We went in for dinner. The fish and chips were freshly cooked and were really good, the service was good and to be honest, I was quite surprised at the price, I've paid a lot more for a takeaway at the other chip shop in town, it wasn't nearly as good as Tom Bells and I'd expect to pay a lot more to eat in.

Great service, beautifully freshly cooked fish with light crispy batter, chips were lovely. I would recommend Tom's to anyone visiting Edenbridge. ❤️

We fancied fish and chips tonight and our local is poor so we tried this one, or at least we tried to try it. On arrival there were three people at the counter, one was busy adding up some figures and didn't look up, I felt I was imposing. When my patience ran out and I summoned up the courage to interrupt to verify that in April 2024 this is a place which only takes cash in store, and to br told there'd be a fifteen minute wait for anything, I decided it was too much trouble and tried a different place up the road, which was a good decision.

We have not used Tom Bells fish and chip shop for sometime well sorry folks we will not be using this place ever again the chips were dry the cod bites well if you saw them you would not eat them and the peice of cod that I had was over cooked the only thing they did,nt muck up was the all steak pie that my missus had. I did not pay good money only to throw the majority away. NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE THIS PPACE HAS CERTAINLY GONE DOWN HILL.

Had plaice and chips but 25% of the place was inedible. It was just dried, battered skin. You must know what it is like before it is battered. Just battered to make it look bigger?

Can I just say Cain is fantastic as the new owner, he really cares about his staff talking to them with such empathy, also cares about his customers taking the time to chat and he cares about what he does. Well done

Just had the worst fish and chips ever.

A popular place with a good reputation. This was our first visit here and we were sadly disappointed. The haddock was well cooked but the batter was too thick and somewhat more greasy than expected. (Just as if the cooking oil temperature was less high than needed). The size of the chips portion was on the small side, though the quality of the chips was OK. So nothing to rave about, and not in any way unacceptable. The pricing was slightly on the high side, but with prices going up all the time that little extra cost might have been expected. There are better fish and chip shops, but maybe not in Edenbridge.

Disgraceful. The worst Tom bell ! Bought 3 large haddock and chips and a scampi and chips. The staff were disinterested and poorly presented . Ordered and then told " we only take cash no cards here !" One for you Mr chancellor! The shop was messy and dirty stock not put away , very off putting . The food was dreadful, the bater was like armour plating overcooked on the outside flour and water on the inside. The fish was totaly over cooked and very oilily so much so it was dripping out of two of the boxes . The scampi were in fact batter bags in some cases the bater cases were compleatly empty. Chips were just OK. If this is a franchise it should be revoked !

Lovely local fish and chip shop. Child friendly. Had fish and chips myself and my kids had the children’s menu. Clean restaurant area and toilets. Friendly and efficient staff. Weirdly they don’t accept cash here but there’s an ATM at the nearby Waitrose.

Great fish and chips but only gave 4 stars because you can't pay with a card in the shop !! You can if you order online and then pick up from shop seems crazy this day and age Get up to date Tom Bell

I'm afraid our experience of this shop was very disappointing. They were obviously understaffed and therefore we waited for half an hour for our takeaway. The portions were small and poor quality. Far too expensive for what it was.

The best fish & chip shop in the world. Used to love this place as a small child (dine-in and take out!) and now still go well out of my way to grab Edenbridge Tom Bells 25 years later, when home from New York. Thank you, Tom Bells! You guys are THE BEST.

They got my order wrong twice. It's so bloody annoying when you get home and see they put the wrong piece in the bag. Wont order again from there!!!

Asked for chips and gravy and ended up with chips in a paper bag with a carton of gravy! Asked for a tray but they didn’t have any and he wouldn’t let me sit in the dining area! How am I supposed to eat that in a car?? Complete wast of my hard earned money and the guy behind counter was rude and not helpful at all. Didn't even eat the food and would not go back.

bought chips yesterday, what could go wrong?? if they were wrapped traditionally in paper I could have seen what was being sold and refused to pay, as it was, the guy serving had his back to me and had closed the `bag` before turning and handing it to me closed. at first opening it looked pretty standard fare but upon reaching the halfway point of the bag, discovered he had deliberately filled the rest with tiny bits of hard potato. how sad and cheap spirited of this oafish server to dish up deliberately inedible food rather than bin it and fry some more....its only potato ffs. the resaurant area has tomato sauce in its dispensers that reminds me of the nastiest cheap sweetened stuff i was familiar with at 1980s football grounds or building site canteens.....sad penny pinching stuff....avoid

First time ordering from here yesterday. We had the cod and chips. The fish tasted really good and wasn't greasy at all. The chips were super tasty too. Portions are quiet good. Staff are extremely polite. Would definitely recommend this place.

