My kids love going here. Every time we are in town, they ask to go

I must have been in the wrong place given the outstanding reviews above or expectations are lower than mine. Food was a joke advertised as "freshly homemade " out of a tin more like, staff were rude and the atmosphere was out the 1970's where this out of date and out of touch cafe should have stayed.

Very happy to recommend Tony’s Diner. Have eaten here many times. Food is always good and it’s pretty cheap too. It’s not a fancy place - it’s pretty old fashioned and basic, but it is clean , warm and welcoming. My most recent meal on Saturday was a cheese and ham omelette and a cappuccino and I really enjoyed both.

Absolutely awful food! Macaroni chips with cheese wasn't even a micro one or attempted to be made fresh it was Tinned macaroni 🙈🤣 Absolutely awful my daughter wouldn't even eat it. The chips were undercooked. The stovies were bland and watery. The staff don't seem happy to be there at all. Only thing that was OK was the juice. Avoid at all costs! We have just had to leave town to buy a micromeal it was that bad.

Hidden away but useful to get plain fresh cooked food

I have been a patron, to this cafe for many years. The staff are friendly, funny, and attentive.., always on the go. It's a throwback, to when proper restaurants..., were proper restaurants. Whenever I visit Dundee.., it's the Only restaurant, I'll frequent.

Decided to come in for something quick to eat took me a while to get served (not a big deal) I asked the woman that came to my table where the bathroom was and she told me where I got up to walk there and she said fine I’ll not take your order then will not be back ever again

When you’re on a little holiday, sometimes it’s nice to go off the beaten track and away from the same old places you can find on any high street elsewhere in the UK. Whilst in Scotland on a four day break, we came across an independent little eatery- Tony’s Diner. This was is my type of place. Genuine and good-natured staff; authentic, slightly old-fashioned interior, but extremely endearing, clean and appealing just the same. I opted for what was declared on the board as the ‘Best Bacon Butty In Town,’ my partner went for the veggie breakfast, and there was a kid’s breakfast for the wee one. The bacon roll was a beauty and there were no complaints from my girlfriend and toddler. With drinks included we paid less than £14! Talk about value for money. If you’re in Dundee, make sure you give this place a try.

Absolutely fantastic, had to go back there when in Dundee and thats how i remembered it as a bairn. Food great, service second to none, and the food is good old home made and even better at a price people can afford. Dont pass it by. Thanks again from the Pass On man. Well done folks. Much larger than you'd think from walking past on the alley. Wide range of cafe foods cooked fresh at decent prices. Well worth a visit for hearty grub.

me and my partner have been going in here for a long time now, but today was the end of that! unfortunately the service wasn’t good. Took 10-15 mins to get served it was reasonably quiet at this point, and when we did the staff was very rude and unwelcoming. not happy at all with this service

Coffee and lorne roll were pretty decent but the soup was very thin and lacked flavour which is odd because the soup is usually good from this place. I'm not going to stop going there because I like the lorne and onion roll but I was left a little disappointed by the soup for sure. Update: The mince and chips are very nice, mince is a little cool but tastes very good.

On the 3rd day Jesus rolled out the tomb, and if I were Jesus just ressurected from the dead I would make a B-line straight to Dundee to get my morning fix at Tony's Diner. A proper honest establishment at proper honest prices, what you see is what you get. A homely full breakfast for less than a fiver! Worth noting that it is cash only so keep that in mind before you pay, however they dont mind if you go to the nearby cash machine.

Tony's diner is a little gem off the main high Street. It's been in business for around 20 years. It's great value cafe food that will keep you going throughout the day whether you're just looking for a coffee and a cake or having a very good value breakfast for £3.95 which included a cup of tea; sorted! In my eyes that's unbeatable value. It also has loads of great budget options for whatever you are in the mood for. One thing to note though it's cash payment only.

