Ate here for free essentially using Yonder points. Was fairly expensive all in. The steaks were just fine. I wouldn’t eat here again and certainly not if I had to pay for it. It wasn’t bad in any way, just average.

We had the absolute pleasure of being looked after by Wesley at The Coal Shed, and he was genuinely fantastic. From the moment we sat down, his energy was spot on — warm, professional, and full of positive vibes. He really took the time to understand what we were after and gave brilliant recommendations that made our evening even better. The steaks were absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Wesley’s knowledge and attentiveness made the whole experience seamless. A great server who clearly loves what he does. Didn’t have a reservation but really friendly staff who accommodated us. Never had the burger before- it was made with love. Comes with delicious fancy fries. I also had a Paloma cocktail which really made me feel like I was on holiday. Wonderful food for a fair price, awesome atmosphere and great service. Like terminator “I will be back!”

We had a lovely experience with the kids. Aliyah was incredible, helpful, attentive and great with kids. A super rare treat. And really fab good quality food all round - with probably best churros we've ever had and very nice coffee

This was my second visit to the Coal shed and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit The lady that greeted us on front of house was so lovely she took our drink and food order and was so informative We will definitely be returning soon excellent food and customer service Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Very average. The host on the door was lovely, but they were clearly understaffed. Didn’t mention they were out of many of the food options until we came to order. The venue was too loud, we were there on a Saturday evening but as a pair, we had to shout to each other. Put some fabrics down, to deaden the noise. Our order was taken but the server forgot my drink, which seems obvious as they only gave us one drink for two people. No one then spoke to us until after we’d finished eating, so I never did get my drink. Waitress refilled the water after our meal which she poured on top of my partners non-water drink and ruined that. She tried her best but… not a great move. Food was very average, and a £20 service charge when we barely had any service was somewhat silly.

Mixed impressions about this place. To start of the review with the star of the show, the steaks were amazing and cooked to perfection. Both the ribeye and the fillet were delicious! Sadly, the experience went downhill from there… Food wise, the cauliflower was great! The “caesar salad” an absolute abomination. I don’t know whose idea it was to lather a lettuce in sauce and sprinkle croutons, but they are definitely not a chef…! The fried chicken, extremely dry and could easily tell that it was not freshly fried, just mediocrely reheated. Parmesan fries… well, the picture is there, find the parmesan. What really let the place down was the service! Could not for the life of us flag the waiter down as 1 person was handling a large area. It took 20 minutes to order our drinks and food, then another 20 minutes to get the drinks. Which unsurprisingly came alot later than the reheated fried chicken. Overall, would not recommend. For the price point the quality is not there and needs a management crack down on service and kitchen standards.

Love this place. Wesley was a wonderful host as well explored the menu. Oysters, corn ribs, olives and sirloins, beautifully matched with Gavi and Shiraz.

I travelled from the US and decided to visit this restaurant. I wasn't really impressed by the menu or the food after our experience. Overall we spent about $300 and was underwhelmed. They did run out of their special cuts early. Service was OK.

I am really happy with the service received, Wesley is really good at what he does and knows his stuff. He gave a really detailed explanation and description of the foods on the menu, he really helped us make a choice on what to eat and the recommendations lived up to the expectations.

We had an amazing time at the Coal Shed. Aaliyah our waitress was 10/10. She was attentive and provided an amazing service. The food was good and we would recommend and come back.

First off, great staff all round from both front of house and servers. Starters were tasty but some dishes left wanting more portion wise (two tiny scallops etc). We got the wagyu and ribeye for mains and similar story. Taste was decent but couldn't tell you with a straight face the wagyu was anything extraordinary - texture, mouth feel and seasoning was soso and wouldn't be able to pick it out in a line up. The chimichuri sauce was also overly oily, was not expecting that. The plate presentation was also quite poor, its a giant plate with not a lot on it, cmon fellas.we can do better. Hard to justify at these sort of price points. Overall, service and atmosphere really do the heavy lifting here, especially Aaliah who served us on the night who was knowledgeable and welcoming

Incredible restaurant! We celebrated my bestie’s first visit to London from Canada. Aaliyah and Bijesh our servers were extremely kind, friendly and welcoming. Truly wonderful hospitality and the Sunday Roast was delicious 😋 well worth it!!

For the price point the food was ok - not bad at all. I’m comparing this to restaurants like meatandwine co - you’d pay around the same ballpark but everything is so much better. This felt more like a good restaurant nothing premium.

