Friendly service but slow probably due to a very slow kitchen. Clearly understaffed. We ordered the burger that had little taste ,and the chips were cold, the carbonara that were ok, the spaghetti n’duja that tasted ok too but had at best 1/2 teaspoon of n’duja meat - the waiter reassured me this was how the dish was supposed to be which was disappointing. I was offered a free starter to make up which was a kind gesture but I declined as we already had to wait 40 minutes for our food to arrive to begin with and I was not prepared to wait anymore - so overall this was a poor experience. The visit to the toilets just reinforced the feeling the whole place is not well managed or looked after as the toilets were dirty, smelly and grimy. Won’t go back and certainly won’t advise anyone else to visit

Food was terrible. 4 cheese macaroni tasted like a bland cream sauce, carbonara was tasteless and my aunts lasagne had lots of chunks of hard pasta. Restaurant was cold and toilets were filthy. The sink in the disabled looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks and everything was covered in thick dust. Wont be back and its actually put me off the chain. Far too expensive for what it is.

Excellent, best pizza ever. Genuine Italian and the staff are fabulous. Its definitely worth a visit and their prices are great. Domino's should take a leaf out of Tony's book.

Went last night for a quick bite, service absolutely brilliant and also great fun (Harry) was best waiter ever, food was okay, pizzas a bit burnt, the killer for me was, I received £100 of vouchers when I left my work my last £20 could not be used as it was over 6 month old ( I don’t understand why a company would take money from you and not let you spend it) I did ask before I ordered and was going to go somewhere else but my wife would not leave. So I would recommend not getting vouchers for Tony Macaroni direct go to life style at least you you get a year.

We went for a meal at 5:30 on a Sunday evening, 2 adults and a 6 year old. After 1 hour we were not served our starters although our order was taken wothin 10 mins of arrival. after 45 mins we asked where the food was, 10 mins later a table that had arrived well after us got served. We left. Also the toilets were filthy and the room was cold. We have eaten a few times at Toni Macaroni’s in Livingston and near Barnton, both excellent. Keep well clear of this venue it is the worst service we have ever had!!

Dropped in on the advice of a good friend who told me the pizza was good. I've eaten pizza all over and I'm going back to New York in December for a 7th time, to carry on and heading up to New Haven to try Sally's. I know what's good. I only ever eat Margarita, one bite, everybody knows the rules etc.... The pizza I just ate is 100% the best electric oven pizza I've eaten. Crisp, blackened base. Leopard spotted top and a great dough/crust. Like a cross between Napolitan and NY style... I have a couple of go-to pizza places in Edinburgh and this is as good if not better. UNBELIEVABLE to think this was electric fired pizza. Give it a go for lunch. All the more impressive that all pizzas are £6.95 on the lunchime menu. A very pleasant surprise and experience. Primo! 8.4

Well, no one ever goes to a chain for fine dining - but generally you know what you’re getting and the price is reasonable. So, let’s start with the drinks - 1 Cosmo cocktail + 1 mocktail mojito. Both suckingly sweet and tasted like a packet mix. No stars for that round! Next, starters - bruschetta pomodoro + 1 rosemary focaccia, both ok if not great. Then the mains, 1 spaghetti with meatballs & 1 with chicken garlic and chilli. No! just no. The meatball pasta dramatically under seasoned but scrapping in at passable- just. The chicken pasta (as per picture) was also under seasoned and a bit of a car crash. Couldn’t even get a fair amount of the chicken on the fork, so dry it just crumbled to nothing when touched. It was also, at the same time, slop in a bowl. We decide to cut our losses and run after that so can’t comment on coffee or desserts. One saving grace - the staff are friendly. Bill came to just over £50. and included service charge. Wasn’t expecting earth shattering tastyness but this was substandard.

Starter: Arricini 5 small balls for £7.95, I asked if they were frozen.. no reply, they were frozen believe me! Chips were frozen also! Me Main Course: Pizza, goats cheese, caramelised onions, spinach, tomatoes. Spinach was also frozen, resulting in the pizza being watery! Hubby Spaghetti agliololi: The boiled spaghetti was not salted, resulting - the dish no flavour! They beleive in fresh produce, thats what they are all about!! The montepulciano wine was good👍 Very disappointed lunch, we will not ge back!

Today we went to Tony Macaroni in Straiton as the menu looked good. Unfortunately this was almost the only good thing about the restaurant, we had booked a table for 5 people as we’re on holiday and the food suited our party. Our drinks order was taken quickly and the drinks arrived quickly too. Food order was taken but waitress/manager didn’t write the order down, so we were worried our food wouldn’t be correct. We waited 40mins for our starters, then only 3 out of 4 arrived. The food that arrived was nice, somewhat overpriced in my opinion and no-one came to check we were happy with our food, which we weren’t as some was missing. We then waited another 30+mins for our pizzas/calzone. These were okay, definitely not the best pizza we’ve ever had, far from it but I guess not the worst either. Staff apologised for missing food and wait time and gave us the cost of 2 drinks back but frankly having been in the restaurant 2 hrs, it cost £70 (I didn’t pay the optional service cost as service was so slow), we wouldn’t recommend it. We’ve had much nicer fast food meals!! So when there is plenty of choice in that area personally I would recommend choosing somewhere else!

