Delightful small hotel, very personal in agreat spot on the coast, but the food was exceptional. We had the venison and the lamb rump and both were perfect.

The Tingle Creek Hotel was the final stage of our tour of the North of Scotland. Every aspect of our stay here was excellent. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and exceptionally efficient. Andy, in particular, went out of his way to make our stay special. He, and the rest of your team, are a credit to you. We will definitely be back and we will be recommending you to friends and family.

Friendly good service. Only recently reopened from Covid shutdown and whilst precautions clearly in place this did not detract. Lovely food in a country house hotel setting. We had both vegetarian and other options - all good. Many people dining were clearly hotel guests and booking in advance seems sensible.

We ate in this restaurant for breakfast and dinner on both mornings/evenings of our 2 night stay. The menu is a little more limited due to Covid-19 restrictions but don’t let that put you off as it is excellent quality and really well presented. Great value for the effort made to provide good quality ingredients

Great food available Thursday to Monday nights. Locally sourced ingredients used at all times. Beautifully cooked and presented. Lots of choice available for each course. Menu changes daily. Range of choices for vegetarians too. Large portions - I’ve yet to see anyone manage all three courses. Friendly waiting staff. Picturesque views across to Raasay. Well worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed!

As we were staying at the hotel we decided to eat here also......the restuarant has limited opening hours between 6pm and 8.30pm.......and it's probably best to book as it gets busy. The menu has plenty choice. Butternut squash soup to start was very nice as was the home baked bread. The cod for main was really nice and the venison steak was cooked very well. If you have room for dessert the salted caramel cake was lovely! We were lucky to be seated at the window with the stunning views over to Skye! The girls who were waiting the tables worked very hard to make the experience enjoyable so all credit goes to them.....they didn't stop the whole night!! I would definately recommend the restuarant if you are staying at tingle creek!!

Discovered this hotel by chance online, and booked for an overnight stay. Having had a long journey, we decided to eat in the hotel. What a wise decision! The menu is amazing. Usually there is only a couple of things that I might like, but on this menu I was spoilt for choice. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The service was just right, attentive but not intrusive. There was a good choice on the menu for vegetarians, And definitely leave room for dessert! The presentation and the taste just have to be experienced! The next morning we experienced breakfast. A good selection, bacon, sausage, beans, etc were served in self-service hot plates, with eggs cooked to order. Toast, tea and coffee are served to your table as well. The restaurant is well set out so that all the tables are able to enjoy the view through the large garden window.

We dined in the restaurant during our stay and had a fantastic dinner. The a la carte menu has something for everyone and the basis of the menu is around locally produced. The trio of seafood and the prawns were excellent, followed by a pork chop and rump of lamb which were exceptional. The service was very friendly and the staff could not do enough for you. A must to visit if you are in the area

Discovered this hotel by accident when looking for sunset photo opportunities. From outside it looks as if it would fit into any modern housing scheme, but inside it’s totally different. Pleasant decor with a touch of class, numerous framed photos to decorate and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We both opted for the 8oz venison steak, which was so tender and served with a red currant sauce. Then for desert we both ordered the gingerbread cheesecake with Chantilly cream and absolutely delicious. Sadly this establishment closes from mid October, over the winter months, but otherwise we would highly recommend eating here.

At the end of a long days driving it's nice to discover that your hotel also has an excellent restaurant. To put you in the mood for a great dinner you begin by getting to enjoy a panoramic view of water and mountains. I rarely eat meat but chose the venison casserole which came with mashed sweet potatoes, baby carrots and mashed potatoes and basil. Add some nice Pinot and wonderful company and you can't go wrong.

We passed it on the way to our B&B and decided to get there for dinner. Beautiful! Maybe a bit dated but that's also charming! They made space for us as they were full, but they were very welcoming and friendly. We ordered the anti-pasti and the venison. Delicious!!! And to top it off a sticky toffee pudding and a brownie. The food was delicious and the views to die for! Got the sunset while having dinner.

Arrived on a Sunday evening at around half past 6 and the restaurant was quiet - one other couple in. Went here as had been before and very impressed however it was very disappointing.Although it was early, when we came to order, lots of the food menu was off as they had run out. We both opted for the braised venison and though one portion was lovely in second portion the venison was still frozen in the middle! When we complained the manager was very apologetic and said another one would be right out. This was not the case, the plate had simply been blitzed in the microwave so though the venison was now cooked, the redcurrant jam and vegetables were nearly obliterated. Food was really not up to expectations and the manager avoided us for the rest of our visit! Will not be back.