Had the best Sunday roast in London here. Everything was cooked to perfection, very reasonably priced for what you get. Service was fantastic by all the staff there.

second time there and i forgot how professional and amazing the team there is as soon as we arrived we was greeted with smiles from everyone the lady which i am assuming was the manager she took my coat and the bags we had we shown to our seats chair was pulled out and tucked in for me there all so friendly wanting to take pictures for you and genuinely asking if everyone thing is okay and what we had been getting up too and the food is to die for we had the sharing bone in sirloin with some sides and it was delicious cooked to perfection definitely recommend going and trying this place well worth it will be back again

We were served by Wesley he was amazing. He explained the menu to us right down to where the food comes from, how they prepare it and how they cook it. He gave us his personal recommendations which were to die for! I couldn't fault the service, I would definitely go back, the Porterhouse Steak was the best ever I've had!

Second d time at the Coal Shed, this time we went to their London Bridge venue and it did not disappoint. We had a knowledgeable and attentive server called Wesley. Ask for him if you visit this venue.

Like us, 99% of the crowd seem to end up here with a Virgin voucher. A good attempt by a family friend for a birthday or celebration who knows you like food. If you have a voucher, don’t expect too much. Roasts have moved on a lot and this feels very middle of the road. If you don’t have a voucher, you’ve got top places like Blacklock or Temper nearby. Go there.

We enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch at the Coal Shed. The food was amazing, and Wesley who was serving us was knowledgeable about the menu and really friendly and attentive to us.

We walked in on the day of the Marathon, and were lucky to get a table on the terrace. Picked the corn and the bang bang cauliflower off the snacks menu. Sirloin and sea bream as mains. All of it was absolutely delicious! Cocktails yummy too. We'll definitely go back.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, lots of empty tables and it's easy to see why. Food took forever to get out, we asked for our sides to be brought out first since the steak was going to take a while, but then they forgot. Everything is pretty average and the portion size is tiny. We ordered a 1kg Chateaubriand, which turned out to be blue in the center when we asked for medium rare. We paid £77 a head and left disappointed. You are better off going to Hawksmoor, Gaucho, or or even Flat Iron.

Curt waitress and loud music made an otherwise nice experience go sour.

Consistently the best steak we've had in London, it's a family favourite as we never have a bad experience here. The wagyu tomahawk was a bit of a splurge but a worthy one, being cooked and seasoned to perfection. Our whole table was stunned into silence for several minutes just savouring how delicious it was. It paired perfectly with the very moreish and tangy house steak sauce (something halfway between BBQ ribs and A1 steak sauce). More impressively, the quality ran consistently across the board. All starters/sides (oysters, bread, charred greens, salad, mash, beef fat chips) excellent as well. Same for the desserts, the sticky toffee pudding and brulee brioche (essentially the best bread and butter pudding you'll ever have) were particular highlights. Service from both our hosts was faultless - attentive, personable and helpful throughout. We felt so well looked after, and can't wait to be back next time!

We had a roast and it was amazing! Only thing we would say is gravy was too runny and watery and wasnt really enough to share. Love the whole feel of the place but the tables were very close to each other, crammed in it felt like, which was strange because half the restaurant was empty,but we were all squished infront of the kitchen window, which was a bit awkward as u could literally join in with someone’s conversation and hear them taking every mouth full. But on a whole we would come back but id request a table further away or by the window etc to feel a bit more relaxed

Me and a friend were visiting London, we chose to have our evening me at the coal shed, what a great choice the food was superb, but our waiter Wesley was amazing, he explained everything on the menu even down to the coal shed steak sauce, which that’s to Wesley great explanation was amazing and went with the fillet beef really well. Thank you for making our first night in London so pleasant, we’re never felt rushed and all the staff were amazing but Wesley stood out for me. Excellent customer service and with a smile .. Disappointing Experience I recently had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The fish I ordered was spoiled and had a foul smell, which was shocking given that the chef should have noticed during preparation. My friend’s ribeye steak was overcooked and lacked marbling, despite being ordered medium rare. When I politely mentioned the issue with the fish to the waiter, he became defensive without even checking it. However, the manager later offered to remove the cost of the fish from the bill ( which I did not request or expect), without acknowledging that something must have gone wrong with its handling. On a positive note, the ambiance was decent, and the salad and French fries were good. Another diner in our party found their burger to be okay. To make matters worse, I suspect I was served caffeinated coffee instead of decaf, which is why I’m writing this review so late at night. Despite some positive aspects, the overall experience was marred by significant issues.

We had an amazing experience with Wesley. The atmosphere, food and service were beyond exceptional. This was our date night dinner while visiting from Canada and all of the above exceeded experiences we’ve had before. Service and food will have to live up to our dinner and we are still talking about it the next day and we will for a long time to come. The waygu steak was melt in your mouth and the house steak sauce complimented it very well without competing/overpowering. The appies and drinks were both exceptional as well. The staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive as well as having great knowledge of the dishes which we really appreciated. We will definitely go out of our way to return any time we are visiting. Highly recommend and thank you for this dining experience. It was very busy but the staff took care of us incredibly, if this place is busy this should NOT drive you away.

