No Name Bistro in Sheffield

We go to No Name a couple of times a year. The best restaurant in Sheffield in terms of food and atmosphere. It’s rare you get such a combination of relaxed, casual service and incredible food. We’ll continue to go every few months for the foreseeable future, always a brilliant experience.

Having recently moved into the area we were excited to finally be able to get a table and you can see why there is a good waiting list! Wow! The bread is out of this world and that’s before we even decided on a starter! I ordered the beef cheek main that melted in the mouth and my partner had the risotto which was equally as delicious. We shared a honeycomb dessert and wish we could have ordered them all they all sounded delicious. We had the table booked for a few months and it was definitely worth the wait. The lady serving was so nice and informative and we can’t wait to go back! A good little tip would be to buy any accompanying wine from the wine shop a few doors down as they’ll pair a bottle or two for you. Thank you!

Amazing place, after having visited NoName on several occasions the food somehow is getting better. The staff are brilliant and make you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. An absolute gem 💎 And if you’re undecided on what pudding to get my advice is to always get both, you will thank me! 11/10

Disappointed in this place. They take £10 per person deposit, which I understand, but our toddler got ill the evening we were supposed to go, so we just couldn’t make it. We called in advance, were very apologetic, and asked if we could reschedule. The person we spoke to couldn’t care less. They kept our deposit and didn’t seem bothered in the slightest whether we booked again. Shame, as we moved recently into the neighbourhood and love this sort of food, so might have gone all the time, but this attitude completely put us off.

A fantastic experience all round! What I enjoyed most about No Name is the attention to detail to flavour to even the most simple ingredients. The flavours of the cream cheese as part of my starter and the side of potatoes with the main were outstanding. I had cheesecake for dessert which came with a rhubarb jelly! As creative as it was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient and the stylish, intimate atmosphere make this bistro one of the highlights of Crookes. Highly recommended.

Just a super experience, with a Chef who clearly not only k ows his craft, but tastes his food. Simply superb.

Had a gorgeous evening at No Name. We had a range of dishes on the table and they were all excellent, attention to detail in each dish. Fish especially was cooked to perfection. High quality food, fresh ingredients, good portion size. Cosy atmosphere. Loved it!

Spectacular food at a great price. If you get a chance to do the taster menu then take it with both hands. I would die for that french onion soup.

Everything was really good. Only one thing I was a little bit disappointed because the sauce of the ham hock and the veggie main (savoury croissant) were using the same sauce, I feel like the saltiness has got extended which I couldn’t really enjoy it at the end, I would rather order the fish main instead if I can choose again. My partner order the slow cooker beef and it was really good. Make sure you bring cash with you, we didn’t know it was cash only until we got there, I’m one of those people never take my cards out when Apple Pay can be used everything, it was a mess, at the end we managed to get some cash to pay.

First time here, and most definitely not the last. Between the 4 of us I think we had 7 different dishes, and without exception, everyone thought the food was exceptional. There’s not much more to say, if you’ve not been you are missing out.

The food is delicious, the atmosphere very relaxed and service spot on. I've been a few times, and it never disappoints.

The food was excellent quality. I think the only thing letting it down slightly is the service. It felt a bit rushed. We were asked for our food order very quickly upon entering the restaurant, so quickly infact that we'd not had chance to look at the menu. And then our mains came out at different times and there was no communication to say that my dish would be coming out soon. With my main meal, the server said 'seabass' when I said yes, they plonked a bowl of new potatoes down... and then I had to wait a little time for the actual Seabass. My partner already had his dish. The olives were taken from our table without asking if we'd finished with them. It was only one person serving the tables so I can appreciate they are busy. I think the service needs a bit of improvement to match the standard of the food they are serving. The food is very good however and I'd recommend everyone trying it.

Absolutely fabulous food (quality, choice, presentation - all top notch) . Quirky small venue, lovingly decorated. somewhat spoilt by disinterested waiting staff - with no attempt at engagement, at customer experience or in our feedback) very disappointing. Such a gulf between the apathy of Front of House vs superb kitchen team.

I'd heard such good reviews about 'No Name' and had to give it a try. I went with the idea I was going to be disappointed because my expectations were so high. WRONG!! It really is everything they say and more. The food was outstanding, as was the service. Infact, I'd be so bold as to quote our conversation after the evening. 'Probably the best meal we have had, EVER! We will definitely be going back 🍽🍷😉

One of my favourite places to eat, the food is always amazing each time we go. Photos from multiple meals here! We always book here for a celebration. One tiny side note: we recently were booked in for the earlier sitting and because the food took a little while we had to leave without the chance to order coffees and the dessert as the next table had arrived. Was a bit of a shame to be hurried out.

