I was really looking forward to going. I'd heard the great reviews and friends rated the restaurant. Lighting is quite bright and the floor needs a better finish. (Napkins are tiny!) Starters came but not my spoon for my soup so it was lukewarm by the time I got to it. My main course was too salty and the single carrot was undercooked. Dessert was also disappointing, as it was basically ice cream and chocolate sauce when it had been described as a mousse. However my dinner guest enjoyed his terrine (though no bread was offered and had to be asked for), his beef and dessert. £4 was deducted for my disappointment. I'll give it another go sometime.

When you ask for the definition of a hidden gem, this is it. The fact that you have to book weeks even months in advance on some occasions says it all really. The food is amazing on all levels and well cooked. Offering many options and varieties of dishes accomadating all sorts of dietery requirements. My friend and I, who is coeliac, have been here on several occasions and each time they have had as equal choice of food as I, without the worry of cross contamination. The staff are always friendly, hardworking and accomodating especially in a small, bustling environment it can be when it is busy. My personal reccomendations would be the Lamb or duck (i can't remember which one i had though i know they are both delicious) as it was tremendous. Perfectly cooked and tender with gorgeous onion garnish on top sided with a pee puree, and for someone who isn't the greatest fan of peas this was amazing. For pudding the chocolate mousse with honeycomb garnish was spectacular and i would happily eat that until i passed out from a sugar overdose, it was that good. Both dishes mentioned here are pictured. As for the alcohol it is reasonably priced as standard offering a wide range of red and white wines though i'm unsure of the beer options. Two pointers of future considerations here, i haven't been in a while but i think i'm right in remebering there is only one toilet for around 8 tables so there can be a wait sometimes often getting in peoples way. The restaurant itself is quite small often having to squeeze past people but this could be a good thing as it keeps the small, bustling environment alive and its authenticity as a local independant restaurant. Would definitley reccomend to someone and I shall be back again in the near future. 9/10

3a visita anoche.

This was one of the best meals I've had for a very, very long time. It's a cosy, intimate bistro setting and the chef/owner Tom changes the menu daily based on the fresh food available from local markets and suppliers. Everything was 10/10 delicious, especially the pork belly and market fish. Managed to make room for a homemade dessert at the end and I'm very glad that I did. Lovely service from Laura too, and an all-round great evening. I can't wait to return when I'm next in Sheffield.

Small independent with fantastic food quality and service. It’s cash only and bring your own drink (with very reasonable corkage) but that is very clear on booking. The menu gives good spread of options for a kitchen of this size, but when the food lands it’s top notch. Had the slow cooked lamb which was succulent with depth of flavour and the jus had beautiful flavours and mirror sheen. Would highly recommend.

The food was good but the customer service and ambience left a lot to be desired. It was a Saturday night and we had been bumped off our 8.30 booking because they had a private party at 8.30 but the booking system had allowed me to book for the same time. We were offered a 6.30 table which was far from ideal for us but we decided to take it . The seating area is tiny and very cramped. This made it very noisy and not easy to have a conversation with the person sitting opposite me. One of my friends and I were both going to choose blade of beef with cheese and marmite pudding, but we were told that the pudding was not available and it would be served with potato rosti instead. That was acceptable but then we were told that there was only one portion of rosti left but they could offer cheese gnocchi with the beef instead. That didn’t sound particularly appealing so we changed our order, though none too happily. Immediately we had finished our dessert we were asked if we would like our bill. We asked about coffee and were told that we could have coffee if we could drink it in 10 minutes. All of this meant that a long awaited meal out with friends was not as enjoyable an experience as we had hoped. We will not be going back.

Booked for belated valentines. Atmosphere is nice and staff are pleasant, could maybe do with explaining the menus and recommendations on arrival (we didn't ask in fairness). We had the starters of goats cheese with dukka and the ham hock croquette with cheese sauce both tasted great but the ham hock was my favorite. Mains we had the beef cheek and the seabass. The wife liked the beef cheek but thought the rosti was a little over, I thought the seabass was nice and fresh however the skin wasn't crispy and it lacked a little acidity. For dessert we had the basque chocolate cheesecake which was lovely and very rich we both thought that it needed some fruit or something to break that richness. Overall a good experience but possibly it felt like it might be down to what is on the menu on the night you go that would lead the reviews. We based our review against our time at Bench and both agreed that Bench just pipped it. Overall experience was good and we would consider going back to see if anything is different.