We had traveled all day to get to the Kyle of Lochalsh area. We arrived hungry and tired and had made arrangements for dinner here at the Tingle Creek Restaurant. What a yummy surprise! We had excellent service, a magnificent view of the bay and the Isle of Skye in the distance and we got great food too, and all for a reasonable price. My mum (91 and sometimes hard to please) and I both had one of the specials for the evening, it was Sea Bass. Perfectly done, very tasty, with lovely vegetables cooked just right, and tasty little healthy whole grain dinner rolls. We were so well satisfied by the main course that we didn't have room for any dessert, but I am sure it would have been awesome.Great service, great atmosphere, and great food. A winner!

.Four of us ate here on a Saturday night, we had booked. Were greeted by Alan who was very friendly and showed us to our table so that we could browse the menu whilst enjoying a drink. Our waitress was just as friendly as Alan and took our order. We all declined starters and ordered Fish & Chips and Venison Casserole. Only waited about 15 minutes before the food arrived. What a size of fish! Almost like a whale! All delicious, hot and presented well. Venison was very tender and came with veggies. Two of us had deserts, Key Lime Pie and Raspberry Pavlova, really yummy! A bottle of Tingle Creek White Wine was a good choice and very good value. I can definitely recommend the food at this lovely hotel.

The Tingle Creek is so named because it was acquired from the proceeds of a winning bet on the famous horse of that name; and, like the horse, the hotel, and particularly its restaurant, is a winner. There is a variety of British hotel whose exterior gives nothing away, varying from the boutique to the vulgar and the Tingle Creek is such, nearer, in spite of its spacious public rooms and facilities for weddings, nearer the boutique end of the market. From a menu entirely made up of local fish and meat, we both chose the superb haggis, with a touch of cream and a shot of single malt served up in a tiny gravy boat, followed by cold Langoustines with salad. There was no cheese on the menu but when we asked for it we were supplied with a cheese board which made up in quality and quantity for what it lacked in variety. The wine list was just a little pedestrian with only one French white and red but the Marlborough Pinot we chose was cheap at the price. Overall, this is an unpretentious winner or, as you might say, a dark horse.

Dined in the restaurant while staying nearby. The hotel looks small and uninspiring from the outside and the restaurant and lounge therefore came as a surprise. Large, comfortable and in the case of the restaurant, with views out over the bay that are quite stunning. We found there to be a slightly bizarre air to the decor - sort of 80s oriental style in the lounge and 80s cruise ship stype in the restaurant with sunken floor, railings etc.The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and service was to a good standard. The food however, we found a wee bit disappointing. I chose the venison but it came in very runny gravy and lacked any distinctive taste being a bit under-seasoned. Why would you not thicken the liqour in a casserole? Other than that, a lovely evening in relaxed surroundings. Would definitely try again.

Clearly aiming for the wedding market and to cater for its residents needs for hearty dinners, rather than to passing trade, this restaurant misses the mark in providing a professional standard of fayre and service.Meals are of home-cooked quality-good enough but not memorable.Unimaginative overcooked vegetables and undercooked potatoes ,underseasoned mains lacking flavour.Wine was spilled and not wiped, food nearly flew across the table and while service was friendly it was slow and far from comprehensive.Great views may compensate for the experience ,weather permitting;but just down the road ,Plockton offers far superior eating opportunities.

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !

Stopped for the night while doing the NC500 with my husband and 8 + 9 year old kids, one of the only places in Thurso that you can have a sit down meal! Absolutely delicious meal, got the chicken Ceylon roll as a starter and it came out piping hot and so fresh!! The flavours were absolutely amazing! My husband had the medium spice chicken Ceylon curry and said it was amazing, the flavours and spices were absolutely spot on! I had the mild beef Ceylon curry and it was equally as good! All cooked fresh to order and you can tell as it was piping hot and so fresh to taste! There is a children’s menu for the fussier eaters, my daughter had spaghetti and my son had a burger and there was no complaints from them! Our first time trying Sri Lanka food and won’t be our last thanks to this restaurant! Staff are delightful as well☺️
