The meal went in the bin as we couldn’t trust the rest of the food. Decided today that I would treat my business friends to fish n chips from Tingley Bar as I used to love there fish many years ago and wouldn't go anywhere else. But today I was very disappointed very much so, that my friends decided not to eat them.. reason being the fish batter was over cooked the chips were rock hard as if they were there from last night and re fried. They even hot the order wrong instead of fish and chips twice and 1 fish I received fish n chips twice and a bag of chips and was charged £15 ish..it wasn't until my PA arrived back to the office we realised their mistake... I'm not the one to complain but I must admit this time round Tingley Bar you disappointed me.. You must improve your products as you will loose valued customers.

Firstly the restaurant part has closed down, its just the chippy part now. Service is slow, you walk in and see the menu, everything virtually apart from fish and chips are to order. Went in on a lunchtime at 1pm, fish was so so, chips were dry and had been sat their. Place is very quiet now and the quality very poor. The card machine is always out of order, so basically their cash only. The restaurant part has gone and is now an indian restaurant run by different people (and is very good as a note, gate of india). Used to drive miles to come here when younger, now that i live 5 minutes away, i would not even make that trip to tingley bar chippy.

Thought of having traditional fish and chips and asked at counter which fat they use, the lady at counter said beef dripping. Purchased fish and chips , mushy peas and a can of soft drink. The fish looked like it had been cooked for a while and was very burnt and hard. The chips were hard too. Mushy peas were good. Didn’t eat it as it was awful.

Spent two and-a-half hours battling massive traffic queues on the M1, my parents had a similar experience with the A1, we arrived hungry and with expectation at Tingley Bar Restaurant only to find it closed, permanently. This had been a meeting place for us for many years as the fish and chips were just stunning. Deep golden crunchy batter coating white perfectly cooked Haddock served with beef dripping cooked chips and mushy peas. Tea bread and butter completing the ensemble. If this has closed through lack of support then the local population should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves, if you don't use it then you lose it. RIP the BEST fish and chip restaurant that ever was.

I normally go to the mermaid but it was closed the other night so I drove down the road to the Tingley Fish Bar. First of all the carpark is really scruffy and bit of rubbish all over the place. chear hand written signage telling you were to do order also looks like something from the 1980's. We went into the take way section with its door with the smashed glass, and entered a chip shop from 1985, i didnt really want to buy anything but we memeber of staf was stood there so I ordered. to be fair the chips looked amazing but I wanted to pay by card and I was told "we cant take cards after the restaurant is closed becasue we only have 1 machine. WOW its 2017 and its not hard to have 2 PDQ machines in a business. so if you want to pay with a card you have to do so before 7pm as its cash only after that. I would like to say that the girl service was really nice and friendly. So we left with no dinner and had some soup at home.

Tingley was our go to fish and chip shop for take aways before we moved away from Leeds. It is now our go to restaurant when we return for a visit. Honestly is has improved greatly and the last few times we have been we have found the fish and chips to be outstanding. Fresh tasting, flaky but meaty haddock and gorgeous chips, fluffy on the inside and crispy outside made all the better by being fried in beef dripping. We have visited the mermaid three times and we very unimpressed. Whilst Tingley may not be as solubrious in its decor, it beats the local competion into submission with the food.

For the first time ever, we went to this place yesterday and whilst I love fish & chips, I rarely go these days as whilst I enjoy eating them, I always get indigestion afterwards but not with this place. The staff were lovely and served quickly, efficiently and in a friendly manner. The batter was nice and crispy and the chips weren't insipid or underdone but a nice light brown colour and the fish was a substantial chunk. The mushy peas were yummy too. I particularly like the fact that they do different sized portions and senior portions at set prices.I have lived in the south for a while and really missed this quality of fish & chips. The own slightly negative thing would be that the place does need a refurb but it was clean and tidy. It's obviously seen better days but personally I'd rather come here than go to a posh place, pay thru the nose and have substandard food.I did like the quirky pictures on the walls though, it adds a bit of character.Plenty of parking and whilst you could get in to eat downstairs in a wheelchair, I think the loos are upstairs.

This was the first time I could chose from the 'Senior' menu and I settled for haddock which came with chips, a slice of bread and butter and a pot of tea with mushy peas as a side dish. Service was very prompt and pleasant and the food was cooked to perfection. I'm a big bloke, worked hard all morning - I wanted something that would keep me going the rest of the day. Said yes to the large and grabbed a can of coke. When handed the fish butty I was asked for £5.18 - £4.50 of which was for the butty. One word - extortionate. Here's a few more - misleading, ambiguous and a right royal rip off. I live near a fantastic chip shop. For a bigger fish butty they charge £3.40 - big difference plus taste far better and cooked to order. Near Tingley and fancy a bit to eat? Avoid the fish bar. I've been going to tingley fish bar for about 6 years on and off as I work in the locality. They serve traditional fish and chips and have a restaurant aimed at the older customer attached. The service varies considerable from moody older staff to younger gormless staff. The person frying the fish tends to huff and puff a lot, especially for food which is asked to be cooked to order. They do an interesting dish called the all day special which consists of chips, 3 battered fish bites, a sausage, and sauce / peas / gravy which fills and warms on a cold day but this is not always available (hence the huffing an puffing from the cook).Outside the premises on the wall there are various dishes listed with prices, however when you go in the shop these are not available at the prices stated, and infact the prices are higher. I guess this is designed to entice you in and then hope you can't be bothered looking elsewhere. The shop is small and a little scruffy. The parking and access can be difficult. So why do I keep going back? 1. The food is usually quite reasonable and hot.2. Being from Bradford I'm accustomed to apalling customer service in white British owned shops and chain stores. (I am white British just to clarify).

