Frankie and Benny's in Edinburgh, City of

Myself & my friend and 9month old baby were in for breakfast on Monday 9th of March. We were served by FLAVIO ... what can I say his service was amazing like in a 5 star restaurant. He was so polite and well mannered something you don’t get in many places nowadays. We will definitely be back.

Met at door by Chelsea. Asked if any allergies..... Well done!! Perfect service by her, served us well and checked once if food was OK. Food was excellent, well done to the chef!!

Came with my husband and 1 year old daughter for tea. Manager was fantastic and the food was excellent.

Food was average, it was edible but not the best. I’d say 2.5/5*. However, that is not my reasoning for the low mark. I just find it utterly shocking and rude that staff members - both floor and kitchen staff may I add - will stand about having conversations with each other in what I can only assume is polish. Standing chit chatting whilst customers are needing served, completely dismissing them. Kitchen staff also have little to no respect, shouting and talking loudly in A foreign language to each other as well with not a care in the world. This just seems completely unprofessional and is extremely uncomfortable as for all we know their conversation could be about us. Management really must up their game and have a word about their staff members insult customers as well, as we unfortunately overheard a conversation about a customer by a certain staff member and who I assume was the manager as he was the only person not in the blue work shirt. It truly is a shame to see a restaurant what once was a lovely diner go downhill

Breakfast disappointing, full Scottish was half hot on plate & cold, sausage was tough & definitely not made fresh, staff were great , made another one right away, friend’s toast came like white warm limp bread, it’s a shame as we were only people there , so they were not rushed off their feet. Won’t be back, just another big chain letting things slip, so many great wee cafes in area with the personal touch & much better food.

On a Monday late afternoon we were well looked after by Lauren who was friendly, organised and efficient.We didn't think through our Meerkat meal orders well enough and possibly missed a trick with our side salad order - if 2 for 1 we should have ordered 2 as the dish and contents was very meagre.2 Teas came with mugs as requested and at the time of the main courses. However a mug of hot water (3/4 full) and a tea bag to dunk ourselves seems a little profiteering for the price of £2-49.The house burger was acceptable standard fare but we were very disappointed with the Tuscan sausage pizza. The picture on the menu indicated a fully topped offering.Instead we had to play "hunt the slice" - the sausage itself was very tasty but there were hardly pieces any on show.A shame as the welcome and service wasn't matched by the food and value - even with the Meerkat offer.

The staff are brilliant and were able to cope with my nut allergy brilliantly. The shift manager Robert made sure everything was double checked and safe for me to have.

I will start by saying the food was absolutely gorgeous, delicious as F&B always is. What was truly exceptional though was the standard of service. I was served by a lovely young man named Curt (even more gorgeous than the food!) and he went above and beyond for us! I have never had a server as skilled as this young man. Not only was he faster than light, he was absolutely hilarious. And I mean hilarious. I'm laughing now even thinking about his spaghetti joke! Truly, it felt like we had a real host for the evening. Whatever this boy is being paid, it is not enough! Without a doubt the best F&B in Scotland and it's solely thanks to Curt. Yum yum!

Visited on the 4th of January, the food was good. Flavio our waiter was great, he was very talkative and seemed very happy to work there. Great laugh and made us feel welcome.

Just a quick visit on my own, there was no wait, the server was efficient and quick, the place was clean and there was a pleasant atmosphere, good drinks selection and the usual American diner feel about place and its menu. I can only comment on the main meal that I had, a pasta dish with chicken and peperoni, in a spicy tomato sauce with some leaves on it, nice food, hot when it arrived, a little spicy but not too hot, enjoyed it and my brief visit.

Had a lunch here with my cousin. It was not my first visit to this branch, the quality of which I find a 'hit or a miss'... ie. sometimes quite good, sometimes not so good. This time proved mediocre.

Had evening meal here, and the service and food was really good. I find the brand can be hit and miss around the country, but this branch was probably the best to date. Nice atmosphere, food just as ordered and well cooked , very pleased.

