My word! I don't often have fish and chips, maybe on a seaside holiday or nick a few chips off the kids, however, how I have never come to this takeaway before and in my opinion it blows 90% of the others out of the water. Friendly and accommodating staff, swift service and beautifully fresh, well cooked fish and for me, perfect chips. The cheeky little sausage in batter I added for a later snack was delicious too, batter still had a crunch not gone soggy. I will definitely be going again soon to try more delights, the smell of the curry sauce was almost intoxicating, what a gem on Fountain street, think the locals have been keeping this quiet! Bravo.

Visited on a very wet and stormy evening - only 2 people allowed in the shop due to Covid restrictions. However this didn't stop several people queuing outside for their tea! Had fish, chips and mushy peas. So delicious and the fish was massive. Couldn't fault the food. The staff were very polite and treated the food with great respect, placing the fish carefully in the container. Would definitly recommend.

My fish and chips were fried to order, so piping hot and very fresh. Delicious white flaky fish, fried in crispy bread crumbs (choice of batter or bread crumbs) and beautifully fried chips. I’ve recently moved to the area having owned my own chip shop for several years, so don’t say this lightly, but for me my meal was a 10 out of 10. I will definitely be back for more. Thank you 👍😀

Proper fish & chips, top quality too and get this... 2 large fish (1 battered & other breadcrumbed), 1 portion of chips and 1 portion of peas for £10.10. Lovely crispy batter and same with the chips ..all well cooked and with the minimum amount of oil residue. I can honestly say (and I've lived here all my life) that this is without doubt the best and cheapest chippy in Leek. My wife couldn't finish her meal so bonus as our dogs got the best leftovers ever.

We stop by Tony's as often as we can, as the food is good & it's the best chippy in Leek IMHO! It can be busy as is a small shop, but sometimes getting in early after they open saves a bit of time waiting. The lady & her son (I think?) are both very professional and friendly (even giving me a handful of fresh chips to snack on while waiting for my order!) and they are very efficient. If you're driving past (as we always are, as live 7 miles outside Leek) just note that it's located in the little side streets and so parking is pretty limited. They also have A-frame boards up on either end of the street so that you can't miss the turn from the main roads.

We found this lovely little chippie when visiting family in the next street. We were absolutely blown away by the quality of their food. A very clean environment and the food is always very well cooked; never greasy, proper chips, fresh fish - all treated with almost reverence when wrapped. Is it no wonder that we come back time and again!

Tried Tony's for the first time on Saturday. A very friendly welcome. The fish was freshly cooked to order - and was absolutely delicious! Crispy and not greasy at all. Also it was cod - which is so rare to get in chip shops these days. The chips were fluffy and crisp - still not soggy after being wrapped for 15 minutes on the journey. Really lovely people. We will be returning to this chip shop for sure. Thank you.

There are several great fish and chip shops in Leek, and most of them are top quality, but Tony’s is absolutely outstanding for quality and service. The fish are beautiful, cooked to perfection, and everything we ordered was wrapped and packed such care by the lovely lady behind the counter. We will definitely be returning very soon.

A traditional back street chippy of the kind you don't see so much these days. Friendly service and the usual range of offerings. Chips are reliably good but the cod is sliced thin and is somewhat tasteless. Could be so much better.

Looking for a chippy in Leek so turned to Tripadvisor. Had seen the A board for Tony's shop earlier in the day so made our way there.Very friendly greeting, fish cooked to order and we were included in the general conversation with others clients.Tony took great pains with the cooking, serving and wrapping of our Fish & Chips and then wished us a cheerful farewell as we left. They were excellent, good size portions and tasty fish.

From entering the shop you are greeted with a warm welcome and he remembers your previous conversations and seems genuinely interested in you whilst freshly preparing his battered fish and chips ..... quite often I find if you order a fish and chips at other chip shops you rarely completely eat everything as the flavours are a little bland , but HERE you will have no trouble eating the fresh fish in the crispy batter and the chips done to perfection ( he sometimes lets you test a chip before putting your order together so you could have them fried a little longer if you wanted) The chips are always cooked to perfection and Tony certainly knows his job in producing the 'Best fish and chips' !!!!

I had Steak and Kidney Pudding, Chips and Curry Sauce. Everything was piping hot. The chips were crisp on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside. The pudding was well steamed without being wet. The 'chip-shop' curry sauce was nice and thick with a good flavour. Friendly chap, good chat about cars while waiting for the chips to finish cooking. Will certainly go back and refer others.

This chip shop is a proper old fashioned chip shop. The food is mainly cooked to order and the fish is fresh, you can tell it's quality by the taste. Find it from the board on the main road A523. Note that they are not open Saturday nights, open again Tuesday to Saturday dinner. The owners are friendly and had never heard of trip advisor until I told them, they were thrilled. Best fish I have ever tasted

Hope this is the right place! Right area on map - Fountain Street. It is a takeaway located on a corner hidden off the main road in a housing and former silk mill area. A holiday meal. Owner is very proud of his establishment. Fresh scottish cod or haddock battered and fried right before your eyes. Good tasting potato's making good tasting chips. Fried in pure vegetable oil. Meal was excellent and cooked to perfection. Expertly wrapped.

Discovered by chance when looking for a lunch venue. I really enjoyed the soup and cheese scone and my partner was very impressed with the quiche. The china crockery is really lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately there are no longer any free-from offerings. It's such a shame as my family used to really enjoy cakes from here. Many successful eateries just don't label their products vegan or gluten-free and they sell really well. Those of us with dietary requirements will ask what's suitable for us anyway...offering one free-from GF option shouldn't be too hard in 2022.

We were staying over in Leek on a Sunday evening, wanting to sample some Staffordshire oatcakes the following morning, but the oatcake shop we wanted was closed on Monday! Poor planning. But luckily this place was open at 7.30 am and we found what we wanted here: oatcakes with various fillings such as bacon or tomato; all with cheese. If you've not tried them, Staffordshire oatcakes are very different to the Scottish biscuit that most people associate with 'oatcakes'. Here, they are a soft, flexible wrapper like a pancake, or perhaps a chapatti, made from a thin layer of a yeasted oatmeal/wheat batter griddled until it sets, then wrapped around your chosen filling. We took a pair of oatcakes with cheese and bacon, and a full English of 2 eggs, 2-3 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 toast, beans and tomatoes, plus extra hash browns. This was all in a takeaway tray - there is no table service here. It took about 10 minutes, which is fair enough as everything is cooked to order; but we were the only customers at that time. I imagine at busy times there could be quite a wait. The food was excellent, piping hot as you'd expect with it being cooked to order; and good value too, under £10 for the 2 breakfasts described above, though coffees added a bit more. Highly recommended.