They just can't seem to get it right?!Tonights fail relates specifically to their "Wednesday special offer" advertised outside as "Fish Butty £2.60". Myself and my colleague dropped in to order one this Wednesday evening to find we were charged £4.10 for the over-cooked delight. When I was shocked at the price and asked why this was the case, the girl stated in a completely ignorant and disinterested manner "you should have ordered a small fish for that offer". Nowehere outside on the advertisment, nor inside does it say this so how are customers supposed to know? Completely ripped off without a glimmer of remorse. I don't suppose anyone really cares that this was the fourth and last time I will ever go to Tingley fisheries. My work colleagues talked me into giving it one last go tonight but that's it for me and the rest of my team now. Last time I just wanted some fish bites but was told I could only have them as part of the daily special. I stated that I didn't want a sausage or sauce or chips with my fish bites (as per the daily special), so the girl told me I should order and pay the price for a special but ask for it without chips, sausage and sauce. The time before that I wanted sliced bread instead of a breadcake and was told they didn't have sliced bread on the premises despite the fact I could see an open loaf behind the counter. I even said I would pay the price of a breadcake for it (which would have bought them the equivalent of about 2 loaves) - the answer was simply "no".The food isn't all that great to continue going there. From now on, if the Miners isn't open (clearly the best in Morley!!), we shall be going without fish and chips on our shift and waiting till it is!Shoddy.

Today is halloween, the kids are on school holidays so i being grandad decided to take my grandsons out for their tea before they went trick and treating with their mum.I fancied fish and chips and so did they. Not having been to Tingley Bar Fisheries for years i thought i would give it another chance as the last meal i had there was quite poor.I looked at the menu and prices it looked ok to me.It was pointed to me the prices had just gone up,but still the prices looked ok for me especially for the children, just £3 a head.My ordinary size fish was £8 plus which sounded ok.We all got bread and real butter and a drink each. The kids had a can of their chosen pop each and i had pot of tea. When the kids meals came i thought what good value, about the size of normal takeaway fish and chips from the shop. When mine came i was slightly disapointed in the size not alot bigger than the ones ordered for the kids and i was paying £5 plus more.I soon forgot about the size of my fish when i tasted it,Delicious, cooked perfect, hot and fresh, even the chips just as i like them.I added on a curry sauce and the whole bill only came to £15 something not expensive for all three of us.Just to sum up,Tingley Bar Restaurant gave me good service, good food, and value for money especially for kids.Thankyou Steve from Bradford.

Lovely fish and chips, always red hot and fresh. Great value,, fish, chips, tea, bread and butter £5.50 for the smaller portion which is just the right size, enough to leave you full but not too much that you stuff yourself unnecessarily and end up in a 'food coma'. The fish is very nice if cooked and served immediately. Chips if you can call then that we're awful. They are cut by machine and there are lots of tiny off cuts that are oily and overlooked. These should be removed or boiled mashed and used in fish cakes. The chips were tasteless and dry and I am sure mine were reheated or they tasted like it. What a shame the chips let the fish down which was of a good standard. I ate about 1.45 after lunch time rush so that's why I say fish is better eaten immediately. The place looks tardy now and could do with some TLC. If you go at busy times when fryer cooking all time and have the small bits of chips removed you could call it average or have with salad. Not overpriced. After this trip I will. It be visiting again.

Just off the main road through Morley and towards Tingley, you'll probably pass it by without spotting it. We only spotted it as we waited at the traffic lights and my wife saw a sign advertising the restaurant. It is basically a fish and chip shop with a restaurant attached. It was getting near to closing time when we arrived but the waitress found us a table. The staff all seemed very pleasant and the food was excellent. Fish and chips, bread and butter and a pot of tea for £5.50, mushy peas extra. A tip though, you only need to order a single pot of peas between to of you. We ordered one each and it was a little too much for us.Fresh cooked fish and chips, very good value.

Can’t go to this pub if you want to laugh. Was told we were laughing too loud and had to calm down . Never in 50yrs have I heard that

Staff Great Main course Rissoto was just a mussy mess lacked taste and Asparagus burnt Chicken was like rubber and broccoli so badly burnt was not edible . Dessert choclate fondant and ice cream good. We were told that a trainee was in the kitchen while the head chef was somewhere else . This was a gift from a special person so very disappointed. We were offered coffee but declined

Called in for a quick beer with my partner, I noticed there was a staff member from the Wakefield spoons, now one of the team managers at Morley, I spoke to her and she basically just ignored me, don't think this is professional from a management member. All other staff were friendly and polite, won't go back to that venue again.

Feeling peckish my friend decided he wanted fish & chips, we were on the Headrow so l thought of Nash's even though l've never eaten there. The reason for that is the business & alley approach looks so unwelcoming. And it did again...7 large green general waste dustbins right outside, rubbish everywhere. Now l know this is not the fault of Nash's but it's plain off-putting, they could screen it off for a small outlay. Secondly l said to my pal "lt's shut", everything about it led me to thinking that, even with an "open" flyer on the door, l was amazed the door opened when l pushed it. Oh oh, totally empty, no food in the fryers, really strange. The woman behind the counter was great, she explained that it was cooked fresh & wouldn't take long. 2 fish & chips were ordered and tbh l was not expecting much. I was wrong, the fish was really good and the chips fine & plentiful, mushy peas ok if a bit watery. The only negative was the tomato sauce, it was terrible, orange & cheap. Whilst we were eating 2 other customers arrived, so 4 in probably 40 minutes there. There is something wrong here, the food was good, the woman friendly & efficient but it is devoid of any atmosphere or decent furnishings, to me it looks like totally wasted potential. I'd probably give it another try, maybe l caught it on an unusually quiet day, but still, please make an effort on the approach & frontage to make it more welcoming, l'm sure it'd make huge difference.