Visited the Gyle branch today and was very impressed with our waitress Alicia. Very polite and friendly service.

Arrived later on at night, Robert was so friendly and welcoming. He went out his way to make sure we were looked after🙌🏻😊 food was great, really quick. Definitely recommend it. Thanks Robert

Not great sorry thought the food was pretty average and bland. Didn’t really like the pastas we shared and thought the mac cheese was poor. However I have to say the staff were very lovely friendly and helpful.

A 2 rating because my husband said his breakfast was good. However mine was not. I had the veggie fry up...I asked for well done poached eggs, which in other F&B;'s has not caused a problem. My plate arrived with 2 lightly done poached eggs swimming in water. The breakfast went back & the same plate returned some time later with the same eggs having been microwaved. The fried tomato & mushrooms were cold. The hash browns were soggy having been sitting in the earlier water. The teaspoonful of avocado was fine as was the toast but generally I had been put off. Really disappointing. We paid & I left hungry.

I went here with my kids and mum and we wont be back. My mum and I had the Penne Arribiata, one of my kids had the Spaghetti Carbonara and the other had a Bacon Cheese Burger. Whilst the food tasted fine, it would have tasted much better if it had not been cold! I initially sent my pasta back because there was no olives on my pasta, as per the menu. When it came back it was cool, there was barely any heat in the food. I tried my kids food and theirs was the same. Throughout out whole visit not one person asked how the food was, and I got the impression this was intentional. It's shame, cause Frankie & Benny's used to be great for a good value, tasty bite to year, but it's really gone down hill based on this visit.

The customer service was excellent and the waitress did a lot to help with the ordering. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Our table was lovely and clean. The atmosphere very relaxed and professional. Bill very reasonable. Will definitely return.

curt was very pleasant serving us the food was really nice but had a issue with no having enough cheese sauce on my bacon and cheese fries when asked for more curt was more than happy to help out but the kitchen staff had an issue with this and where complaining Lauren the manager delt with it amazingly and got the issue resolved quickly but kitchen staff kept on going on about it in Polish talking about us thinking that we couldn't hear/ understand them which was a Bit out of order and disrespectful

Went for dinner, woman at bar saw us walking in and ignored us, then after 4min said I will be with you soon.

Went here for dinner and was disappointed. Shown to the table quick enough but then it became so slow it was unbelievable. The staff were polite enough and trying very hard but It was obvious that there wasn’t enough staff for how busy it was and the starters and main courses took forever. Food quality was OK but not the best . One of the group had Macaroni and Cheese and it was so dry I think it had been sitting under a hot plate for ages.

Me and my partner thought we would come here for lunch as we were starving, gutted we missed breakfast menu but. We were served by john promptly, and got our drinks fast. Food order was taken fast and food arrived quick. Lovely food nice and hot. Would definitely reccomend

I had an awful experience at Frankie & Benny's at the Gyle yday. I am coeliac so I have to eat gluten free and asked for the gluten free menu. I chose items that were also available on the lunch deal (2 courses for £9.99) to be told that I would have to pay the FULL menu price as gluten free items weren't included in the lunch price even though it was the same thing?! This is absolutely disgusting. I ended up having several arguments with the staff as its appalling that I should be discriminated against because I have an illness and penalised for it by having to pay almost twice the price for things that were on the lunch deal anyway! Its ridiculous! The Manager accepted my point eventually or I would have walked out the restaurant on principal but it was a highly embarrassing situation. It's difficult enough eating out when coeliac without having to encounter further problems. Also the GF menu is offering GF pizza but when i queried it, i was told it was cooked in the same pizza oven as the regular pizza!!! How can that be safe when pizza is covered in flour? I thought F&Bs; was accredited by coeliac society so staff should be aware of the seriousness of cross contamination but maybe I'm mistaken about this. The food wasnt great either and we had to send my friends regular pasta back as it was served stone cold.

