Ting Restaurant and Lounge in Southwark

This is an amazing place to go for fabulous views of London and for incredible, endless food with outstanding service. Nathaniel couldn’t have been more charming and helpful and we will definitely be back!

We enjoyed an exceptional dining experience, and we were looked after by the most attentive staff. The breakfast offering covers every palette and if you fancy something ‘off piste’, that becomes available also. Nathaniel, who mostly looked after us, was a professional, likeable chap. In an ideal world, I would eat here every day!

The view was incredible. We got to see the London Bridge open and close which was really cool to watch. The service was very good even though it took us over 2 hours to complete 5 courses. The food was average or less. I would not recommend the restaurant due to the fact that the food was not worth the price we paid per person which was 115 pounds.

First and foremost thank you to the Chef Weronika for her perfect Wagyu A5. Thanks for Emil excellent and spotless service. Thank you to Giorgia the sommelier who were thoughtful and knowledgeable. Thank you Fidan, Alex and Renate for the warm welcome and satisfying service maintenance. Thank you Jing. Thank you to the chefs Ascanio for everything and to chef Manoj, and chef Bistra.

We had a celebration dinner at the Ting restaurant after my graduation on 6th September. From booking to dinner, I had a special service. Unfortunately, I could not get the booking app to work, but the person I emailed was extremely kind to book on my behalf. In the restaurant, we had a special window seat with spectacular views over London and looking at the Tower Bridge. Our host, Rahul was very professional with extra care to my parents as it was their first time there. I was very grateful for all the tips on the menu and extra treats that we had. The seabass dish was perfection. Thank you for chocolates and congratulations at the end of our meal. Well done Rahul!!

Considering this restaurant is associated with the Shangri-La Hotel it provided the worst service of any five star hotel I have been in. The staff looked miserable and were inattentive. Even after having a word with the manager nothing changed. I didn’t request or ask for anything complimentary I simply asked them to ensure the staff did a better job. Nothing changed, the next morning at breakfast I asked three times for poached eggs. I even saw some missing poached eggs sitting to one side. The lady that seated us for drinks the first day didn’t smile once and seemed put out having to seat us and when I passed her the next morning and said good morning she was still looking miserable. This is as far away as it gets from the standard I expect from the Shangri-La. The staff did not know what was included in the room rate from the breakfast menu. The views do not make up for the poor service.

Service not 5 star and food was expensive and poor quality. We were shown to a table near the centre of the restaurant not a window seat as requested though we understood that’s not guaranteed. Taster menus were immediately put down onto our table as we were sat down, after a few minutes we were asked if we would like some water for our table, we requested our usual iced tap water which was poured into the awaiting glasses. We were then left for a further 5 minutes, no drinks menu or A La Carte menu was offered. Our waiter then came and told us there was the tasting menu available and I asked about seeing the A La Carte menu too? We were given a business card with a bar code to scan on our iPhones to read the menu! How impersonal and rude, the same for the drinks menu? How does a restaurant not have a menu and wine list to peruse! I also noted every table had a stool for the ladies handbags to perch, how lovely, I was never offered one? In the end we decided to try the taster menu as a whole experience, we were told the lamb would be served pink and we were happy with that. Mine was actually inedible it was raw warm meat, a lump af white fat within it too., literally looked like raw bacon in colour! My husband’s was pink but not so bad as mine. No I didn’t complain, but the waiter also didn’t ask if it was ok? The tomato starter and the scallop starter was nice, the cod was also beautifully cooked. The lamb and pudding were not nice at all. No wine pairing offered, again we chose a bottle from our iPhone menu! My husband asked if we could sit somewhere closer to the window after our dessert to enjoy coffee after our meal, we were immediately moved to a window table which was nice. All in all an extremely expensive and disappointing Anniversary dinner, £359.95 including a £4595 service charge!

The Ting Restaurant at the Shard is excellent , from the time we arrived at 1pm and leaving at 3pm having been for lunch the service was first class. Our Waiter Yassin was most helpful and the food well presented and high quality . We would not hestitate to recommend Ting , please give it a try you will not be dissapointed , and the views from the 35 floor where the restaurant is spectacular .

Decided to treat ourselves on our last night of holidays to dinner here. We weren’t entirely sure it would be right for our 8 and 6 year old but our concerns were quickly put to rest. All the waiting staff were terrific, engaged with us and the kids equally and made us feel totally relaxed. The food for the kids was ‘the best burger ever’ and ‘yummy fish and chips’. The adults food was superb, full of flavour and good portion size. When it came to dessert, a table next to the window became available and we were offered it to finish our dinner there, another lovely touch from the staff. Then there was the dried ice surprise for the kids which topped it all off. I would happily recommend this restaurant to any parents wanting a special treat for dinner.