If anyone is looking for somewhere to eat with your wee ones who have autism we cannot recommend Tony Macaroni at Straiton enough. It’s under new management. We always ask to sit at a quiet bit as less distractions and only way our wee boy eats they let us choose where to sit that was best for us and rather than just leave us they tried so hard to interact with him jumping and skipping with him when he went to the toilet playing games with him with the menu and just talking to him whenever he passed. it’s the first place we have gone where we felt like they went above and beyond to make him comfortable he even shouted hello and bye every time he saw then which is a big thing as socially he really struggles. Actually made me a little bit emotional as we could see how happy and comfortable he was we will defo be back. The food was amazing too and really quick service.

Food arrived more than an hour late despite being around 2 miles away. Food was completely cold despite saying it does not get cooked until delivery driver assigned and being only 2 miles away. Restaurant said delivery companies responsibility however legally the restaurant choose delivery companies so ultimately it is the restaurants responsibility they are the supplier. Less than impressed and won't be back.

We dined here as a group of friends. We ordered pizza, pasta and a burger. The food was very good (not great, though). I would give it four stars if the service were better. The staff were clearly overloaded as there were so few of them. At one point, one of them answered a question we asked with an angry tone that we certainly did not appreciate. Overall, this restaurant offers value for money for a good Italian meal.

Went to get takeaway and was told they were too busy. What on earth is the difference whether you sit in to eat or if you order takeaway and wait for the food???? They lost 3 clients inclusive of myself. How many others did they lose??? I thought everyone needed the business in these hard times. Obviously NOT!

My husband and I had a child free afternoon after a busy Christmas and fancied a treat so visited the Tony Macaroni at Straiton. We were greeted with “there’s no heating, is that ok?” We were starving so didn’t bother us at that time. We were sat at a table for 2 near the bar but the sun was shining in my husbands eyes so the lady waiter did offer to move us. We were directed to a booth which was better but it was cold with the draft from the door being open. Not sure why they didn’t close the inner door considering there was already no heating working. Anyway on to the food….firstly, I ordered a coffee to warm me up. It arrived and it was lukewarm, I should have said to the waiter but I never like to complain. Second, we ordered a sharing platter of wings/ribs/mozzarella sticks etc. Appearance wasn’t the best, and a pile of rocket was just chucked down the middle as a garnish I presume? Better just not putting it on. All items were lukewarm and just not very appetising. Weird flavour to the chicken wings, could tell the other items were out of a freezer also. Left a bad taste in my mouth I kind of didn’t want to stay for the main. Bearing in mind we had to wait at least 30 mins for our starter whilst sitting freezing cold. No offer of a discount for the inconvenience. Mains came, my husband ordered 1/2 ribs…literally 4 little ribs and another handful of rocket were on the plate? Genuinely had to laugh! For nearly £9…what on earth was this? A child’s portion would have been larger than this. He also ordered Cajun fries which didn’t arrive until after our mains came. These were overpowering with seasoning and weren’t fully cooked. We didn’t touch them. My macaroni was edible but nothing gracious or special about it, no side salad, garlic bread, nothing and the portion was huge, too much for one person which from the get go was off putting. Very disappointed overall and won’t be visiting again.

Terrible service! Even worse food! Lady on the counter needs to sort her attitude out and because we asked questions about what we were ordering she gave us the old haggis that looked like it had been in the warmer for 8 hours

Myself & my friend and 9month old baby were in for breakfast on Monday 9th of March. We were served by FLAVIO ... what can I say his service was amazing like in a 5 star restaurant. He was so polite and well mannered something you don’t get in many places nowadays. We will definitely be back.

Where do I begin. Restaurant freezing - I mean so cold the waiting staff were wearing parkas! I kid you not. Service was appalling. After 50 minutes we had drinks and no food. Tables were sending back food and there were obvious arguments between waiting staff and kitchen staff. When we asked how long our food would be we got a shrug in place of an answer. Hungry grandchildren and fear that we would never actually get food we left and went to Pizza Express. A warm restaurant with excellent staff... and more importantly food! What a disgrace of a restaurant Toni Macaroni is. A word of apology and explanation would have helped but the staff could obviously not be bothered. To sum up my experience - disinterested staff, freezing cold (seriously you need to take a blanket!), a truly awful experience. My advice DO NOT GO HERE ... EVER! 1 star is too much but I can't give zero.