Delicious meal out again served by the lovely Alicja. Always has a smile on her face and is happy to help with any questions and queries. Thanks again we will definitely be back

Ordered pizza when it arrived it was so spicy neither of us could eat it

My wife , baby and myself went here for lunch last week. Where it all started pretty pleasently it went downhill im afraid. The staff forgot us, took other orders before us and then forgot us again at the end of the meal even though our baby was screaming and was itching to leave for a sleep.

We were out for a family meal our lovely server Lauren was amazing made sure we had a fantastic stress free meal she was happy and also very polite thank you so much zoe

Just want to say how amazing your staff at Frankie & Benny’s are especially our server Lauren! My son has a peanut allergy so she ensured to check the ingredients to allow a safe meal for him and stress free for us.

Excellent food but nothing compare to my server Monika, she was super professional, very polite and friendly. Defenitely gonna come back just to be served by her. Well done Monika and thank you.

I booked a table for Monday 30 September at 19.00. Turned up to notice on the door to say it was closed 30 September - 4 October. I don't understand why I wasn't contacted ; they have my email address and mobile number. Very poor

No solo tenía comida de primer nivel en un gran lugar, sino un excelente servicio. Parecía muy ocupado un lunes, pero Robbie se aseguró de que todos nos sirvieran rápidamente, y siempre estaba allí con las bebidas y la comida. Excelente noche, y gracias Robbie por cuidarnos tan bien.

Good good at a good price. What made it excellent was the service we got from Robert- attentive, funny and great banter!

Too many things for report,Just not acceptable as F&B.The; manager has no management and people skills at all,the floor staff try there best.Hopefully the Area Manager can get it sorted ASAP as l will be contacting with my company’s consent.

Was at Frankie and Bennys at the gyle today having been a couple of weeks ago as well with colleagues. Today I went with family and had a birthday voucher to use for a free meal. Last time the wait for food was totally unacceptable and the food wasn’t anything special. The loaded potato skins were anything but loaded but a small amount of cheese and bacon on halved potatoes. The main course then took an age to appear and the pizza oven was broken. Today I ordered a main course with my birthday voucher and my daughter and granddaughter ordered theirs. The starter arrived after about 30 mins I asked for my granddaughters at the same time . It was over an hour before our main courses came and the chicken parmigiana I had was so over cooked it was inedible. On complaining to the waitress she then told me the manager had taken it off my bill but considering it was free birthday voucher it wasn’t really helpful. At no point did any manager apologise for the time waited or the quality of the food. I’ve had lots of nice meals at frankie and bennys but don’t think that’s ever been the case at the gyle and I don’t think I would be willing to give it any more chances .

Stopped going to Frankie & Benny's after they started using old wooden boards for burgers and stopped their really good relish. Went there last night as it was just handy to go with my son. First of all we we asked for 2 Cokes and ended up with some poor tasting diet rubbish I then ordered a burger and my son kids chicken strips. My Burger arrived on what looked like a kids plate with about 15 small fries and what looked like an ok burger but still small. My son had the same small amount of fries and what looked like chicken strips cut in half to make them look more. We then decided to have a desert and my son ordered the kids brownie and I also ordered the adults brownie. Now the Brownie comes under sundaes on the menu with pictures of large glasses full of ice cream bit like a Knickerbocker glory. What arrived was placed on a small plate, both the same but my son only had one small tiny piece of brownie and I had 3 tiny pieces of brownie together with dribble of chocolate sauce and a tiny wee pot of ice cream, with a squirt of fake cream. I gave my son one of the pieces of brownie which made them exactly the same except mine cost nearly £6. I did hit them with the app which was kids eat free but the bill still came to £22. Even with a crappy McDonalds and a McFlurry it would have been more food than here. Poor portions to makeup for giving food away for free with apps. How is this company still going ?

Don,t go! Just visited tonight and it was awful.Witress was pleasant however the food did not live up to any expectation.We ordered 2 burgers and 2 pizzas.The burgers were tasteless and unappetising.The pizza,s were passable.2 burgers,literally burger with a bit of lettuce and a few chips,and 2 small pizzas 4 soft drinks and a coffee came to £55.very expensive for the standard of food.Will not be back

Came in for a meal and was looked after by the wonderful Leann. Meal was delicious, I had the cheese and chive potato skins (YUM) followed by a chicken parmigiana! The service was amazing and I will definitely be coming back!