Having recently moved into the area we were excited to finally be able to get a table and you can see why there is a good waiting list! Wow! The bread is out of this world and that’s before we even decided on a starter! I ordered the beef cheek main that melted in the mouth and my partner had the risotto which was equally as delicious. We shared a honeycomb dessert and wish we could have ordered them all they all sounded delicious. We had the table booked for a few months and it was definitely worth the wait. The lady serving was so nice and informative and we can’t wait to go back! A good little tip would be to buy any accompanying wine from the wine shop a few doors down as they’ll pair a bottle or two for you. Thank you!

Disappointed in this place. They take £10 per person deposit, which I understand, but our toddler got ill the evening we were supposed to go, so we just couldn’t make it. We called in advance, were very apologetic, and asked if we could reschedule. The person we spoke to couldn’t care less. They kept our deposit and didn’t seem bothered in the slightest whether we booked again. Shame, as we moved recently into the neighbourhood and love this sort of food, so might have gone all the time, but this attitude completely put us off.

Everything was really good. Only one thing I was a little bit disappointed because the sauce of the ham hock and the veggie main (savoury croissant) were using the same sauce, I feel like the saltiness has got extended which I couldn’t really enjoy it at the end, I would rather order the fish main instead if I can choose again. My partner order the slow cooker beef and it was really good. Make sure you bring cash with you, we didn’t know it was cash only until we got there, I’m one of those people never take my cards out when Apple Pay can be used everything, it was a mess, at the end we managed to get some cash to pay.

The food was excellent quality. I think the only thing letting it down slightly is the service. It felt a bit rushed. We were asked for our food order very quickly upon entering the restaurant, so quickly infact that we'd not had chance to look at the menu. And then our mains came out at different times and there was no communication to say that my dish would be coming out soon. With my main meal, the server said 'seabass' when I said yes, they plonked a bowl of new potatoes down... and then I had to wait a little time for the actual Seabass. My partner already had his dish. The olives were taken from our table without asking if we'd finished with them. It was only one person serving the tables so I can appreciate they are busy. I think the service needs a bit of improvement to match the standard of the food they are serving. The food is very good however and I'd recommend everyone trying it.

We dined last Saturday evening as a family of four. An interesting although limited menu (not a bad thing in my opinion). The food was interesting and the portions generous. We all had cured salmon with a yoghurt mint dressing. This was light and fresh and nicely presented. Our main course was a confit of duck with a potato rosti. For dessert I chose the deconstructed cheesecake with a strawberry and basil dressing. This for me was the highlight of the meal. It was fresh and seasonal with interesting flavour combinations. The others chose the chocolate dessert which to be honest they found a little too rich although they said it tasted ok. Having dined at the Savoy the two days previously I have to say we enjoyed this meal far more.

We were lucky enough to visit this excellent little restaurant on a snowy Wednesday evening. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who took our coats and promptly showed us to our prebooked table. It is absolutely essential to book. This place is popular and even at the beginning of March a booking for Saturday evening was not available until the end of MAY. The menu is not printed because the menu is regularly changed to use seasonal ingredients and local products. We were lucky to go when the menu had recently changed. It took advantage of several different ingredients which we were happy to try. We started with delicious warm bread and oils. Then I opted for the Jerusalem artichokes served with whipped goat cheese as starter. The artichokes were warm and the crunch from nuts delicious. For main I chose the Seabass with new potatoes, and an exquisite seafood sauce. The sauce was the best I have had since last visiting France. My companion had the vegetarian option which was cheese bread and butter pudding and mushrooms. Which I was lucky enough to try and again was delicious. For dessert we opted for two choices the chocolate and mint mousse with honeycomb and secondly, Yorkshire rhubarb crumble with coconut ice-cream. They were both scrumptious and I can't pick my favourite. Alcohol is ' bring your own' and corkage is minimal. The service is excellent. The restaurant itself is just one room with a maximum of 30 people. The walls are covered with an eclectic mix of articles and items. The toilet is equally impressive with dark parrot covered wallpaper and various bright parrot statues displayed. The one niggle is its " cash only" and I was obliged to visit the nearby cash machine which is only two or three properties down the row of shops. I mention this, more as a warning to come prepared and it was barely worth the mention. This wasn't the cheapest night out I've had recently but it was without doubt the best food and I shan't hesitate to go again. I thoroughly recommend you to try...... IF YOU CAN GET IN !!!