Used the private dining room for 60th birthday. Everything was perfect, the food was magnificent, we had the feasting menu, would highly recommend. The service was great too.

Solo dinner before the theatre, very comfortable unrushed atmosphere. Food amazing: salmon starter, steak fries main, glass of red, lovely old fashioned and an espresso came to £66 with service,. Wesley and the team got the right balance of attentiveness without being too much, highly recommend!

Visited the coal shed after researching restaurants to go whilst in london ( found on tiktok ) we was served my Aaliyah who is an asset, her friendly, welcoming, attentive, charming personality was infectious. The food was stunning & my nut allergy was adhered to. The cocktails are incredible. Really really amazing experience

We had dinner here for my partner’s 40th birthday. Our server Aaliyah was amazing. Very attentive and friendly. Our meal was delicious especially the sticky toffee pudding.

Unfortunately the best part of this experience was leaving. I'm surprised given the good reviews, but it was one of the worst Sunday Roasts I have ever had. Starting from the top, the host needs some training. No hello, no "I'll be with you in a moment", after a few awkward minutes, I wasn't sure if the hostess knew what to do with us. We finally got seated at a table so close to other guests it was almost a communal dinner with an awkward access. Waitresses also seem to struggle with this set up. We decided to go with a sharing roast. We couldn't even finish it. It wasn't seared, it was burned. The fat didn't have a chance to render and ended up so chewy. The rest of the steak was also chewy and not seasoned. The gravy was so watery. The rest of the veggies were equally unseasoned. Cherry on top was a burned bone that was left on a plate with the meat already fully carved out. It goes on. Any pub would do a Sunday roast better. I just simply couldn't believe it so ended up laughing and leaving most of the food on the plates. It went unnoticed, it didn't raise any suspicion and the waiting staff did not ask about our experience. Do yourself a favour and visit any pub outside of central for a nice roast. Even a chain one.

Impeccable service by our waiter who I believe was also the manager. Great customer service and customer management. Coming to the food the starters were unimpressive, the fried chicken packed flavour and was juicy but the batter/tempura was dull and bland. The sourdough bread was light fluffy, but the butter was bland. The cauliflower was ok. Coming to the mains. The ribeye was cooked to perfection, was juicy and the dry age flavour came through. The Fillet on the other hand was bland and lacked the dry age flavour. The sides were a big disappointment, truffle mac and cheese had no flavour at all, just tasted of boiled macaroni. The chips were average. The highlight of the meal after the ribeye and service was the dessert . The pie was light, fluffy, buttery and delicious. The sweetness was well balanced with the acidity and zesty lemon flavour. We had previously dined at the coal shed in Brighton and was not disappointed. The London branch did not live up to the expectations, however I will definitely be revisiting for the steaks and dessert.

Perfect place to go before a Bridge Theater show. I happened to be there solo traveling from the U.S. on my birthday and they took amazing care of me (especially Munir!) The food was excellent!

My sister and I went there on Thursday evening with no reservation. We were asked to wait and were sat at the table within 10mins. Now the food, we opted out (awkwardly) for lots of small plates to share, not steak and food was incredible. It arrived quickly and all together. It was delicious and I would definitely come again to try steak next time

The Coal Shed, Tower Bridge: A Solid Choice, If You Can Find It! The Coal Shed in Tower Bridge offers a generally pleasant dining experience, though finding it can be a bit of an adventure. Updated directions would certainly be a welcome improvement! Once located, the starters immediately impressed. The baby back ribs were a definite highlight, tender and flavourful, and the prawn toast was equally delicious. A strong start indeed. Moving onto the mains, the steak, while acceptable, didn't quite reach the same heights as the starters. However, the peppercorn sauce was a resounding success, a solid 10/10, and the chips were perfectly executed. These accompaniments truly elevated the main course. Dessert proved to be another strong point. The sticky toffee pudding was a delight, and the churros were equally enjoyable, providing a sweet and satisfying end to the meal. Overall, The Coal Shed delivers a decent dining experience, earning a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It's a nice venue, and the quality of certain dishes, like the starters and the peppercorn sauce, is undeniable. However, while enjoyable, it's not quite compelling enough to warrant an immediate return visit.

We had a most delicious meal! Wesley our server was a wealth of information on everything on menu and explained the differences of the steaks splendidly. Dinner was super tasty. , Besides the flat iron steaks, we also enjoyed the sides and appetizers (especially the cauliflower). We thought we didn’t have room for dessert - hello date cake…. The holy grail of sweet sensation. Thank you to Wesley and the entire staff!