What looked like a hot dog on the menu turned out to be a huge bratwurst, but it was delicious and couldn't have been better when topped off with a strawberry shake. Food was how and service was OK. It was quiet and I would have thought an easy order would have come out a little quicker, but worth the wait. Wide selection on the menu and reasonably priced. Clean and well maintained.

Went for Sunday lunch with Family before going on holiday. Food was good as was service. We had shared starter plenty for 4 people. All had different mains and all great portion sizes. Well pleased.

Visited here earlier today with a 3 year old. Slow service, people who arrived later had almost finished their meal before we even got ours. Manager apologised and offered some drinks but they took so long to arrive we gave up, paid the bill and left. To be fair the manager did knock something off the bill. Could do better.

My wife and I visited here for lunch, I had mushroom bruschetta for a starter and it tasted like chow mien ! I then had CREAMY garlic chicken pasta, it wasn’t creamy and never tasted like garlic, it was brown fr a start!!! Terrible food and won’t be back

As you’d expect from Frankie & Benny’s. Swift service and a standard menu. However the potato skins are more like mini-baked potatoes. They weren’t scooped out at all and basically half potatoes topped with bacon and cheese. Tasty, but not potato skins. Food hot and served quickly. Probs wouldn’t go back unless really stuck for somewhere to go.

We were staying at the Ibis across the road so decided to have a meal and drinks before the Spice Girls concert. We both had the same starter the loaded potato skins which were lovely and a chicken burger and BBQ Chicken for mains. Both were really tasty. We had a few cocktails too. The service was great and it was not too busy when we went in.

YUMM!! Food is tasty and the atmosphere is lovely! All staff are really helpful especially the really pretty manager Louise who is so nice and manages her staff in an excellent way! Would definitely recommend to everyone!

Went for a quiet breakfast waiting on our car repair. The restaurant was warm and welcoming. The manager was very friendly and the server was attentive but not in your face which is nice. She was really good with other tables who had kids too. The breakfast was hot and fresh looked really appetising. A must visit if your over this way, and if your not then make the trip!

Restaurant atmosphere great, service was spot on and the food was delicious. Everything came quickly and our server made sure we had everything we needed.

I wasnt impressed with the menu. I had expected dishes cooked fresh but they were from frozen. The calamari was rubbery and heavily coated in bread crumbs. Now I am a bit skeptical with the veggie burger. Would they be freshly made or frozen? Perhaps this isnt a place for me but others may enjoy it.

Came here for lunch today with my brother .. with a groupon voucher. I arrived early .my guest ran 20 minutes late..no problem ! Restaurant moderately busy but we were served efficiently politely and with a smile by the duty manager I believe. The menu choice was so varied.. I had cod crab bites followed by salmon with great veg and baked tatie.. my bro had chicken wings followed by a pepperoni pizza . Everything was really delicious ! Such great value for money .. nice atmosphere ... great music.. all in all I thoroughly recommend this restaurant ..would be a great party venue too ! We will return !Thanks to all staff. This was disgusting. My grandma can cook better than this... and she's blind and disabled. I would rather circumsize myself with a post-it than eat anymore of this aids.

Was pretty busy so service was lil slow but our server (wee Scottish lass) was lovely. Appologised for delay, talking away to the kids and got her manager to give us a wee discount for waiting on our food but we did expect everywhere to be busy with it being the Easter hols. Would suggest booking when there’s holidays on but all in all food was great and even though we could see the wee lassie was a bit flustered but did not stop her from coming over with a huge smile on her face

Lovely table service from a smart young lady called Lauren. The food was plentiful delicious and reasonably priced. I had the house white and it was very good. We did not have to wait long at all. Would recommend the Cajun chicken wrap.

