Hi Laura. This is George. I live across the road and used to come and dine at your great place with many friends and girlfriends well over 20 + years. Just came back from my long holiday in Budapest and find out you had closed. Major! I'll miss you so much. I was so lucky to be living right on top of the best Italian restaurant in the South of UK. This was the best Italian restaurant ever. We celebrated there all our birthdays and Laura could not have been more helpful and obliging. The menu was fantastic, the service impeccable, the atmosphere unique and the prices very fair. I am writing this with tears in my eyes. Thanks for everything Laura. I am just hoping that you will find live a bit boring after a while and bring Topo Gigio back to life. Please, please do.

Well what a fantastic restaurant Topos was. Myself ( the red fringed lady), Rob ( liver and sardine man) partners and friends loved loved your restaurant. Over the years, even after moving away we always enjoyed your food and quick wit! You have earnt a well earned rest. I gave never met much wonderful restauranteurs. First Class: my wife and I have a landmark birthday coming up next month and discussing in recent weeks where to celebrate and it was a unanimous choice to go to Topo Gigio which was the favourite restaurant of her late Father: enormously sadly to see that this greatly loved restaurant has now closed but huge thanks to Laura and her family and colleagues for their hospitality over many, many years: you will be sadly missed.

Laura and family so sad to see you have closed but understand you need to enjoy time with family now, Your restaurant will sadly be missed by lots of people we enjoyed such good times at topo's over the years fun and laughter. where do we go now not sure as topo's was always first choice for us. A good value family restaurant. Excellent choices in the 3 course set menus, and no additional costs for vegetable side dishes or the bruschetta on arrival. Service is quick and friendly. The named house wine are good, and inexpensive. Most customers are regular locals.

Really friendly and wellcoming. Amazing value for money and a large menu. Set menu must be the best value for money and vast choice. Liver cooked perfecly, the veal chop is thick and buttery and the skate is a must. My go to place for a very enjoyable dinner

good food, excellent service, but small portions. We had 6 drinks ,4 starters ,4 mains and 2 deserts. A amazing price of £115 including service

If I had a criticism,it would probably be an overwhelming amount of choice. It was ĺovely to have all the added items already on the table,olives, bread, bread sticks etc. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you. Joann.

Charged nearly £3 for some oil and Balsamic to go with the bread already on the table. They obviously don't want us to return!!!!

This was one of my favourites restuarants offering a very extensive set menu and offering great value for money and always been happy with the food until now. During my recent visit I decided to go for the ala carte menu and for my starter ordered the scallops wrapped in bacon that I have eaten elsewhere on many ocassions but what I was served up here was just beyond belief and utterly shameful. What I was presented with were thick rolls of bacon with a piece of scallop stuffed inside and they had obviously been microwaved rather than pan fried as is the norm and can only assume it was the chefs day off and they had a school kid doing the cooking in half term. The fillet steak for my main course was not as described and the pate topping was merely a couple of dabs of liver pate and not my idea of a pate topping and not even flavour appropriate for a steak, the rich Madiera sauce was also absent and served with pretty much the same watery sauce as the scallops. The steak itself was very tender and tasted okay but had my suspicions that had been microwaved too as it was devoid of a char and any real colour. If I went back I would stick with the set menu as everything I have picked from there in the past has been fine, the ala carte was a waste of money and not enjoyable.

Great food and a wonderful selection to choose from.

This was my first visit to this wonderful Italian restaurant. I had heard so much about it from friends and was definitely not disappointed. Friendly, courteous staff, good quality food, impressive menu and such affordable prices. Would highly recommend. Bowls of olives on tables, also bread and garlic bread provided without extra charge.3 course meal, with plenty of great options for £15.95. Great portion size.

First class food, service and so nice not to have music loud music, which people have to shout over. I also think very reasonable prices. Will return soon.

