Extremely rude and full of ego owner (Rob), very dismissive and defensive chef, he wouldn't take any criticism, very unprofessional! My girlfriend and I had an awful experience, ordered drinks and then food took ages apparently to blame his staff being more worried about checking their mobile phones than looking after the customers, food arrived late and after complaining to the staff then Rob himself came over to our table with the most appalling of confidence to tell us that his restaurant was a fine dining michelin starred chef place looking at us with anger. Do yourself a favour and get counselling on ego behaviour. Will definitely not return and will not recommend to anyone. Appalling.

Been meaning to come to Toffs for a while, particularly after being impressed by the skills of Rob [Palmer] at a cooking demonstration during Solihull Food festival last year, & we weren't disappointed. We were initially given an amuse-bouche which was a wonderful little taster with a strong [but not overpowering] taste of pickled onions. I had the asparagus to start. This had been cooked on a barbecue so had a wonderful smoky flavour which brought out the taste, rather than detracting from it. It arrived with a cold asparagus sauce that was wonderful, & had it not been very bad manners, I could've drank it straight from the jug it was so good! My husband had the coronation crab & was equally impressed. Given it was Sunday lunch, as anticipated there were the usual roasts with a choice of roast beef or pork [stuffed with apricots], or cod in Champagne cream which I went for. However, this isn't the 'usual' presentation of Sunday roast, everything had been given subtle but incredibly tasty variations. For example the carrots were served with flavours of spring onion, the cabbage had been barbecued so also had that amazing smoky taste, as did the cauliflower. My husband had the beef & said it was the best he'd tasted, & I was so glad I still had some of the delicious bread we'd been given initially to soak up the Champagne cream with my salmon, as that also was too good not to finish. The desserts were a choice of chocolate mousse or a delicate rhubarb tart. Both were exceptional & lovely & light which was perfect as we were both really full by then. We really enjoyed being at the chef's bench with a great view of the cooking & the well organised staff team. The wine also was really good & Jen who served us was attentive without being intrusive. Finally, the music playlist was great too with an eclectic mix that would probably suit most tastes. It was also loud enough to hear without being excessive. I've eaten in some places where the music is so loud people have had to shout over it to be heard & conversation is almost impossible, so this was a good balance. This is really excellent & imaginatively created food from a top notch chef & it's so good to have a good independent restaurant of this quality in Solihull. Thank you Rob & all the staff at Toffs :)

Visited for a celebratory birthday lunch. Exceptional restaurant. Every morsel exquisite. Imaginative yet simple menu - best ingredients in the hands of some real culinary talent.

Came for 5 course lunch, and have already recommended it to others and absolutely wouldn’t hesitate to come back for either lunch or dinner. Each course was a masterclass in refinement, technical skill, restraint and precision and it was all just so good! The five courses plus amuse bouche were beautifully well balanced and we left gently arguing about which was our favourite course. The bread takes me all the way back to when my Dad used to bring home cottage loaves with an extra tasty crusty top. Chicken liver parfait was stellar. Similar to a dish served at another restaurant but with a more textural element contrasting the light as air parfait with the crunch of the chicken skin granola type topping. The fish was a surprise (I wouldn’t have thought of pairing mushrooms with fish) but it delicious with a salty skin and the mushrooms taking on a soy like pickle flavour I can’t really describe. But my favourite was the beef - everything on that plate punched well above its weight. From the parsley sauce, unctuous gravy, perfectly cooked fillet and the potato pave layered with meat meaning that it didn’t just turn into indistinguishable mush, but also was like having the best cottage pie of your life on your plate. Special thanks too to the front of house - discrete, smooth service. I know it’s prob not very trendy to be writing reviews like this, and there is a split in the hospitality industry on whether they’re a good thing or just done by onanists, but credit where it’s due - Toffs are really producing some excellent food and the more recognition they get, the better!

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Toffs. Each course was a delight - hard to pick a favourite. The venue is small enough for diners to experience personal service with staff genuinely interested, knowledgable and concerned to ensure that all diners enjoy the experience. There is a good, but not overwhelming, wine list as well as the option of a drinks pairing. A real gem offering exceptional , locally sourced food

The food was truly excellent, with some of the lightest dishes we have ever had. Perfect for a warm summer evening. We are fortunate enough to dine at lots of Michelin * restaurants & will be very surprised if Toffs doesn't get a star in 2024. As the only true fine dining restaurant in the centre of Solihull this restaurant really does need the support of the local community. As they say 'use it or lose it.

Our meal at Toffs topped many Michelin starred restaurants we have visited in the past. We had the seven course taster, food was excellent throughout and staff were welcoming and professional. Highlights were the Isle of Wight tomato, the second lamb course and both the stawberry and chocolate desserts. Great for a special occasion and would thoroughly recommend - good value too for seven courses, especially considering the artistry and quality of the food. Great to finally have independents like this in our town. Look forward to returning for Sunday lunch.

Fine dining but with a warm feel. Exquisite perfectly prepared locally sourced food at a good price. 55 quid for 5 courses represents superb value for this kind of dining experience. Great wine selection too. I've been here for both romantic dinners and lunch with a group of friends and highly recommended you dine here.

Our 1st time having a tasting menu and we weren’t 100% sure what to expect. But for anyone who doesn’t know it is several consecutive plates of food over 3-4 hours from a fixed menu…a dream come true for anyone who loves to eat. We sat at the kitchen table / bar so we could see what was going on in the kitchen which added another dimension to the evening so this was perfect for a date night. This also gave us the opportunity to have a chat with the owner Rob his team. My wife and I love to eat food but can’t say that we know an awful lot about fine dining culture so we were a little nervous about asking stupid questions or even offending. But we were made to feel really comfortable, not patronised at all and quickly relaxed into plate after plate of amazing looking and amazing tasting food - they even do magic beer and wine glasses at Toffs which somehow stay full all evening 👌

We sat down at 730 to a half full restaurant. Mind you, try and navigate Solihull’s parking (you go ti one and it shuts at 9pm, another only allows 90 mins…..)and I’m surprised we weren’t late. Always like trying a new place so super excited. Canapés we’re brilliant, then things turned a bit warm(literally). The food on a few courses was only just warm, I’m sure it wasn’t meant to be. Inventive ,don’t get me wrong. But the meal was a bit slow, then towards the end too fast….we didn’t leave until I think 1130. The scallop dish was amazing ,a gorgeous ceviche style plate. The fish course was only warm again. It was lovely but a little in need of heat. Service patchy but friendly. I really think this has potential but it’s a little off putting when staff mop floors and you see them on their phones all the time. Finished with a divine chocolate desert I have to say.

Go now! A compact menu that has classics and new twists on the sandwich score. Jam sandwich was on point and the avocado and Serrano ham sandwich was well portioned and delicious. Clearly quality ingredients used and they were not stingy with them. Nice tasty coffee. In sum, one of the nicest brunchs I've in a while. Go!