El personal estaba completamente desinteresado, se mostraba una mesa y menús y se iba por 15 minutos sin siquiera preguntarnos si queríamos una bebida. El personal debe ser realmente infeliz en su trabajo, no una sonrisa ni una bienvenida. Solía ser un gran Frankie y Benny's. Nos dejaron justo en frente de la zona de cocción, que es caliente y ruidosa a pesar de que había muchos otros asientos. El lugar ni siquiera estaba ocupado, así que no hay excusa para esta sorprendente falta de servicio al cliente.

Always a great meal with fantastic attentive manager Robert and friendly staff. Food is always good and menu now has a lot more to choose from.

Visitamos para el almuerzo del viernes por la tarde. Ordenado fuera del menú principal y tenía una pizza Chicken Americano de 15 "y un festín de albóndigas calzone, seguido de un helado y una masa para galletas y un helado de caramelo. Basta decir que a menos que tenga un gran apetito, saldrá con mucha pizza a Disfruta en casa más tarde!

Yo y mi pareja amamos a F & be, así que decidimos ir a desayunar un servicio muy rápido. Nos sentamos muy rápido y las bebidas tomadas (pequeña niña rubia muy educada) obtuvimos nuestra comida muy rápidamente también. Llegó la comida estaba deliciosa! Tuvimos una agradable charla con John, su servicio al cliente es sorprendente, recomendaría este lugar a otros para el desayuno y las comidas.

I have to say that this is the first our family have frequented a Frankie and Benny's restaurant and have to say. We will be going back again very soon. We were visiting Edinburgh for the weekend and my girls just wanted something quick so we thought about here and we weren't disappointed. The menu was well thought out and catered for all tastes. Sometimes my girls can be fussy but not on Friday night. We didn't book and were met by a lovely lady who showed us to a table. We ordered drinks and had a good read of the menu my youngest went for spag bol and garlic bread and chips with a fruit cocktail drink my eldest opted for pizza with her choice and strawberry milk, the wife went for the sirloin steak and chips and I went for the rack of bbq ribs. Every morsel was eaten and my eldest even stated that she had just had the best pizza ever bonus. We all really enjoyed our choices and all said we hope every one of the chains would be as good as here. The waitress we had was very helpful and made us feel very welcome and nothing was a problem. I wish I had asked her name but forgot. So all I can say was she had long brown hair and she had a foreign accent. 10 out of 10

Went to have a meal to celebrate the start of half term. Welcome was good - shown straight to table Had to wait a little till our server came for drinks order - took food order at same time. Drinks did arrive quickly & food not long after. I chose ribs & my friend chose chicken parmigiana. Server was attentive & efficient. Sadly no room for dessert! Pleasant atmosphere. Good value for money

My great value lunchtime pizza was excellent. My wife and daughter ate half of their meals. Lunch deal is good - 2 courses £10. Drinks are not discounted and are expensive. Service friendly and efficient.

We visited for dinner and ordered for our little one first. The waitress told us they didnt do what we asked for. I showed it to her on the menu and she was like "oh" then went and checked and sure enough they did. Same with the dessert, we ordered the kids dairy free sundae and she came back with coconut icecream. They dont even sound similar and she kept saying she was only part time so she didnt know, but I don't really think thats a good enough reason.

We had to ask for order to be taken .. when the food arrived, yeah it was warm .. but that was it .. my sweet potato fries were mainly just warm. All the burgers in the order were .. just warm. Calzone pizza was fine though. Download the app, use the vouchers .. makes the prices for the ok food more realistic. ! Will not hurry back.

Where to start? I requested diet coke, no ice - received ediet pepsi from a gun with ice. Daughter's chicken skewers were fine. Her main, gluten free burger and baked potato, was literally that. No salad, veg etc. She had asked for no mayo, this was taken to mean she didn't want salad either. Salad was brought on a separate plate. Had to ask twice for butter for the potato. I asked for medium sirloin, with green veg instead of chips. Steak was thick, probably rump, and medium rare. Veg was cold. Didn't bother complaining about mine after the fiasco with my daughter's. Won't be rushing back here.

