Nice pub and service but let down by the food ordered three roast meals . Nothing special and pork was very disappointing there was more fat on it than meat .

We went on a Saturday and had dinner. I had the gammon. The eggs weren’t good. The onion rings were in a batter which was very fatty/greasy. The chips and gammon were tasty. I had jam roly poly for dessert. This had been warmed up for too long which made some parts of it hard and dried up. Really nice pub. Portion sizes were large.

Estuvimos en el pub durante mucho tiempo (! ), mucho de qué hablar y probablemente la última vez que veremos a nuestra familia Melbourne en el Reino Unido. La comida era excelente, un montón de ella y muy sabrosa. El pub tiene un muy buen chef! Nuestra camarera era muy bueno también, nada era demasiado problema, simplemente amable y servicial - justo lo que necesita tanto como jefe y como cliente. Fue un almuerzo encantador y nostálgico para todos nosotros

Great staff, even better food...

Nice to go into a pub mid week and find it pretty full of poeple. Food was really nice and plenty of it. Also provided blankets so the Dog could sit with us on the bench seating. Service was friendly and unrushed and just generally felt very happy to be there

5 for Sunday lunch last week . Arrived earlier than booked . Seated with no problem. Had some one with us with special needs . The kitchen went out of their way to cater for him . Even bought in something that wasn't on the menu . How kind . Food was lovely, meat tender. Veg not over cooked or raw ...just perfect. Generous portions . HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. THANK YOU

Brilliant three course meal I had the pie my partner had the chicken in mustard sauce and her son had the roast beef can't recommend enough .

Friendly welcome and amazing food. We called in for lunch with friends and we all enjoyed our choices. The sausage and mash was served with a selection of vegetables and very tasty. Two of us had baguettes served with home made chips and coleslaw, delicious with a generous filling of home cooked ham. The other meal was nachos from the starter menu so large enough to share, again delicious. We’ll definitely recommend and will call again.

Booked for my partners birthday and they didn't disappoint. Food was excellent service and staff brilliant everyone had a fantastic time thank you guys so much

Ordered kids sausage and chips for my 2 year old and sausages were cremated and rock hard. Absolutely inedible. I ordered the Jamaican chicken and the rice was microwave packet stuff chicken was drier than the Sahara. My partner had the scampi the chips were okay but the scampi were either soggy or overdone they were done in two batches... Which is funny as they initially brought out a kids scampi then returned with the adults portion... She said the jam Roly poly was awful.. I didn't want to try it but it looked nice... Probably my worst food experience in a long time.

Not had one bad meal all exceptional

Very disappointed ..... we booked for the Valentines evening special as we were attracted by the fabulous menu and at such good value, however the food didn't live up to the expectation of the menu unfortunately. The prawn starter wasn't nice at all - bland and tasteless. The salmon was so over cooked that a 1/3rd was inedible because it was burnt and dry. The steak was very fatty. All the meals including the veg had clearly been blasted in the microwave because they were volcanic temperatures and the delicious sounding deserts were very much like the prawn starter - it was all very disappointing and very average. They did make lovely chips and the staff were friendly and attentive. A few signs of Valentines on the tables - ie red hearts, dimmed lighting would have made the place more atmospheric - it was all very run of the mill tea in a pub, not a Valentines evening with love in the air.

Once again the food was outstanding we can't recommend this place enough definitely our favourite place for food. We had the 2 course menu and it was delicious well done you guys

Popped in last night on a whim and I'm so glad we did. Me and the Mrs both had the pork loin joint and it was outstanding. The service was fantastic and overall I thought it was good value for money given the quality of the food and the huge portion sizes. Will definitely be returning again soon.

Lovely food decor awaits update

Never visited before but thought we’d give it a try. Table booked for 6 people at 6pm, pub was surprisingly quiet, which was great because one of the party is very hard of hearing and lots of background noise is a problem. The service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing. Lovely choice of dishes on the menu, with main courses reasonably priced at £13.95 - £19.95 (there is also a special 2 courses for £12.95 menu earlier in the day, but we were too late for this). I had an 8 oz sirloin at £19.95, while others had the lamb shank, the chicken forestiere, beef lasagne, and the 10 oz gammon. All enjoyed the food and cleared their plates, but unfortunately we were too full to sample the desserts (maybe we’ll do this on the next visit). The meals were excellent, tasty, well cooked, generous portions, and the home cut chips were some of the best I’ve had (much better than the bland chips in chain restaurants/pubs), and the side vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots) were cooked from fresh (not frozen). Great beer on tap, a lovely session pale ale, and a very tasty porter, as well as the more usual range of beers, lagers, and ciders. Overall, great value, good service, and a venue I would definitely recommend, and will return to.

Staff and food were excellent.. Had a lovely time. The staff were really kind to our dog too. Muminlaw couldn't finish her potatoes so the chef wrapped rhem up in foil in the shape of a Swan to take home

I called in to meet a former work colleague for a drink and a meal. The Miners' is a nice little pub, in a friendly locality. The staff were really friendly, helpful and efficient and the food was good at a very reasonable price. We will definitely return, even though neither of us lives in the immediate area. Thank you for providing us with an enjoyable tea time.

