Wow what can I say food was delicious. We came for lunch value was great and there was plenty of food. Staff were attentive and surroundings nice we will definitely be back

Visiting relatives in Johnstone, we needed somewhere to take our niece, her husband and their two children out for dinner. We chose The Punjab Times, and truly, we really could not have chosen better. The restaurant is upstairs in a building that used to house a long established Italian restaurant called Il Piccolo Mondo. A large dining room is furnished in the traditional Indian restaurant style, with very comfortable seating, and lots of breathing space. The decor features lots of references to heroes of Sikh folklore and modern day Scottish Sikhs. The restaurant is, naturally, owned and run by a Scots sikh family, all of home (at any rate those serving us front of house) were quite exceptionally friendly and welcoming, particularly towards the young ones in our party, who were rewarded with complimentary ice cream after attempting to solve a tricky puzzle involving cocktail sticks set by a member of the team. The food that we ate for dinner was as good as I’ve had in any comparable Indian restaurant, anywhere. Fresh, beautifully judged curries, very large naan breads, light and fluffy and roasting hot straight from the tandoor, and delicious mixed pakoras for six to share, which were a delight. The kids ate sizzling lamb and chicken skewers, and loved them. Absolutely faultless food. In summary, the combination of superb food, attentive and prompt service, a terrific welcome, and the joy of service staff who were unstuffy, kind, and right on the ball with a great Scots/Sikh sense of humour and relaxed attitude made our visit to The Punjab Times a really enjoyable experience. We would go back without hesitation. Hard recommend.

We have eaten here for the past year plus. Always look after my kids and food is really authentic. They have even catered to my daughter’s first Birthday, with reasonable prices. Also gone out of their way to make my son feel special on his birthday and also brought guest along with us and they have enjoyed it.

One of the Best Indian restaurant , I have personally tasted . Hospitality was great and they cooked which was not in the menu , just we requested it. Food was exceptionally good and tasty . After long trip in isle of skye with horrible experience with food there, this was just a treat and felt like eating at home . Would surely go again and will highly recommend if someone is looking for true Indian food.

Don't order the biryani absolutely disgusting rubber chicken n spicy rice this mob are cowboys serving a dish like this to a takeaway customer. Never again would I order out of this place. Try himalaya in Cardonald for authentic biryani beautiful food at a reasonable price.

My husband & I booked for Christmas day . Set menu so much to choose from & the meal was amazing the food was the best I've tasted in Renfrew in years can't be faulted .The atmosphere was perfect the staff can't do enough the restaurant was full and that says it all ! Best curry we’ve had for a long time! Everything was so fresh and delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Fantastic vegan and vegetarian options, the okra dopiaza was 10/10. Will be recommending this to friends.

This was my first time ordering a takeaway and it is by far the best curry I’ve ever tasted in Renfrewshire. Amazing flavour, great naan and just very good value for money. My new favourite Indian restaurant/takeaway. I can’t wait to try more!

This was our first visit to this restaurant when we attended a family birthday party. We’ll definitely be back! There were 34 of us for dinner but the service was smiley, helpful and efficient - even with the big numbers - and the food was delicious - very fresh, incredibly tasty and plentiful. The platter of mixed starters was my favourite - and the garlic naan!

Family birthday party on 22nd July. Big thank you to Arun for organising the food for home delivery and to Rakesh for spot on timed delivery! Everyone at the party said that the pakora, sauce, spiced onions and popadoms were terrific, and said they would all be going to the Punjab Times in future. Again thank you to all the staff involved in making our day special!

After a bit of a false start where we had booked for two but they had changed opening times, we had a great lunch. There were four of us and all tried something different taking recommendations. every dish was delicious, good sized portions and reasonable prices. The waiting staff were attentive but were in no rush to move us on A lovely relaxed way to spend an afternoon. Will definitely be back and will also try the takeaway option

Looking for freshly cooked authentic Indian food and good service? Look no further than The Punjab Times in Renfrew (63 Hairst st PA4 8QU). After the restaurant relaunched last October 2022, we have become frequent visitors to this restaurant and have witnessed and tasted the many delights on offer, from the Christmas day menu to present. We generally do not eat out on Christmas day due to previous disappointments, however due to family commitments we decided to dine at The Punjab Times on Christmas day, and glad we did, the food was first class, beautifully presented in a relaxed atmosphere, there was plenty of choice for even the fussiest diners. Staff were very welcoming and attentive without being overly attentive, so much so, we have booked again for this Christmas 2023! The restaurant has 4 chefs and each bring their own expertise, passion and specialities ensuring the food is authentic, freshly cooked and presented well. Young diners are welcomed and catered for, our grandchildren love going along for a treat, especially when they are given crayons and paper to keep them busy before food arrives. The kid’s menu covers many of the kids’ favourites with ice cream to follow. We have enjoyed trying many different dishes from the menu, my favourite being King Prawn Balchao, prawns in a thick and spicy sauce with garlic, cloves and cinnamon with hint of coconut and mustard seeds served with special fried rice. Whereas my husband preferences are chicken dishes, such as Chicken peri peri sizzler, beautifully presented and gently char grilled to perfection. Often when we pass by and time is limited, we opt for the lunch time menu, a 3-course lunch special/pre theatre menu, reasonably priced and great value for money, with just about right portion sizes. On occasion that we have not been able to finish our food, we have been able to have the food packed to go, no wastage during these difficult times. The nan bread deserves a mention, it’s very light, made on request and hot: occasionally we have buttered chapattis as an alternative. The menu is extensive and certainly something for everyone, and if not ……. Just ask! Our friends who have a preference for vegetarian options love visiting as they enjoy a large variety of freshly cooked meals, especially the Quorn meat free dishes on offer. We have not used the home delivery service yet, however, whilst sitting in restaurant we have witnessed many carry out food orders leaving the kitchen for home delivery. I must comment on the cocktails on offer! The Punjab Times offer their own version of Iced Tea……. with a twist of the flavours of spiced chai, it’s the best I have ever tasted and reasonably priced and worth a try. Meanwhile my husband enjoys a pint of cold drawn kingfisher on tap. No review would be complete without wishing the owners and staff of The Punjab Times many good wishes for the future and thank them for their commitment to continue to offer their customers the best quality in house cooked food at a reasonable price with a high level of customer service.

Had a lovely Valantine Meal last night. As usual the meal was superb as was the service by the staff. I was given a free glass of bubbly because of the occasion. Both myself and my husband really enjoyed our meal and will certainly be back. I booked a table for eight of my friends and me for March as they will not go anywhere else now since I introduced them to the Punjab Times for our monthly meetings! Thanks again June Jackson

Indian is my favourite choice, and I have visited many the whole experience is fantastic, staff are lovely and customer service 10/10. Their poppadome & spiced onions are so fresh and to die for. Then their lamb I have tried for a starter & main. Absolutely beautiful, so tender. I would recommend for couples, families groups etc, definitely one of my favourites! Please give it a bash! X