It's OK good food poor decor and poor service

Tony’s is a relatively new discovery for me despite living here for 32 years. Having been now every Saturday morning for the last few months I cannot fault the food, the lovely hot milky coffee or the prices. Yeah it’s set out like a works canteen but it’s spotlessly clean. The clientele are as you’d expect (it’s not the ritz). Staff are always friendly and attentive. If you’re a snob it’s definitely not for you so you’re better going for an overpriced coffee and cake at the likes of those blandly cloned, multinational non tax paying establishments.

Popped in for lunch while visiting Dundee was very busy which is a good sign sister in laws had scones which they enjoyed hubby had lentil soup I had a panini which was undercooked and a portion of chips which were a hit and miss some were hard overall we would probably return

I’m from Perth but I live in Dundee now. This is the first time I have been in here today and will be back had a cup of tea and and bacon/egg roll for just over £3 threat value as the food was delicious. Staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Value⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Give it a go you won’t regret it.

Lovely big breakfast inc. toast £8.50 Nice black coffee and hot chocolate 10yr old had a humongous plate of cheesy beans on toast for £3.75! Filled us up for the day I'd have taken photo but we ate it all up!

Good food and It's value for money, no frills

Searched for this place as couldn't remember exactly where it was or what it was called on a very rainy morning. We both ordered the vege breakfast which was fab. This came with a slice of toast and tea for two. Scoffed the lot. Warm plates, yippee. 😜🤪😜🤪, Will return soon for something from the daily delight menu.

As non-locals me and my partner were trying to find somewhere for a bite to eat and we found this place that did not disappoint. The staff were so lovely and down to earth and couldn't help enough, service was a 10/10. The food was also great, fresh and came quickly. Would recommend to anybody looking for a nice breakfast, a quick bite to eat or a snack, as there were a lot of options from big meals, to small meals to cakes and sides.

Loved this place, If I lived in Dundee, I would be there every morning, locals are the sweetest ppl. Grab a cuppa !!

Been going here for over 20 years still the same great service and affordable prices it's cheap and cheerfull no frills cafe that I would rate far higher than we'll known cafe chains we eat in 3 rossette restaurants and 5 star hotels yet when in Dundee head straight to Tony's I'm so glad they have survived the pandemic and wish them continued sucess

This is best cafe to get afull scottish breakfast in a wrap. Washed down with free coffee. Followed by seasonal clootie dumpling and egg custard. What a treat.all for under a fiver.

Honestly there's nothing negative about this place. It was well set out, there were no overlapping people and kept to social distancing laws. Not only that the food was wonderfully made. The staff were polite and considerate.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the diner was clean and aesthetically pleasing; I loved the theme of the place (including the framed picture of the owner and his wife standing in front of the diner years ago, which was cute and interesting) and although I only ordered a drink I would absolutely go again next time I'm in town. My wife and I had our first visit back to Dundee since Quarantine was introduced. We then went to Tonys Diner for Breakfast. This Diner is located at Peter street down from M&S towards the Overgate. It's nothing fancy just a regular Cafe where you can get freshly cooked food with table service. When we're away from Aberdeen we always compare prices with other towns as Aberdeen is an overpriced city to dine out in, In Tony's we got two Breakfasts with toast, Coffee, and a Tea, all this for under £10.0. Really good value. There is Social distancing in place with hand sanitiser available if required, we also found... as usual the Staff are very polite and helpful. If your looking for freshly cooked food, whether it's Breakfast, Lunches, or cooked snacks then I would recommend this Diner.

Almost seems like this place is stuck in time from about 30 years ago, but that's why I like it. Food is always good in here and I'm looking forward to returning when lockdown is over.

Had breakfast here, staff were more interested in finishing their cigarette and conversation than serving, food was OK if not a little too cold on my 2nd visit

We decided to have breakfast at Tony's based on Trip Advisor reviews. We like to try the old fashioned cafe's of our youth as they seem to disappearing fast. We loved Tony's and were surprised by the range of breakfast items on offer. We had a traditional breakfast and loved it. Very fast and friendly service and it was clear they have a lot of regular customers. We'll be back if we're in Dundee again.
