Really disappointed... I'd avoid this place if you're looking for a decent dinner. The Oriental is our usual and it's top stuff, very much regret trying this place.... £70 down the drain! The egg fried rice was bland and and tasted like cheap boiled rice. Everything was dripping in oil. The salt and pepper squid was beyond soggy with a pool of oil in the container, completely inedible. The ribs had barely any meat on and the sauce was tasteless. The spicy garlic chicken was not spicy and, again, very bland. The chicken balls were mostly batter. 85% of what we ordered is now sitting in the wheelie bin!

Have not had food from here in a long time so thought would try was very disappointed the batter on pork balls was stodgy and the pork was not good, same with the prawn ones batter awful but the prawn was ok rice lacked flavour and no taste of prawn on the prawn crackers. Unfortunately won't be ordering from there again

Got a take away and it was great. Plenty of food and cooked well. Enjoyed it.

I rang up to ask if it was at all possible to buy 40 fortune cookies 🥠 They were so helpful, friendly and easily added in a dinner that was hot and delicious. Thank you so much for all your help x

Very tasty food and was delivered fast. Lovely prawn toast and came with complimentary spring rolls. Not a lot of good Chinese places around but this place makes up for it.

I am so angry I ordered over 2 hours ago and was told 40 mins I phoned after an hour and a half as thought it may be busy and was told it’s just leaving I phoned after 2 hours to be told it’s just being cooked I asked to speak to a manger who then told me they was talking about the wrong address and they had lost my ticket the woman who takes the orders was not sorry and kept laughing saying I can only tell you what they are telling me the manager didn’t care I will never use them again completely ruined mine and family’s evening Horrible people

I stopped ordering from Tim Ley about a year ago because of the UGov hygiene rating being so bad. ( 1 star ) Just gave them another try and the food was really awful. The hygiene rating is slightly better now but the food tasted dreadful. Soggy batter. Chicken taste is odd and old. The rice tasted like it was cooked several days ago . I really wanted to give the place another try but it all tastes quite bad with msg and salt used to cover it up..... Also one of the dishes I ordered was left out and I was charged for it...... I suppose it may be a blessing in disguise. There isn't a good Chinese restaurant to order from around here and it would be great if one of them stepped up and made an effort to deliver decent food. I won't be ordering from Tim Ley anymore. Sorry , I gave you the benefit of the doubt - again - but the food is not good at all

I always use this Chinese restaurant for deliveries, however... I recently visited for a pick up on my way past and although the food is still top notch, the decor and the shop front is pretty bad, it's been ages since the windows been boarded up. We're not living in Beirut or the Ukraine! Just get it sorted, front of house is dirty, grubby and boxes of noodles stacked up 🤷🏼‍♂️ It just doesn't look very good.

Ok, so I ordered ‘Thai Red Curry’. It was not in the least like Thai red curry, in fact it was 100% not Thai red curry. It had NONE of the ingredients associated with it, it had ingredients that are NEVER in Thai red curry for instance tomatoes, mushrooms and aubergines. It was beige/grey in colour, Thai food always has freshly flash fried chicken - this had the glutinous Chinese style chicken. I went back and to their credit they gave me my money back. They asked if I’d ever been to Thailand (yes), and I showed them Google images of ‘Thai red curry’. They said it was ‘their version’, the fact is it no way whatsoever did it represent’Thai red curry’. They told me to never come back - is if I would!!!!

Good Chinese food at very reasonable prices, can’t complain at all. Definitely recommend 👍

Very tasty food, fast service and polite staff :) Their crispy duck and prawn chow mein are simply delicious! This place reminds me of my trip to China. I will definitely come back there, as they take good care of their customers! :) P.S. The cashier is always cheerful

Tasteless, poor. After many years of good food, things changed. Three orders over a few days confirmed that they have gone down hill massively. Never again.

Right what is going on here at this place my partner ordered and she ordered mini spring rolls right why is there just one giant greasy spring roll that Waighs about .7 of a kilo whole bag covered in grease she’s particularly concerned about her food and this is disgusting I have photos to prove it and if this is just the fact she was the last customer even worse and also calling 5 minutes after they close they ignore my calls when we could have sorted this out better

I live in Upper Hartfield and had been desperate for Chicken Chow Mein, but was not feeling well enough to drive to East Grinstead to collect a takeaway and was delighted when I found out that they could deliver to me. even though I am 6 miles away! Food arrived piping hot, was absolutely delicious as per usual and in my opinion Tim Ley is by far the best takeaway, with lovely friendly staff too. :-)

Really good takeaway when you fancy something delivered after a long day. Satisfying when you are hungry and not too much MSG and salt.