Where do I start? Well to be fair I have eaten in other branches of Frankie and Benny's and have had a very good meal and experience but not in this one...... First we waited to be seated and were shown to a seat. The seat was broken and out of place, so I asked if we could get one without a broken seat. Well how dare I? That was the start. I had obviously offended the waiter as he went in the huff and we then got another waiter who was very nice and took our order. We didn't have to wait long on our starter which was fine nothing to write home about but was only doughballs and a salad. My friend asked the first waiter where the toilets were and he was still in the huff as he gave him an odd look and just pointed without speaking. For mains we both just had hotdog and fries the sausage in the roll was very tough and chewy and the fries had been fried so many times they were just shells of potato filled with oil, I didn't eat my hotdog or fries my friend did have a try at eating the hotdog but had to give up and he left the fries. We then sat for about 20/30 mins waiting for the waiter to come back as we had said at the start we would have dessert, but we gave up and put our coats on, but even then no one came near us. We then walked down to the till/bar area and again had to stand and wait for the waiter to come down, he asked how our meal was and I told him terrible. We told him why and he didn't say anything after this. No "sorry to hear that" or anything, he just went quiet and never spoke again. This restaurant failed on all fronts, no way would I go back and normally I would not leave a bad review unless on there own website but this was so bad I felt I had to.

We had a lovely time here today. The Christmas menu was great and the cocktails excellent. The gingerbread Bellini was amazing. We were served quickly and efficiently. Our waiter didn’t have to write anything down. We got our drinks and food in good time. I want to say thank you to John for the banter and extremely pleasant service. A joy to there.

We waited ages for to be seated while the waitress with short hair stood chatting away with the kitchen staff and again when wanting to order.

We visited the restaurant on the night of the gyle light swich on so the place was extremely busy. I felt the staff handled the busy restaurant perfectly and service was brilliant. Food was exactly as we wanted, very tasty.

Worst F&B; we have ever been to, and we've been to a few!

Had a lovely time in Frankies at The Gyle earlier this week. Was served by a rather charming young man by the name of Ross, who invited me to 'sit on his place'. He took my friend and I to a table.

The Gyle branch is near my work, so handy for both a quick lunch or an after work catch up. The menu is perfect for both and large enough so we don’t get bored. While the service is always good, the other day we had ‘Robbie’. He was brilliant, friendly but professional too - made sure our order was smoothly taken and ensured it was correct. The best part was that even though I’m sure he was very busy, he still found time to make us all feel like special guests, which is the added touch you don’t always get in busy chain restaurants. So well done Robbie...we’ll look out for every time!

It wasn’t the first time in frankies, but I have never ever been in Omni. And must admit, food was really good. Our server Urte was so friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. Worth to come back.

Me alojé en el Ibis al otro lado de la calle y no quería esperar hasta las 18:30 para su servicio de comida. F & be estaba bien, simple y sabroso. El anfitrión me sentó inmediatamente y tomó mi pedido de bebida. El servidor apareció poco después y estuvo atento durante todo el proceso. Tuve el filete de salmón a la parrilla y me sorprendió gratamente lo buenas y frescas que eran las verduras.

Mi compañero y yo fuimos a Frankie & Benny's a Gyle esta noche ya que nos quedamos en un hotel cercano. Nos llevaron rápidamente a una mesa, lo que fue una buena señal. Echamos un vistazo por el menú, tomamos nuestras decisiones y luego esperamos para tomar nuestro pedido de bebidas y comida. Para cualquiera que no haya estado en F & be's desde hace un tiempo, ahora tienen un menú con un lado rojo y otro verde para que sea más fácil para el personal de espera, supongo.

No complaints at this branch of one of our favourites. Typical F&B; layout, decor and menu and that is no bad thing. Good service and tasty food as always.

Popped in for evening meal & was seated quickly though it was busy. Main course was very nice as was the wine. Attentive waitress Andrea made sure we had all we required.

Had a lovely meal here recently with friends. Lots of choices for food, excellent service from Andrea, would definitely come back!

Had a very nice lunch. Served by a top guy Robbie, who made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend it.