We dined last Saturday evening as a family of four. An interesting although limited menu (not a bad thing in my opinion). The food was interesting and the portions generous. We all had cured salmon with a yoghurt mint dressing. This was light and fresh and nicely presented. Our main course was a confit of duck with a potato rosti. For dessert I chose the deconstructed cheesecake with a strawberry and basil dressing. This for me was the highlight of the meal. It was fresh and seasonal with interesting flavour combinations. The others chose the chocolate dessert which to be honest they found a little too rich although they said it tasted ok. Having dined at the Savoy the two days previously I have to say we enjoyed this meal far more.

(Normally cannot be bothered to leave reviews but they definately deserve massive credit, it must be really really hard running that business, but the passion really showed). recommend anyone to go.

Fantastic food, great service, amazing decor, bring your own wine (£2 corkage) parking on street directly outside. MUST book as this is a small restaurant and has an ever growing number of people who LOVE it..... The menu changes regularly to take advantage of the best seasonal ingredients. Always nice to turn up and not be absolutely certain what wonderful food will be on the menu!!! I had the Seabass and the seafood sauce was amazing!!! Every course was delicious. We were lucky enough to visit this excellent little restaurant on a snowy Wednesday evening. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who took our coats and promptly showed us to our prebooked table. It is absolutely essential to book. This place is popular and even at the beginning of March a booking for Saturday evening was not available until the end of MAY. The menu is not printed because the menu is regularly changed to use seasonal ingredients and local products. We were lucky to go when the menu had recently changed. It took advantage of several different ingredients which we were happy to try. We started with delicious warm bread and oils. Then I opted for the Jerusalem artichokes served with whipped goat cheese as starter. The artichokes were warm and the crunch from nuts delicious. For main I chose the Seabass with new potatoes, and an exquisite seafood sauce. The sauce was the best I have had since last visiting France. My companion had the vegetarian option which was cheese bread and butter pudding and mushrooms. Which I was lucky enough to try and again was delicious. For dessert we opted for two choices the chocolate and mint mousse with honeycomb and secondly, Yorkshire rhubarb crumble with coconut ice-cream. They were both scrumptious and I can't pick my favourite. Alcohol is ' bring your own' and corkage is minimal. The service is excellent. The restaurant itself is just one room with a maximum of 30 people. The walls are covered with an eclectic mix of articles and items. The toilet is equally impressive with dark parrot covered wallpaper and various bright parrot statues displayed. The one niggle is its " cash only" and I was obliged to visit the nearby cash machine which is only two or three properties down the row of shops. I mention this, more as a warning to come prepared and it was barely worth the mention. This wasn't the cheapest night out I've had recently but it was without doubt the best food and I shan't hesitate to go again. I thoroughly recommend you to try...... IF YOU CAN GET IN !!!

We went to No Name for the first time last night as a family of 7. Cannot fault anything. The food was exceptional and our waitress was lovely and very informative. The added bonus of BYO too. No wonder it’s so difficult to get a table. We will definitely return!

Been a few times now, every time has been wonderful.

Whilst we enjoyed the food we had to wait over 45 minutes for our delicious dessert until all the other tables had received their main courses. I also found the corkage fee unusual as it was per person not per bottle, £8 for 4 people, not acceptable!!

Great food, service was a little amature

The restaurant was so cold that I had to sit in my winter jacket the entire time while we're there. There are no menus. The menu is scribbled on the board. The service was very slow (took at least ah hour to get main courses yet there aren't many tables in the restaurant) There's only choice of 3 starters and 4 main courses. Didn't look at pudding section but it couldn't have been more choice for that either. Very basic interior with minimal space between tables. They accept cash only!?! A small piece of fried cod with two small boiled potatoes, a small chargrilled gem lettuce and a sauce cost £23!?! A portion of small black olives that looked like they are from a supermarket jar cost £4. The food was nice (once we got it) but the price should also reflect the ambiance and service, not just the food. So I'm afraid but I think this is too expensive for what it actually offers.

First time visiting here last night to celebrate my birthday and i’m already booking myself in for another meal here soon. One of the nicest meals i’ve had. Fantastic flavours and reasonable prices

I went with my friend last night for the first time after hearing good things from others who had been. It's quite a small room but very welcoming and the menu is written on the blackboard. Started with fresh warm bread with a delicious dip. For starters we both had salmon, absolutely the tastiest salmon I've ever eaten! Braised beef with bread and butter pudding for main, it was sublime! My friend had duck which she said was very nice. Sticky toffee parfait for dessert, again wonderful. The waitress was lovely and the bill was £93 for 2 including £4 for the opening of the wine (it's bring your own) and a £4 tea. Overall good value for money as the quality of the food is ex excellent. It's cash only which we hadn't known but there is a cash machine nearby. I hope to go back soon.

Have come here for my first and second anniversary meals with my girlfriend. Some of the best food I've had both times, great service and a lovely overall vibe. Would thoroughly recommend if you're looking for fine dining in a relaxed, unpretentious environment.

This was our third time visiting No Name and it was as brilliant as ever. Fantastic service, calm and relaxing atmosphere and the food was sensational. It was an amazing menu and made it really hard to chose! We will always want to return to No Name, can’t recommend it enough!

