Tony's Fish and Chips in Sheffield

Best chippy. Cod is my choice of fish and it's the only place you know its cod. Proper fish cakes that contains fish you can recognize as fish. Been going to this chippy for decades and it's never changed thank God. Always remember to take cash and to check opening times because if it ain't open you end up with a fish and chip dinner that's not as satisfying. Just wish it was closer.

I cannot recommend this place enough. The food…. WOW! Best fish and chips I’ve ever had, absolutely incredible. My partner is a picky buggar and even he was blown away with how good the food was. The guys working were so friendly and chatty. The queue was out of the door but it was well worth the wait!! Highly, highly recommend!!

Having worked in retail previously it’s very important to make your customers feel welcome and appreciated (I know it’s not easy). Unfortunately as soon as my tenner was in the till that was all the worth I felt ‘nothing bad’ but I might as well not have been there. I’ve been many times before and it’s not always like that. But I’ve definitely witnessed it before and this time they’ve lost me as a customer. It may mean nothing to them, but my advice is make an effort to at least ‘act’ as though you care about every customer.

By the time we got home the fish batter was very soggy, and we don't live far. Quite a small fish for the price. We bought a large chips to share and it's far less than what you'd get from other chippies. They were alright, nothing to shout about. I highly doubt they were cooked in dripping as some reviewers have mentioned. Our sauces were also nothing special. Everything was comparatively quite expensive. So smaller portion sizes, mediocre quality and for a premium at that. Overall disappointing. I expected better considering the reputation they have. They're also cash only or in other words more than likely cooking their books. As someone who previously owned a small sandwich shop there is no excuse not to take card in this day and age - apart from so you can under-report your revenue and inconvenience your customers. Wouldn't go again.

Fabulous food perfect fish and chips

First time going to Tony’s but it was amazing. The fish was lovely, even the batter! Chips were really tasty and everything was fresh, definitely will be going again. :)

This chiipy used to be this best around, but they seem to have gone down-hill a little of late. Last three visits we found the cod and the cod in their fishcakes were quite tough and chewy. The food was also excessively greasy too. Shame ☹️

By far the best fish and chips I’ve ever had and that’s a big accolade considering I lived in Devon for three years the fish is absolutely delicious and although I’m not I’m not a fan of potatoes in any form I always eat every last one of the generous portion wel done Tony’s 👌

Is Tony’s chippy under new ownership? . Fish was pre cooked I believe on my previous visits the fish was cooked to order . Also no option of a large fish anymore?

Gutted is an understatement.used to be my fave place but the past couple of times including tonight have been so bad, the fish was over cooked to the point my kids even said it tasted burnt and one of the members of staff was very ignorant

I've never been here before, despite walking past for years, but it being cash only has meant that its been on the "I must remember to get cash out and go there". Finally did today and the food was delicious! I got 2 x fish and a large chips and that was more than enough for 2 of us. The staff were friendly and efficient. I'll definitely come back

Miserable staff. A smile and hello costs nothing. Even owner looked as miserable as sin. Sorry my custom is an inconvenience. Also no beans ! How long does it take to open a can ? I'll go elsewhere in future VERY PRICEY too. Rip off

I called in with my sister. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were polite and friendly. We had chips, cod and peas. The chips were soft, the batter on the fish was thin and crispy, well cooked. The peas were perfect. I'll be making a 7 mile drive in future from manor park to eat from here in future

Been coming here since the very early 80’s There’s not a chippy on this planet I enjoy more than this one. The dog loves it too, small battered sausage please 🐶 The only downside has to be parking and the que but it’s worth it in the end 👍🏻

We now live in Canada but whenever we return to the UK to visit family we always treat ourselves at Tony's. I called in last Friday and everything was as good as ever. Decided to try here on a recommendation but very disappointing, went 15 mins after they opened, the fish was all batter and was overcooked and just fell to bits and tasted really greasey, the mushy peas were very bland and tastless , the chips were ok , very expensive if I could have been bothered to drive all the way back I would have returned them but won't be returning here again

1st time using this chippy, the drive over from handsworth was well worth it, had some very disappointing f & c's lately, excellently cooked food, so nice to get what you expect, not what some think is decent food, will deffo use again even though its not in our area, keep up the standard can't go wrong, 👍

Just had the worst fish ever. Have lived in the area for almost 5years, always thought they were the best but not last night. Had fish and chips twice, the fish was very hard as though it had been fried a couple of times, went straight into the bin. Maybe time to shop around. Very disappointing.

Oh was my first visit. Counting till I can go back. Took me right back to my school days. Moved from Yorkshire to Cheshire.. Not the same. So friends took me. I wasn't disappointed. STAFF Were so helpful n polite too 🦋. Wish I lived closer

Just had the worst fish and chips ever! Asked for middle fish Which I was assured was by Barrack Obama lookalike behind the fryer. Flat tail end fish is what I recieved with little to no fish inside. The chips were all soft and broken up and as for the Peas! And I use that term very loosely, they had been watered down to nothing. What a complete waste of £20. Never again will I or any family member buy from this Disgusting establishment.

Fantastic service today, i went back to mosborough to visit my nan n grandads resting place and whilst there i visited many places i spent my childhood. Lots of fond memories. Tonys fish n chip shop was our little treat when we visited nan n grandad so today i had to go and relive it. The gentlemen running the shop was lovely, polite, chatty and welcoming. When we got there it was cash only so i asked him where the nearest cash point was and he was very helpful. He even asked for my order to have it ready for my return too. The food was so tasty and the young lady serving was courteous and polite too. I will return again soon x ps im not a regular customer but was treated like a valued customer non the less.