Ordered first time from thsi place. O m g glad I did!! Food was amazing not flying dripping with fat not at all! Fresh and taste mint the best iv tasted Fella had the burger 🍔 and he said was the best he had! We will be back x

I had medium cod and chips mushy peas bottle of water huge bread roll like a loaf of bread apple juice and a tin of drink my missus had halloumi grilled cheese chips and salad and one drink came to £26 you can't complain at that clean plates we'll be back x

Foods good but service is a little slow. Even ordering online and specifying a time seems to mean they'll start making it when you arrive.

Fantastic fish and chips. Properly cooked and not at all greasy. We ordered a small cod, large chips and two saveloys. We got a big piece of cod, two long saveloys and enough chips to feed a small army !! The pineapple fritters were great, too!! Well worth a visit... !! Thank you.

I should have checked the Hygiene ratings (3) and my past experience of this takeaway before even considering to order through Just eat from here again! My first experience last year was so greasy and soggy. This time everything was burnt or stale. The fish was way overdone so the batter was almost burnt and the fish was chewy not pleasant. My daughters nuggets were burnt. The burger and the buttered roll (hotdog roll) were rock hard and unwrapped so pretty much stale. Not a pleasant experience at all. Will NOT recommend and will not go there ever again. And just to add, I'm not being fussy, I have photos which I will upload later! The only good thing was the delivery lady was happy.... no surprise as they made money for 4 meals that were disgusting.

Definitely not. The lady was very rude. After she charged double the money for small fish and chips that 3 nice ladies were charged. Her unbelievable reply after taking the money was: " Next time DON'T order any more." 😲😲😤😤 Toilets Very dirty. No ventilation for the horrible smell. No hand soap. No receipt was given when asked. All cash. Shame. So many people are trying the best and jet there are people like her. No no no

Good place to pick up some tasty fish and chips or whatever tickles your fancy! Lots of choice here. Friendly staff. You can eat in or takeaway which is good. Note that it's Cash only here, at the time of writing this, which is unusual in this day and age!

We really enjoyed the cod and chips served today. All cooked fresh so you will need to wait at least 10 minutes outside as you can't stay inside with social distancing rules. Would recommend.

Perfect experience - requested for fish and chips to be packaged together to help with socially distanced picnic (!), which they fulfilled perfectly, delivered on time, lovely and hot and tasty. Will definitely use again!

I must have gone on an 'off' night. The fish was well cooked but only just warm. The chips....ive never tasted anything like it....luke warm and very very dry...almost like cardboard. I had heard good things about this shop and i try not to post negative reviews but i will need a bit more convincing before i try their chips again.

Enjoyed a delicious meal, the atmosphere is lovely nice clean and fresh environment. Staff are very polite. Food cooked to perfection and presented nicely. Go and you won't be disappointed.

Had a lovely lunch here early January weekend, whilst we were staying at Hever. Husband had Savaloy and I had Fish Bites both with chips. Perfectly cooked, Crisp proper hand made chips and very tasty. We met the owners young son who helped take the order, a lovely little lad. The restaurant was lovely and clean, the food was excellent as was the tea. Very good value for money.

Was very good but last visit very disappointed, fish not cook to perfection, think it depends on the cook!!!

I don’t go very often but had takeaway pie and chips for lunch. The chips were soggy, the pie tepid and the curry sauce the worst I have ever tasted. Won’t be going back

Called in for lunch with my 2 grand daughters. Staff were very friendly. Food was freshly good, hot and tasty.

The quality of food in this place has gone down considerably. Batter on fish is far to thick, pies are heated up in microwave and therefore pastry is soggy, fillings are non existent .

