Visited Tiled Café inside the Leeds Library, and it certainly lives up to its name with stunning interiors and classic tiled décor that feels like stepping back in time. The ambiance is calm and refined, making it a lovely spot to relax or read. Prices are reasonable, and the menu offers a mix of seasonal and classic options. I ordered a chai latte – good flavour, though I would have enjoyed a bit more kick on the seasonal spices to really warm it up. But what really stood out was the maple and pecan pastry plait – absolutely delicious, with just the right balance of sweetness and crunch. Overall, it’s a gem of a café with beautiful surroundings, ideal for a cosy break or a peaceful spot to unwind in the heart of Leeds. Would recommend for anyone visiting the library or nearby!

The tiled hall cafe is spectacular. I only had a coffee, so I can't really rate the food, and the serving setup seemed a bit confused when I was there. People were queuing to collect orders, but there was no one at the order point for a while, but hardly a big deal.

This cafe was a beautiful and historical visit! If I lived here in Leeds, I would make it one of my usual haunts because the food and drinks are affordable and the staff members are so lovely with their service. The gentleman that served me also spoke to me about a little background of this historical site, about the tiles on the wall and other cool facts… was greatly appreciated🥰

I was visiting the Leeds Art Gallery with my partner and we stopped by the Tiled Hall Cafe, a charming spot with beautifully tiled ceilings, walls, and floors. The coffee was excellent, and the brownie I had was truly delightful. Adding to the ambiance was a live piano performance, which played lovely melodies in the background. The cafe was lively and full of youngsters, making it a vibrant place to be. However, it was quite crowded and noisy, with many people chatting at once, making it a bit hard to fully relax 😅 Despite the noise, the unique setting and delicious treats made it a memorable and enjoyable experience. The Tiled Hall Cafe is a vibrant place, perfect for a quick coffee break amidst art exploration.

Fabulous place for a coffee but staff here are not happy in their work. No communication with customers at all, not even a Hello or a Thank You! Thin girl with glasses is one of the most miserable uncommunicative service people I have ever experienced. Went with 6 friends and three of us ordered Flat Latte coffee, so why did 2 of us have large cups, and 1 of us got a small cup at the same price. Management needs to sort this out.

Service is bizarre. Ordered a cappuccino and latte with skimmed milk and no chocolate sprinkles. I saw the young woman with dark hair and a fringe who was making the coffees grab the whole milk, I didn’t think those coffees were for myself until she gave the first drink to me. I politely mentioned that I had asked for skimmed/semi-skimmed milk and she just looked at me blankly… Not the usual response of “I’m sorry let me fix that for you”. I asked if she didn’t have any semi-skinned milk left and she said she did, so I’m unsure of what the issue was, other than she couldn’t be bothered to make a new one. I proceeded to help by saying ok I can see you’ve not made the other drink so I’ll take this one but can I have semi-skimmed milk in the other one? She reluctantly does so, throwing her hands in the air walking into the back as she does, then she comes back out a second later texting on her mobile phone. Seems to intentionally take longer to make the drink then gives them to me without a word? I don’t expect 5* service in a coffee shop, but this was a very strange experience…

I get that they were only using paper cups at the time but we weren’t warned by our server that it’d be in a paper cup and no explanation given when we received our order despite the fact that we paid a fairly steep price for what we thought would be a pot of tea. Well worth a look for the architecture alone. Updated April 2023 unfortunately I'm downgrading my review - recently visited here for the first time in a while. Service was poor, staff on the till were fine but those preparing drinking off hand and surly - the tray with my order just shoved towards me. None of the food on display - pastries and cakes etc had prices marked. I think it is a poor show not to indicate the price, the drinks are on a menu board and DO have prices. The food and drink is actually quite good, place let down by some staff and lack of visible pricing.

Everything was 'no frills' the food, crockery etc but though unassuming, the food was great. Really tasty. I had the a turkey, stuffing and cranberry ciabatta and my partner had a brie and bacon ciabatta. I really would recommend that you give this place a try, it's a lovely, alternative place, very family friendly and you can pop next door to the gallery afterwards. There were quite a few people working/studying in there, a little noisy at peak times, but some people just wore headphones. Free Wi-Fi and free tap water that you can pour yourself.

Not so much the location, but management seem to have a real attitude problem. I came in today and have dietary restrictions (allergies), and picked out a couple things. Noticed I was heavily limited in choice which was surprising as usually they have a great selection of vegan snacks, they did not. Got what I can have, and went to pay only to be greeted with a woman bossing every other staff member around. Best part of this encounter, she did not know the menu of the cafe, so had put through a latte the cafe could not make, waggled her finger at me to wait and then ignored me again to do something with some trays. After this, she kept asking me what I was trying to say to her and then wandered off for something else AGAIN. Best part of this encounter being that after I had bought nearly 5 pounds worth of food from the cafe, only 2 light things keeping in mind I am limited to the menu anyway, I was then told I could not bring in additional food. So beware if you have allergies or low blood sugar levels, apparently we are not welcome here, nor will they even stoop so low as to accommodate anyone other than certain people.

For the past few months, there has been no food available other than cakes and sweets, although a sign has been on display in the doorway declaring a new menu coming is soon! It never comes...
