Corporate event, in one of their first floor areas. Excellent location, friendly service, quality canapes and relaxed atmosphere ( which is hard to achieve in a busy London!). A most enjoyable evening.

Fine place to enjoy excellently prepared steak and sides! The meals were served family style so go in prepared for that but all the food was fantastic!

We expected something better. The filet was quite good, but the black Angus sirloin was cold inside, something you would not expect if you order grilled meat. The price was too high compared to what we ate. The staff was kind and the restaurant is quite elegant.

I had a nice dinner at Coal Shed with my family in July to celebrate my graduation, but the after-service has been disappointing. I forgot to get a receipt, so I emailed the restaurant. After a few emails, they sent it, but the total didn’t match the items we ordered, including the service charge. I’ve tried contacting management several times since but have received no response, though I keep getting emails to book another visit. Very frustrating and disappointing customer service, which makes me feel I was overcharged without realizing it.

Roast was okay wasn’t amazing potatoes felt like they been sitting there a while and was too big and needed to be cooked longer

We chose this restaurant as it was close to the Theatre. They had a specific pre-theatre menu which was very good value and excellent quality food. The service and atmosphere was great just a shame we had to rush off as interesting selection of wines too.

I recently had the pleasure of trying this place and their Sunday roast . The flavors were beautifully balanced, offering a truly satisfying experience. The presentation was visually appealing, and the food tasted incredibly fresh. I especially enjoyed their Steak which was mouth watering and the vegetables crispiness , roast carrots & potatoes yummy . I highly recommend giving it a try! Very pricey but worth it. We received service from Chirag, who was exceptionally attentive. Will be coming back !

Came here excited to eat lots of meat cooked properly over coals. Once our server came to take our order, we were informed that all of the steaks served per 100g were not in stock. Pretty ridiculous, given the main theme of this restaurant is steak. We were then informed they were out of half of the wines on the menu. We ordered the roast, along with 2 additional chateaubriands, and an additional Mac n cheese. The Mac and cheese and the cauliflower cheese both come in the tiniest little dishes you’ve ever seen, barely 3 bites in each. Absolutely all of the meat, was drastically under seasoned, and the chateaubriand was chewy (how you manage that is remarkable given the cut). Over £500 spent, for a 1 star meal. Avoid people. If you’re going to spend this much on a roast, head to Darby’s, and leave a thousand times more satisfied.

Lovely atmosphere, really tasty food. My wife and I came here for my birthday- staff super friendly, very attentive and a delight to be with. Highly recommend and can't say enough good things. Will return for the next special occasion.

Charle and her colleagues were professionally attentive and diligent throughout our lunch with a wonderful demeanour. We felt thoroughly looked after. Excellent experience all round.

Lovely place to go visit. Having the pre theatre menu meant we had 2 courses for the same price as a normal main, trout and the beef tacos, chicken and steak for mains. Krishna was our waitress and she was lovely, friendly and attentive. Food was great, compliments to the chef and team. Will be going back.

Food was pretty good albeit overpriced, however the dinner was cheapened by overzealous upselling. We chose a £48 bottle of wine to immediately be recommended a wine double the price by a waiter who clearly followed a script. Obviously he had been told by management to push the fine wines as we heard the same on another table. When we got the bill they then added a charity donation without telling us or giving us any information. It was only a small amount but it felt cheeky so we asked them to remove it. I really did not like this one bit!! Despite the high end prices we didn’t feel the restaurant or service reflected this, so will not return.

It was spectacular, even more so with Lucas' service speaking in Portuguese, we felt at home!

Met a friend for a casual and quiet drinks/snacks, away from the noisy nearby Hays Galleria. Staff and service very prompt and friendly. Drinks served fast. Good choice of snacks. The oysters prepared two ways were very nice.

Great food and drinks, friendly staff, prime location, overall a great experience. Shout out to our server Charie! I had booked a dinner on August 13th to celebrate immediately after my proposal to my girlfriend, and I had noted that in the reservation along with a picture of us. The staff recognized us and greeted us by name. They congratulated us and gave us free champagne to celebrate - it was a great way to start an engagement. They also gave us good advice for touring London (we’re from the US). Overall, highly recommend, and thank you to The Coal Shed team

I came here with my family 5 of for a birthday lunch , we all ordered from the set menu. The starters were good, however 4 of us had ordered the steak and it was terrible to say the least , chewy and generally inedible. I let the server know and she said that’s how the cut of beef is as it’s muscly , but ultimately that’s a poor excuse and thus should not be on menu if it is that poor. The waiter said maybe cook the steaks for a bit longer to see if that would improve it, which we agreed. The steaks came back and were marginally better, but still no where good enough. We didn’t finish our steaks and left without even looking at the deserts (which we were looking forwards too, due to our disappointment). We will certainly not be back.

The service was slow, and having been offered water on arrival found that rather than tap water, we week charged further for a bottle of spring water. Despite the slow service an unreasonable 12.5% service charge was added to the bill. The overall experience came to total of £127, for a meal worth no more than £80. A complete letdown. Birthday treat was a nice touch but doesn't undo the issues with the meal"

Had late lunch on Friday 16th August. The food was really tasty and very well presented. Good value for money. We had three courses for £25. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Would certainly recommend and would go back again

Our waitress Krishna was very friendly and efficient with attention for details.