First time I've visited but it was on recommendation of friends. Great staff and service. My friend enjoyed all her 3 courses, I enjoyed my first, second was OK but I've cooked better myself and desert was rubbery think it had been microwave to heat up. Think I just picked the wrong main and desert. Will try something next time. Good value decent portions.

Dropped in here for lunch. Not disappointed. First the beer. 3 local cask ales, excellently kept. Amazingly £2.50 a pint. Varied menu with lunch time deals. Food freshly prepared and cooked. Large bowl of tasty tom and basil soup. Nice tender steak pie with fresh veg. Then a lemon meringue cheesecake dessert. Hard to find fault. Well worth the visit.

Had Sunday lunch here today, 24th September. The portions are huge, and very tasty. Staff very attentive and service quick. Have to say we have been here before and the meals then were just as good as they were today.

I would definitely recommend the Miners Arms for a meal. There is a good menu, with plenty of choice. All the food was freshly cooked and homemade. The quality was excellent and portion size very generous. The staff were so very friendly.

Been here a few times and was always very happy with the staff and the service and the quality of food UNTIL yesterday 3rd August 2023 half way through our meal I found a very long white hair in my curry. The restaurant was very full so we called over the server so we could discreetly notify her of the problem. She apologised and said she would pass it on took away our plates then returned saying would you like a desert as a way of an apology ??? then said well we can take the price of 1 drink of the total outstanding. I don't know how I didn't stand up and shout just watch out for any extras in your meals to the rest of the diners Totally disgusted paid the bill and left we wont be eating here again or our friends Thank you but no Thank you

Came for a late Father’s Day gift , we all ordered the 2 course deal. Food was scolding hot and tasteless , it took myself 45 minutes to eat my soup due to the temperature . We received a nice welcome in fairness but yes if you came like us because of the good food reviews you will likely be disappointed as all our courses were unpleasant

Went today after reading all the good reviews and although the welcome and service was good the food sadly wasn’t. Portions were plenty but very bland food and desserts were especially poor. Wouldn’t recommend.

Brilliant little pub, got that old school feel to it, the staff are lovely and the pints are fantastic, not many pubs like this around anymore 👌

We (5) went for a meal 29 April.1 haddock &chips very little fish 2steak very thin and fatty, 3 steak and ale pie I was sick when I got home,4 prawns were frozen not fresh,5 potatoes were black so sent back and charged for 2drinks we did not have

Went for the 1st time in a good few years It was very busy but managed to get a table. We were advised there was a 30 minute wait for food but opted to stay we got a drink and ordered from the 2 courses for 12.50 each. We chose main and dessert. I had the roast of the day and my friend had chicken in a mustard sauce. Vegetables for mine served separately. Both our meals were piping hot, generous portions and so tasty our desserts were Pavlova and lemon cheesecake both amazing. I would recommend this friendly pub to anyone and will be back soon. .

I enjoyed my afternoon at The Miners Arms. The staff were really lovely. The food looked and smelled amazing, gutted I didn't try any of the food. Maybe next time.

Went for a meal based on previous reviews. So disappointed especially with the service. Food was huge portions but so not balanced! Overfaced by the huge lump of meat on my plate and soggy crackling. This was sat on a tiny bit of lumpy mash. Sat waiting for plates to be cleared for half an hour whilst other tables were cleared around us. Young waitress was lovely but, however can't say the same for the other one there (possibly landlady which makes it worse). Before the cynical side amongst you say it was my attitude, I can assure you I am never one to make a fuss and there was no atmosphere or attitude from myself or my husband. We just paid and left and left the waitress a tip as there was no fault there. So disappointed.

Had an amazing meal at the Miners Arms yesterday. Service was brilliant and food fantastic. We pre-ordered our main meals and they arrived within five minutes of everyone arriving. Will definitely return.

Visited after a few years away food not too bad Staff quite helpful. I reckon they could put a bit of heating on as it was quite cold.

Took my 95 year old dad for lunch. Had fabulous meals with excellent service. The visit was part of a trip for dad to reminisce as he used to work in the area of The Miners Arms. Coincidently he met someone who he knew and had a wonderful time chatting about old times. The young couple hosting on Saturday 4th February were really lovely and extremely hospitable. Will certainly visit this quaint old pub for the atmosphere, great food and hospitality.

Lovely meal here today. All homemade and freshly cooked with proper veg! A nice varied menu, plenty of choice. This place deserves to be supported, highly recommended!

Wednesday 4th January 2023. Having heard rave reports about the food here, six of us booked for 12 noon today. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!! The food was DELICIOUS!!!! They even have a gluten free home made steak pie!!!! (An absolute delight for those of us who can't usually partake in any pie). I totally recommend the food. The pub itself has many things of interest....particularly the rolls of honour from the 1st World War and tank factory. Thank you Miners Arms. We'll be seeing you again, soon.