The restaurant was so cold that I had to sit in my winter jacket the entire time while we're there. There are no menus. The menu is scribbled on the board. The service was very slow (took at least ah hour to get main courses yet there aren't many tables in the restaurant) There's only choice of 3 starters and 4 main courses. Didn't look at pudding section but it couldn't have been more choice for that either. Very basic interior with minimal space between tables. They accept cash only!?! A small piece of fried cod with two small boiled potatoes, a small chargrilled gem lettuce and a sauce cost £23!?! A portion of small black olives that looked like they are from a supermarket jar cost £4. The food was nice (once we got it) but the price should also reflect the ambiance and service, not just the food. So I'm afraid but I think this is too expensive for what it actually offers.

Fantastic meal and atmosphere, one of the best meals I've had in Sheffield. What a spot, having sampled the menu with a finish at home meal during lockdown, this was the first time we had dined in. We'd rebooked before the mains arrived. Yes, it's a small spot but you still do have your space. As they point out on the website, arrive bang on your reservation time or you may have to wait outside (maybe pop into Two Shed for a cheeky half?). Yes, it's BYOB and yes, cash only, but all of this is explained on the website and if all of that's too much of an inconvenience, great, it'll keep the reservations list that little bit clearer for those of us more than happy to plan ahead. There are ATMs and off licenses within a few minutes walk if you are caught on the hop. Great, traditional food, cooked beautifully and with care. Staff were great, friendly and helpful. We even got an apology as the mains were a little delayed, but this came before we'd even noticed. Can't wait to go back. Well done Tom and team.

Just had the most fabulous meal tonight. From the home made bread to the melt in the mouth cod with truffle. This is a small intimate place to eat and BYO booze. Musics good and staff are all so polite and helpful. Had a lovely chat with the chef who is working extremely hard to bring this dining experience to you. Portion size is more than ample. Can’t wait to return next time we are up from the midlands. Can’t praise this highly enough.

For the first year or so of opening it was impossible to get a table here, We finally managed it and I was looking forward to see if it lived up to the hype. I went in with super high expectations. The food was lovley and you could tell the quality of the produce. It was quite traditional British bistro style food so if that floats your boat you will love it here and we would reccomend it. For me , It was missing a spark of excitement and I was left feeling it was great quality but nothing I hadn't had before. I always say I'm not a huge fan of classic British cooking however so this is a matter of my personal taste. My faves were the bread and cream cheese , and the chocolate mousse dessert. Both very good. Service was a little odd, we were shooed back out the restaurant into the street on arrival as we were 5 mins early (although I can appreciate there's not much room to set up in there). Service felt quite fast and plates were cleared before everyone was finished. And again, we felt a little rushed and were hurried to leave at the end end of the night. But it was a late booking so understandable to some extent. Overall great quality food which has been cooked with care, but quite traditional which I didn't find overly exciting, not a negative comment towards no name, just personal taste. If traditional British flavours are your bag you will love it.

Another amazing evening at No Name. My partner and I ate here for our first date, and tonight was just as good as the first time we visited. The flavours, presentation and atmosphere were all excellent. Save room for all three courses - you won't regret it. Thanks to Tom and his friendly staff. Keep up the good work!

Absolutely brilliant meal. Seasonal and creative dishes cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. From the bread to the dessert, everything was exceptional (I had the posset which was amazing). Great service in a relaxed, informal environment. Cant wait to visit again, even if it means cycling up that hill!

Dissapointing for the cost. I'd have thought a price of £15pp would be more fitting for what you recieve. The starter was enjoyable, however I found the main course quite bland. The desert was enjoyable but rather small.