We had an early (pre theatre) meal here on a Monday evening - as such it was pretty quiet and hence the 4 stars for atmosphere, but it was still perfectly pleasant with music playing at a comfortable volume and the maitre d’ providing attentive service and good conversation. We shared sourdough with butter, and then the smoked beef short rib with a side of chips - it was delicious but we struggled to finish it, so would say the portions are fairly generous. Drinks selection was good, and recommendations were given. Desserts sounded amazing but we were disappointingly too full to sample! However, as we had mentioned that I was celebrating a ‘big’ birthday, the waiter kindly arrived with a birthday brownie, which was rich and fudgy. We were also very generously both given a glass of fizz to celebrate. Couldn’t fault the meal or the service we received from Chirag. It’s not exactly budget, but what we had was good quality and an affordable treat. Would recommend happily.

Down in London for the night for our anniversary and landed here for a meal - what an absolute gem of a place ! Our waitress was Charlie who was attentive, friendly and chatty and nothing was too much trouble ! We had a fab evening topped off by truffles and candles which was a lovely treat 💗

One of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. I went for dinner with friends and the food was so good and our server, Munir was very attentive. All staff were lovely too. I immediately booked a table for the next day for lunch, as my grandmother was visiting London and I knew she’d love this place! When we came back the next day staff welcomed us back, and even asked if we wanted to book a table the next day 😂Atmosphere was nice and spacious, especially for my 90 year old grandmother who needs more room. Highly recommend!

I’ve been here three times before - the first two times (in 2021 and 2023) were incredible! The best Sunday roast I’ve ever had! I left both times wanting to go straight back. My most recent visit wasn’t the same experience - the quality of the food wasn’t as good and the portion sizes were noticeably smaller. It was still good food, but nothing compared to my initial visits. The service is fantastic and I cannot fault it. If anything, much better than previously. My guess is that it’s under a new manager or owner? Either way, still a lovely lunch.

Every dish was made to perfection, highlighting the skills and creativity of the team. The meal exceeded our expectation and I feel it was one of the top dining places in London. Thank you for such a memorable experience.

A well appointed and comfortable environment. We were warmly greeted. Our server was exceptional being most helpful and taking the time to engage with us when it was possible. All interactions with the staff were courteous, which made us feel valued as customers.

After 1 hour my Tuna Tartare.came out.. I was lucky that I could go directly.in a bathroom.in another bar to trow up. Today all day diarrhea so.one day lost of vacation...I whent to complain and they told me I must allergique I have the best stomach in de world this is never.happend.when I eated tona or sushi.

Came on Sunday for the roast, the menu states that the roast is guaranteed until 16:00, we sat down at 16:00. The waiter confirmed they still had some in the kitchen so we ordered two (there was 4 of us). The staff were brilliant, couldn’t fault them at all and the restaurant was beautiful, was a nice setting to sit and eat a meal in. The 4 of us agreed that the roast wasn’t as good as it could have been, this may be due to us sitting down at 16:00 and we could have had a completely different experience if we had sat down earlier. The food was still good but there was bits of it that could have been better. We mentioned this to the staff incase this was a one off. We did feel it was a tad overpriced for what it was but being in central London I do get it. Despite this I would return again

We wanted a pre-theatre dinner. Arrived a half hour before opening but they took us in, gave us some water and a place to sit, which was very welcome as we'd been on our feet all day. We went for the 3 course pre-theatre menu, both having the garlic soup, the smoked salmon and a dessert. The soup was very good, not a harsh heavy garlic, but very subtly flavoured. The salmon was very subtly smoked, served with asparagus and crushed Jersey Royals. The wine we were allowed to taste first as I was unsure as to which one was better. For dessert, I had the Eton Mess which was served with fresh strawberries. Perhaps more than I needed to eat, but very good. Service was excellent and for just under £100, a three course dinner with wine, in London, service charge included, well that was pretty good value.

Outstanding from start to finish! I arrived 30 mins earlier than the rest of my party, and instantly the staff were on hand to ensure I had a drink and was taken care of at the table. Once the rest of my party arrived, we ordered cocktails off menu and that was no issue. Whiskey sours, old fashioned's and margaritas. The staff explained in detail each menu item and let us know what the chef recommended and how much we needed weight wise for the sharing steaks. The food was excellent. Carefully crafted and presented with care. Highly recommend the pork belly, prawns and tartare as a starter. Followed by beef short rib and the prime rib to share. Or if Pescatarian, the cod. Amazing experience all round. From the front of house to the kitchen chefs (shouts to Jozef) Thanks for a great mid week gathering with friend's. We'll be back!!!

We had an excellent meal, and the service was brilliant on what seemed like a very busy Friday evening. In particular Anastasia and Ellie were very personable, engaging and generally delightful. The interactions we had with them turned a very nice evening, into an excellent one.