My friends and I all love Topo Gigio. It never disappoints. The restaurant is always spotless, the tables look lovely with their white table cloths. There is always fresh bread on the tables, jugs of water and nibbles such as olives. The food is always delicious. There is a huge choice, as the menu offers a variety of starters, main courses (Meat, fish, pasta and vegetarian), and superb desserts, everything reasonably priced. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Although we don’t know the connection with the smart little mouse, we’ve been coming here for at least 30 years and last week brought my sister, who is married to a great cook of Italian heritage. The meal didn’t disappoint us or our knowledgable guest! Generous portions of delicious food at very reasonable prices. Prompt service and happy atmosphere: busy even though it was mid-week. I think that tells you enough about this excellent family restaurant.

Very enjoyable meal as always, only problem the wide choice of dishes, which one to choose, but it does mean customers have a wide choice , so if they don't like chicken there is plenty others to choose from. Prices are still economical

We’ve been going to Topo Gigio for a few years and we’ve enjoyed every meal there. The three course set menu is excellent value - generous portions and a vast selection for all three courses. The restaurant has always been packed whenever we’ve been, and it’s understandable why. Every meal we’ve had has been delicious and a great reflection of good traditional Italian cooking. The service is super efficient. Even with the restaurant being so busy, all courses are served on time and with great attentive service. Topo Gigio is a delightful Italian authentic restaurant, and Laura and her family are great at what they do. If you visit Topo Gigio once, I’m sure you’ll keep going back! Great friendly italian resaurant,great food n service

Cannot get through to book a table. Ever time I call I get a bored, disjointed message telling me they are closed ! Website says they are shut sat and mon. Tues they are still closed. With all respect you will lose customers if this doesn’t change ! Plenty of Italian restaurants in the area.

Great retro restaurant and when "Retro" is done well, like here, its unbeatable! Delicious starters, try the Grilled Sardines, smashing Mains, the Dover Sole melts in the mouth and the Calves Liver, although well done, was delicious Superb deserts and good espresso to end what was an excellent meal. With wine £80, Extraordinary.... We'll be back very soon!

Been going to this restaurant for years. Its my mum and dads favourite place. The menu options are just massive and the price for a 3 course menu is under £20 which is madness. Some of the food could be more flavoursome. There is a carpark behind the restaurant if no space on the slip road. Place is busy during the week as well as weekends. I would recommend booking.

This place is great. We came for the set 3 course £18 menu. Lots of choice. Excellently cooked. Lovely staff. Always busy so make sure you book. Plenty of parking on the streets nearby. Would highly recommend 👍🏻

First visit to this delightfully unassuming restaurant. Such good value, good service & high quality food which was in plentiful supply. Eggs mayonnaise & goats cheese with chutney were superb starters. Both liver & chicken were first rate main courses. Lovely Italian ice cream to complete a splendid evening.

A really great location for authentic, delicious, and home cooked Italian food. Great value with three course set menu for £17.50 per head , and something for everyone. Professional and prompt service- would recommend the cannelloni and the spaghetti bolognese.

Visited this lovely traditional restaurant for lunch with friends. Huge choice on the menu. We choose the very reasonable set menu. On the table was water, bread, breadsticks & a big bowel of olives. The food was delicious and the service was excellent!

Last night was my first visit. I came with a friend. We were given olives and bread as we sat down. Garlic bread was offered as we looked through the menu. We are both veggies and we easily found dishes to order. Our food was delicious and homemade. We enjoyed both main courses and dessert. We really enjoyed our evening. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff looked after us well. It was really great good at very low cost. A little gem of a restaurant.

We came, us, our two sons and one girlfriend, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We went for the set menu at £18 for 3 courses. Don’t know how they do it really. Food was delicious. Staff very attentive and chatty. We had a really lovely evening. Thankyou to all involved. We will be back soon 🙂

Yet again a very nice meal with friends in a great restaurant one of my favourites. So many meals to choose from on the set menu. The quality of food is first class and the prices are very good. would certainly recommend.

