable.

Amazing food and drinks. I was very much missing Caribbean cuisine, this hit the spot. Rest of my family loved it too. Something different to the usual food on offer. Great atmosphere and delicious cocktails & mocktails! Jackfruit Roti & Beef stew were gorgeous. Our server was lovely too. Was getting seriously fed up of paying for average food when dining out, this restored my faith. Just go!

Went here 15/7/23. Was in the restaurant for almost 3 hours, but it didn’t feel anything like that amount of time. Staff were beyond exceptional, friendly, polite and attentive, but not overly so. Food was amazing. I had the jerk chicken this time. Next time it’ll be the curried goat. Not too many options, but, generally speaking, the larger the menu, the lower your expectations should be. Tiki cocktails are excellent, tried 3 of them this time, and I’m determined to try most of the others too😂 You’re not rushed at all, and, when you’ve finished your meal are welcome to stay for just drinks.

Wow! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great food (especially the veggie platter!) and excellent service! The atmosphere was relaxed and the ‘down to earth’ attentiveness of staff was so refreshing. Thank you Tortugas, my family and I will certainly be back!

We decided on Tortugas for our 2nd wedding anniversary, having not really eaten much Carribbean food in the past and fancying something a bit different and we were absolutely blown away by the quality of their magnificent food and brilliant service. Greeted and seated by one of the owners (he even chased us down the street afterward with a bag we had accidentally left behind haha) and thoroughly taken care of by the waiting and kitchen staff, we were treated like royalty and had a really wonderful time in their charming restaurant. We will definitely be back very soon to drink more of their amazing cocktails, try more off of the menu and of course, to devour more of the incredibly moreish Fried Mac and Cheese balls! P.S Great music too. Whether you're out for a few drinks or some great food, check it out, you wont regret it.

Incredible cocktails, delicious food, generous portions and fantastic staff – we love this place! We had a beef patty starter (to share), chicken curry and brown beef stew with a side of festivals – couldn't finish it all, so came home with a 'doggy bag'! The cocktails really are tremendous, the 'Zombie' especially. Fab atmosphere. We originally visited last August with family, and then again as a couple on 31 May: both times were excellent, and we'd come much more regularly if we didn't live in London! Thankyou for a fantastic evening, we can't wait to visit again!

Started with the prawns, three of. OK, it’s a starter so no big deal. Had the pork belly for main. One single pork strip, with a few small pieces of plantain on the side. I wouldn’t have expected this as a child’s portion, but to charge what they do for maybe £3 worth of food is simply not acceptable. Once bitten by etc, we’ll not be returning.

Absolutely stunning place! Food exceptional & the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The soup was a particular favourite of ours and the Ackee & salt fish was Devine . We will be recommending to all .