Over a hour delivery. Order came in cold. Pancakes for duck were stuck together they had been in the package so long. Really disappointed. You don't expect rto have to re heat a take away. Especially with rice and food you do not no when was previously heated or reheated. What a shame. Oh and the one teaspoon of sauce for the quarterdeck was bloody ridiculous. Do not recommend.

Just awful!!! Please don't waste your money like I did, this was the most bland tasting Chinese food that I have ever ordered, I placed an online order and was given sweet and sour prawn balls instead of sweet and sour pork balls. The sweet and sour sauce was so oily and wasn't even red in colour, The egg fried rice tasted of the container it came in so my thoughts are that it was microwaved. I couldn't stand the horrible taste that the food had so I threw it in the bin. Just awful food!

Ordered veg dish .. veg Thai Curry and Egg Fried rice..it wasnt nice at all..smelt of fish..taste was bland and sauce watery..i would not recommend the veg dish i ordered!

Food was okay. Was overcharged despite pointing out that the price we were quoted didn't match the menu online, received a new menu with the order which confirmed being overcharged. Weren't told that prawn crackers were free over 15 quid so we paid for some and received additional free ones which is now just a waste. One of the dishes wasn't even a full dish which was disappointing and delivery took over an hour to arrive. Alright but wouldn't rush back and will definitely push for correct price next time if we were to return which is unlikely.

Not impressed, got my order wrong and when I phoned told me I was wrong. Had to chase the delivery guy up the road as he couldn't find my address. Chicken was stringy and tough, Noodles were chewy and dry

Such a disappointment…very late delivery and qualifies for the worse takeaway I have ever had…give it a miss..

Best Chinese takeaway for miles 👍

Happy with the food and portion size, however I would appreciate an online order system to avoid misunderstandings over the phone. I tried to order Satay Prawns and definitely didn't get that, no sign of peanut at all in the sauce 😅

I arrived, ordered and was told it would be 10 minutes. We actually waited an hour. When I got back my thai green curry was actually grey, thick and gloopy. The rest of the order was edible but only just. Total waste of £25, and we won't be returning.

Lemon chicken 10/10 with a unique tart flavour. House special chow mein pictures, may look small and expensive at £6.50 but it was possible the best I have ever had. Genuine ingredients, unique chicken, beautiful pork and non greasy noodles. Prawn crackers also great. The prices may be premium, but the quality of the food is beyond premium.

This has been our favourite take away for some years. Have to say on this latest visit it was not as good as it used to be. This is just the latest example of a continual process where everything you buy from almost anyone anywhere is on a downward trend in order to mask an inflation rate of 40%, which is what it would really be if quality were maintained and nothing had changed except the price. Veg in veg curry a little coarse, beef in black bean a little rubbery, sauce, flavours and service all very good as always have been. I'm really glad I don't run a business these days, anyone who does has my sympathy, trying to balance price with offering etc.

Very poor service from this place on two occasions. First time was 2 hour delivery wait despite being told the food was on its way after we called up after waiting for one hour. On calling after 1hr30 minutes we asked for a refund as we had payed by card, that was refused as was told the driver was outside (He wasn't) food then arrived after 2hrs... at this point I phoned again, was insured I would get 50% off next order. After such an awful service we wasn't sure about placing another order but as we had "50% off" we thought it'll be worth it, right?? Well, on calling to place the next order, I immediately brought up the 50% off to ensure this would be honoured (Assuming it'll be on their system or something) but no, not the case. They denied knowledge of the first order. Food average.

Decent food good delivery time food could be a bit better but it does vary ive had some amazing meals from here

In my opinion, simply the BEST Chinese takeaway in town. In fact, you'll have to go a long way to find anywhere as good, never mind better. We often have soups. The won ton soup and crab and sweercorn are really nice. The hot and sour could do with a little more vinegar (personal taste). The rice is nicely cooked and flavoured. The noodles are very good. There are various dishes, and they're usually of the highest standard. Would I go back? You bet! Fairly frequently! I'd give them 10 stars if I could... 😁