The food is fresh, well presented and delicious. Service is prompt and the staff attentive. Lovely ambience and excellent value for money.

I couldn't fault it and lunch time 3 courses was amazing for £15.95. Looking forward to next visit. Lovely staff too.

This place is such a gem, the service is excellent and the food is just as good. Best steak I have had in years. Very tender. Love the extra touch of fresh bread and olives ready on the table when you sit down, and mints after the main course. Will be returning very soon. Thankyou Topo Gigio!

Another first class meal yesterday. Apple pie is wow!

We regularly visit this amazing restaurant, have done for 15/20 years, ever since I was a kid and we moved to the area. I now take my child there and they are always so welcoming. Food is awesome, staff are brilliant, restaurant is immaculate and the prices are extremely low, especially the set menu. A proper Italian restaurant with cloth table cloths and napkins. Breadsticks, olives and fresh bread on table, plus a garlic bread toast served fresh upon arrival, all at no extra cost. Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

I really wanted to like this place. It's hugely popular and we'd heard good things. Sadly the food was just okay. The menu Is MASSIVE so I'm guessing the chefs are just spread to thin. I don't think we'll go again

We had a table booked for Valentines Day (14th Feb) Arrived for our 7.30pm booking, to find no tables available! The restaurant was full, and the story was, someone must have come in without booking!! There's a lot more I could say, but in essence we could not have been made to feel less welcome. Customer Service in dealing with the problem, was minimal. While we were hopefully waiting for a possible table (45 minutes), my wife was offered a seat by one of the customers, while I was left standing. In the end we left, and managed to find a restaurant in Ewell Village (Il Capriccio). Although busy we were given a table. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The meal was excellent. After what was a disastrous start, we had a lovely evening 😊

Family run Italian restaurant, good food good prices and generous portions, large menu to choose from been going for years on and off. Not many restaurants around like this anymore.march 2023, still good food but service charge!! Really. Don't think a 10% charge is on . Food this visit was ok but not as good as last time, busy lunch, rushed and main portions size of meat was smaller ( kitchen staff!) maybe. Ice cream dessert was shockingly small! Still good value but I dislike dishes and plates being cleared away too quickly. This is usually a bad habit in Italy not the UK. Bread and olives should be left on the table after the starters, not scurried away, apologies but I'm fussy, don't Italians eat bread with their main meal!? Might get back again but will be trying other local restaurants first and by the way we drove 70 miles to meet friends there. Ciao

Food and service were great! Definitely recommend booking, as they get really busy, especially on the weekend.

Good evening but very busy and as a table of 9 it took longer to serve us. The meals were lovely with the exception of the seabass that was still raw, an offer was made to put under grill but as it had been panfried that offer was not acceptable. Again probably due to how busy they were several of meals were luke warm and the veg served to our table was cold.

I don't want to give a review as I probably won't get a table next time. However, I have to say though you would have to go a long way to match this wonderful restaurant. It's got it all! Home cooking, excellent quality food, lovely...

Delicious meal on Valentines day and impressed that 3 courses and wine just £20 a head plus service. Absolutely Delicious food especially my spinach and ricotta pancakes starter. Husband had huge portion of melon and palma ham.

Decidedly average! Female member of waiting staff was aggressive in manner and later found out that that was the owner!!!! Prawn cocktail was tasteless and I have had better Lasagne from a supermarket not the authentic Italian meal I was expecting - would not return! The rest of my party had different dishes but the overall opinion appeared to be average

Have been to Topo Gigio several times before over a number of years, I found the food and service was good and the set price menu had good choice of all courses. Will be more than happy to return again soon.

I used to frequent a restaurant by the same name in Soho back in the 60s right up to the 80s. The very pleasant lady who served me explained that there was no connection between the two but told me a funny story about someone...

Good choices, and delicious food. great service and the coffee at the end was just perfect. highly recommend this place.