I was lucky enough to notice a small poster in their window saying Gluten free fish and chips served on Wednesday and as it was Wednesday and we wanted lunch in we went. they have a fairly spacious restaurant in their fish and chip shop, plain but very clean and a nice view of the high St, they have a wide range of fish not just cod which is nice, we had a an excellent gluten free fish chips and mushy peas with very good service. There is a large car park behind the shop,

We ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chips. It was the first time in years I had been offered rock and it brought back memories from my childhood. Prices were very reasonable too.

As long time residents we rate this shop highly. All the food is high quality and prepared to order. Chips are really good. Chunky style and cooked perfectly never greasy or soggy. Calamari is reconstituted filling which may not be to everyone's taste but like everything else is cooked well and tasty and is really popular. Vegan and gluten free catered for really well. The only reason it's not five stars is because it's cash only. I'm a fan of cashless. Cash only dealing? I always wonder why?

My friends and I frequented the restaurant recently and were impressed with the service we received. When booking I enquired whether they served Prosecco or Cava but was told they didn't. To our surprise we were delighted to find they had purchased a bottle of Prosecco for us.. Service indeed. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We visit my nephew most Fridays and treat them to a takeaway, Chinese, Indian and fish and chips. Fish and chips we get from Tom Bells's in Edenbridge as taht is where they live. It was always first rate but lately absolutely terrible. About 3 months ago I was the only one who had fish and it was absolutely awful, fish was tough and batter thick and uncooked in the batter close to the fish was still like uncooked batter mix. A month later all the adults had fish and chips and the kids had chicken nuggets, the batter was burnt and the oil tasted old. Lastly this evening 16th August 2019 we tried again again fish was awful batter overcooked and chips were not freshly cooked. We shan't be having them again they have had enough chances.

Go here when visiting my nan. Always a warm welcome and lovely food. The man working in restaurant is always so patient and good with the kids and has a really pleasant manor Had the breakfast menu today and it was amazing!!

Dad popped in for some chips to compliment our Chindian we were having. Tom Bells has always been my dad's favourite and he was spot on again. Great chips and would recommend.

Got a take away cod and chips on gluten free Wednesday. I normally find fish and chips to greasy but this was really good I think the batter is better than the with gluten. I didn't think it was expensive like many reviewers seem to.

Very tasty food cooked to perfection. Staff are very welcoming and make a pleasant atmosphere. Environment is very clean. Take away is separated from dining area so you feel at peace while eating. Walked in, spotted the chicken, spotted the sausages, spotted the chips & my eyes lit up with excitement, what I couldn’t of anticipated was the bald guy serving it licking his fingers and picking at the food as he served it. Best believe we Done a 180 never to return

Really can't go wrong here, lovely fish and chips and fast service from the friendly staff. Have eaten in he before, had a lovely scampi and chips. Great place for takeaway or pop in for lunch. Deals for OAPS which is nice.

We were visiting relatives and then visited Hever Castle. After that, we went into Edenbridge to grab a quick bite. We went into one pub - they didn't offer lunch on Sunday. We went into another - they only offered a 3-course meal. We went into Tom Bell Traditional Fish and Chips and could have whatever we wanted - score! My two teenage kids and I had a wonderful lunch with great service. They were very attentive and the food was good. Thank you for feeding hungry Americans on a Sunday for lunch!

Incredible arrogant manner. Chips launched at you in cheap polystyrene boxes. Not a fan particularly when it wasn’t cheap. Shall stick with the other chip shop at top of town.

También él primero. Si necesitábamos algo, fueron muy rápidos a cumplir. Muy contentos de ver un buen servicio al cliente.

A hot favourite amongst the locals - the first choice for a fish supper. The Q is long and so be prepared to wait. Good crispy batter and chips - you can't go wrong !!

A menudo nos vaya aquí para tomar las comidas en casa para 2. Uno tiene el pescado frito que es excelente, masa y precario cod encantador crisy blanco. Mi otra mitad tiene una carne, a eso se le añade una gran porción de patatas fritas y un cartón de guisantes blandos. Un auténtico paraíso!