Very good food in a great little venue. A good atmosphere and friendly service. Very generous portions with much more happening on the plate than described on the board! Highly recommend the pork belly.

Outstanding food disappointing service. The food was great however, after noting on my booking that my wife was pescatarian she was served meat as part of her meal, this was not mentioned on the menu, and it was not obvious until you ate some of it. Received little more than “sorry it wasn’t on my notes”. Started to doubt myself that I hadn’t mentioned it but checked my booking and I had. What a shame, could have been great.

Given a gift voucher for this restaurant. Travelled from near Scunthorpe with our bottle of wine. This is a very small restaurant and maybe was a little too “cosy” with tables being very close together. The food was excellent. I had lamb shoulder with cheddar bread & butter pudding, red wine sauce and mint - just superb.

Second visit here and fully enjoyed. Never disappoints on quality ingredients, fresh, delicious flavours brought together with a rear flair and originality. Book 3 months in advance as popular and only intimate venue.

Amazing food, great service…book well in advance, you won’t be disappointed

The food was good, but not good enough to carry the poor service. No atmosphere. BYOB but no ice bucket, so you'll have to make do with warm white wine and beer with your dinner. If you haven't brought your own you won't be offered a soft drink and when you get a chance to ask for one it will be flat and warm. They got 2 out of 4 orders wrong. Reaching over people trying to eat to clear people's plates despite other people still eating. Would not go again and certainly would not wait months to go.

We have just been for a meal this evening and wow what can I say, amazing. Beautiful combination of flavours and the pudding (blondie) was just another level. Would highly recommend 👌.

We went to No Name for our anniversary meal and were not disappointed. The food was exquisite, by far the best meal we've had in Sheffield. We joked that we felt like we were in an episode of MasterChef. The restaurant is only small with 20 covers however that works wonderfully to ensure there is an atmosphere without it feeling overwhelming or noisy. We cannot wait for another excuse to treat ourselves!

Good cooking, nice place. I know it's a small thing but noname needs to be able to take cards and to have a drinks license. Even stocking some sparkling water or no alcohol beer would be good otherwise eating there involves a series of errands first.

The food was very tasty and well presented. It was perfect for our celebration as we were the only ones in the restaurant. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Nice atmosphere.

Just had the most fabulous meal tonight. From the home made bread to the melt in the mouth cod with truffle. This is a small intimate place to eat and BYO booze. Musics good and staff are all so polite and helpful. Had a lovely chat with the chef who is working extremely hard to bring this dining experience to you. Portion size is more than ample. Can’t wait to return next time we are up from the midlands. Can’t praise this highly enough.

For the first year or so of opening it was impossible to get a table here, We finally managed it and I was looking forward to see if it lived up to the hype. I went in with super high expectations. The food was lovley and you could tell the quality of the produce. It was quite traditional British bistro style food so if that floats your boat you will love it here and we would reccomend it. For me , It was missing a spark of excitement and I was left feeling it was great quality but nothing I hadn't had before. I always say I'm not a huge fan of classic British cooking however so this is a matter of my personal taste. My faves were the bread and cream cheese , and the chocolate mousse dessert. Both very good. Service was a little odd, we were shooed back out the restaurant into the street on arrival as we were 5 mins early (although I can appreciate there's not much room to set up in there). Service felt quite fast and plates were cleared before everyone was finished. And again, we felt a little rushed and were hurried to leave at the end end of the night. But it was a late booking so understandable to some extent. Overall great quality food which has been cooked with care, but quite traditional which I didn't find overly exciting, not a negative comment towards no name, just personal taste. If traditional British flavours are your bag you will love it.

Another amazing evening at No Name. My partner and I ate here for our first date, and tonight was just as good as the first time we visited. The flavours, presentation and atmosphere were all excellent. Save room for all three courses - you won't regret it. Thanks to Tom and his friendly staff. Keep up the good work!

Came for the Taster menu - would highly recommend. Excellent experience, really loved that chef came and explained every course and the atmosphere was perfect. Desserts were a personal highlight for us. Each dish was interesting and excellently presented. Thank you very much!!

This has to be one of the best restaurant meals I've ever had! Hats off to the chefs for amazing flavours & good portion sizes. Bring your own saves paying for overpriced wine. Highly recommended. Looking forward to a return visit.

Absolutely brilliant meal. Seasonal and creative dishes cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. From the bread to the dessert, everything was exceptional (I had the posset which was amazing). Great service in a relaxed, informal environment. Cant wait to visit again, even if it means cycling up that hill!

Dissapointing for the cost. I'd have thought a price of £15pp would be more fitting for what you recieve. The starter was enjoyable, however I found the main course quite bland. The desert was enjoyable but rather small.

We’d been waiting to eat at No Name for ages - lots of friends have recommended it - and finally made it. It’s small, popular, is only open a few days a week and isn’t that easy to book: we finally did so via Messenger....

Mackerel starter, belly pork main and salted caramel desert, quality ingredients cooked well, excellent
